CHAPTER 2

(1)

When Jesse was dressed and ready for breakfast, Adam opened the door and went into the kitchen.

"Morning, hon." Francine Conner said. She sat at the counter reading the morning paper and drinking coffee.

"Hey, mom." Adam said. He walked over to the tray which sat ready to be carried in to Jesse. Both plates of food sat there with juice for each of them. "Where's Josh?"

"Right here." Josh said as he walked in through the back door. "Had to toss some trash out. Ya'll ready to eat?" He asked. He tried to look at the younger version of himself and made an effort to keep a smile on his face.

"Yeah, all set. "I'll carry the tray in. Thanks." Adam said. He picked up the large wooden bed tray and carried back into Jesse's temporary bedroom.

"You didn't tell him." Josh said as he walked to the sink to wash the pan and dishes he'd used to prepare the French toast.

"I didn't think there was anything I needed to tell him, Josh." Francine said. She looked up from her paper. It was amazing to watch this young man. He was truly a mirror image of her late husband. So much like Josh's too. In all the excitement of the recent weeks she hadn't really taken the time to look at the new caretaker she'd hired for Jesse. He really did resemble Gary very closely, almost too closely.

"Yeah, guess not." Josh said as he began to clean the kitchen from where he'd cooked breakfast. He worked in silence, not really knowing what to say to the woman. He wasn't completely comfortable around any of these people yet, except for Jesse. He was growing way too close to his charge for comfort; his or Adam's. There was a tricky one. Adam was showing early warning signs of a deep seeded jealous streak.

"Josh?" Francine began. "Where are you from?"

"Here. I grew up in Columbus." Josh said.

"Born here too?" Francine asked. She didn't know why but she was almost certain that Josh was far too close a resemblance for their not to be some kind of connection to her husband.

"Yeah, I guess. I was adopted at birth. Don't know anything about my biological parents." Not the exact truth but pretty damn close. He did know who his mother was. She had been the one to adopt him. She didn't want anyone to know she had delivered a child so she fabricated a story about where her new son had come from.

"Are your parents here too?"

"My mom is. My dad...Well, he died. I never got to know him. I was a baby when it happened." He answered. The line of questioning was becoming uncomfortable for him. He had discussed his past with people before but he preferred not to have to think about it. Not to think about the fine line between the truth and the fiction his mother had fed him from childhood on.

"Okay. I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable." Francine said. She had noticed the young man tense up as he spoke. There was far more to Josh Blakly than met the eye.

"I understand, Mrs. Conner. You want to know about someone you are letting live in your house and be around your family. It's natural." He added hoping that it would bring an end to this discussion.

"Thanks for understanding, and please, call me Fran. We aren't formal around here." Francine Conner said. She looked at the boy as he continued washing dishes.

(2)

"Damn, babe! He can sure cook." Jesse said.

"Yeah, it's pretty good." Adam replied. The food was good, that was no lie. He wished Jesse wasn't so... thrilled with everything Josh did though.

"You okay?" Jesse asked. He looked to the chair where Adam sat. His half empty plate sat on a TV stand in front of him. "You didn't eat much."

"Mom and I had a bite on the way home." Adam said. He and his mom had gotten Icee's and candy at the gas station on the way back home. Not big on too many sweets, they indulged a bit.

"You're pissed about something." Jesse said. "If you don't tell me I'll kick... well, maybe not kick, but I'll do something to your ass!" He said.

"Don't joke about it." Adam said. He felt more and more like Jesse wasn't taking his condition as seriously as everyone else was.

"Okay, sorry." Jesse said. He pushed his fork around in the small puddle of syrup remaining on his plate.

"No, I'm sorry. I'm being a jealous bitch and I said I wouldn't be." Adam said. He sat with his legs spread out under the TV tray. He crossed his arms and uncrossed them as he chewed his lower lip in classic `Adam's upset' way.

"You have no reason to be. You know that, right?" Jesse asked. He was getting concerned about Adam. He was afraid everything was more than his lover could take. Adam had been handling things so well so far. He hoped that he wouldn't keep pulling away emotionally. That was what he was doing, or at least that was the way it seemed to him.

"I know. Josh is just so...perfect." Adam said. He sounded angrier than he had intended. "Babes, if he makes you this uncomfortable we can ask your mom to replace him." "Really?" Adam said. He looked up at Jesse's face for the first time since the conversation had begun. "If it would make you happy? Damn right." Jesse said. He meant it too. Yeah, he liked Josh and maybe he was showing that too much. Maybe it was his fault that Adam was feeling under appreciated. "You're all that matters to me, man. If I lost you...Hell if I lost you it wouldn't matter if I could ever walk again."

"Jesse, don't say that. I'll be here as long as you want me to be. You are the only person besides mom and dad that I have ever loved." He got up from his chair and sat on the edge of the narrow hospital bed. "I'll work harder at getting along with Josh, okay?"

"It's up to you babe."

"I don't see why I can't just do it all myself." Adam said.

"Because you need a break from time to time. You shouldn't have to wipe my ass and get me in a shower, though I do like you bathing me..." Jesse said.

He smiled with all his charm.

Adam laughed. The sound broke the darkness within him and he felt better for the first time in days. He could do this. Jesse loved him, needed him more than anybody else. That was enough for a lifetime.

"Move this fucking tray. I wanna kiss my boyfriend." Jesse said.

"Yes, sir." Adam said. He stood and lifted the wooden tray. He placed it on the table and stacked his own breakfast dishes on it for the next trip to the kitchen. He walked back to the bed and got on top of Jesse's body.

"I love you, sexy." Jesse said.

"I love you more." Adam replied.

The two boys moved their mouths together and began a lengthy game of tonsil hockey.

Jesse was just about to ask Adam to have sex again when they heard the knock on the door. "Dammit!"

"Be cool, I'll handle it. He got off the bed and Jesse, walking quickly to the door. He opened it and saw Josh standing there. He felt that cold spot trying to spread again. "Yeah?"

"I want to wash the dishes, that is if you guys are done with them." Josh said. He felt like he had interrupted something, heck, with these two lovers, he probably had.

"Yeah, okay." Adam said. He opened the door all the way and Josh walked into the room.

"I've got your pills here too, Jesse." Josh said.

"Cool." Jesse replied. He hated taking the pain pills but he knew he needed them or he would never be able to get anything accomplished therapy wise. He swallowed two pills with the remainder of his glass of orange juice.

"I'll leave you guys to it then. The physical therapist will be here in about an hour." Josh said.

"Thanks." Jesse said. He smiled at Josh. Nice guy, cute too, but he would never trade Adam for him. Not in a million years.

Adam locked the door after Josh exited the room with the wooden bed tray of dishes.

"Well, we have about forty minutes to play then." Jesse said.

"Not right now. We'd better just wait until after the therapist leaves."

"Okay. You're probably right. Why risk another embarrassing scene." Jesse said. He tried to cover his disappointment.

"I need to go make a couple of phone calls. I'll be back in a bit." Adam said. He walked back to the door.

"Okay, I guess I'll read a while." Jesse replied. Damn, the distance was back again. If this kept up, Josh would really have to go.

"Bye." Adam said.

"Later babe." Jesse replied.

Adam walked out, closing the door behind him. He didn't look at Josh standing at the sink or at his mom reading her paper as he made his way through the room and into the hall.

(3)

"He really doesn't trust me does he?" Josh asked. He walked into Jesse's room.

"Don't take it personally, man. Adam is just shy and a little possessive. He'll warm up to you fairly soon. He just needs to understand that it's him I love. I do love him, you know? Adam is my world; without him... well, I'd rather not think about that." Jesse said.

"I know, dude. It's cool. I could tell him that I have no intentions of getting between you two, but I doubt that he would believe me. If I had to pick one of you guys, I'd go for Tommy or his friend Ryan." Josh lied. He grew more determined to keep his urges for Jesse under control. "You therapist will be here shortly. You want to get in your chair or stay in bed?"

"I'll stay here." Jesse replied. He didn't want Adam walking in to find him in Josh's arms, no matter how innocent the act of moving him truly was.

(4)

Adam returned to Jesse's room shortly after the physical therapist left. He looked at his partner laying with his eyes closed on the bed. He thought about his love for the other boy and how much he wanted, no, needed him. Without Jesse there was no real life.

"I'm sorry." Adam said. He sat on the chair next to the bed. He held his hands together tightly in his lap.

"For what?" Jesse asked. He opened his eyes and turned to look at his true love. The therapy had been rough and he almost felt spasms in his right leg which the therapist said was a good sign.

"Oh, for being a jealous little queen. I get so scared that you will decide you don't love me anymore. Guys like Ryan and Josh just remind me of how much I don't know about pleasing you. I can deal with Tommy because I know he has no ideas about you two being together." Adam said. He took in a deep breath and let it out.

"Adam, nothing that anybody does, says or thinks will ever make me stop loving you. You are all I want, man. All I will ever need is in one perfect package and that is you." He wished desperately that Adam would relax and trust in their love. That he would gain enough self-esteem that he wouldn't be scared of being replaced. Yeah, Ryan and Josh were sexy as hell, but there was nothing they could offer him that Adam didn't already make available to him.

He didn't just have a lover in Adam, he had a partner, and with Francine there, a family. No yelling or fighting, just love and respect by each of them for the others.

"I love you." Adam said.

"Come here." Jesse said. He smiled and nodded his head toward the bed.

Adam stood, went and locked the door and stripped quickly as he made his way back to the bed. He had to have Jesse inside of him. Needed to feel that perfect cock buried inside of him.

Jesse had his shirt off by the time Adam climbed on the bed. It took nearly no effort to get Jesse to the same level of undress as Adam. The two boys began kissing, wrapping their arms around each other, totally unaware of the world around them.

Adam grabbed lube and quickly applied to Jesse's throbbing hard on. He kissed and sucked Jesse's right nipple. He wondered what it would feel like if Jesse's nipple were pierced. He hated tattoos but piercing interested him. He decided that if Jesse would get his pierced, he would as well. "What were you just thinking?" Jesse asked. He caught that sneaky look Adam had when an idea of something new crossed him mind.

"I want us to get our nipples pierced." Adam replied. He kept his right hand busy rubbing and squeezing Jesse's hot cock. He moved himself into position and lowered his ass down until he could feel the spongy head pushing at his anus. He smiled and sunk down with a solid thrust, impaling himself on Jesse's six plus inches. He moaned as he began to ride his lover, relishing the feel of the solid cock touching and meeting with his insides. He was so horny that he shot instantly. He kept riding Jesse with pleasure, working to get his lover off.

Jesse moaned, filled with the love and lust of having sex with his lover. He had already forgotten Adam's comment about piercing by the time he shot his wad into Adam's rectum. He felt the hot liquid ooze down his shaft to puddle on his sparse pubes. Adam's ass was still as tight as it had been the first time. It still melded around his member and stroked it with each thrust.

Adam let Jesse slide out of him and relaxed on top of his boyfriend's warm sweaty body. He smiled and kissed Jesse, then closed his eyes and rested his head on the other boy's shoulder.

"So?" Adam asked. He kept his eyes closed.

"What?" Jesse asked. He ran his hands over Adam's sweat slick back.

"Getting our nipples pierced." Adam replied.

"Let's think about it. I'm not sure your mom would be too pleased with the idea." Jesse said. He had contemplated doing what Adam wanted to try but had always backed out. Having his left ear lobe pierced was one thing, but his nipple? Ouch!

"Okay, I'll just have to ask her." Adam said. He was a little disappointed. He had really hoped that Jesse would be an hot for the idea as he was.

"Your funeral, babe." Jesse said. He tried to relax again. He hated putting Adam off about anything, but he felt he had to be responsible about things. He would get his pierced if Adam pushed, but he wouldn't push the issue on his own. He hoped that his lover would come up with something else, something that didn't involve needles.

"I'm sleepy." Adam said. He moved to Jesse's right and helped his lover adjust so that he could spoon around Adam's back. He felt Jesse's semen slick cock come to rest between his cheeks again and he dozed off.

Jesse ran his hand over Adam's smooth skin. It took him twenty minutes before he too could go to sleep.
