Apple of Her Eye Chapter 8

I looked at the clock. It was now 9:15. Mom was late. I was ready to get out of this hell hole. I was dressed and ready to go. Finally the door opened and she walked in, followed by Dr. Lassiter.

"Sorry I'm late, Gary." She said apologetically. "I had to stop by the school and leave them my lesson plans. I'm taking the entire day off."

"That's alright, Mom. I'm ready to bust out of here. You got the file?" We laughed, and I saw a smile on Dr. Lassiter's face.

"It's not that bad is it? You're making me feel like I was a bad host." He said, now frowning.

"No, Doc. No hard feelings, but I'm ready to ride." I said jumping up from the chair I was sitting in. "Can I drive?" My mother started laughing. I didn't have my license yet, but I always asked her if I could drive when we went somewhere. She was hesitant to let me get my license, so it was my way of trying to constantly remind her I wanted it.

"If you don't stop asking me that, you're going to find yourself walking, young man." I knew she was kidding, I hope!

Mom went and got the car while I took the traditional ride in the wheelchair to the entrance. Why do they do that anyways? I was perfectly capable of walking, but they said I had to go down in the wheelchair. Go figure.

"You hungry? Want to stop somewhere for breakfast?" She asked after we had pulled out onto the highway.

"Breakfast sounds good. Mickey D's!" I shouted. I love McDonald's sausage and egg McMuffin with a hot hash brown- maybe two.

"Yuck! All the nice restaurants around and you want McDonald's? How about Bob Evans instead?" She asked.

"Nope, Mickey D's." I insisted.

After ordering our breakfast, two sandwiches and two hash browns for me, a cup of coffee for her, we sat down and began to talk. I wanted to find out what had happened last night when she took Todd home and talked to his parents about Josh.

"Well, tell me. How did things go last night? Did you talk to Mr. and Mrs. Mathews? Did you talk them out of letting Josh talk to Mr. Snow?" I couldn't wait any longer. I needed to know.

"We talked about it, and I told them what you said. Josh insisted that he was at fault and we all agreed with him. He still wanted to go talk to Mr. Snow this morning, but we made a compromise." She said while studying my reaction.

"What compromise?" I asked with a questioning look.

"That he talks to you personally before he does that. I told him I want the two of you to talk about what happened. If you both feel that he needs to talk to Mr. Snow after you've spoken, then he will. You can meet with him alone, or I and his parents can be there when you talk. It's your call." She looked at me and gave me time to respond. She knew it was a big decision and one I couldn't make right away. Soon I came to my decision.

"I want to talk to him alone." I knew that it would be a very awkward confrontation. One thing I knew, however, I had to talk Josh out of admitting his involvement. I was very grateful for my mother and his parents for being so understanding.

"Thanks, Mom. I love you."

"I know, son. I love you too. I'm still not sure you're doing the right thing, but I'll respect your decision. Every time I look at your arm in that cast and the bruises on your body, I still think he should be in jail." She was being totally honest with me. I could understand her feelings, but this was something I felt I had to do.

We finished our meal and left the restaurant. I didn't feel like going home right away, so we went shopping at the mall. It was fun. We walked and talked casually. It had been a long time since we had spent some significant time with each other. She was always busy doing school work, and I was too busy brooding. It felt good to be together for a while. At one point we even held hands while we walked. Of course all my friends were in class. I would never have done it on a weekend!

We stopped for a quick lunch at the food court and then headed home. We arrived home around two o'clock. I was really tired, and my body was beginning to ache. My ribs were killing me and my arm throbbed. I took some painkillers and went to my room and laid down for awhile. In no time I was sound asleep.

I had another dream. This time I was in a field and there was a fence all around me. I walked around the fence trying to find a way out, but couldn't find a gate. I began to shout, yelling for someone to help me. I was beginning to panic. Suddenly I heard a crashing sound coming from the opposite side of the fence. Someone was trying to break down the fence and let me out. They kept pounding on the fence and soon I could see the fence give way. Board after board began to fall away, until there was a hole large enough for me to escape. When I climbed out through the wall, Todd was standing there with an axe, grinning at me.

I awoke from the dream with a smile on my face. I got out of bed and went to the restroom to relieve my bladder. Since it was about an hour until dinner, I decided to crawl back into bed. I laid there for a few minutes until there was a tapping on my door.

"I'm awake." I shouted out. "Come in."

My mother opened the door and peeked inside. "You up?" She asked.

"Yeah, just woke up." I said, rubbing my sleepy eyes.

"Good, you have a visitor." She stepped aside and I could see Todd standing shyly behind her.

"Come on, dear." She said pushing a very shy Todd into the room. "He won't bite. Even if he does, he's had his rabies shot." She laughed, leaving the room and closing the door behind her.

"Hi, how's it going?" I said. I was rather surprised that he was even here, especially after having just dreamt about him a few moments earlier.

"I came to see how you were." He said, handing me a couple of papers and two books. "Here. Your mother asked me to pick up your make-up work from your teachers. This should help you catch up on the work you've missed."

I still couldn't believe how shy he was. Not once had he looked up as he said all this. He turned and started to walk out.

"Wait, don't go!" I pleaded. "Please, come sit on the bed with me."

"I really should go, I don't want to be a bother."

"You're not a bother, please stay." It worked. He walked hesitantly over to the side of the bed and sat down.

"Are you afraid of me?" I questioned. It seemed he was always so nervous when he was around me. I wondered if it was his nature, or if it was just me.

"No!" he answered quickly. "I'm not afraid of you."

"Then why won't you look at me?" He was becoming extremely nervous. I felt he was ready to bolt out the door at any moment.

"Is it true?" He asked.

"Is what true?" I was perplexed. I had no idea what he was talking about.

"Is it true what they say, are you gay?" He asked nervously.

Wow! I wasn't expecting that. This kid pulls no punches. What was I to say? I was really beginning to like him. If I tell him the truth, I stand the chance of losing the first person I've felt close to in some time. I had already decided that I was no longer going to hide behind a wall again. So I guess it was time for the truth, I'd just have to suffer the consequences.

"Yes, I'm gay." I asserted confidently. If he was going to leave, now would be the time.

"Good, I am too."

For the first time since he entered the room he looked me directly in the face and gave me a shy smile. And those blue eyes. I was falling into them again. For some reason I have a habit of falling into blue eyes. This time, however, I felt it was safe.

"I couldn't look at you because I was afraid to. I was afraid you could tell I liked you. I wasn't sure. I had to be sure." Not once did our eyes look away. We were staring intently into each other.

"I like you too." I admitted. "You're really cute." I know my face was turning red. This was the first time I had ever told another boy I liked him. It felt good.

He reached over and took my hand in his. "I liked it yesterday when I was in your room and we were holding hands. I know it didn't mean much to you, but it meant a lot to me."

"Do you realize my mother saw us?" I giggled.

"Yeah. We talked about it later. You have a really cool mom. She's my favorite teacher." He was squeezing my hand and rubbing his fingers gently over my knuckles, just like he did the day before.

"You talked to my mom about us?" I couldn't believe this kid. He was shy as hell, but could open up and talk to my mom about something this personal.

"She knows I'm gay. I told her several months ago when some kids were giving me a hard time in class. She helped me deal with myself. She's great."

"Yeah, she is." Was all I could say. Then I began to wonder about her comments last night. She had tried to set us up. How cool is that- having your mother as a matchmaker- with another boy! A really cute boy, too.

"Does your mom and dad know?" I asked.

"No, not yet," he replied. "But I plan to tell them soon. Josh already knows."

"Josh knows you're gay?" I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Why had he acted so homophobic towards me if he had a gay brother?

"Yeah, I told him last year. Well, didn't actually tell him. He walked into my room and saw something I was looking at on the internet, if you know what I mean." His face turned the cutest shade of red.

"Then why did he beat the shit out of me if he has a gay brother?" I was becoming very upset. I was also beginning to question if I had made a right decision in not telling on him.

"That's just it. That's why he feels so bad. He was just going along with his friends, trying to act cool. Then when you jumped him, he just reacted instinctively. After it was over, and he saw you on the floor, he saw me. He thought what he did to you, could have happened to me." Tears were beginning to run down his cheek. I reached up and wiped them off with my thumb.

"I know you won't believe me, but my brother cried so hard that night. He held me tight and said it could have been me. He really feels guilty about what he did. That's why he went to Mom and Dad and told them about it. He wants to make it up to you."

Now it was my turn to cry. I don't know why but I did. Todd scooted over on the bed and wrapped his arms around me and we both gently cried into each others shoulders.

After a couple of minutes we regained our composure and looked up into one another's eyes. A shy smile began to creep across his beautiful face.

"May I kiss you?" He quietly asked me. I shyly nodded and we leaned into one another. For the first time in my life, I kissed another boy.

Apple of Her Eye Chapter 9

Heaven does exist here on earth. I've found it with Todd. We kissed for hours. Well, actually about ten minutes, but it seemed like hours.

"What's this?" He grinned, reaching over and pinching my hard cock through my jeans.

"The same thing as this." I giggled, pinching him back. What a difference a week makes. The last time I sat on a bed with a guy my life turned upside down. Now it felt like it was finally turning around. Things were definitely getting better.

"I gotta go. I'm going to be late for dinner." He frowned. I didn't want him to leave, and I could tell he didn't want to either.

"Alright, kiddo." I squeezed his cock one last time. He returned the favor. Then we leaned back in for another gentle kiss.

"Will I see you tomorrow at school?" I asked.

"You're going back to school so soon?" He asked with a worried look on his face.

"Yeah, I have to go back someday. Might as well be tomorrow." I replied.

"Sure. I'll meet you at your locker before first period, ok?" I gave him a quizzical look.

"How do you know where my locker is?" I was very curious.

"I've been noticing you the past couple of years. You just didn't see me." He started blushing that crimson red again.

"I guess I was blind then." I smiled and grabbed his hand pulling him up from the bed. "One thing is for sure, I'm not blind now." I pulled him into another quick kiss. We left the room, holding hands while we walked down stairs into the kitchen.

Mom was there and looked over at us and saw us drop our hands. She began to smile.

"You want to stay for dinner?" She asked Todd.

"No, Mrs. Carson. My parents are expecting me home soon." He replied. He was grabbing his thin jacket and putting it on.

"Let me drive you home then." My mother told him as she grabbed a sweater out of the closet and retrieved her purse from the counter.

"That won't be necessary, I can walk." He told her.

"Nonsense. I can't have my favorite student catching a cold. It's cool out tonight and you only have on a thin jacket." There she goes getting into her `Mom Mode.' Poor guy.

"Gary, you stay here and take your shower. I'll be right back and finish dinner. We also need to have a talk." She looked me directly in the eyes and raise her eyebrow. She then put here arm around Todd's shoulder and lead him out the door.

Oh No! Not `The Talk' I hoped. She knew I liked Todd, and she's seen us holding hands twice. She's not naïve. God, I hope she didn't want to talk about S-E-X with me. I don't think I could bear it. Not with my mother!

I went into my bedroom and removed my clothes. I looked at myself in the mirror. Most of the bruises were now turning a faint yellow. They didn't look too bad. Fortunately, I hadn't been hit in the face, so there weren't any visible marks there, except for a small scratch when I hit the cafeteria floor. I had taken a couple of kicks to the back of my head, which had caused me to pass out, but they weren't noticeable. The only sign that something had happened to me was the cast on my right arm.

I walked naked down the hall to the bathroom. I turned on the water to the shower, and when it was hot enough I stepped in. The water felt good running down my back. I turned around and let it hit my chest. Soon it was hitting my dick. That got a reaction! I hadn't taken care of business for the past week, and my make out session with Todd hadn't helped either. I was a horny sixteen year old boy with rampant hormones, remember! My dick was rock hard!

I began to stroke it with my left hand. I usually jacked off with my right hand, but since it had a cast on it, I couldn't do it like I normally do.

Boy, this was difficult. I couldn't get the right rhythm going. I was so horny I had to do something. I grabbed the soap and lathered myself good. Then I closed my eyes and thought of Todd. I imagined that he was here with me, and that it was him stroking my cock. It was his hand wrapped around me, and I was stroking him back. Then he began to rub on my chest and I could sense that he had dropped to his knees. I imagined he had let go of my dick and engulfed my hardness into his mouth.

Oh, yes! This was working! I could feel my balls tighten and I knew it wouldn't be long. Yeah, Todd was sucking my dick, taking all my six inches down his throat. Suddenly, the cum shot out and splashed onto the wall of the tub. It was flying everywhere while I continued to stroke. I must have shot four or five good loads. Damn, it felt good.

I stood there letting the water wash away the cum while I tried to regain my breath. I can't believe I just imagined having sex with Todd. We hadn't even discussed this yet. I knew we were both not ready for anything serious, but it sure didn't hurt to think about it!

After showering, I tiptoed naked back to my room. I could hear my mother in the kitchen preparing supper. I put on some sweats and went down stairs to join her.

"Have a seat, dinner is almost ready." She pointed to my chair and I sat down.

She made two plates, put them on the table, then sat down across from me. We ate in silence for several minutes.

"You and Todd seem to be getting along pretty well. Do you like him?" She asked, breaking the silence.

Oh, no! No, Mom! Not here! Not now! I'm not ready for this. `The Talk' was coming. I knew it.

"You know if you and Todd become serious, you have to be careful." She stated firmly.

"Mom, I can't have this conversation with you." I shouted.

"Nonsense, why not? If you can't talk to me who can you talk to?" She asked.

"I can talk to Mr. Henderson." I responded. Mr. Henderson was the guidance counselor at school, and a very good friend of my mother's.

"Oh, Pooh!" she said. "Mr. Henderson is so old, he probably doesn't even remember what his dick is for anymore. He thinks you only use it to pee."

I was taking a drink of milk as she said this, and instantly spit it out across the table. I took the napkin and wiped my very embarrassed face with it.

"Mom, I can't believe you said that." I was laughing hysterically and tears were rolling down my cheeks. I looked over at my mother and she had the widest smile on her face.

"Good. Now we've broken down the barriers. Let's talk." The laughter left her face and she got very serious.

"Honey. I've been around young people all my life. I've seen first hand what teenage sex can do to kids who experience too much-too soon, when they aren't mentally prepared for it.

"I've seen kids fall in love one day, and then fall out the next. I've watched young girls give their bodies willingly to some boy they thought they loved, only to have him drop her afterwards and then brag about it to his friends. To him it was just another notch on his belt.

"I've watched fifteen year old girls get pregnant and then have to raise the baby alone. The father would just leave her, and many times her family would refuse to help.

"I can't tell you how many times I've comforted a girl who had just had an abortion and couldn't live with the guilt."

I sat there and listened to her intently. She knew what she was talking about and she loved me enough to tell me all this. `The Talk' was becoming a learning experience.

"There are diseases that can come with sex, especially unprotected sex. Besides pregnancy, which I guess we don't have to worry about." She grinned and I turned a beautiful shade of red. "There's syphilis, gonorrhea, and herpes. Since you're gay, you have to be aware of AIDS and HIV."

She reached down and picked up a book off the floor. "Here, I want you to read this."

I took it and read the title. It was a book about gay teenagers and the risk of HIV.

She then reached down and handed me a small bag. I opened it up and inside was a box of condoms and some lube.

"Mom!" I screamed. "I can't believe you bought this!" Where did she buy this stuff? Everyone in town knew my mother and she couldn't just walk into a drugstore and buy this without raising eyebrows. I had been red earlier, but now my face was scarlet!

"I know you probably don't need these now," she threw me a questioning look. I adamantly shook my head no.' "I'd rather we be open with each other, than to have to prepare a funeral for you someday. I love you too much to pretend that these things dont exist or they won`t happen to us." Tears were beginning to form in her eyes.

"You're a smart boy. You've always made good decisions in the past and I'm going to trust that you continue to make good decisions."

"I love you, Mom!" I got up and walk around the table. She held out her arms and I sat down in her lap. We threw our arms each other and embraced.

"Now get your fat ass off me! What have I been feeding you?" She pushed me off her lap and onto the floor. We both burst into a round of laughter. What I had dreaded earlier, had actually turned out to be a good experience.

"Now go upstairs and do your homework. You have school tomorrow." She said, getting up from the table. She reached over and grabbed the condoms and lube and tossed them to me.

"I don't ever want to know if you use these!" We both burst out laughing again.

"Wish I'd had them this afternoon." I kidded her. Her face suddenly paled.

"Just kidding!" I laughed. "You should have seen your face!"

I grabbed the book and turned my back to walk out, when suddenly a red slipper hit my back. I turned around and she was removing her other one. I quickly fled the room, laughing all the way up the stairs.

I sat at my desk and did the homework that Todd had brought me. It wasn't much. Most of my teachers were pretty cool. I was an honor student and had a high GPA. Most of them knew I could easily catch up when I returned.

After finishing up I started to read the book Mom had given me earlier. I was astonished by what I read. I'd never given STD's much thought, but since I had a boyfriend- I hope- it was something to consider.

It amazed me the statistics I read about teenagers and HIV. The book said that one-fourth of all new infections in the US involved people 21 and younger! Most HIV-infected youths didn't even know they were infected because they were never tested. It went on to say that most people diagnosed in their 20's and even 30's had probably been infected in their teens. This was some really heavy shit. I'm glad my mother cared enough about me to give me the book. I probably would never had found this information on my own, or would never have given it much thought.

I finished reading and snuggled into my bed. This had been a very interesting day. I had kissed my first boy whom I hoped would be my boyfriend.. I still didn't know if we could officially call ourselves a couple. We hadn't gotten that far. I was enjoying his kisses so much it just didn't seem important then.

Before I drifted off to sleep, I thought about school tomorrow. It had been almost a week since I was last there. The rumors must have been flying. I guess the worst thought was that of having to face Shaun again.

This was the first time I had really thought about him over the past few days. Todd had been a pleasant distraction. However, in reality I still had to deal with Shaun, my former best friend.
