Wade Brown looked through the files....faces, faces of terminated offenders. Crime lords, drug lords, arsonists, kidnappers, murderers, the list of offenses went on, but no matter they were locked away. So why how Gotham gotten so dark, so dangerous, so ridden with crime that the streets were unsafe. Wade knew the answer, he closed the screen and walked to the wall.
With the push of a book the wall was open and he was down the pole. At the bottom he was no longer Wade Brown, he was Batman, well, the newest Batman. He was not the first to dawn the suit after Bruce Wayne, in fact he was the fifth. At 24 Wade was no veteran but he had managed to put away countless criminals one after the after.
Now, in this dark time there weren't many who trusted him or for that matter asked of his help. He walked to the monitors and turned them in. He could see all of Wayne mansion through these monitors, plus Arkham and the police station. He could watch Adam sleep all while monitoring Arkham's perimeter for break outs.
Adam was Wade's life, beyond crime fighting that is. They had met on the streets, Wade had just started his life as Batman, Adam was about to lose his in a bank holdup. Wade thought it was an infatuation, Adam appearing whenever Batman was called, but he grew on him and it wasn't after two months that Batman became Wade to Adam and the secret was gone.
Wade, himself, grew quickly passionate of Adam, who, had become just like his Alfred and Robin rolled in one. He wasn't strong in physical but made up quite well with mental and street smarts, areas Wade lacked in.
Wade switched screens and focused on Arkham, it was a much different place now. It's walls impenetrable steel, electrified wire at the top. The interior much different as well, the faces new, unknowns and petty. Gone were the days of The Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, they had long since passed. The only criminal of Bruce Wayne's days to die in freedom was The Joker. And with crime rising Wade had only one suspect...The Joker....a physical impossibility. Still it was his only clue....similar crime patterns....similar sinister laugh....he had to act on those hunches.
