Cheddar's, Chapter 9

True to his word, Adam got on his laptop to send off an email to report the incident to the corporate office the minute he got home. He asked Parker to proof his writing for any mistakes, or suggestions in wording, before he hit the "send" button. Parker read it carefully, and found it to be fine.

"Remind me not to cross swords with you!" he joked. "I'll bet you'll get your job back if you want it."

"I'm not sure I care one way or the other. What I do care about is not being treated like trash. Just because I'm a server doesn't mean I'm a low-life. I have to do this for the other people I've worked with as well as for my pride."

"Go for it, Baby! Um, could I interest you in continuing our celebration in bed? My homework is caught up; how about yours? Maybe we could `cross swords' or something"

"I'm good with that, as long as I get my beauty sleep before swimming tomorrow. Somehow, I think I'll sleep better after our celebration..."

"I read an article about the health benefits of sperm as a sleep aid in addition to containing vitamins, antioxidants, and protein," Parker grinned. "I can find the link for you if you want."

"I don't doubt your word. Besides, right now, I want the benefits directly from the source instead of reading about them!"

Having had an awesome orgasm did make Adam sleep more soundly than usual. It calmed him down from the excitement of his new-found riches, and his run-in with Gloria, and led to pleasant dreams.

He woke up before his alarm, feeling great. He got into the shower with Parker for a few minutes, just to rinse off any dried semen that might remain, put on his Speedo under his jeans, and grabbed an energy bar to help keep him from starving before breakfast.

It happened to be the day his coach had set aside for time-trials. Adam shaved a couple of seconds off his last benchmark in the breaststroke. He was thrilled, and Coach Benson was very complimentary.

"I don't know what you've been doing in the past week to make this kind of improvement, but whatever it is, keep it up! At the rate you're going, you could have your best season yet. You might even score a scholarship for college."

"Thanks; several things have emerged to make my life better. I think it's a sign of things to come."

Having kept his phone shut off most of the day during classes, Adam missed a call from the Cheddar's regional manager. He responded to it before leaving the building.

"Hello, this is Adam Baxter returning a call from Mr. Kohn."

"Can you hold for a couple of minutes? Mr. Kohn is on another line."

"Okay."

Adam waited on a bench in the foyer, somewhat impatiently, because he was eager to get back to the apartment to finish his homework. However, he decided to pull out his Notebook and work while he was on hold. It turned out to a smart use of his time, since he waited nearly five minutes.

"Hello, Adam, this is Marvin Kohn, are you still on the line."

"Yes sir, I'm here."

"I apologize for the wait. The call I was taking concerned your email to headquarters, and was quite important. I don't want you to feel that I, or anyone else in the company, would treat you with disrespect by assuming that our time is more valuable than yours. I was talking to a man who was in the booth across the aisle from you last night. He's one of those `mystery' customers who we treat to free meals and a slight monetary compensation for checking up on the quality of our food and our service. Anyway, when he filled out his evaluation, he noted that the manager, Gloria Santos, treated you and your guest with disrespect. We will be doing a thorough investigation of the incident. In the meantime, you are NOT fired, and we hope that you will see fit to stay on."

"I don't think I want to do that, but I'll keep it in mind. I just don't understand the rule that prevents me from eating at Cheddar's like anyone else. I feel that I'm not socially below the rest of the guests."

"Where did that come from?"

"Gloria had told us it's company policy."

"I helped write the code of ethics for our employees, and I guarantee you there is no such rule."

"You can ask others who work there, or I can send you a copy of her rant to me. My boyfriend recorded it on his cell."

"I would very much like a copy of it! I'll give you the address where you may send it."

"Thanks, Mr. Kohn, you have made me feel much better. I might have complained about Gloria earlier, but I was desperate for the job. Now, I'm not in financial straits, and don't know if I care."

"Well, I still hope you'll stay on. The head of the wait-staff said you're an excellent server."

"Thanks!"

Adam got onto his bicycle to go back to the apartment. It was a gray afternoon, and the streets were busy, as well as a little slick from the freezing mist. At an intersection, a car slid through a stop sign, clipping the back wheel of his bicycle, and throwing him onto the pavement. He got up, shaking, but didn't seem to be hurt other than a little tenderness in his left knee, probably caused by bruising. He hoped it wouldn't mess up his swimming!

"Oh my God!" the lady exclaimed as she got out to check on him. "I wasn't speeding, but I had no control. It was like black ice. I'm so sorry. May I drive you to the hospital?"

"I don't think I'm hurt badly," Adam doubted.

"May I at least take you home, then? I think your rear wheel is ruined. Do you live far away?"

"No, just a few more blocks. I'm pretty close to campus."

"Please put your bike in the trunk. I have a bungee cord to hold the lid down."

"Okay, I appreciate it; my knee is a little sore."

"I'll want to talk to your parents and give them all my insurance info. I'll certainly pay your medical bills, and replace your bike with a new one. Make sure your electronic devices aren't broken! If they are, I'll replace them too."

"Um, I'm on my own, but I'm of age, so I can take care of the insurance stuff, or my housemate can help me."

"Hi Parker, I'm home."

"You're a little late; is everything okay, Babe?" Parker called as he came into the living room in his boxers.

"Oops, I didn't know we had company," he said, hurrying back into the bedroom to put on a pair of sweats and a T-shirt.

As soon as he returned, Adam began to introduce them to each other.

"This is my roommate, Parker Grim. Parker, this is Ms..."

"I'm Ardyce Dowd, and I hit your friend's bike on Dodge street where it was slick as glass. He says he's okay, but I think he should have an x-ray to make sure. I'd be happy to drive both of you to the emergency room."

"I agree with you that he should be looked at," Parker said. "There's a walk-in clinic not far away, but I can take him there."

"Here's my insurance card, if you want to write down the information."

"I'll just make a copy on my printer. That would be easier."

"Here, make a copy of my driver's license too, so you have everything."

`Could we eat before we go," Adam pleaded, after Ms. Dowd had left. "You know how long it can take to be seen, and I'm starved as usual."

"Yup, I have our dinner heating in the oven, and we'll take care of that first, as long as you're not in a lot of pain."

"I'm feeling pretty okay, but maybe I should ice my knee."

Parker helped Adam out of his jeans and checked his knee before they sat down. He wrapped it with an ice pack, and helped Adam put on sweat pants over it.

"Okay, that does it! I'm not letting you out on your bike until spring. Even then, I don't want you on those narrow streets, especially the old brick ones. We're getting you a car. I'll call the realty agency and tell them we're using the garage that goes with the empty second floor apartment. They can rent it without that amenity!"

"Yes, Mother." Adam giggled.

"Baby, I'm sorry if I'm acting like an overbearing parent, but I don't want anything to happen to you!"

"I know. I appreciate it, and I'll quit making smart-ass remarks. Besides, if you WERE my mother, I wouldn't want to have sex with you!"

"You are so naughty!"

"And you love it."

"Yup."

The guys took homework with them to do while Adam waited to be seen. It didn't take as long as they'd feared, but they got it all done just before his name was called.

Parker accompanied him to the examining room to make sure he heard the prognosis too.

Adam was sent down the hall for several x-rays, and soon had the results. As he'd suspected, nothing was broken, and no ligaments had been torn. He was advised to continue icing to keep the swelling down and was given a few pain pills in case he needed them. Along with the meds came a warning not to abuse them.

Back home, they showered together, and climbed into their shared bed. Parker insisted on giving Adam a massage to help de-stress his body, and it worked. Almost everything, but his dick, turned to jelly under Parker's caring hands. He soon found a way to take the stiffness out of that appendage too.

Adam was willing to reciprocate, but Parker said he'd already received his reward in protein and vitamins. They drifted off snuggled together.

Adam felt good enough in the morning to attend swimming practice, and Parker drove him there.

"Now, you call me when you're ready to be picked up. I don't want you walking on that knee any more than you have to. If there's a problem, take a cab. NO WALKING!"

"Yes, Dear," Adam snickered.

"You are spoiling for a spanking, young man!"

"Yes, Daddy, I am," Adam stuck out his tongue.

"Later, Babe," Parker said as he kissed Adam before he got out of the car.

Coach Benson told Adam to use the whirlpool, and then ice again instead of swimming that day, and to skip the next practice completely.

"We'll see how you feel on Friday. I don't want you to mess up your knee. If it's not better by the weekend, I don't want you participating in the meet on Saturday."

"Okay, I'll do as you say, but I'm really not hurting much. I haven't even taken the pain pills, just Motrin."

When Parker picked up Adam after school, they headed directly for Baxter Motors to find a vehicle for Adam to drive. He smiled on the way, realizing that he could have anything on the lot that he wanted.

Kyle Pearson, the sales manager strode out of his glass-walled office when he saw the pair of young men come in the door. He was intent on making the dealership the friendliest one in town.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen. May I get you something to drink while you check out what we have to offer?"

"No, that's okay, Kyle," Adam smiled.

"Oh my God, Mr. Baxter, I haven't seen you since you were a lot younger."

"You can cut the mister, stuff," Adam responded. "I'm still who I always was."

"Not exactly, you're now my boss."

"Nope, if I keep the dealership, I'll still be Adam to you. You always treated me nice even when I was a little kid, so I'm not going to go all high and mighty with you. Right now, I'm looking for transportation."

"As the new owner, you can pick whatever you want and write it off as a business expense. What do you have in mind?"

"I looked at the on-line inventory. Is that little red 2014 Honda Fit still on the lot?"

"It is, but it's not a very flashy car."

"All I want right now is something small that will fit in an old garage, and squeeze into those little parking spaces in the school lot without picking up a bunch of door-dings. The Fit is supposed to get good mileage, and it has a great safety record."

"That it does. It's also in perfect condition. It actually was driven by a little old lady who mostly used it for going to church on Sunday. I kid you not!"

"Could I take it for a test drive?"

"Certainly, I'll have Terry get it for you. He's a new salesman, and he'll get credit for the `sale' even though it won't cost you anything."

"That's cool! I see you're still a great guy, looking out for the new employees."

Terry didn't know Adam "from Adam," as the saying goes. He thought he was dealing with a kid who wouldn't be old enough to purchase a car without having an adult sign for him, but he didn't treat him that way. Adam was impressed, and would make sure to give him a good review when he talked to Kyle later.

Parker sat in back, checking out the room there. He was impressed with how well it was made. He wasn't sure he'd want to drive across the country in it, because it rode a bit stiff, but it would be fine for town, especially with the hauling capacity it had when the back seats were folded down.

"Okay, I'll take it," Adam announced after driving it across town, and onto the Interstate for a few miles. "For a small vehicle, it handled very well on the highway. It has more punch than I'd have guessed from that tiny engine."

"I can knock off $200 from the asking price, but that's my limit," Terry offered. "Will you be financing it with us?"

"Nope, I'll just be signing it out."

"I don't understand."

"I'm the new owner of the dealership." Adam grinned.

"For real?"

"Yup, I'm Adam Baxter, as in Baxter Motors."

"Oh wow! I had no idea; did I do okay?"

"You were great."

After setting up the insurance and signing the application for the title, they were free to go. They rode to Cheddar's in it for dinner, opting to leave Parker's Beemer in the lot and pick it up of the way home.

Cheddar's was moderately busy, but the guys were seated quickly, and got Jason for their waiter, as Adam had requested.

"Good evening, gentlemen!" Jason greeted them cheerily. "Let me guess, you'd like water with lemon."

"I'd like a margarita, but I'm not old enough," Adam giggled. "Yes, that's what I want."

"Me too," Parker seconded.

"Will you be having the chicken pie?" Jason asked when he returned.

"I'm having a burger tonight," Adam announced.

"Me too," Parker grinned. "I'm starting to sound like an echo."

"No problem," Jason said. "Those are great favorites on the menu, and it makes my life easy when I can simply put the number `2' in front of the order."

The guys ate their salads while their main dishes were being prepared. They had barely finished when the burgers arrived.

"Did you notice that Gloria isn't here tonight?" Jason asked.

"I hadn't seen her, but I figured she might be avoiding me," Adam said.

"I think they fired her. There's a big sign in the kitchen that says all employees are always welcome to eat here with their guests, and that Cheddar's values their staff, just as they value other customers."

"Hmm... I'm happy to see that all are welcome, but I hate to think that I was responsible for Gloria's losing her job. I wasn't that upset!"

"Don't take all the credit for that," Jason insisted. "There have been other complaints about her treatment of people, and there's rumor about some bookkeeping discrepancies. I think this was building up for a while. Oops, I'd better go check on table 4. I think they're ready for dessert."

The garage which usually went with the second floor apartment was in the block of three which had been built near the alley at the back of the property after the house had been turned into apartments. Therefore, it was roomier than the original next to the house. The guys decided to trade spots because Adam's car would fit easily into the old one and there would be room to open the doors on both sides of Parker's car in the newer one. It would work better for both of them.

Since they were caught up on their studies, Adam offered to give Parker a massage. Parker was all for it, and soon they were showered and in bed. Adam use his best techniques to bring Parker to the edge, and back off again. Parker encouraged Adam to turn around before it was over, so he could bring Adam to climax with him.

Both of them received their share of protein and vitamins in a rich, creamy sauce!
