Chapter 27

March Stephenson.

May bought Mason over, she had an appointment with a supplier today. I took him and kissed his face he had heavy eyes so I placed him into his ball pool with some soft pillows then went back to watching March's workout.

He did very well, and I was fully pumped by the time he finished. He kissed me and then went back to work, I opened my laptop.

'Delete this email and clear it from your files Nicky. I don't want anyone to see it, wink. The boys I met at the river invited me to the barn dance and said I could stay with them. I know they are your friends so I made up an excuse not to go. Nicky I don't want to get in between them. I get the feeling they are going to start asking others to join in. How do I politely say I don't want any involvement?'

A. 'Tell them you will take them to a sauna in the city one night, they can do the group or three-way thing there, not with you in their backyard.' I wrote back.

I deleted all the conversations and cleaned the email off the computer. I wasn't hiding anything from March, I was just shielding him, he doesn't know about these things. I can't get into this because it may backfire on me. I knew one hundred percent I would never get involved with them, they have to run their race.

I made up a bottle for Mase he will wake soon and will be thirsty, then I went to watch the men at work. Dad was fiddling with a motor and March was rewiring one into its engine bay.

It all looked a little too complicated to me so I patted his bum and went to see if my son was stirring which he was.

The moans were loud as I picked him up and kissed him, then the smiles arrived when the bottle was put into his mouth. He played with my tank top as he sucked the living daylights out of it, and no way was I going to let him doze off again before I burped him.

We played with the iPad he was trying to swipe it from existence, the bright colors were very attractive to him. Lunch was another pie for March and some crust for the bubs, I had my soup and buttered roll. Dad and mum were deep in conversation and by the looks of them, mum was winning as she pointed her finger at March. I will put a stop to it, March is worried and I don't like him being in that state.

When they went back to work mum had her break, she took Mason and I said.

"He won't do it mum, he's also very worried dad may try to talk him into it."

"He's been told son, nothing to see here."

"I don't want to rain on dad's parade mum, but March is so happy doing what he does."

"As I said, nothing to see here Nicky, now tell me where did you buy those red jocks from?" I laughed, this is a conversation I will gladly have with my mum.

I told her and she said she may take some time off to go to the next town she had shopping to do. Rose sat with us and ate her lunch, she was still smiling every time she looked at me.

"You know Nicky those red jocks are the talk of the town, maybe you had better post a pic and tell folks where you bought them from and how much."

"I have already asked him Rose." Mum said.

"Oh, sorry Nicky, delete that request but there have been inquiries."

"I will post a pic tonight of the complete outfit and price all of the items." I grinned.

"Good, then you have to start on next year's one." I groaned.

I did know one thing, that March Stephenson's outfit will be so bloody sexy, after all, he is the town's favorite pin-up boy.

When we got back home, he stripped us both and we headed with baby in arms to the hot tub. He wasn't very fruity but he did want to grope me as I did him.

"He isn't going to do it March, mum told me it has all been talked out."

"Good, I didn't want to do it, and to be honest I didn't want to lose dad in the process, he should be working with his family." He dipped Mason up and down.

"I think he thought it would be to your benefit if he did buy it baby, but it has been dropped and he will stay with you."

"Good." He was thinking then he said.

"I don't want to break in another dad Nicky twos enough."

"You are fond of him aren't you?'

"We talk man to man Nicky, he understands me more than anyone."

"That's good then, he gives good advice."

"He doesn't need to Nick, but it is nice to hear."

I stopped short of asking what they talk about but I am sure it would be nothing new to me.

We spent the rest of the time kissing Mason and each other and it was blissful.

"What are we having for dinner?'" There he's said it.

"Pizza or Chinese baby?"

"Chinese."

I couldn't be bothered cooking and Chinese twice a week isn't so bad, we will have it again at mum's tomorrow night.

I tidied up for Rose, and hung the washing out while March and his son went for a trip into town to get our dinner. I posted a pic of me and said I had a ball then I put the store name and the prices I paid on it. I then read plenty of more comments on the night.

The food was as always delicious and Mase loved his chopped-up steamed dim sim, not too much just a little. He sat in his high chair giving us orders tonight and I looked at March and said.

"He's your son, talk to him." He blushed and filled his mouth again.

Another movie and the boy was sleeping peacefully, the underwear was lost and my head was resting in March's lap. He positioned himself perfectly as I watched on and ate some dessert at the same time, the full-on banquet came when we went to bed.

Rose was early today, she made a coffee and looked at the line, it was full of washing.

"I didn't know how much time you had, and I had nothing to do." I looked at her all innocently.

"I bet you could have found something to do." She laughed.

"That came later." I blushed.

"Sure it did, Nicky just a suggestion but don't you think it's about time you had the tub cleaned?"

"And you said that why?"

"I was talking to Ron and he said it has to be done every four of five months."

"And Ron said this why?" She blushed.

"He's going to install mine." She screamed laughing.

"Good to hear, now all we have to do is find you someone to share it with."

"Well that may come later, but for now it's just me."

"It's not just you Rose, it's the whole town, maybe I will put an ad on the local page."

"Do that and your road kill." It was my turn to laugh, I loved Rose she is a no bull kind of lady, and I will find her a man even if she threatens to run over me.

Another car in today and the four Fords are still without power, the car that was dropped off needed a service so March set about doing that one. Dad whistled away at the music March always has on the radio and I went out the back to see if May was still there. My son was crawling around the floor talking to himself, he squealed when he saw me and headed my way.

"Are you nearly ready to open May?"

"Yes Nicky, we start on Monday."

"Have you had any inquiries mores the point?"

"Yes, plenty of interested clients we just have to separate them into different days Jason is working on that now."

"Good." I lay on the floor while Mase crawled all over me, it was the face slapping I loved so much they were light for now, but as he grows they will get stronger. The sun was streaming through the windows and my eyes grew heavy. I woke up when March came looking for me it was morning tea time and he was hungry.

He picked Mase up and May followed us across the road.

Dad had already started and she went to grab us a roll each.

"Ethan has booked me in for next Tuesday, apparently the old tractor has died again."

"You should buy it from him and use it for garden art March." I offered my opinion.

"It would look a bit sad out the front of our nice home Nicky, better it goes to the recycling company. They don't need it at the farm anyway."

"Suggest it then March, they are only probably keeping it for your and May's sake anyway."

"I think it's an excuse for you and Mason to go for lunch Nicky, the tractor is well and truly stuffed and they know it."

"Do I have to?"

"Do you have to what?"

"Go there."

"If you want to keep your son you do, otherwise I will have to get Faith to mind him and he may decide he likes her cuddles better." He grinned.

"Ok I will go, what time?"

"Nine am."

I will take Faith a big bunch of flowers as a thank you for last week's party, that will brighten up her day.

May and Jason's big opening day was crowded, the place looked the part, only wellness things were being dealt with. They had picked up plenty of clients and the ad they put on the local page generated plenty of questions which May answered. She was asked if she was closing the cafe but she reassured everyone it would be business as usual. Mum had claimed more room and talked May into losing her canned goods. She agreed that they were only there to fill in empty spots, so a big sale was organized and March's contribution of peanut butter finally left the building.

The garden Jason put in was small but adequate for their purposes. Ron had quoted March for a six feet high fence dividing the workshop from the room. He said it was for security but we all know why he wants it, my March doesn't like change and that shed is a very important part of his business day.

I had a meeting with him and May about the big sideboard sitting on our back porch and they both agreed that we will offer it to the guy that took the other stuff, he can have it for nothing if he picks it up. I will find a smaller lighter one to store the barbeque stuff in or put it in March's new tool shed.

Drinks were served and sandwiches were passed around as clients looked at the range of goods displayed on the shelves and the brochures that were everywhere. Jason took them through what they should expect and the ladies almost swooned when he placed his legs behind his neck, my mouth was salivating by this time and I wondered if March could do that. I know this business is going to be good for them. March was grazing on the sandwiches, so I took a few and walked out to the side. I sat in the garden and he moved to sit with me.

"Can you do that leg thing?"

"No Nicky but if you want me to try it, I will." He smiled.

"Good." At that very moment, he got a message and then I heard the fire siren go, a few guys ran out of the shop and I know some of my gym clients will be in their cars. March kissed me and ran off I went looking for May, she is my go-to when this happens. She was looking at her phone when I sidled up to her.

"The fire is in the bush behind the supermarket."

"Does it say how bad it is?"

"No Nick, just where it is."

I made sure mum was looking after Mason then I headed for my car, when I got there the fire trucks were just pulling up, the fire was behind a house I couldn't tell how close it was.

"Go back to work Nicky, I won't tell you again." I heard him shout at me, I had done the wrong thing and I knew instantly by the look on his face he wasn't too pleased with me.

I took Goldie and myself back to the gym.

May kept updating me and I was relieved the house was out of danger, the loggers had sparked a spot fire and it got out of control.

No lives were lost, and not much damage, the fire was out for now but still being monitored.

That god of a man strutted across the road still in his uniform, I nearly jumped him on the spot.

"I was worried that's all."

"I am sorry March I wasn't thinking."

"It's hard enough fighting a fire without worrying about family being safe, and I am sorry I shouted at you."

"You had every right to March, it shocked me, but I do understand. I shouldn't have gone there." I dropped my head, he lifted it and said.

"Never leave me Nicky, never ever leave me." Then he kissed me deeply. The applause was great so I stepped back and bowed to our audience once again. Thank God for March Stephenson and his good sense otherwise this moment could have been a full-on screaming match.

We went to find Mason and he ordered something to eat and a coffee, all that hard work has made him hungry, again.

"You will be wearing that home won't you?"

He blushed and answered.

"If you want but it's a bit hot and too bulky."

"I have some bulk too." His hand moved to my jock.

"Oh good a live show." Rose sat down.

"How did the fire go March." She changed the subject.

"Good, the logging crew let it get out of hand they can pay for the clean up and for the bush they destroyed too. Some may need replanting."

"Don't they do that anyway?" I asked.

"Not on my land I had specific rules on what they plant. If they try and place more trees there I will take them to court. It has to be kept natural, ferns and nice things."

"So that is your property March?" Rose asked.

"Yes, all of it right up to the next town."

"I didn't know that."

"I don't advertise my private business, but I also don't hide it Rose."

I was so proud of March Stephenson, he knows his land is full of native bushes and trees and he wants it all put back.

"March was the fire suspicious?"

"A little Nicky, they know better than to spark a fire and let it get out of hand."

"Maybe they want that land and thought it might urge you to sell it."

"Maybe Nicky, I never thought of that, they have offered plenty for it, but I won't sell, not for all the money in China."

"Very admiral of you March." Rose smiled.

"Well it is prime real estate Rose, I don't want our town to be overrun by loggers and housing estates I like it the way it is. The housing estate that Ron's working on was out of my hands, another farm owner sold the lots to them on the quiet, otherwise, I would have put a bid in."

I sat back and loved him even more. Mason had woken up and wanted us so mum bought him out, some firemen came by and sat ordering drinks and food before they changed and went back to work. March started talking to them and I talked to my son. Their talk was all about the bush fire and they were all worried that it shouldn't have happened, most fires are man-made. I have never seen a bird or a kangaroo with a box of matches in their claws. It was their first fire for the season, I hope it's not a sign of what's to come.

"I think I might head on home March. It's been a big day."

"Okay Nicky, give me a minute."

We went to the clearing and he showed me what firemen can do if they are in a stressful situation, they use their big hoses to quench the fire.

Mason as usual loved his swim and I looked around the clearing, I have yet to see the plaque he had made for his parents, but I haven't surveyed the place thoroughly.

"I was worried that's all Nicky."

"I know and once again I apologize."

"How much are you going to charge them?"

"Just for the fencing Nicky, the bushes and ferns should regenerate quite quickly, but if one bush is missing I will charge them for it. My biggest fear is if it happens here in our space, but as I said it regenerates."

"Good." I smiled.

We left it at that for now, when we got in there were no dancing lessons, just lessons on fire safety, he was gentle and very precise with his 'orders?'.

The next day saw May's business thriving, I could hear music and some talking as she did her first class, bubs was left with us just in case he got in the way, but she was reassured she could have him when she had her breaks.

I potted around the gym and put two loads of washing on, I checked out March's overalls and they were coming along just fine. He had dropped his uniform back at the fire station when he went to pick up the pizzas, so I didn't have it to wash and poke holes in it. Bubs was playing on the walking machine when I got back, Julie had a hold of him so I left her to his giggles and dribble.

My laptop was opened and another message from Tom was blinking at me.

'Update Nicky, he has told Pete where he hid the money under his bedroom floor, so I am aiming to go read the gas meter tomorrow when she is at work.

The other thing isn't going away so I put your suggestion to them, and promised I would go with them. They are still thinking about it, you looked pretty fine on the local page, same old out there Nicky lolol.

I deleted the email and after sending him one back I deleted that one also.

"He's a handful Nicky, but he's stuffed." She handed Mason to me.

"I have to watch him all the time Julie, and yes I know before you say it, it will get worse." I chuckled. She went back to her girls and I cuddled with my son a bit. I looked into the garage and decided to go get some lunch, not that I was hungry it was because I had news for March.

He followed us over then sat and took Mason while I got his food for him.

I thanked Rose again for my beautiful clean house and she gave me a wonderful smile.

March was tickling Mase and I sat with my coffee and his pasty and sauce.

"I heard from Tom before March."

"What did he have to say?"

"The money is under the floorboards in Matt's old bedroom. Tom is organizing for it to be picked up tomorrow."

"Does he know how much is in there?"

"He didn't say, but I am sure we will find out."

"I hope he doesn't find out while Peter is in there with him."

"I doubt it, but if he does Pete can hold his own he's not a small boy."

"I don't condone this, you know that."

"I know baby, and I am sorry once again." I looked at him he smirked and started laughing.

"I will give you this one Nicky, but no more."

"Now when are we going into the city to see the cars?"

"When I'm not busy maybe next Wednesday."

"Do you want to stay at our hotel for a night?"

"Maybe." he grinned, of course, he does. The most expensive roast in town, but he is worth it.

Mase was licking some tomato sauce off his fingers, I didn't think it was very healthy but March knows best. May arrived and grabbed him, she sang out to Rose to grab her a pie.

"I got a half an hour's break until the next class."

"How is it going?"

"Fantastic, I didn't know there were so many people around here that are well up on relaxation, there's still five of them in the garden."

"When is the fence arriving March?" I asked him.

"Tomorrow."

"Good."

We went back to work and I hung some washing out, I watched a few of the stragglers finish up and one, in particular, took his time to get ready to go home, but he did leave eventually.

"That's it, thank the lord they have all gone," March yelled at me.

The shed was used once again, then he had to go and do some real work.

I played games for an hour and bubs was in his pool sleeping, one machine stopped and I looked at it, this one will need an electrician to look at it. I rang my electric man and he will call by tomorrow morning. I placed an out of order sign on it and then went back to my game.

March poked his head in a few times and the third time I followed him into the workshop. I looked at the two engines that had been done, they were pristine and looked quite powerful but what do I know?

"Have you tested them yet dad?"

"Yes Nick, March and I will take them for a drive soon. I can't wait and keep your fingers crossed they don't conk out."

"So two to go then?"

"Ones out already and the other we can do tomorrow."

"Dad I wanted to ask you something, are you going to buy that car yard up the road?'

"No son, your mother thinks it's a bad investment." He winked.

"Sorry dad, but he loves it here."

"I was just going to give him a leg up that's all."

"I know, but you have done so much for us, we don't want you to do anything else, just be a dad that's all we ask."

"He's a very clever man your March."

"I know, just being around him gives me goosebumps sometimes." He winked at me and said.

"We know."

"So what are you both talking about?" March came over.

"Nothing much baby, when are you taking me for a drive in these beauties?"

"Soon, is Mason being looked after?"

"He will be in a minute." I went back to organize a babysitter for him then grabbed my laptop. Rose was happy to have him and I put the computer behind her counter. I always do that because you never know who's in the gym, light fingers happen everywhere but I must admit I haven't read or seen any in this town, but there's always a first time.

He revved the engine and it was loud, a few of the guys came to look with big smiles on their faces. March backed it out of the garage then I heard dad start the other one. When we parked on the road he said.

"Ready?"

"Yep." I think he left the back tires on the asphalt, this car was powerful as it screamed up the road. I giggled and held onto the seat belt tightly as he turned the corner then he full-on throttled it. Past the house then the clearing then the veggie barn we went, there were no lights on so I deemed it a successful refurbishment. I could hear dad behind us when March pulled into a siding.

"Want to drive it?" I was instantly overwhelmed with gratitude. We changed seats and I revved it a few times then hit the gas, it roared as I drove off and so did March.

"Slow down Nicky you are going to get us killed."

I didn't slow down I hit the gas harder.

When we got near town I did slow down, March was still in shock as I drove it carefully into the garage and turned it off.

"Feels great to me." I smiled.

"Now is the time you tell me you have done some rally driving."

"Just a little March."

"There is so much I don't know about you Nicky, you can begin at the start over dinner tonight."

"Not much to tell March, mum and dad had me doing all sorts of defensive driving courses back when I got my license, they were all done at the Thunderdome racing circuit, the results you have just experienced."

"I guess I had better let you drive from now on."

"I guess you had better, when are the minis coming back?" I grinned.

Dad poked his head in March's side of the car and said.

"Consider yourself told Nick, I'm watching you." He walked off.

"Whoops." I looked at March who said.

"Yes, consider yourself told Nicky."

"So I guess another run around the block is out of the question?"

"Stick to doing the washing Nicky you can't get into any trouble by doing that." I opened the door and patted the car.

"Well done." Then I went to spend some time with our son across the road.

March was all smiles when he arrived and Mason was full of dah dah's.

Rose bought the coffee out and mum was watching me from her sandwich bar, which has grown over the past few weeks.

"Chinese tonight at mum's Nicky."

"I am looking forward to it, have you booked our room at the hotel?"

"Yes baby, Wednesday night next week."

"Thank you, we have to go shopping in the city for that present we talked about."

"I think we will leave early Wednesday and do that first then the car place."

"Maybe we could do it before we leave the city."

"No, breakfast then we go home that is the way it's always been, why change now." I looked sideways at him and he had the biggest grin on his face.

"If you say so, baby."

We got to mums around six thirty after picking the food up. Mum took Mason and laid him on the floor, he screamed and bent over so his head hit the floor.

I picked him up for cuddles but it was dad he wanted tonight. It didn't go unnoticed that March was grabbing a bit of everything at the kitchen counter. Dad was watching him and if it wasn't for Mason he would be up there next to my husband. I got up and asked him what he wanted, he gave me his order and I piled his plate up, the stare I got off March was full of confusion.

"Well, you should let me serve your dinner then you would get more." I laughed.

"That's it, you are cut off," he said.

"Excuse me?" I looked at him.

"I am cutting off everything for a week."

"Have I been a naughty boy March?"

"Yes."

I started with scratching my nipple then I finished with scratching my ass cheeks.

"Still cut off March?"

"Maybe I will start it tomorrow." I breathed out, he started laughing.

"What do you want mum?"

"I'll get it Nicky just serve yourself." So I did, but I didn't pile it on.

"What day are you going the Wagners March?"

"I think Tuesday if the cars are finished."

"Okay,"

They started talking about the cars and Mason was giving them some good advice in the process. Mum was telling me that Rose is a lot happier and has been going to the cemetery just about every day after work.

"I guess she has a lot to say mum, she ignored it for such a long time."

"She did Nicky, but I have to give her this, she knew what she was doing."

"She sure did."

Bubs wanted me now, he is sick of car talk so I got him and dad finally got a bigger spoon of food into his mouth. I asked him if he wanted to sit on the floor he okayed it, so I sat with him while he played with his toys and ate my dinner leaning up against the sofa.

Of course, I had opened my legs wide so March could get in a good look.

Cut off, really did he think that would happen in our house, maybe he would have lasted as long as it took us to get home, but not for a week.

As it happened March got in his truck on Monday and went out to the farm so he could tell Ethan face-to-face that the tractor was stuffed. He said he didn't even look at it and said he was busy, they should ring the crushers to come pick it up.

"Did Faith corner you March?"

"No Nicky, I wasn't there that long just a flying visit."

"Good, that saves me from going then." He was down in the dumps and I thought it was because of that old tractor. I guess he tried to save it many times in the past, but sometimes you can't flog a dead horse.

We were looking forward to our night in the city and March was excited to go there again. I was excited to see the cars and the rings. We didn't have a plan but had decided anything nice that caught our eyes would do for mum, it didn't necessarily have to be a ring. I have only ever seen her with her engagement and wedding band on, maybe a nice pendant and chain, maybe a big brooch, that no one wears nowadays.

We packed up some stuff for Mason the night before we left so we could leave early in the morning. March had us in the car before seven he wanted to get to the hotel to have breakfast, but he did carefully drive us into the city.

The valet parking was as usual a treat for him and once again he reminded them not to scratch the car. At the reception desk, we were welcomed with a big smile and March signed us in. The same room with a box of chocolates was provided, a quick nappy change, and a half hour later we were sitting in the breakfast room with Mason in a high chair. Photos were taken of the food and

and randomly sent on to May as March piled his plate up.

I took what I wanted then some scrambled eggs for Mase. March was looking around the room and smiling at long last, he loves it here and couldn't wait to have his roast for lunch. The waiters said their welcoming greetings and of course, he got plenty of sneaky looks.

"Don't even think about it Nicky, your not for sale."

"What have I done now?"

"They are leering at you. Don't think I don't know."

"Not me March they are lusting after you."

"Well I am not available and neither are you."

I smiled and went about eating my now cold breakfast as Mason banged on the high chair with his hands.

"It doesn't go anywhere baby, no wheels."

"Eh?" His big eyes looked at me.

"The chair it's not your running type seat."

'"Eh?" Legs started to move and his bum was trying to get the seat to start moving.

"It's not like your ride bubs, settle down."

March took him and walked him over to the window, because the breakfast room was on the ground floor all he could see were the trees across the park and loads of concrete.

"Will that be all sir?"

"Yes thank you, I think he is finished." I rolled my eyes, the waiter laughed and said.

"See you at lunchtime." He cleared our plates and then went into the kitchen.

"What did he want?" March said when he came over.

"To see if we had finished, and to clear the table March, why?"

"Why what?'

"Why did you ask that? you could see what he was doing."

"I thought maybe he had slipped you a note or something."

"No, he wouldn't do that here March use your brains nothing like that would happen, they would lose their jobs."

"Did he?"

"Did he what?"

"Give you his phone number." I was stunned at his suggestion so I took Mason and said I would see him in the room. Something is going on in his head and I don't like it one bit.
