{Chapter 1}
"The Loss"
The look of terror was all that I saw as my parent's drug me down the low corridor of the airport. My parent's white lab coats flapping in the brisk of their walk. Herds of people trying to get to the flight. The final flight at gate 319. There were only one hundred seats on that flight and it was first come, first serve. What seemed like thousands of people, pushing and shoving each other trying to get to the gate first.
We continued along our path until it came into sight. The numbers 319 was clearly visible in front of the terminal. "There it is" my father shouted over the other people. "Lets hurry" my mother responded. Desperate for this last opportunity, my dad picks me up and starts moving forward into the mob. Shoving people aside as he moves closer to the gate.
The clerk at the desk went to turn on the loud speaker. "Please remain calm. As of this moment there are only ten more seats available on the flight. Please remain please in an orderly fashion. At that moment, the desperate crowd turned into a desperate angry mob. Struggling to keep our place in the line my dad started pushing forward just to keep from getting pulled back. We were so close to the rope yet we couldn't seem to get any further.
Next thing I know I'm being stretched out in front of my dad using me as a lever to pull us in front of everyone else and there we were, but as we were about to about to cross into the terminal the lady stopped in front of us. "I'm sorry sir. But there's only one more spot left on the flight". She said with such concern in her eyes. "What do you mean there's only one spot left?" my dad asked, nearly shouting. "Apparently you haven't been noticing but we've been letting people on while you've been shoving your way through the line"
"Then..... Then just let my son on". They all went quiet and turned to see my mom completely in tears. "You want them to do what?" my dad asked, breaking the silence. "Just let them put him on the plane, if we al can't go then at least we can send him to the colony. That's the whole reason we wanted to get on this plane isn't it? Just let him go. He'll be safe. He's a smart boy and I know he'll be able to take care of himself" she looked up with her sulking face and walked to my father, took me out of his arms and went over to the lady standing behind the desk. She sat me down by the desk and looked up at the lady behind the counter and handed her my passport as well as purchasing tickets. It was the last ticket, for the last flight.
She took my hand and led me to the entrance to the terminal. She bent down in front of me and she gave me a hug. With tears still in her eyes she said one little sentence. "When in trouble, look to the skies and you will find hope"
She lightly kissed me on the forehead and stood back up. She slowly walked back to my father and they walked out of the airport. I always wondered why they never looked back at me.
Six Years Later
Oof! I hit the ground. "Get up" is all I hear. Still in nothing but my boxers, I stood up and glared at the blonde girl in front of me.
"You're such a bitch sometime ya know?" I retorted as I started piecing me bed back together.
"Sometimes I don't know whether to slap you of fuck you, but either way you not my type." And with that she walked out of my room with an evil half cocked grin on her face.
I got up off the bed and walked over to my dresser to get some clothes. After getting dressed I had some time to kill so I walked out onto the balcony.
As I lean against the railing, I look up at the sky and start daydreaming about my parents. The stars just outside of the dome, they were just like them, unreachable, yet so close. Although the earth was pretty close, it seems a pretty much impossible journey when you have no way of getting there.
"You had the dream again didn't you?" I turned around and Liz was leaning against the doorway. "You know you should really stop thinking about them so much. You don't even know if they're still alive."
I looked back out to the sky. "I promise one of these days, I will find you"
Hey guys. This is just the first of what I see to be a long story, but I need feedback. It's the only way the writers on nifty get any kind of gratification.
