Do you believe in this world you live in? Do you believe it is real? Do you believe that the computer you are setting at right now reading this is real? If you believe it is then to you your right. What you believe is real is real to you. You think I am about to tell you it isn't, well I'm not. For you see I am as real as you are, if not more so. That right I am real in a way. You see I can manipulate time and space as if it was a computer program, though I can't manipulate others I can manipulate the things around me. I can change the basic look of myself to give the effect I am a totally different person. You are probably saying your joking right well if you think I am then I guess I am. But there was a time when I thought as you do now. The only difference is I woke up, so to speak. Or rather my mind did. It is true when they humans only use a very small portion of their mind. Yes there are others out there just like who have awakened but their strengths might lie elsewhere. But most are the same. I guess you want to know how I came to be awakened, okay then here's my story.

Time: Summer of 1998 Location: Somewhere in the southern area of Texas

My day started out as normal I guess getting up and getting ready for work at the local music store. It wasn't very large, but it was a job. I live alone in a small apartment. I don't have much other than what my parents gave me as a house warming gifts. Mainly the essentials like a small couch straight chair dinette set and the complex supplied the needed appliances. I had a nice bedroom suit though. A four poster king size bed with the drapes made from a dark oak. With an antique dresser from my grandmother, you know the kind with the circle mirror and such. A chest of drawers to match the dresser. Anyway getting up from the nice slumber is always hard for me since the bed was so comfortable. But I did drag myself from the comforts of bed to take my shower and such.

Stepping into the bathroom I took a look into the mirror and saw a young man that given the chance could make another very happy. I have a nice body I think. It is like all sculpted and such but firm and tight. It was more of a normal build I guess you can say. My hair hung down to a little below my shoulders and was the color of coal. It seemed to have almost a bluish tent to it. Which made my crystal blue eyes stand out with fire almost. I smiled into the reflection and went to turn the shower on to so it can warm up to the right temperature. Letting the warm water wash away the sleep I began to feel alive again. Showers are the one thing I look forward to when I wake up cause they make me feel alive. Finishing I step out and dry off with a large fluffy towel. Then I have to dress in that damn music uniform. Which is puke green and green pants. The attire makes me look sick. After that I leave the apartment and head to the store to start the day. The traffic is unusually busy this morning so pulling out onto the by-pass to get to work is gonna be tricky. I finally see an opening and try to make it. And success I am in traffic on my way to work. I drive a couple of miles to the Singleton exit and pull off and head down Singleton to Marks Music and CD. Upon entering the store I see the new shipment of Backstreet Boys memorabilia waiting to be put out. Knowing Mark he leaves that to me. So grudgingly I clock in and start to work. It's not like I dislike the Backstreet Boys it's just there is some much there and a lot of it is small items. I open the first box and see it is the Chapter One CD's. Well time to get the price gun and start marking them. Luckily Lucy is working this morning so she can handle the register. Or so I thought she would anyway. Turns out she is sick this and this leaves me with mark who never touches the damn thing unless there is a problem and he always sits in his office. So when the Bells ring announcing a customer I put down what I am doing and head to the register.

Sighing I watch as the customer moves about the store browsing the selections. This is the worst part about having to do both register and stock. When a customer enters you have to be at the counter if you are alone. After about ten minutes the customer comes over to the counter with his purchases. Now the store itself is a high money marker. I ring up the Items for this man and turn to give him the amount when I see a gun pointed in my face.

"Don't say a word, just give me the money and then go to the front and lock the doors." I did as he said. He followed me with the gun pointed at my head the entire time. Of course Mark didn't know what was going on as he was always in his office and there were no cameras, so when I walked in with the gun behind me he nearly passed out. I noticed the safe was closed and it was a time lock so getting it opened was gonna be tricky if not impossible. "You open the safe." He said hitting in the back with the gun.

"I don't know the combination." Which was the truth.

"You in the chair tell the boy the combination." He snarled.

"The safe is a time lock it won't open for another 30 minutes." The owner said.

"There is an override for it so open it now or you both die." There was an override I didn't know that.

"Chad the combo is 24-38-16-8 then spin it three times to the left and enter 311256 on the keypad." Mark instructed me. I did as I was told and the emergency override sounded and the safe opened.

"Now move out of the way and don't try to stop me." I moved over next to Mark and waited for him to get the things in the safe. Just as the man reached for the money box the safe slammed shut and powered down. Now to say the man was mad is an understatement. "What the fuck happened?" He said as he turned to me.

"I...I don't know." I sputtered out.

"I know you don't what about it you."

"That code is the robbery code it opens the safe but in 30 seconds it closes and shuts down for the next 12 hours. There is no way to open it." Mark said.

"You shit!" just as he began to pull the trigger I stepped in front of Mark and the bullet hitting me in the chest. As I went down the sirens of police cars was heard and the sound of glass shattering became the last thing I heard as I fell into the still of darkness.

The darkness around me was comforting it seemed. I then began to dream I think I was anyway. I was back at my apartment lying down on my bed sleeping when the door opened and in stepped through the man in the store who had shot me.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I screamed then darkness again. Pain shot through my body and I knew I was alive. I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in a small white room. I could feel my right shoulder bandaged up. I heard a knock at the door and then it opened and a nurse stepped through.

"Good your awake, lets check that bandage." She stated. For the next 15 minutes she unwrapped and re-wrapped the bandage on my shoulder. It was a little sore but that was expected. Just as the nurse was leaving a doctor entered.

"Evening Mr. Taylor, how are you feeling today?"

"As well as can be expected I guess." I answered.

"Well being shot isn't fun but I think you can leave in the morning if you feel like it."

"Thanks."

"Just remember to follow up with your doctor and of course if your shoulder gets worse let us know." He said his farewells and left. I hated hospitals. So being discharged was a good thing. Now all I had to do is get someone to pick me up in the morning. And that in it's self was a challenge since the only people I know are out of town or in my case my boss. That is another thing what would my boss be like. And would I still have a job. Finally I closed my eyes forcing myself to fall into the depths of sleep hoping things would work out in the morning.

I was sitting on the edge of the hospital bed all dressed waiting for the discharge papers to arrive so I could sign them. Mark arrived about 9 am that morning offering me a ride to my apartment. I smiled to myself and accepted his offer. We sat there for about two hours not saying anything just waiting for those damn papers. Finally I could stand the silence any longer.

"Mark when do you want me back at work?" He hung his head and sighed.

"Chad thanks for saving my life and all but..."

"It's okay Mark I understand, I'll turn in the uniforms as soon as I can."

"I'm really sorry Chad I wish it could be different."

"I know Mark lets just get these papers signed and get me home." I should have seen this coming but as usual I blinded myself to truth. Soon I was in my apartment trying to figure out how I was gonna pay bills and such. It wasn't enough to get robbed and then shot protecting your boss but getting fired too. That was the clincher. I decided to start looking through my mail and see how much I owe. After two hours of sifting through the mail I would have enough to pay everything and still have enough to live off of for the rest of the month. I was thankful for having started the savings account a few years ago or I would be up shit creak with out a paddle. Now it was time to start searching for a job. I opened the paper and looked over at the help wanted ads and started to look through them. When I saw an ad that seemed interesting.

Personal bodyguard needed. PGE is looking for a few people Who would like to become personal bodyguards? Excellent pay with Full benefits and retirement. If interested please call xxx-xxx-xxxx and ask for Bob.

I circled the ad and grabbed the phone. As a kid I always wanted to be in security and now it was my chance. I picked up the phone and dialed the number.

Ring ... Ring...

"Hello PGE Security how may I direct you call?"

"Bob please."

"Thanks one moment please."

Ring...

"This is Bob."

"Yes my name is Chad Taylor I just read your ad in the newspaper and I am interested in the position."

"Great, do you think you can come in today so we can have a talk?"

"Sure when would be the best time."

"Any time I have nothing pressing."

"Okay I'll be there in about an hour."

"Okay Mr. Taylor I'll be waiting." I hung up and went to get dressed properly and grabbed notebook and headed for the PGE offices.

"Mr. Bob will be with you shortly." Replied the secretary. I sat down and waited to be called. After sitting for a little over 15 minutes a middle aged man appeared at an open door.

"Mr. Taylor?" I stood up and walked over to the man. "Good of you be here I am Bob please come in and make your self comfortable." I shook his hand and stepped into his office. He offered me a seat in front of his desk and I sat as he opened a folder. "Mr. Taylor thanks for calling this morning, I went ahead and looked you up. And what I have seen is very impressive. You have no marks against you so that is a plus. And I see you have just been released from the hospital from a gun shot wound you received protecting you boss. That in it's self speaks highly of you. As I see you also had some basic training in college and high school as a form of security." To say I was shocked was an understatement. I nodded and he continued. "As I see it Mr. Taylor you have your self a job if you want it."

"Yes I would love it." I gushed this was all so surprising to say the least.

"Good then there is already an assignment for you. With this kind of assignment it will allow you to heal a bit as well as have some fun." He handed me a folder. Just as the folder opened and I read the customers name my jaw dropped open. In bold black letters
