Chapter 18
March Stephenson
Maxieplus
March and I had taken to cleaning up the front garden, it had been neglected during winter. I raked up left over debris and March was throwing stones around. We had a delivery of river stones for our driveway and he was distributing the excess onto the garden.
A big black car pulled up out front and a man in a suit got out. He looked around and then he opened the gate and started talking to March, I watched on until he was led towards me.
"Nicky this is Mr. Whelan, he's a lawyer from Canada." I shook his hand and my stomach turned, this has got Matt written all over it.
"Please come in, I will put some coffee on." I showed him to the back sunroom he looked around and said.
"This place is amazing, and that view is outstanding."
"You can thank March for all this, and his mates."
"Well it's a credit to both of you, it's great."
I made the coffee and sat while he opened his briefcase.
"Has this anything to do with Matt Shore?" I had to ask.
"Yes and no, Mr. Wilson."
"Call me Nicky."
"Okay, I am Susan Hipwell's lawyer, our firm is Whelan, Robinson, and Joel. Susan Hipwell in case you both didn't know was Matt Shore's fiancee for a time."
"We knew about her but didn't know her name, or meet her."
"She said that would be the case, now as you know it was rumoured she had a little boy with this man, his name is Mason."
"I see, so what has that got to do with us?"
"Plenty Nicky, she has named you as her next of kin in the event of her death. She has written you a letter explaining why, and we have his trust fund all taken care of, and I can assure you it is all invested wisely."
"Why, we didn't even know her, why not Matt, or why not his mother, seeing he's in jail?" March asked.
"It is all in this letter March and as you probably have guessed, yes Miss Hipwell passed away four weeks ago." I touched March's hand and we both looked at each other.
"I am sorry to hear about that, what is to happen to Mason now?"
"Well here's the problem, she named you as next of kin, so I am here to ask you if you would like an adorable almost one-year-old son?"
"Family, surely he has a family." I stood up.
"He only has you. She had no family to speak of, he has no father or mother."
"My god Nicky, what do we do?" I could see the excitement in March's eyes.
"I don't know March, I can't think straight." I looked out the back windows.
"If you don't take him he will be put up for adoption or he might go to a Mrs. Annie Shore." That was a red flag at a bull moment.
"When can we get him?" I looked at March and said.
"Sorry, but that bitch isn't going to ruin another life, he comes to us, we will love and care for him."
"Are you sure Nicky?"
"Do you want a son March Stephenson?" I asked him.
"OMG YESSSSS" He screamed, I could see his eyes watering, Mr. Whelan smiled at him and shook both our hands.
"So when can we meet him?" March asked.
"Tomorrow, he is being looked after by his nanny at the Raddison hotel, they flew in with me the day before yesterday, and boys, he is a beautiful healthy baby you won't have any problems."
I had to take deep breaths to calm down, what have we done, this ties Matt to us forever.
"You look confused Mr. Nicky, may I be of some assistance?"
"More information would put my mind at ease, if I am tied to Matt Shore for the rest of my life I will scream."
"You won't be, he isn't the father." He grinned.
"He's not, what a surprise?" I was being sarcastic again.
"The letter will explain it all but I can give you the basics."
"Please do."
"He's not the father as you probably already guessed, he's gay, and they never slept together. She didn't know who the father was. She died from an overdose so she was well and truly hooked on drugs by then. She conned some money out of Mr. Shore using blackmail, and if you want, we can shift it back into his account. But she had money also, so it won't be such a big loss. His mother has the power of attorney for his finances so that money will disappear very quickly and so will she, so we hear." He grinned.
"So you weren't going to give him to her after all?"
"We are not silly Nicky, we did our homework, and because the boy is our priority, it was just a little white lie for you to say yes." He giggled.
I smiled and got it all fixed in my head, I will read the letter soon.
"She has not only made you next of kin, she has named you as Mason's guardian sir, we see no legal problems, but we suggest you get an Australian lawyer to look over the paperwork. If you want we can deliver him here, or you can pick him up." I looked at March and he nodded.
"We will pick him up in the morning if that's okay with you." He wrote down the room number and handed me some paperwork to sign.
He left us in shock after we had a sort of chat. We walked him to his car and he then disappeared up the street. I looked at March, for some reason he had the biggest smile on his face and was almost dancing on the spot. I doubted his story about never wanting to have any children after he met me. We went back inside and I read the letter while he made more coffee.
She introduced herself to me and said that Matt's friends had told her all about the treatment he had given me. She said he treated her the same, so that's why she didn't know who Mason's father was. She apologised and asked me not to judge her too harshly. She wanted to give me what no one would give her, some happiness and her precious son was the only possession she had that would mean something to me. It went on for five pages, there was a family history written out but only distant cousins are currently surviving. She said she hated Annie with a passion, she was a real bitch when she came to Canada to see him. Matt handed over the money because she was going to expose him to the media. It went on and on but I got the gist of what she was trying to say. March on the other hand is now running around the house looking for stuff, but all he came up with was a fluffy rug and some blue towels.
"Nicky we don't have anything for the baby."
"How about you ring mum and dad."
He wasn't listening.
"He will be here tomorrow Nicky what do we do?" "Better still March my partner and new daddy, let's not tell them until he's here, but we have to go and buy a baby capsule for the car, you can install it. He has to be kept safe if we are going to go get him."
"So we keep it a secret then?"
"Just until he's here March, then we call in the troops."
"Come on hurry up." He was so excited.
We drove to the next town to buy the capsule because the locals talk, we also got some bottles and the lady said he would need formula. We didn't want to buy much because mum will know what is best for him. March whistled when he installed it and I opened the local page, just to make sure the eagle eyes weren't about.
'A certain gay couple has just bought a baby capsule, do you think the stork is coming to town?'
'Maybe a present for May?'
'Not May.' May posted.
Thank god March had kept his tongue in that shop, but his beaming smile said all there was to say.
The doorbell went and March answered it.
"May, I already told you it is a present for someone, why don't you believe me?"
"Hi Nicky, my brother has decided to take up lying to me. Now the baby capsule formula dummies and whatever else you bought, tell me."
I looked at March he was jumping up and down so I winked at him then nodded.
"We had a baby." He yelled out, she turned to look at him and said.
"Well, it's good you still kept your figure brother, what baby?" She screamed and started looking around
I took her hands and almost cried when I told her what had happened, she was crying as she looked from me to her brother.
"So it's all true Nicky?"
"Here read this letter." I pushed it in front of her. She didn't read it straight away she grabbed March and hugged him, then me.
"May, another Stephenson in the family." He grinned.
"I can't believe it, I was supposed to carry the family on, but Jason wants to wait. This is fantastic news have you told mum and dad?"
"Not yet, we were keeping it a secret until he arrives tomorrow."
"Can I come with you?"
"Be here by eight and you can come with us to greet your nephew."
She beamed a big smile and I swore her to secrecy on that page, and she's not to ring mum.
We didn't sleep much we talked well into the night and as much as March was happy, I was still on high alert, no performing tonight just sighs and smiles. A wonderful present from a stranger, and in the end I couldn't find any underlying scams just good things. I will get dad to check the paperwork out thoroughly. March wasn't thinking about Matt, he knew he wasn't the father, so he was almost hanging from the rafters with happiness.
May was on time and she was doing the March dance she was so eager to get going and so was he. I was moved aside, and he drove my car into the city.
We were early, the nanny introduced us to a beautiful little baby, who was half asleep and eating his fists.
"He's just been fed so he won't need another for six hours, he sleeps almost through the night and is no trouble at all, congratulations daddies, and aunty May."
We had coffee and got a run down on his life up to date, he has always had a nanny his mum thought it the best because she was concentrating on her career. I had decided she was just one of those unfortunate girls that were passed around the casting couch for agents to take advantage of. It made me feel so sad, and when I get March to myself I will tell him this is why I was so upset that day when the agent tried to get him to sign up for a modelling career. After some time we thanked her and the lawyer, March carried him down to the car park and then got him safely stowed away in the car, neither of us nursed him because we wanted him to get his sleep, on the other hand, May talked to him all the way home. We got him changed and I could hear them both fighting about baby powder, we didn't have any so I looked through his travel bags and found some.
"Here try this." I passed it to May.
"Where did you get that from?"
"It was in his bag."
March had to have a look and he grabbed his tiny clothes and started showing May.
"Look at this one May it's adorable, can we dress him in this?"
"Yes March but I think he would be better off in a jumpsuit, he can play on the floor then."
"Okay, oh look at this Nicky, little bunny rabbits." He held up a jumpsuit.
"That's nice March maybe he would like to wear that," I smirked.
By the way, March was watching him roll around the floor I had to be alert because he is going to tickle him any minute now. He had already shown him through the house and the hot tub. He didn't make a noise just stared at March and then me when I got closer, May was sitting in shock I think.
"He's adorable Nicky how old is he again?"
"Almost one March."
"Well mister Mason almost one, I suppose you are old enough to watch TV, let's go find some cartoons." I had opened a new dummy and I knew enough to sterilise it. He sucked on it and then smiled at me.
The TV went on, May joined them, and an argument started but she won him for a two-minute nurse, that's all March would give her as he looked at his watch, then I rang mum and dad.
"You had both better come over and meet your new grandson." That's all I said, then I hung up.
Mum and dad arrived almost instantly, and she beelined to the small cherub, she immediately did what everyone else does she picked him up for cuddles. She was teary and happy butMarch wasn't. Mum cried as we bought them up to speed. I gave dad the paperwork and he smiled at me I think he's a little proud he now has a grandson to take fishing.
"It all looks official dad, but maybe it's fake. I don't know much about Canadian laws, where is her family? There must be some relatives around."
"I guess not Nick, otherwise they wouldn't have sent him to Australia, let me email this to my lawyer and get him onto it." He scanned the paperwork and Mason's passport then sent it on.
I knew Mum had fallen in love with him instantly and was cuddling him on the sofa as March and May watched on, he was still smiling proudly.
"Do you think we should feed him mum?" I called out.
"He doesn't seem hungry son, but get some milk ready just in case."
I did that as per instructions on the tin and made up a couple of bottles of formula. Dad rang his lawyer and worded him up on what was happening.
"Mum, what do I feed him?"
"Baby food son, put a call out because there is no way we are leaving this house anytime soon to get any." She kissed his little nose.
'Please don't ask why, but what do I feed an eleven-month-old baby? If you do not know please don't answer this post, I haven't got the time to go through two hundred suggestions, just the facts please?' I posted on the local page and almost immediately I got answers.
`Baby food,'
`Milk,'
'Do you need any homemade bubs food I can drop off a few jars today?'
'Wonderful' I answered.
I remembered baby food jars one of Matt's friends had a baby and she was always feeding it to her.
"Mum where do I get those baby food jars from?"
"The supermarket has plenty Nicky, they are good in emergencies but homemade is best."
"Where do I get homemade from?" I started to panic.
"Your mum's kitchen Nicky, has anyone offered to make any?"
"Yes, a few mums."
"Then get them to drop it off, this is an emergency, do you have nappies?"
"Yes, three packs here." I started going through his bags again.
"Good we will go shopping tomorrow then."
I thanked the ladies and then sent the first two offers a message asking if I could borrow a few jars just to get me through tomorrow. They were happy to drop them off. I am not liking this one bit and March was looking at me laughing.
"What?"
"Motherhood suits you, Nicky." I glared at him.
"Mum, where does he sleep?'
"In the big bed with you and March tonight he may get scared in a different environment."
"With us?" March asked.
"Yes with you both, if he's staying he has to bond with you and Nicky?"
"Yes, mum." I flopped down in my seat.
"You have to warm up to him, no matter who his father is he's still a baby. He doesn't know any better and I can tell you he's one scared little one too."
"How do you know?'
"The flight from Canada living with strangers makes sense he would feel unloved."
"I can't love him mum, they might take him away from me."
"Just let them try Nicky, I won't ever let that happen." March looked at me.
"But his father might come looking for him. Mum, can he stay with you and dad?"
"No Nicky, I have my own little boy to look after, your father." She laughed, and dad went red.
May had taken her coffee out to the farm table, she was looking at the forest and talking on her phone. I think she is ringing Jason.
The doorbell went and I answered it, three ladies were on my doorstep.
"What's happening here Nicky?" Brenda said.
"March and I had a baby."
"What?" They pushed past me and all I could hear was baby talk, Brenda was the worst and between you and me, I could sort of understand it too.
"Thank you for the food girls, you have saved my life."
"No problem Nick, do you need any more tips, Julie and I both have one-year-olds," Lyn said. I knew these girls from the gym.
"Sit down I need to pick your brains." Brenda sat with us also, and I placed the notepad in front of me, dad made coffee. Brenda lifted her hand and shushed everyone.
"Tell us now before anyone starts speculating on the page."
"You all know about the relationship I was in before I came here, Matt Shore the one that tried to kill me? Well, Mason is his fiancee's son. He's not the father and she has sadly passed away. She named me as his guardian, I will let you read her letter it explains a lot. So we now have a baby called Mason." They looked at each other.
"I am being upfront my friends, and I would appreciate it if you read the letter it's not repeated on the local page."
"Done," Brenda said.
"Nicky all you need are a few toys a warm bed, and some baby food. Make up some squashed peaches and bananas that's always a quick fix, he may eat a small number of oats. Plenty of nappies and always buy his shampoo and soap at the chemist they will be very important in advising you on what he will need. If you are stuck, ring either of us, and there is plenty more mums out there that will be willing to help." Lyn said.
I looked at Brenda, she winked and then laughed.
"Perfect Nicky, can I make some sort of announcement just to keep the wolves at bay?"
"Thank you, Brenda. I have no idea what to do, or say."
"We do." I heard a familiar voice.
"What was that March?"
"We know how to look after babies."
"And you know how, and who are we?"
"We used to babysit the twins a lot, didn't we May?"
"Yes, so we know a few things." She had tears but happy ones as she cuddled the little fella. I looked at her then March then the ladies, they were all silent and smiling.
"I guess I'm a daddy then," I said.
"Good, now we will go shopping tomorrow. Meet us at the supermarket around ten, and Nicky?"
"Yes, Julie?"
"Your life won't be your own anymore how sad, too bad." They giggled, and I groaned.
"Thank you all, I love this town so much."
"It loves you too Nicky, and now we have Mason to love also, life is perfect."
Brenda said, then she got online.
The word got out quickly, the comments were all positive and the offers for help were abundant, she had taken a snap of Mason he looked gorgeous and got plenty of hearts and likes. Later that day Mum and May gave him a bath in the bathroom sink and we all dressed him in his clean jumpsuit ready for his night. He was tired, and we tucked pillows around him, mum and May made a list which included a baby bath, stroller, and a cot. I didn't want to shift him away from us because I wanted to bond with him, no matter what happens mum was right, he is an innocent baby.
Our night was a sleepless one as we watched him, he smiled a few times and we both thought it was awesome when he did.
"You can buy a jogging stroller and he can go on your runs with you."
"You can take him to the farms and show him the animals, and dad can take him fishing."
"I could too." March was already won over, he is going to make a great dad, but first, we have to fix the relationship with his unknown father.
"Nicky I looked at his birth certificate it says father unknown."
"Really?"
"There's something else dad and I found a diary. The investments he has will be tied up until he's twenty-five but there will be a monthly cheque for his upbringing, it increases as he gets older."
"Dad's lawyer will find out what's in there for him."
"Will you two shut up I need to get some sleep," May said.
"Don't get too comfortable dear sister, you are out of the house tomorrow."
"Get stuffed March Stephenson, I'll leave when I'm ready." He giggled, and May cuddled up to bubs.
I knew it was too good to last, around four he started moaning, I didn't have time to react because March was out of bed instantly. He picked him up and then went to give him some warm milk. I rolled over and cuddled May, then went back to sleep. When I got up there was no May and I could hear them talking in the family room, so I went to the toilet and walked out to grab a coffee.
"Where is Mason??"
"Asleep on the couch Nicky, good morning."
"Good morning to you both." I kissed March then May and made coffee.
"It's the same as you Nicky. I read some of the diary she was treated the same, there is a lot in there about Matt and it also states she doesn't know who the father is."
"I see, so he never changed even when he was a big star."
"Doesn't look like it, but she did indicate she blackmailed him into giving her that money for Mason's upkeep, she was going to tell the world he was gay. She mentioned you also."
"What did she say?"
"That she and you were like-minded and from what she had heard you would have made the perfect father for her son." He grinned.
"I guess that's why she mentioned me." She reaffirmed what she wanted was true. I felt a little better.
There was a knock on the door, it was mum and dad, why so early?
"I will sort out the breakfasts you talk to your father." She looked over at the sleeping baby and smiled, she is well and truly hooked.
"What's up, dad?"
"The lawyer Nicky, I got an email from him late last night, he said Annie had tried to touch the money a while ago but they wouldn't release it, there are safeguards in place. He also said he will try and get the monthly cheque sent to us as soon as possible, and the will is correct it stated there is no way the boy is to be handed to his father if he is ever found. He suggested we don't go looking for him, it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack." I felt so sorry for her, Matt use her for his career as he used me.
"I have no idea what I am going to do dad, he's back in my life again and I don't like it one bit, he will come after the money and so will Annie."
"Then we give it back to him," May said.
"What?"
"We give him his money back, then tell them both to disappear."
"I did think that would be the best idea. Mr.Whelan said it would be best if the money was returned, there will still be plenty left apparently."
"Nick and March, there are a few things my lawyer wanted to know, he said it would be an advantage if you both were married, you adopt Mason legally and change his name, that will solidify your commitment to the boy. He also said to have a DNA test done, that will confirm the boy isn't Matts. As May suggested you and March just give him the money back, and if you don't want to we will, and that will close that book."
The room went silent.
"Get married," March whispered, he just caught up.
"Marry you?" I looked at him and then added.
"You haven't even asked me yet."
"I was going to." He grinned.
"That's okay then, going to is good, then the answer is, yes."
Mum giggled and placed the food on the table, she then checked Mason out and sat to eat with us.
"Anything on the local page May?" She was on her phone.
"I haven't looked yet Nicky, just been talking to Jason he will come over later on. And congratulations, my brother is going to be an old married man soon, about bloody time."
March giggled then took my hand and kissed it.
"It wouldn't be so bad Nicky."
"No, it wouldn't be my March." I was all knotty inside and so excited to be Mr. Nicolas Stephenson.
It was a feeding frenzy this morning and I think May won, mum did two breakfasts for them all and I kept making a shopping list, eggs and bacon was at the top along with baby food. My head was spinning by the time I got in the shower, I have no idea what I am doing and in the back of my mind, I didn't want to be a daddy this way. But when I looked into his eyes I knew, I was his daddy for real because he gave me the biggest grin.
Lyn and Julie along with a beaming Brenda met us at the supermarket, it was like a mothers club meeting, so many of the local ladies were there also. Word has certainly got out, and when I walked in with mum and dad I was handed a trolley full of baby stuff, the locals had got together and bought us just about everything we needed. I did have a lot of personal items to get, but I was assured that all Mason will need was in that trolley, now where is that baby? I looked around and spied March sitting outside introducing him to the town. After a half hour, he came in without 'his son' and told me May had taken him to the baby store up the road, I looked at mum and she said.
"While she's doing that son, we had better go and get some fresh veggies from the Wagners."
"Wait, what do we do about Mason?" I looked at March.
"I will catch up with May and take him to work, I have to get another baby capsule for my car and will install it, maybe I could teach him to do it." He giggled.
"Nicky you go with him, I can do the veggies and fruit then everything will be put away by the time you get back home."
"But your shop mum?"
"We have Rose and Wendy manning the store today." She smiled.
We loaded up her car and I couldn't find the words this time, so I just said thank you to my wonderful friends, they were more than happy to help. We walked up to the baby shop arm in arm.
"I can't wait to marry you, Nicky."
"Me too March, will we invite the town?" He went quiet.
"March, you didn't answer me."
"Well, I'm thinking we should just scoot off to the council chambers and do it on the quiet. Brenda can marry us, it's not the most important part of getting married, just paperwork and stuff."
"And what is the most important part, my learned friend?"
"The wedding night is." He giggled and blushed all the way to the baby shop, I loved him more.
May had Mason trying out his new cot, she was with Lyn and Julie they were looking at baby clothes, and I heard her sing out.
"Get something for your babies to ladies, aunty Mays buying."
"May, can I get a say in the stroller?" March said.
"Yes, brother?"
"One that Nicky can run with big wheels and things."
"That one?" She pointed to a big stroller.
"Yes like that one."
"Already chosen, Nicky do you want to test it?"
I said not at the moment, I didn't say I was too scared to attempt any fatherly duties so soon, especially running with him.
The ladies had decked out the stroller with mattress and blankets and Mason was placed in it, I was shown how to secure him and he kept slapping me with his tiny hands, I think he wants to go for a ride. March had a big box hanging over his broad shoulders and May said she will deliver all the stuff they bought to the house.
We had our first family walk up the main street, March shook everyone's hands as we met them and even if he didn't know them, he still took their hands. The cafe was busy and Rose stopped all business duties and she and Wendy came to meet Mason, they made baby noises, and short of picking him up they made sure he was under their watchful eyes.
"I will go get my car, March are you going to need yours?"
"I can do the capsule in mine when I get home, so we can use yours at the moment."
"If you think that is right baby." I rolled my eyes.
"It is, a baby capsule in both cars just in case, but you will be running him to work most days anyway, and riding home with me. But for now, we use your car."
"I see, so you want to drive it again?"
"Yes." He grinned.
"But it's my car." I protested once again. I know he's winding me up, but I have to react, otherwise, he will go on and on about it until I do start moaning.
He went to pump gas and May, mum, and dad arrived back. May got stuck into some work and I yelled out.
"Can someone babysit for us while I go get my car?" Stupid question, they came from everywhere, and not much work is being done today.
I ran up the street and back to the supermarket to get my car, there were flowers on the windscreen and some cards, they work fast around here.
I parked outside the gym and March was in his office tucking money away, he dragged me to the back shed and I said.
"But we aren't married yet."
"Shut up Nicky and suck on daddies dick." He pushed me down to the dirt floor. He had complained he had missed out yesterday and will be playing catch-up with me all day today. But I doubted that.
He leaned up against the wall and said.
"I have no words, Nicky, life gets better and better with you. Now you have bought me a son I'm so happy."
"And it gets better with you too my dear friend, there is something I need to say to you, but I don't want you to get upset."
"The letter, his mum, you, and the agent that came here with that poor girl? I know what your going to say Nicky, and I won't apologise again because it's all in the past."
"Can you do me now?"
"What you didn't cum?"
"No March."
"A father's job is never done." He giggled and dropped to the floor.
I went back into the gym and everyone congratulated me, then after I decided everything was running smoothly, I headed back across the road.
He was being fed by mum, and May was helping. I had no idea what dad had to do today but he was having a pastie, so I went to get myself one. Bubs was happy and I know he will never be treated badly, not with our lot looking out for him.
"You will be sent some paperwork to sign Nick, makes it all official. There will be a cheque sent to you once a month. Annie doesn't know about all this, it's not her business." He grinned and looked at bubs again.
"Why did his mum do this I really would like to know."
"She had you thoroughly checked out, there was no one else she could trust." He answered.
"Son, it's an open and shut case, adopt and love him. The courts won't interfere in it, everything has to go through the Canadian courts anyway at the moment if anything happens, he is still Canadian."
"It's doing my head in, I need to get a balance to pay Matt back."
"A statement is in the mail son, leave it to me and stop panicking."
I breathed out and then started eating, mum has got him to go to sleep and with all this help around me I guess I will survive fatherhood.
March arrived and he kissed me then the baby, he also kissed mum as an afterthought. I could tell he was happy and nervous at the same time, I am yet to get his thoughts about having to bring up a son, but if I know him he will have a lifelong plan already in his head.
We survived the second night and spent a lot of it on the floor playing with Mason, his new toys had arrived via the front porch and good friends. They were stacked up on the porch along with more clothes and food when we got home.
Mum and I took an hour putting everything into the spare bedroom, his crib was placed in our room. The checklist was getting shorter, and the next thing to do is get a DNA test done, which will be done to eliminate Matt Shore from his life permanently. We did manage to make love but had to be quiet about it, March can do quiet if he has to so I found out.
I placed him in the stroller we are going to have our first run today. He was facing me and March followed slowly behind (in my car) just to make sure I could handle it. Mason was all giggle's and slapping his hands on the safety bar, I was watching him and also watching the road. Horns went off as cars passed and I managed a wave or two. When we got to the gym, March pulled into his parking spot and started telling me everything that was wrong with the run. I placed my hand over his mouth and said.
"How did my ass look?" I smiled.
He blushed and answered.
"Awesome Nicky."
"Then that's all you have to worry about my lovely man."
He smiled and kissed me.
"Sorry."
"Your turn tomorrow." I couldn't wait to watch him.
"What are we going to do about this wedding March?"
"What I said, we have it at the council chambers, we can do the name changes and his citizenship papers too. Nicky, I would have liked to have been married at the farm, but it isn't the same now and my second choice was the river, but it's not the same either." I kissed him, and he straightened his shoulders and grinned.
"He will need a new passport."
"That can also be done after he becomes a citizen." He has been talking to Brenda I think.
"DNA?"
"Make an appointment with the doctor next week, it's insurance Nicky just in case. I don't have much work and I can come with you."
"Wedding?"
"Booked in for next Friday."
"Suits?"
Again he blushed and nervously said.
"I want you to wear your shorts and tank. But if you want suits I guess I will go along with it."
"Good, and you will be in your old overalls?"
"Yes of course Nicky, what else would I wear." His blue eyes lit up.
"Perfect, thank you." I kissed him again and then we went to get some rolls and coffee.
Mason had disappeared and I think May had him in her home behind the shop, she was still very excited to be an aunty and she also had plans for his future, which included many sleepovers. Mind you, she had to push March to agree to her aunty's terms, he was resisting her attempts to be in Mason's life, but he was winking at me. I think he is very happy he and I could do this for May.
When she came back he asked her to be his best woman witness, and she started picking outfits out in her head. I didn't have anyone as yet but thought I would have liked Brenda as my witness, but she will be busy marrying us. So tonight I will ring Faith she will be over the moon I asked her, and I guess she will be done up to the nines along with a new outfit.
The visit to the doctor was brief, he did a swab of Mason's mouth to send off to the lab and we will store the results at home. It's just insurance in case Matt tries to tell us he is the father, he could do anything. The next thing was we received a copy of his trust statement, it was big at the moment, but we had already decided to refund Matt's money when the account is moved over to dads accountants here in Australia, That will halve it some.
