"Dad's Dilemma" 01 written by T. Chase McPhee

Looking forwards to getting my freedom to drive, came at my sixteenth birthday. It came as a blessing for mom, dad and my older brother. Now they didn't have the feeling of having to taxi me all over creation. Sure, I had to share my older brother, Steve's car, but at least he got off the hook of taking me places. Of course, not only my driving skills, but what I was driving, became an obsession to show off to my friends.

"C'mon, get in Rob."

"Cool car, Jake."

"My bro's car."

"I know, but with you behind the wheel, it adds a new dimension to it."

"Thanks, " I acknowledged Adam's kind feelings.

I know Adam's attention was drawn to me. Now he had a reason for watching me. I giggled, knowing this.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing, other than now there's `a reason' for watching me?"

"What do you mean?"

"Look, Adam, we're both sixteen, friends for a long time. Don't you think it's time you leveled with me?"

I thought I had the same feelings, hoping Adam did too.

"I like you, Jake."

Beating around the bush, I wanted to make sure of his intentions.

"I like you too."

"How," he was being cautious, "do you mean it?"

I pulled over at the burger joint, passing up the opportunity to drive through.

Parking, I said, "Most likely the same way you're trying to convey?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Well, what are you feeling?"

"Feeling? I'm feeling like I want to touch you."

He held his hand near the door. I could summise it was in case I felt like hauling off and belting him, that it would make a quick getaway. However, I sensed the same feelings. I wanted to say them out loud, but waited for him to make some more reassurances.

"More than touch you... I mean I have this yearning to kiss you."

"Only kiss me, Adam?"

Slowly, Adam turned his attention to his lap. Sure enough, like me, he must've been feeling something with his cock. It partially tented his jeans, when he removed his books.

I let him know, "Me too!"

"So, what are we going to do about it?"

"We can't go to my place. Both my mom and Steve are home. What about your place?"

"My dad is off today. He and my mom are spending the day painting the den."

"Have you got any cash?"

"What for?"

"My brother took this girl, once, to a motel."

"Aren't we kind of young to be checking into a motel?"

"Not if it's a rundown place. Steve told me they charge like twenty bucks for as long as you want."

"How long?"

"Hours. Not for like sleeping over."

"Hmm... that would give us enough time to explore our feelings for each other. But will the desk clerk allow two sixteen year old boys take out a room?"

"Think about it. We have driver's licenses. You can pass for eighteen easy."

Most likely truth, since Adam was taller for his age. He could pass for a local college guy.

"But it says my birthdate on the face of the license."

"Steve said he went there when he was seventeen. The trick is to hold your thumb over the birth year."

"Think of it though, Jake."

"What's the problem?"

"Wouldn't the deskclerk know you are trying to hide somethine, dah?"

"Steve said it didn't matter."

"I'm confused. Why try to hide your birth year?"

"It leaves the deskclerk with a clear conscience. Steve says the rundown motels are aching for business. They'll let anybody in, with twenty dollars cash."

"Hmm... I'm not sure about this."

"Same thing I asked Steve about. He said the first time is the toughest. The second and third times come easier. Besides, we wouldn't be the only high school students trying to rent out a room."

"So, let me get this straight. Steve goes to the deskclerk, asks for a room, hides his birth year on his license and the deskclerk gives him a key?"

"Yup. Along with the twenty bucks."

Sitting back, letting it all sink in, Adam pressed against the seat.

"So, you want to try it?" I asked.

He replied, "I've been aching for a long time to get with a guy."

"So, here's our chance. Let's do it."

"Are you sure it has to be me asking for a room?"

"Believe me, Adam. You look eighteen or even older."

"I guess," Adam says, looking in the mirror, after turning the visor down. After rubbing his face, he also adds, "I've been meaning to try shaving. I suppose I am looking older than sixteen."

"So, you'll do it?"

"Can't you go with me? Pretend you're my younger brother?"

"We don't look like brothers. I have dark hair and you're a blond. You're at least six feet tall and I'm five-ten. Your facial hair is coming in and mine's not."

"But I'm supposed to look older."

"Maybe that's part of it. What do you think?"

"I'll do it, but I'm going to be as nervous as all hell."

"Same as Steve, the first time. Besides, I have twenty bucks. I'll pay for our first time."

As I drove out of the burger joint's parking lot, Adam kept mumbling, "Why do I have to look so damn-much older!"

If Adam felt skeptical about applying for a room, he should have been in the driver's seat. It was intimidating to pull into the motel driveway, look at the entrance, pull into a spot.

"So, we're here."

"Did you change your mind?" I posed to Adam.

"No. I don't think so. I'm just scared shit, that's all!"

"Me too. Here's the twenty bucks. Don't forget to hide the birth year with your thumb."

"Ugh!"

Adam said only one thing, before getting out of the car. For a minute there, I thought I would require the attention of the tire jack to pry Adam's hand off the door handle!

"Steve also says to say, `I need a room for a couple of hours.'"

"Okay." Then to help his self-esteem, Adam starts mumbling over and over, "I-need-a-room... I-need-a-room.."

I open my door, step out and yell to him, "For a coupla hours!"

At least I felt reassured when Adam went for his wallet. At least he was thinking about taking out his driver's license. He couldn't have been in there more than five minutes, when he shows at the front door. His smile was almost bursting with excitement. He dangled the turquoise key holder, with a long key hanging from it, so I could see the mission accomplished.

"How'd it go?"

"Like Steve said. The desk jockey didn't even ask to hold my driver's license. He just filled out the form, put my first name, Adam, down on it and handed me the key, after I forked over the twenty bucks."

"Cool! See? I had a lot of confidence in you. You should have some in yourself."

"I will, when I'm eighteen!"

Adam got in and I started up the motor.

"Where to?"

"Around back."

"Smart move."

"How so?"

"Think of it. He's not going to let two underaged guys get out of their car in broad daylight, in front of the motel."

"Yep. You're right."

So, Adam pocketed his wallet, then read 212' as I pulled Steve's car, temporarily mine, around back. I parked about the second space from a stairway. The back of the lot was in the shape of an L', with a dense grove of trees, separating it from the interstate. One couldn't see the trucks and cars, but they could be heard.
