Levi's POV

"CUT! And print it! Ladies and gentlemen, that's a wrap!" And with that the combined members of the cast and crew of the movie 'Hiss of Death' broke into applause.

Tired of the usual crap and garbage that was churned out year after year, the studio had optioned the rights to the entire series of Rita Mae Brown's Mrs. Murphy Mysteries, including the aforementioned, yet to be released 'Hiss of Death', hoping to draw families to the box office. For me, this was a genuine first, a real family affair. My mother, Lorna Devon was one of the stars, my older brother Zak was the Director, Sebastian, my next oldest brother was the Assistant Director, my older sister Cassandra, Casey to the rest of us in the family, was the Head Make-up artist, and I, Levi, was the Cinematographer. Zak and Casey chose to use our mother's maiden name of Devon as well, while Sebastian and I used our father's surname of Stand.

Okay, time for a quick bit of family history. Lorna Devon, my mother was a twenty one year old model who had just landed her first major part in a movie when she met my father, an L.A. county uniformed police officer named Jack Stand, who had pulled her over for running a red light on Sunset Boulevard, and then proceeded to give her a ticket, and ask her out, all in the same breath. Giving the tall red haired cop an appraising look, Lorna took all of thirty seconds to decide, what the hell, and say yes. Three months later, they were married, and a year after that, Zak was born, followed by Sebastian two years later, Casey two years after him, and then me a year the year after Casey, which makes me twenty eight, Casey twenty nine, Sebastian thirty one, and Zak thirty three.

The fires of love burned hot and bright between my parents right up to the moment that a sniper's bullet took my father's life. My mother liked the fact that she could occasionally pull her long sable colored hair back into a ponytail, put on a baseball cap along with her jeans and a Henley t-shirt and venture out of the house with no make up and a pair of aviator sunglasses, and go to Safeway or Albertsons where no one ever connected the tall, unassuming Mrs. Jackson Stand with the very glamorous looking Lorna Devon.

When it became apparent that all four of us kids were destined, at an early age, for a career behind the scenes in the film industry, our parents supported us whole heartedly. This became apparent the summer that Zak was thirteen, Sebastian eleven, Casey nine, and me eight, and we spent days on end making our own version of Zak's all time favorite movie with all of our friends, most of whom also had parents in the film industry.

So it was with much fanfare that we gathered all of our parents in the back yard for the Labor Day Weekend debut of 'Star Wars'! In a word, it was awful, but the four of us had been bitten by the bug, and there was no turning back.

Every summer, it was a different movie, and we actually got better as the summer's progressed. The summer after our dad died, we weren't going to do a movie, but mom knew what we needed even if we didn't, and dragged us into the family room, where we found all of our "equipment" waiting for us.

Mom was right. The distraction of making our annual summer "masterpiece" was just what we needed to help take our minds off the fact that dad was gone, and gave us something to focus on, pulling us out of ourselves and our grief. I was fifteen that summer. That was the summer that I finally admitted I was gay, even if only to myself...

At least I wasn't alone for long in my self discovery. About six months later my best friend Sam Connelly, the son of my dad's partner on the force, admitted, well actually blurted out was more like it, the truth, that he was gay too, and had known for a couple of years.

I was certainly shocked by this turn of events, as Sam seemed to be the quintessential jock, doing football in the fall, basketball in the winter, and either soccer, baseball, or track, in the spring. Sam was a year ahead of me, in Casey's class. The next two years were spent in a frenzy of serious, secret make out and mutual-masturbation sessions.

After graduation, Sam went to UCLA where he studied Law Enforcement, and when I went the next year, I went to the Film school. Sam and I roomed together in the dorms, and in celebration of our first night together, we finally had actual sex for the first time. Sam must have gotten some practice in during that first year, because he sure had some great moves, and I'm not talking about sports!

If I learned nothing else during our three years together in college, I did discover that I am a complete and total bottom when it comes to getting fucked, and I love giving head!

Don't as me how, but we somehow managed to keep our families from finding out that we were gay until the start of the next year. I would be lying if I said that everything went okay. Naturally our families were upset, but I think the fact that we were "away" at school, helped things eventually settle down. Another thing that helped was Sam and I ourselves.

Sam is six foot one, and while he may look like a male model, he's nicely built. Years of sports in middle and high school gave him a nicely toned body. Short brown hair, blue eyes, a slightly crooked nose, and a killer smile ensure that he gets plenty of attention from both sexes.

I, on the other hand, look like the typical "boy next door". I'm five-nine with slightly curly black hair that's just a bit on the long side, and brown eyes. Like Sam, I owe my slightly crooked nose to a high school sports related break. Everything else, I credit to good genes. Well, that, eating right and exercise.

I must admit that there is a "beefcake" photo of me floating around out there. It was taken in my junior year of college for a campus calendar. Sam is in there too, but I have to admit, I look more relaxed in my picture than he does in his. Well, less serious anyways.

So anyways, after graduation, Sam entered the police academy, and I finished school, and went to work for one of the major studio's, which pretty much brings us up to date.

All in all, this shoot had been a blast. It was just like old times for us four kids. Alot of work had been done on location in and around Crozet Virginia, where the series takes place, and Rita Mae Brown had done the screen plays herself, and was a constant on the set behind the scenes. Quite a few of the cast members were from the daytime ranks, and pretty much knew their lines, and everyone else's, within a month of the start of production. The producer was also a veteran of daytime, and so knew how to move things along quickly. There were also a number of "big name stars" involved. Paul Walker, Jake Gyllenhaal, Charlize Theron, Josh Duhamel, my mother. Aaron Eckhart, Betty White. Betty had been a last minute casting decision when Gloria Stuart had had to back out suddenly. It proved to be a rather brilliant decision in light of her recent rise in popularity.

My job was done. Now it was all in the editor's hands. With a shooting schedule of eighteen months, the first film had been completed and edited months ago, and was now due out in theatres sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, if not sooner!

For myself, I personally was looking forward to going home to L.A. to my new apartment. My apartment which I had not seen in over six months, but which my mother had offered to furnish as my birthday present. I had taken a two bedroom, two and a half bath apartment on the seventeenth floor of the Sunset Vine Tower, which meant I was assured of having an apartment with a balcony, along with the other three apartments on that floor.

When I was done packing up the last of the camera equipment, I made sure it was loaded onto the semi and then headed back to the house I had been sharing with Zak, Sebastian, and Casey to pack up my stuff so I was ready to head home after the wrap party.

"Levi." I turned at the sound of my mother's voice. "I've been hearing this rumor all night that you're throwing a second wrap party in L.A.?"

"Yeah, me too, and I wish I knew who had started it," I sighed.

"Hey One Night!" I didn't even blink at the shouted nickname. My mother simply smirked and raised an eyebrow at me.

"Hey Josh!" I shouted as I turned around to see Josh approaching, his arm draped over his wife's shoulder.

"Honey, I'd like you to meet the next great cinematographer, and the guy who made me look so good on film, Levi, aka, 'One Night', Stand. And this lovely lady needs no introduction, but I'll do it anyways, Lorna Devon."

In platform stiletto's, Stacy Ferguson was nearly as tall as I was. I stuck out my hand. "Nice to meet you. I really liked the group's new album," I said, referring to The Black Eyed Peas, "and actually since Casey was in charge of make-up, she was the one responsible for making everyone look so good, I just caught everything on film."

"Nice to meet you too. Ms. Devon, I'm a huge fan. I loved you in 'Some Hidden Thunder'," Stacy said, naming the role that had won my mother an Oscar five years ago.

"And I think you should have gotten nominated for Best Original Song for 'Poseidon'," my mother said as they shook hands. Looking at everyone's hands, Lorna asked, "Refills?"

We all agreed, and before I could excuse myself to go help, Lorna had slipped her arm through Joshes, and said, "since I don't know what y'all were having to drink, you can come along and tell the bartender's," as she led him away.

"I truly believe that my dad never knew what hit him, when they met. I don't think she did either, since they were married three months later..." I said as I watched them work their way through the crowd to the bar.

"Okay, I just have to ask... 'One Night Stand'?" Stacy wanted to know.

"Old college nickname that stuck. Zak and Casey use Lorna's last name, and Sebastian and I use our father's. Anyway, it was my sophomore year, and some guy, a senior I think, thought it would be funny to call Lorna Devon's son 'One Night Stand'. Well, like I said, the name stuck, but the only one's who kept it up were the students in my film classes. Totally not what you expecting, was it?" I asked, as I looked over at her...

Jake's POV

"Just go over and talk to him! You know you've wanted to, pretty much since the start of production," I teased him. We were standing across the room watching as the camera man stood chatting with Fergie.

"You're a real prick, Gyllenhaal, anyone ever tell you that?" he said. "Okay, so what do we talk about, genius?"

"Duh! Work, what else? You're going to be working on a film together again next year, right?"

"Oh. Yeah!" he said, his whole face lighting up suddenly.

"Oh jeez, do I have to do everything? C'mon!" I said, grabbing his arm through his jacket and propelling him across the room...

Levi's POV

"So I understand we'll be working together?" Stacy was asking just as Lorna and Josh returned with our drinks at the same time Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Walker walked over.

"That's what I hear," Paul said as he stuck out his hand. "Levi, right?"

"Yes, nice to meet you," I said as I grasped his hand, and felt like I had been struck by lightening, his cool blue eyes never leaving mine. And then he was letting go of my hand to shake hands with Lorna, Stacy, and Josh. What the hell was that?!?

What the HELL was That!?!?!
