Seahawk's Cruise Part 1

Nickolai Jean Cartier stared up at the massive and looming ship that was moored in London's harbor. The year was 1828 and Nickolai was to see his family and his arranged bride. He shivered at the thought. How was he to tell his family of his lover in London? He took a big gulp of the sea air and walked up the gangplank. He spotted someone sitting on the edge of the boat.

Brown eyes met blue as the stranger continued to whittle the block of wood. Nickolai nlushed and walked up the rest of the steps and onto the ship.

"Who were you staring at, AJ?" asked a rough, hispanic voice.

"No one, Howard. Just this week's victim." AJ replied as he hopped off the edge and onto the deck. His heavy boots landed on the wooden planks with a thud. His tanned and tattooed arms glistened in the sun from the labor. "Too bad he's sailing on this ship."

"Yeah, especially when we're doing our thing." a country voice interrupted. "How are you?" He leaned over and kissed Howard.

"Mmmm, just as good as you, darling." Howard replied.

"Brian, Howard, cut that out, people are gonna see." a rough voice cut through the air.

"Sorry, Kevin, but he's too irrisistable." Brian replied as he hoisted the heavy bag over his shoulders and headed into the cargo. "Later, I have to go put this away."

"Alex!" called out a new voice. AJ winced and turned towards the gangplank. "Take Mr. Cartier's bags to the cargo. I will take roll shortly."

"Yes, Captain Pearlman." AJ replied obiediently before hoisting the trunk onto his shoulders and walking off. He knew he wouldn't have the strength if he looked into Mr. Cartier's eyes. The blue that held much more innocence than the Lady Sea herself. He shrugged off the feeling and continued his trek to the cargo.

By the time, AJ and Brian had returned on deck, Mr. Pearlman was calling roll. "Kevin Scot Richards!"

"Hea!" Kevin called out.

"Howard Lucas D'Rough!"

"Present." Howard called out.

"Brian Steven O'Litt!"

"Ready and raring to go, sir!" Brian replied.

Lou rolled his eyes and shook his head while Brian grinned. "Alexander James McLain!"

"I'm here and accounted for." AJ waved nonchalantly.

"Mr. Cartier, I give you my crew." He waved his obeses arm out towards the men. Nickolai could find himself very different from these men. For one, he was nearly as pale as marble where they are as tan as they can be. He seemed more weak and vulnerable than these muscle-bulging men. "This is Nickolai Jean Cartier. Our passenger for this voyage." He turned and gazed over Nickolai's body. "Come, I am sure Alexander will show you to your cabin."

AJ walked up and gracefully bowed before muttering a raspy, "Follow me." Nickolai followed him below the ship and towards the first door. Inside was just a bunk with a porthole. But it was roomy enough to stand and walk around for a bit. "For services, ask any of the crew member kindly. We like seeing manners once in a while." He smiled before leaving again.

Nickolai droped onto the bed. "oh my...this is going to be a long voyage." he sighed. The whole way from the deck to his cabin, Nickolai could barely breathe in the presence of Alexander. He was so muscular...so rugged...so handsome. Much like his ex-lover who had been a wine rancher for years. He wondered if he was to be bored this entire voyage. Of course, he could venture out and watch the crew glisten under the salty sun of the sea but then he'd risk himself in getting caught.

Homosexuality was looked down upon during this era and Nickolai knew it. But just because he knew it doesn't mean he is going to deny it. He wanted to get to know the crew better.

Especially that Alexander James McLain...

"AJ, what are you thinking about?" asked Howie as he climbed into the crow's nest.

AJ sighed and looked over the azure waters. "That Nickolai character. Usually, I don't fall for the...snooty type."

Howard smiled, "You don't fall in love at all. No one does. One is lucky if they do."

AJ grimaced. "I know. But this Nickolai character intrigues me." He looked at his hands. "Just looking at him, thinking how frail he is just makes me want to wrap him up in my arms and protect him from the world. Isn't that how you feel with Brian?"

Howard's eyes glittered and stared at the sky. "Yes, I do. Whenever we are alone and we are just in his hammock or mine's, I'd just hold him. I'd think about how lucky have I become to hold this wonderful man in my arms."

"That's what I want to do but...but he's from a rich family. I was abandoned by my own father at age 6. I've known the seas since then. But suddenly, I want to risk it all for this man." He sighed and thought of many possibilities of how he could descreetly tell Nickolai of what he felt. Of course, there was always rejection.

"I can tell you really have fallen for this man." Howard commented. "But you would want to court him after this voyage. If either of you survive. I wish the best of luck, either way." He climbed down the rope ladder. "Good night."

"Good night, Howard." AJ called after him. "How could someone like Nickolai fall for someone like me?" he wondered to himself. He shook his head of silly thoughts and returned to his watch on the sea.
