Chapter Eight

Revealing Hate

Danny

Once everyone was back home, we all sat in the living room visiting after I helped get things organized then put away. We also decided what to do for dinner, and we decided on pizza. Josh liked that, and I was really looking forward to it as well! After we decided on the menu, I went with Josh back to our room. Jason followed us back, and we all sat watching a few music videos on YouTube.

We sat talking for a while as well, and I was glad to see how well Josh and Jason were continuing to get along. Jason was definitely accepting of Josh, as well as the specific ways in which Josh needed to be dealt when it came to being careful of certain loud noises and other things. Eventually though, Jason said that he wanted to call Heather, the girl he had been talking to.

"How's that going?" I asked as he stood up.

"I think I like her more as a friend rather than a girlfriend," Jason answered. "We've talked a little about dating, but I'd be alright with it staying just friends between us. Everything just feels easier with her, and I'm finding that I don't really think of her romantically or sexually. I don't mean that she's unattractive, she's definitely good-looking, but it's not enough for me to want to take things further."

"Will you let her know that soon?" Josh asked.

"Yeah, here soon," Jason replied.

"I hope that conversation goes well," I said.

"Me too," Jason responded as he left the room closing the door behind him.

It was nearing 5:00 P.M., and Mom ordered the pizza a couple of minutes before then. She ordered one pizza with everything, and that was mainly for her and Martha to share. Jason, Josh and I had a Meat Lovers. Kelven would be coming over as well, and he would be having some of the Meat Lovers Pizza also.

Once the food arrived, we all sat down to eat. It was all really good, and I was glad to be there among my friends and family. After we finished up, I returned to my room with Josh. Kelven followed us back so he could give me a Metal CD he told me that he had picked up for me. Sitting down behind my desk, I turned my chair to face him while Josh lay down on my bed watching us.

"This is Therion's album Gothic Kabbalah," Kelven said handing me the package. "I know you said that you hadn't gotten this album yet, and so I figured I'd pick it up for you as an early Birthday gift. So Happy Early Birthday."

"Thanks, I really do appreciate that!" I said standing up then sharing a hug with him.

"You're welcome, and I hope you like it," he responded as we separated.

"I'm sure I will," I said.

I did have a couple of songs from the album on my music player, but not the whole thing, so I really was happy that Kelven got that for me! Setting it aside for the moment, I watched as Kelven returned to the kitchen to give Josh and I some time alone. Standing up, I walked over and closed my bedroom door. I then went over to the bed.

"Do you mind if I join you?" I asked.

"I'd really like that," Josh answered scooting over.

Lying down beside him, I turned on my side to face him. Josh immediately scooted up close to me, and I gently took him into my arms. He cuddled up to me, resting his head in the hollow of my neck as I held him. We lay there talking for a while, then soon it was time for him to go.

Once out in the living room, I said goodbye to him as we shared a hug. After Kate and I said goodbye, they were gone. Returning to my room, I felt sad without him. I wished Josh could have spent the night, and I wondered if he felt the same way.

Josh

Once back home, Josh showered, then sat watching TV with Connor and Kate. As he sat there, he found his mind returning frequently to Danny Evans and their time together earlier. He wished his friend was there with him right now, and he missed him a lot! Soon though, Josh felt his eyelids growing heavy. He let Connor and Kate know that he was ready to get to bed. It was almost 11:00 P.M., so it was getting late. Once in his bed, both Kate and Connor took turns saying good night to him, and after Connor walked to the door, he turned off the light then shut the door. It didn't take Josh long to fall asleep.

0000

Josh awoke a couple of hours later from a nightmare the contents of which he couldn't remember. He remembered the dream featured Jacob though. It wasn't an actual memory of anything that had happened, but it was still a horrible dream anyway. The only thing Josh remembered for sure was that it involved Jacob being mean to him. Once back in bed, Josh remembered back to the rest of Jacob's time with him.

0000

It was now January of 2023. Jacob was still continuing his deception towards Josh, and Josh clearly believed that Jacob loved him. As the month continued on though, Jacob decided to manipulate Josh into doing something else for him. The idea came to him one day after school as he and his friend group sat outside the school waiting on the bus. Josh wasn't with them on this particular Thursday, and it was then that Jacob got the idea.

One way Jacob figured he could make more money to add to the already-large fortune his family had, was to sell drugs. He could sometimes get a few kids to do it for him. He could find kids who were easily persuaded to go along with him, but not too many. He knew as he thought about it more, that Josh was the perfect person he could get to deliver the drugs for him, and not ask questions about it. He would have Josh collect the money, then give it back to him. Add in Josh's difficulty with knowing when he was given a line of Bullshit, then he was the most perfect fall guy, especially if something went wrong. Jacob could say that Josh made the whole thing up. Turning to his friends, he told them what he wanted to do.

"Besides, aren't you guys tired of the sobor life every day?" he asked.

"I know I am," Ben answered.

"Good, glad to hear that," Jacob said.

Once he got Josh at his house that weekend, he told Josh his own version of it that Saturday night once they were in Jacob's room.

"Hey Josh, how would you like to help me with something?" Jacob said laying down beside him.

"What is it?" Josh asked.

"Well, I have a few of my friends who really like this special candy, but it's hard to get," Jacob said. "It's a rare and really valuable type of candy. I'll have to get it, but I don't have a lot of time in my busy schedule to get it to everyone who needs it. If I can get a lot of it to my friends who want it, I can make a lot more money as well. I could use some of that to buy a special gift for you."

"You'd do that for me?" Josh asked smiling. "That would be really cool!"

"I figured you'd say that," Jacob asked smiling in his mind. "Could you help me with it? I would just need you to go to where the guys would pick up the candy. You would just drop it off, take the money and give it back to me. It would be the perfect plan, and I could do what I need to do during that time while I would wait on you to get the money."

"I'd love to help you out," Josh said. "Do you think I could have some of the candy as well? I mean, is it like chocolate or something like that?"

"It's really special flavors, but the texture might not be one you'd like," Jacob answered. "It's kind of gritty and I know you don't like some candies that are that way."

"Oh, okay," Josh said, slightly disappointed, but glad that he wouldn't have to try it if it was the texture Jacob said it was.

Josh began helping Jacob that up-coming week, and he took the packages to one of the more dangerous areas of the town. He knew it wasn't a nice area just by looking at it. Houses and apartment buildings stood with most of their windows boarded up. Broken glass littered the ground on either side of the structures, and in the front area of one of the apartment buildings, there were several piles of trash. As Josh passed one house, he saw several rats fighting over a mound of rotted food next to a trash can. Finally, Josh reached the area he was told one of the guys would meet him to take the package.

After a couple more minutes, Josh saw a car come into view. A well-dressed young man got out of the back of it and walked up to where Josh stood.

"I'm Rick," the man said. "You have the package for me? You're sure you have all of it?"

"I have all of it," Josh answered handing it to him. "I didn't eat any of it. Jacob said I probably wouldn't like the texture of it."

"Texture?" Rick asked giving a contemptuous smile. "What the fuck are you talking about?"

"I'm talking about the candy you just took so you could give me the money," Josh said amused. "Jacob said I couldn't eat any of it when I asked him a few days ago. He said I might not like the texture of it. I have Autism, and some textures of foods can cause sensory issues for me."

Rick thought for a moment, then he smiled. Understanding clicked in his head, and he had to restrain himself hard to not laugh deeply. He immediately knew what was going on here. Jacob managed to get a lot of Dumb Asses to do his dirty work, but this kid took the cake.

"Oh kid, you're so fucking easy," Rick said smiling wider now. "You're so fucking screwed too."

"What?" Josh asked.

"I mean, you could get in to trouble in this area of town if you're not careful," Rick said holding out an envelope. "This is for Jacob. It's only for him. To make it easier for you to understand, you're not to open this fucking envelope for anyone. Do you understand?"

"Yeah," Josh said now unnerved by Rick's tone. "I understand, and I wouldn't open it."

"I hope not," Rick said as he returned to the car and drove off.

Josh continued on unknowingly handing out the packages to Rick, then to other kids some of who were Jacob's friends. A couple of the friends were Ben and a few others who made fun of Josh his first day at their school.

Things continued on like this until early April of 2023. Unfortunately, Josh was tired that Friday when he took the package from Jacob down to one of the houses on the other side of town. Walking along, Josh was struggling to focus on walking. He hadn't slept well the night before, and all that day was like trying to move through glue. As Josh was only a couple of blocks from the house, he tripped and fell. The package dropped and got caught on a rock sticking up lodged in a crack in the side walk ripping it open. Josh saw the bags of white powder, and he looked at them for a long moment. As he sat there staring at them, he heard a siren, then a car pulling up to where he was struggling to stand. He was also trying to make sense of what the bags of powder meant. Josh hadn't ever seen drugs before, so he had no reason to know what they looked like first-hand.

"I thought the candy would be pieces of hard candy," he thought as he heard the door of the car open then close.

Foot steps neared where Josh stood, and he saw a police officer walking up to him.

"Looks like you fell," the officer who's name tag read Officer Johnson read. "I saw you on the ground a moment ago. Oh, and what's that there on the ground next to you?"

"Josh moved to pick it up.

"Don't touch it," Officer Johnson said in a sharp tone of voice. "How long have you been selling drugs here in this area?"

"What?" Josh asked shocked. "That stuff isn't drugs. It's candy. I was just taking it to different people one of my friends knows so they could give me the money to give back to him."

"Really?" Johnson asked pulling out an evidence bag and bagging up the drugs. "That sounds like drug-dealing to me. How long have you been dealing here in this area?"

"I told you I wasn't doing anything like that," Josh said getting worried now. He had no idea what this guy was talking about, and he didn't like how this guy was acting towards him.

"Look at this!" Johnson shouted, then held the bag of drugs just inches from Josh's face. "How does that fucking look like candy to you! It's a couple of bags of white powder and brown powder, probably Cocaine and Heroin! What did you think it was, white and brown sugar! I can't believe you're that clueless!"

"My friend Jacob told me it was candy, and that if I could give it to the people he asked me to, then it would help him out," Josh explained getting scared now. "He told me to bring the money back to him, and that it would really help him out!"

You mentioned a name of Jacob," Johnson said getting out his hand cuffs. "Jacob who?"

"Jacob Smith, my best friend," Josh said as Johnson moved behind him.

"Jacob Smith!" Johnson exclaimed sounding shocked. "You mean that kid who's the captain of the Football team at Philips High? I find that hard to believe. His dad is good friends with a couple of my fellow officers, and I've seen Jacob around town several times. No, he wouldn't ever be involved in anything like that. Come on, I'm taking you in."

"What!" Josh exclaimed moving away from Officer Johnson without realizing it. "Taking me in where?"

Officer Johnson immediately grabbed Josh's wrists pulling them quickly behind his back and cuffing him just as fast.

Checking Josh's back pockets, Johnson found his wallet which contained Josh's State ID along with a card giving a quick description of his Autism.

"Josh Gibson, you're under arrest for possession with intent to distribute," Officer Johnson announced as he turned Josh around to face the police car. After reading him his rights, he forced Josh towards the car, then got him inside.

Once at the station, Officer Johnson questioned Josh when he got him into one of the interview rooms. It was after 4:00 P.M. that Friday afternoon, and for the next several hours, Officer Johnson made Josh tell his story over and over interrupting with various questions. He tried being nice to him, yelling then threatening him. Finally, around 11:00 P.M., two other officers joined, and together all of them took turns telling Josh that if he didn't admit to dealing drugs, then they'd make sure that he went to prison for ever.

"I can tell that you're someone who's never been to prison before," Officer Johnson said. "That's correct, isn't it? You've not spent any time in Prison?"

"No sir," Josh said close to tears again.

"You know what they do to baby-faced boys like you in there?" Johnson asked leaning just inches from Josh's face. "They fucking rip boys like you up in there. They make little Faggots like you their Bitches! They make them give them their cheeks when ever and where ever they want. They make them take it up the ass in other words."

"So, you're going to stick with your story?" Officer Nelson, the second officer asked.

"I told you what Jacob told me," Josh said sobbing now. "I didn't think they were drugs!"

"Sometimes retards like you don't always know what certain people are saying when they use different words," Officer Harrison the third officer spoke up. "Do you think that could be it? Maybe Jacob was calling it Candy just to get you to agree to it?"

At this point, Harrison could care less. He just wanted to get this little Retarded freak charged, put in lock-up and the case filed so he could get the hell home for the night!

"That could be," Josh said completely confused, scared and exhausted now.

"You wanted to help him out since you're a good friend," Officer Nelson said softly and understandingly.

"So you helped him, and didn't think to ask any questions," Officer Johnson said a little more calm now. "Only thing is, I still don't believe that Jacob Smith was involved. Maybe you're blaming him so that you don't have to admit that you're a drug dealer. Well let me tell you something Gibson, I don't fucking like little shits like you who deal drugs! I've seen what that shit does to people, and I won't have degenerate little Retarded Faggots like you spreading that fucking Cancer throughout this god-damn town. Do you understand me!"

Johnson was pounding the table as he leaned just inches from Josh's face. "Do you fucking hear me! You don't tell me what I want to know, and the god-damn truth this time, I'll make sure you're sent to prison, and I'll see to it that you're placed in with one of the most sex-starved guys in there!"

"It doesn't have to be that way Josh," Officer Nelson said softly in that tone that suggested that he was one of Josh's friends. "I can understand you not wanting to be thought of as someone who sells drugs. We can help you though. We can put in a good word with the courts so you might get only probation."

"What do you say Josh?" Officer Harrison asked in a similar tone of voice.

Josh's head was pounding, the lights were way too bright and he felt like he could pass out at any moment. Officer Johnson held out a stack of papers in front of him.

"Just sign here," Officer Johnson ordered. "This is a request for the judge to go easy on you."

"We'll file it just as soon as we leave in a few minutes," Officer Nelson added.

Josh signed, then Officers Nelson and Harrison took him out of the room. Officer Johnson closed the door then sat down behind the desk. Typing up the forced confession didn't take long, and with Josh's name already on it, the case would be dealt with soon. As for Jacob, there would be no questioning. Johnson would make sure of that. As far as he was concerned, they already had their man. Jacob Smith was just a red herring Josh threw out there to take the focus off of himself. Johnson saw shit like this all the time.

Josh's parents didn't show up until the next morning. They had been called early on that evening when Josh had been brought in, but they said that he could stay in jail. They eventually came by later that day, and told him that he wouldn't be coming home. He stayed there until Monday at which point he was let out on bond.

Josh met with the courts later that week, and the judge sentenced him to two-days in jail in a punishment that he had come up with a couple of officers several months ago. It was a sort of Scared-Straight program, and he used it mainly on kids who were into things like selling drugs and other similar crimes. Josh was sent there that up-coming Monday, and for that day and for the next day he was yelled at by the guards, and screamed at by various inmates. He was told all the usual things of what could happen to someone like him in a place like that, as well as how shameful it must be for his parents to have a son like him.

On Wednesday, the next day he was let out, and brought before the judge. It was the same judge he had been brought before the week before who's name was Judge Black.

"I'll be adding an additional feature to your sentence," Judge Black began once the court was called to order. "I don't know if you think you can just go around doing whatever the hell you want to do, but whatever the case, I won't stand for your nonsense. I already gave you the two days in jail with the inmates and guards talking with you. Now I'll give you the final punishment. I'm sentencing you to five years of probation. The terms are that if you go back to selling drugs even one time, then the probation will be revoked and you'll go immediately to prison to serve the rest of the sentence."

After the court was cleared, Josh's parents took him home. When he was allowed to go to school the next day, Jacob took him to his house that day once classes were over.

"Sorry to hear about everything you've been going through," Jacob said once they were in his room.

"You said that was candy," Josh said looking at Jacob as Jacob operated the controllers on his play station. "They told me those were drugs! I wouldn't have ever sold drugs! Why did you lie to me!"

Jacob was up and on him in a flash. He slammed Josh on the bed and rained several blows down on his shoulders, then he slapped him two times across the face.

"Now you listen to me you little Faggot!" Jacob screamed in his face. "You want to make bad choices like that, then go ahead! You're not going to blame me for when they go wrong though! You're fucking talking crazy like usual, and I don't want to fucking hear it!"

"Get off me!" Josh yelled shoving hard causing Jacob to lose his balance as he fell back on to the floor. Big mistake.

Jacob got up and pounced on Josh rapping his hands around his throat and squeezing hard. Josh couldn't breathe, and Jacob held on for a long moment.

"Now you listen to me you disgusting little Retard!" Jacob growled in his face. "You keep acting like you are, I'll fix you good! If you keep giving me shit, I'll find you and I'll cut out your fucking throat! Do you understand me!"

Releasing Josh's throat, Jacob moved off of him.

"Why Jacob!" Josh struggled to say as he sobbed and struggled to breathe at the same time. "Why are you being mean to me! I'm just trying to make you happy! I'm just trying to be a good boyfriend to you!"

"Then do it in the way you know I like it," Jacob said motioning down at Josh's pants. "Give me that ass, now! It's been a long time!"

During the rest of that week, Josh struggled through his classes. The only bright spot in his day since earlier that year in late November was a girl named Keyla Jonas who had started attending classes at the school. Sometimes when Josh would be eating outside, she would join him. The first time she saw him though was when she first arrived at the school. Josh was sitting at one of the tables in the cafeteria waiting for the first period bell to ring. He was the only one at the table, and he had a stuffed dog in his hand that he was talking to. He looked sad, and really tired. Keyla knew what it was like to feel that way. She had been transferred to that school from another one due to having been bullied by some of the students. She didn't want this boy to feel that way.

"Hi, I'm Keyla," she said once at Josh's table.

"I'm Josh," he said looking up at her.

"I'm new here, and I wanted to introduce myself," she said. "I saw you sitting over here, and was wondering if I could join you."

"You can," Josh said.

They talked for the rest of that lunch period, and the next day as well. It didn't take her long to see Jacob and how he treated Josh. Keyla didn't see anything that suggested that they were boyfriends, and this made her even more confused as to why Josh would say that Jacob was his friend. She could hear the contemptuous tone in Jacob's voice when he would talk to Josh, and it bothered her about how Josh couldn't see it.

Finally, in late February, Keyla told Josh about her concerns. The day before, she had seen Josh and Jacob several feet away as she was headed to one of the other buildings for another class. She saw Jacob grab Josh and he had a threatening look as he leaned in close saying something to Josh that she couldn't hear. Unfortunately, she didn't get time for the rest of that day to ask Josh about it, but now she had a chance.

The weather was cool, but not so cold that they couldn't sit outside. Josh and Keyla sat on the grass far enough away from the building so that no one could hear them. They always liked this spot, since it was quieter and hardly anyone came near it. Keyla put down her drink, then told Josh what she saw.

"Jacob isn't really that bad," Josh said. "He wouldn't actually hurt me. Sometimes I guess I do have trouble keeping up with what he's saying."

"Josh I really don't like how he's treating you," Keyla said taking hold of his hand. "He knows you have Autism, and so have trouble with certain things. He should be understanding about that. From what I saw yesterday, he wasn't and probably hasn't been for a long time. Also, you've told me about a few things he's said to you a while back where he blamed you for what had happened."

"I probably didn't understand what he was talking about," Josh responded. "Like this one time when Jacob told me to order pizza for him, and he said get everything. I did, but once it came, he got mad because it had green peppers on it. I told him that he said get everything on it, but he basically screamed at me that he didn't want the green peppers on it. Then he hit me. I tried to tell him that I ordered the pizza like he wanted, and he said that I was basically crazy."

"I really don't like this," Keyla said putting an arm around Josh's shoulders. "You don't need someone like Jacob. Do you really think an actual friend would treat you like that."

Josh began to understand what she was talking about, and he felt tears fill his eyes.

"He's supposed to be my boyfriend," Josh said starting to cry. "He just acts so mean to me most of the time though. I try to do everything I can to make him happy, but it seems like it isn't enough."

Keyla was starting to think she knew what was going on, and she was horrified!

"How long have you and him been together?" she asked holding him in her arms now.

"Since November," Josh said still crying.

"You deserve a boyfriend who won't treat you bad," Keyla said stroking his hair. "What Jacob is doing isn't how a person should show love to someone else. How he's treating you is wrong, and I won't put up with it. You're my best friend, and I really care about you."

"You're my best friend too Keyla," Josh said as his tears eased up.

Unfortunately, Jacob was able to talk Josh out of what Keyla said when Josh talked to him later that day as they walked back to Jacob's house. Once back home though, Jacob gave Josh a beating more intense than what he had given before! He then told Josh that he'd fuck him up good if he tried anything like that again!

Now as April slowly drew to a close, Jacob was ending his deception of Josh. He sat down Ben, Mary, Sarah and the rest of his friend group that warm Monday afternoon, and told them how everything turned out. He let them know that Josh was easier to fuck with than he ever could have imagined. They smiled after he finished the whole story minus the actual rape he perpetrated on Josh.

"Fucking Hell, bro!" Ben said laughing. "I can't believe you totally fooled that retarded little fucker! You should be given an award for that!"

"Nice going!" Mary added.

"Yeah, I knew I could do it," Jacob said. "Now you guys have some money for me I believe."

0000

Keyla stood in the bushes listening on that warm April Wednesday. She had arrived there when walking by on her way to lunch. It was as she stopped to check her phone that she heard Jacob start telling what he had to say. As she listened, she stood there with her phone in her hand still on Do Not Disturb Mode completely forgotten! She knew that Jacob was leaving out the sexual assaults, but that didn't matter! The whole thing had been a set-up right from the start!

"Oh my god, Josh will be destroyed by this!" Keyla thought as she stood there making sure to stay as quiet as possible.

Looking over at the group, she saw each of them give money to Jacob as he pocketed it smiling widely. They turned once Jacob thanked them and left. Jacob then turned walking in another direction to go to another area of the school.

"Those Bastards!" Keyla thought as rage flooded her mind!

0000

"Josh! I have to talk to you!" Keyla said as Josh sat down at the usual table they shared in the lunch room.

Once outside far away from the building, she told him everything she heard. Josh looked at her for a long moment, then just stood there for several seconds.

"It's not true, maybe you misheard what they were talking about," he said still calmly. "I don't think Jacob would be that mean to me."

"Josh, I saw them pull out money to give to him, and I just told you word-for-word what they said, especially Jacob! He lied to you, he used you! This was a set-up right from the start! Josh, he's dangerous! Now that he got what he wanted, who knows what he'll do to you! Please, let me help you get away from him! You already said that your parents wouldn't ever understand you being gay much less this thing you had going on with Jacob! I can help you find someone else to live with! I know a few people in my family who can help with that!"

"Jacob wouldn't hurt me!" Josh said, but now he was unsure. He could see that Keyla was close to tears, and now he thought back about when Jacob suddenly started hanging out with him, and especially about how when he said he loved Jacob. He remembered how Jacob would never say it back, and how he would always say that Josh was either crazy or didn't know what he was talking about. "He wouldn't ever do anything like that to me Keyla!"

Josh said it more loudly and angrily than he meant to, and now he did his best to calm down. "I'm sorry Keyla!"

He was close to tears now. He didn't want to hurt Keyla who was more of a friend than anyone else had ever been, especially Jacob. Now if what she was saying was true, then she really was the only friend he had.

"It's okay, and I understand," Keyla said as she hugged him.

Josh was crying now, and his body shook with sobs.

"I thought he loved me!" he said crying harder now. "I thought he'd be the one I'd get married to! I was going to be the best boyfriend and husband someday to him that I could possibly be! I would tell him that all the time! Now it makes sense why he would always act like he did every time I'd say stuff like that, and after I'd tell him I loved him! I thought we'd get a house together when we got to be adults, and that we could be happy with each other!"

Keyla was broken-hearted as she stood there holding Josh. She knew from spending the time with him that she did that Josh loved, and loved deeply. She knew that especially with how he felt about her, always wanting to know how she was doing, and sometimes giving her small gifts. Mostly they were pictures he would draw, but one time he gave her a rock he found in the back yard of his house. It was a small white rock that was smooth all over. He told her that she could keep it and that she could remember him when ever she held it in her hand. That really touched her.

Thinking back on that, she couldn't believe that someone like this boy she held was being treated like he was. He hadn't done anything to anyone! He deserved better than any of this! Soon Josh was done crying, and he dried his eyes.

"I'll sit down with Jacob and figure this out," Josh said, calmer now. "If he tries to tell me any crap like what he has been doing, then I'll just leave. I'll let you know how everything goes. Okay?"

"Josh!" Jacob called from a few feet away.

"Josh no, please just stay away from him!" Keyla said as she saw Jacob walking towards them. "Please just come home with me! My Aunt, Uncle and I can help you!"

"It'll be alright Keyla," Josh said as he hugged her. "I'll let you know how it goes. I'll stand up to him, okay?"

"Josh, please!" she said, as he let go of her. He waved as he ran to catch up with Jacob who was yelling for Josh more impatiently now!

"Josh!" she called out one more time losing control as she started crying. "Damn it!"

She angrily swiped at her eyes as she used her other hand to get out her phone. She wasn't angry at Josh, but she was enraged at Jacob for what he had done to him.

"Oh god what the fuck do I do now!" she thought as she ran to go back to class.

"What did that little Bitch want!" Jacob yelled once he shoved Josh through the door of his house slamming then locking the door. "I've seen that little Slut hanging around you several times. What the fuck did she want!"

"You don't call her that!" Josh yelled back truly angry now! Keyla's not a Slut! She's my friend! She's been my only friend as it turns out! She knows how to be a friend! You don't! She told me what you and your friends did Jacob! I can't believe you would do that to me! I loved you! I thought you were my friend, and also my boyfriend!"

Jacob stood there eyeing Josh coldly, then he smiled.

"What are you going to do Josh?" Jacob asked stepping close to him. "If you think you're so fucking tough, then tell me. What do you plan on doing to me?"

"I'll make sure that Keyla helps me!" Josh yelled shoving Jacob back from him. "She said her and her mom would help me!"

"You're fucking full of shit you little Faggot," Jacob said laughing hatefully. "You want to know why?"

"You're lying!" Josh yelled face flushed with rage now!

"Josh, I made recordings of us fucking this whole time," Jacob said smiling.

Unknown to Josh, Jacob had put hidden cameras in his room carefully placed so that Josh wouldn't know they were there, and he set them up so that he would hardly be visible in view. It would be mainly Josh who would be in full view. It was protection for just this kind of scenario.

Josh stood there trying to process what Jacob had just said.

"What?" Josh asked shocked now!

"That's right," Jacob said. "I have the recordings so I can use them if you try to get me in trouble. I made sure that the cameras wouldn't capture me, and since it's mainly you the cameras shot footage of, it'll look like you were behind it. Even if people believe it was me, most people at the school think you're a fucking freak anyway. They'll think you were making child pornography. In case you don't know, that kind of shit is illegal. Did you know that? You'll go to jail again, just like when you got arrested for selling drugs."

That took the fight out of Josh quickly! He didn't know much about what Jacob was talking about when it came to legalities of pornography, but hearing the very mention of jail was enough to send him into a full panic!

"No!" Josh yelled. "I don't want to go back to jail! Please don't send me back there! Please!"

"Then keep your fucking mouth shut!" Jacob yelled, shoving Josh back from him. "Oh, and you and I, we're done. I want you to get the fuck out of my house. Get out, and I don't want to see you! Not ever again! At school, you fucking walk on by when you see me and my friends! Oh, and we're not boyfriends, we never were! You were good for being used though, I can definitely say that! I knew you could be taken in easily; I just didn't know how easy it would be. Now go on, get the fuck out."

Josh stood there completely shocked as he carefully watched Jacob, then he turned walking towards the door. He opened it, then left struggling to not cry.

It was almost 6:00 P.M. that evening as Josh walked along. He was far from his own home, and he knew that his own parents would be gone. It wasn't like they would be missing him or anything. Jacob was gone, and as he walked along Josh realized how alone he truly was. He held his stuff dog Ronny to his chest as he walked along trying to figure out what to do next. Finally, he got to a bench that was a few blocks away from his house and sat down as he started crying again.

"Where do we go now Ronny?" he said holding the stuffed dog a little tighter as he cried struggling to speak softly. "My parents aren't around much, and when they are they yell at me all the time. Jacob was just using me, and no one else would ever take us in! I don't think this world was made for people like us."

After a few more minutes, Josh got out his phone to call Keyla, but there was no answer. He tried a few minutes later, but still nothing. Putting the phone away, Josh got up and went back home for the evening.

"Okay, do you have everything we need?" Jacob asked.

He sat on the edge of his bed on the phone with Ben. It was around 9:00 P.M. just a few hours after he told Josh to get out of his house. He was now putting into motion a plan that would be the final ruination of Josh. It would also protect him from anything Josh would try to say about him.

"I have the files you sent," Ben answered.

"Good," Jacob responded.

The files of which they spoke were the recordings Jacob had which showed him and Josh in bed. Jacob was having Ben who was the more tech-experienced member of their friend group hack into the school computer network. He would be hiding the files in a separate partition of the mainframe's hard drive. There would be a school dance to close out the year. It would be on a Friday evening on the second-to-the-last week of school. Everyone including Jacob and his friends had heard about it.

As Jacob thought more about the dance, that's when he got the idea. He would put the files of him and Josh in with the rest of the video clips that showed highlights of the school year. Once he would have Ben do it after deciding on him for the job, everyone would get the shock of their lives, but Josh would be the most shocked.

Returning to where he was now, Josh did his best to wipe his mind clear of the memories. Thinking about Danny Evans helped, and he imagined him there beside him in his bed. He thought about Danny holding him in his arms as he fell asleep in them. It didn't take him hardly any time at all now to fall asleep for the rest of the evening.

Sunday was a dark and rainy day, and the rain hadn't stopped yet. I stayed back while Danny went to church. Martha and I had been watching TV, and Jennifer was out getting groceries to make our Sunday dinner for that day. I was definitely looking forward to that as was everyone else.

After our show ended, I stood up to get a drink from the kitchen. Martha wanted a Coke as well, so I got her one. Returning to the living room, I heard my phone sound with an in-coming text alert.

"Interesting," I said picking up my phone. "It's either Danny telling us that Kelven is bringing him back home, or I'm being tasked with running to the store to get something Jennifer forgot."

"So much for you lazing around the house today," Martha said smirking at me.

"I'm glad you find this funny," I shot back laughing. "Yeah, it's your mom. She needs me to run to the store to get a 12-pack of Coke. I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Okay," Martha answered as I left.

I got my ice cream cone, and walked along trying to put everything out of my mind. I had been living in Sangger for a little over seven months, and the trauma was still fresh as if it had happened Yesterday. I was living with my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Roman. They took me in back when I left the town in where I was living back then, and I was grateful for that. Life with my parents had been horrible, but spending time with my best friend all those months ago at my old school made things somewhat tolerable. Having my best friend with me made me forget how traumatic it could be living under my family's roof. Unfortunately, I moved away just as things were getting really bad for my friend. Worse still, I was kicked out of my house, and my aunt and uncle came immediately to pick me up.

The night it happened was the day after my friend had learned what his so-called best friend had done to him. I was kicked out the next day, my aunt and uncle came quickly as I mentioned. The up-shot was that I couldn't go to my best friend's house to say goodbye. That hurt a lot. He truly loved me, and I worried if he had been wondering all this time if I had forgotten about him. I loved him just as much, and I hated seeing what he had gone through.

When I came to live with Aunt Lisa and Uncle Roman, I adjusted somewhat, but had a lot of psychological shit to process. They were truly supportive, and I was more fortunate that when my parents tried several times to turn them against me, they saw it for what it really was. They didn't buy into their Bullshit. It still was stressful and terrifying when they would call and try starting shit. Sometimes my Aunt Lisa would grab the phone away from me while either my mom or dad would be screaming non-stop. She would hang it up, and that was something for which I was truly grateful.

Returning to my current surroundings, I had to work hard on letting go of my rage. My dad had called earlier that day, and he tried starting a lot of shit with Uncle Roman, and from what I could hear from the other room which was only Roman's side of the conversation, it was clear that my dad was trying to talk some Bullshit about me. After slamming down the phone, I came in to check on my uncle. He said he would be fine, and I talked with him for a few minutes. After that, he held out some money, and said that I could feel free to get some ice cream. Obviously, he was making an exception. Sunday Dinner was a big thing at our house, and normally dessert of any kind was for after. There was also the fact that we wouldn't be eating until 3:00 P.M., and Aunt Lisa wouldn't be back until 1:00 P.M. It was after 11:00 A.M. when all Hell broke loose, so that made it easier for Uncle Roman to make that exception. Thanking him, I left to get my pre-lunch dessert.

As I walked along cone in hand, I thought back to when Uncle Roman yelled at my dad. I didn't understand why that Bastard couldn't just leave us alone.

"Fucking abusive Son of a Bitch!" I said struggling to keep my voice down.

"Damn, I could have gotten a candy bar along with the Cokes," I thought, then was ripped out of my thoughts when I felt something cold splatter all over my shirt.

"What the fuck!" I yelled surprised!

Though my coat was on, I had it unzipped, so my shirt definitely caught most of whatever it was.

"Oh god, I'm so sorry!" a boyish voice said, then I looked up.

A small blond boy stood in front of me face completely red, and he looked deeply upset.

"My shirt is soaked!" I yelled now feeling the cold, and now I was starting to shiver. "Wait, is this ice cream?"

"Yeah, I was distracted, and clearly didn't see you in front of me!" the boy said sounding more upset. "I really am sorry! I have a lot going on, and we had a problem at home, so I went out to get some ice cream! Well, now you have the majority of it."

I struggled to not be angry with this boy who truly did sound upset, and like he wanted to help. He did apologize once more, and I held out my hand.

"It's alright," I said. "I'll just go home and change my shirt. It'll be fine. This shirt isn't a fancy one by any means. It just shocked me, and definitely is preventing my coat from keeping me warm."

We both laughed, then the boy motioned to a gas station to my right.

"Come on, I'll take you in that place's restroom and help you clean it off as best as I can," he said.

"You don't have to," I said. "I'll be alright."

"Please, I really want to help," he said. "I wouldn't feel right leaving with you walking home like that. Besides, it's starting to run now."

"Shit!" I half-yelled as I reached down to use the bottom of my shirt to catch a small portion of the ice cream that had in fact started dripping towards my pants. "Okay, you can come and help me clean up. I don't know what we can do, but we can try. I just need to text my friend's sister letting her know that I'll be a few minutes."

Once in the restroom, the boy grabbed hand-full after hand-full of paper towels from the dispenser and wetted them. He reached out and began soaking up the mess on my shirt.

"I'm Ethan by the way," he said as he got another hand-full of paper towels then repeated the cleaning.

"I'm Jason," I answered. "It's nice to meet you. It really is. Actually, I was distracted a little myself when you bumped into me. I had realized that I had enough money to get a candy bar with the Cokes I bought."

"I can buy it for you," Ethan said as he worked at using several dry paper towels to soak up the water from my shirt as best as he could. "It's the least I can do since I ruined your shirt. I really would like to do that for you."

"Okay, cool," I responded. I really do appreciate that, and it really is alright about the spill. We were both distracted, and I'm good at leaving it at that if you are."

"I definitely am," he said as we walked out of the restroom, receiving a few odd looks from a few guys our own ages, and disgusted looks from two older guys who were watching us sternly.

After telling him what candy bar I wanted, Ethan bought it then we walked towards the door. The boys and the older guys were still watching us, and I turned towards them.

"Don't worry," I said smiling suggestively. "We both had enough change for the condom dispenser, and thank God they're non-latex. That would have been uncomfortable as hell to explain that one."

As if reading my mind, Ethan ran along-side me as we bolted through the door laughing as we ran out of the store. We slowed after another moment, then Ethan spoke.

"I can't believe you fucking said that," he said laughing hard. "I'll bet those guys still have their jaws on the floor!"

"Yeah, probably," I answered laughing as well. "I can be a smart ass when I need to be. Besides, I don't put up with Assholes very well, nor for long."

"That's good to know," Ethan responded. "So where to now?"

"I need to get back home," I said. "It was nice meeting you, and actually I'd appreciate the company if you wanted to walk with me until wee get to my house."

"Okay, that would be cool," he answered.

We turned in the direction of Danny's house, and began walking as we continued talking. It was mainly about what kinds of music we liked, and I was finding myself growing really comfortable with Ethan despite knowing him only for about 10 or 15 minutes at this point. I hoped that he would become a close friend!

Author's Notes

This chapter was definitely a lot to write. I didn't think it would be this long, but I had a lot I wanted to get put down here. I'm sure that reading the rest of what happened to Josh isn't easy, and I definitely understand that. You'll get to see in the next chapter what happens to Josh when Jacob does the final insult to him. You'll also get to see Josh and Danny spend more time together. I hope you guys like that.

As for Ethan Simmons, you'll get to see where he fits in here very soon. I had said that someone from Josh's past would be returning in this chapter. Ethan is who I meant, so stay tuned for when it's revealed as to how he fits in where Josh's past is concerned.

All that being said, I hope everyone had a really nice Thanksgiving. I hope you guys are doing well, and I'll see everyone in Chapter Nine.

Next: Chapter 9
