Gay

This story is fiction. This story will also involve sexual and intimate relationships between two (or more) males, and if this offends you or it is illegal for you to be reading, then please leave. If you are under the age of consent for your community, please leave. And if it does offend you, I honestly don't know why you're even here in the first place. Really, though. It's perplexing.

Jake, also the school's track star, easily caught up with Dee, who wasn't really walking that fast anyway. He strode along side him. "Dee, what's up? Why're you upset?"

Dee shook his head and wiped away some tears with his free hand. "Go away." he whimpered. "I knew you didn't actually wanna be friends with me..."

"Oh, come on! That's not true!" Jake rolled his eyes briefly and tried to make eye contact with Dee. Dee wasn't having any of it. "Dee." Jake touched his arm, but Dee shook it off.

"I said get away from me!" In shaking him off, Dee dropped his books on the ground. Again. Seeing his books on the pavement for the third time in a row, Dee stopped. He gave an ironic sort of laugh, slightly scaring Jake. "What... the hell." As he bent down to pick them up, he saw that the cover of his Calculus book fell off. Dee sniffled, then collapsed completely in tears; his face in his hands.

He felt Jake pat his back and this time did nothing to stop it. Jake leaned over, finally catching a glimpse of his tear-stained face. For a while he was silent, with Dee just going through that inevitable sniffing that crying makes one go through.

Dee finally wiped his eyes completely, and sniffed resolutely. He looked up at Jake; his face was gentle and considerate, and Dee thought that he would cry again seeing it. He realized how much of a mess he must look right now, and was glad no one was there to see them.

"Okay..." Jake rubbed his back firmly. "...so will you tell me what's wrong?"

"..." Dee got up onto his knees, and wiped his eyes again, feeling a little itchy from his contact lenses. Jake smiled a little; he was also kneeling. Dee swallowed hard, trying to think of the best way to articulate. "O-Obviously... I didn't change schools j-just because of bullying. And yes, I...I-I have to agree with Jaina that Diana Celes is crazy school."

"Hey, don't listen to her-"

"She's absolutely right!" He yelled, and trembled. Dee looked around to make sure no one was eavesdropping. His voice reduced to a whisper. "I-It's all true... That molestation case? It was me." Dee bit his lip until it was almost bleeding again, cringing remembering. "My gym teacher, he was- it was- so wr-wrong, I hated every living moment of it, but he wouldn't stop! And I told him Ôno' but he would corner me, and-" he stopped, not wanting to go further. "...So finally, I did. I told. He dared me I couldn't but I did."

"...But that was just the beginning. I thoughtÐthat it was over by then; that-that I could just go to school like normal, but no one let me. The papers didn't say, but word got around what happened. And, I got attacked by classmates, by- by the teachers even! I couldn't... couldn't go anywhere without glares, or- or names, or someone throwing something, and Jake, they thought it was consentual! They called me slut and whore and, and... and they thought I would do it with them too, but it was wrong! They were wrong but I couldn't fight back." Dee truly did begin to cry again, talking in between sobs. "And my friends... m-my friends..." "O-only two of them stayed with me. Ellie and Kiera. My best... M-my best friends... And-and after that, they got hurt more than I did! And I was the one at fault."

"And- and a week later... They were found in the bathroom, holding hands. Blood all over the floor." Tears fell free flow. "They killed themselves! They- they killed- and I- it was my fault! All my fault!"

"So... there. I begged my mom to change schools. I show up here, I- I- I completely forget what happened, and I start with a clean slate. There." He forced himself to stop crying, and regained a shred of his composure. "Here I am now. A... whore, with two dead friends." He said it icily, with no humanity. As soon as he was done, Jake gently watching and still listening, Dee dropped his backpack off his arms, and stood up. "And now... now you know. I don't deserve any of this. Goodbye, Jake." He wiped his face again. "Just leave me alone."

Before Jake could get up, Dee ran at full speed to the school exit. "Dee..." he whispered, as though it would travel the wind and reach his ears. He gathered up Dee's backpack and his now decrepit books, and looked after him; he was long gone in no time.

Dee just kept on running, hearing his feet slam against the concrete. He passed some classmates who were notably confused by his outburst. Allegra brushed into him, but he didn't make eye contact. It was the middle of the school day; he was supposed to be going to Spanish, but that obviously was not what he had on his mind right now.

Dee wanted to die. He wanted to dig a hole six feet deep, climb in, and bury himself where no one could see. The rather brief incident he had with Jake and Jaina and... those two other guys he couldn't remember the names of... was too much to handle at once. And on top of that, he had to recall the past experiences at Diana Celes.

He shuddered, remembering the cruel touch that came with thoughts of Mr. Poeveldt. Tears stung, remembering Kiera's last words to him, before she and Ellie were found in the afternoon in a bloody heap:

"Don't worry, Dee. It's not your fault."

-even though it was. Everything was. Dee trudged down the sidewalk: he didn't want to go to school anymore. He didn't want to see teachers, classmates, those assholes Kari and Alan, not even Allegra or Jake.

...Jake.

Dee fumed, his head becoming a bastion of some awful emotion between anger and hopelessness. Flashbacks of Jaina cuddling and Jake smiling; Jaina kissing and Jake laughing rolled into his mind. Ohh, and their names both start with "J": Jacob and Jaina, how sweet. Maybe they'll get married someday.

"Ugh!" Dee stopped and kicked the ground. He shamed himself, thinking about something so trivial after everything. His mind was a disastrous mess that could not be cleaned; he couldn't think straight, and he could still feel himself trembling on his way home.

He prayed for them silently. ÔMaybe... I should join you.'

Allegra contemplated what just happened. ÔStrange. Usually cold and pissy are my character traits. Isn't Dee the shy but lovably zany one?'

She organized the thoughts in her head, trying to figure out what could be wrong. Grades? No. He was top of the class at this point. Parents? Couldn't be. He loved his mom, and plus it didn't make sense for that to be a problem in the middle of the school day. That left one possibility:

assholes.

Jake simply sat in the courtyard, holding Dee's books and backpack. He didn't have class for another period anyway, so he just sat staring at Dee's things. A shadow loomed over him. At first he wasn't sure if anyone was really there. But he concentrated; as he looked up, a girl with a book bag and dreads was staring right at him. Had he seen her before?

Whoever she was, she was pissed. "We need to talk."

"Fun" fact for fans!: I didn't ever mention it, but Allegra's last name is Morrison, after the amazing author Toni Morrison (I just read her book Love a couple of weeks ago). Allegra's look is based on a much younger Toni Morrison that I envision in my head (I'd hope Allegra's younger! Toni's 77 :D).

Chapter four ahoy...

What will Jake do? Or more importantly, what will Dee do? Or maybe more interestingly, what will Allegra do? There is no shortage of plot tension here! :D Chapter five may take a little while longer, but don't worry, not too long ^^.

As per usual, thanks for reading!
