Chapter 4: The Human

Endralin got out of bed and looked out the window of her father's palace. She looked upon the great Selleon Valley with its green trees and blue rivers. The yellow sun was rising above the Talura Mountains, bathing the valley in a golden hue. A cool breeze blew through the window into the room, carrying with it the fresh scent of wildflowers. The scenery did not fit Endralin's mood.

The 178-year-old Endralin draped her light-blue robe over her body and walked down the stairs into the main hall. Eledrel was at the table eating his breakfast of fruit and berries. "Good morning, Endralin," the elfin king said, watching his daughter walk by.

"Good morning, father," Endralin said. That was all that Endralin said before she walked straight out the door. It had been nearly five years that Endralin would simply just walk out the door in the morning, disappear for hours, and then return home soon after midday. Eledrel and Ristell knew that Endralin and Siyenna were close friends fifty years before and that Endralin was coping with Siyenna's death. They knew that Endralin's walks had a cathartic effect on her.

This morning, Endralin decided to follow the river that ran under the palace. She followed it down into a deep forest where she liked to meditate. Endralin sat down on a log, closed her eyes, and lost herself in her own thoughts. She thought about Siyenna, and tried her best to let go.

Then, Endralin was disturbed from her meditation by a stabbing pain in her heart. It was the same pain that she had felt on the face of the Talura Mountains five years before, just to a lesser degree. It was not enough to cause her to loose her balance, but it was enough to let her know that something was wrong. Endralin kept following the river, looking for the cause of her heartache.

As Endralin kept following the river she eventually saw something floating downstream. It was a body! Endralin concentrated and used her elfin powers to lower the water level. As the level fell, the body came ashore. Endralin ran to the body and found that an arrow was protruding from the chest. Then, Endralin was very surprised when she looked into the body's face. It was a girl with dark hair. At first, Endralin thought that it was Siyenna, but then she saw the round ears on the girl's head. It was a human.

Knowing that the humans had killed Siyenna at the Battle of Fendir, Endralin knew to hate humans. The blonde elf decided to throw the human back into the river and leave her to die. She was about to carry out her plan when the stabbing pain in her heart flared up again. It was then that Endralin noticed the girl's age. She was young, no older than seventeen by human standards. Even though Endralin hated humans, this girl was a living thing, and Endralin could not simply let her die. Endralin took the girl in her arms and ran as fast as she could back to Viendra.

Endralin ran up the steps of her father's palace. She opened the door to the main hall and entered with the girl in her arms. "Endralin?" her father asked. "What is going on? Who is this?"

"I found her in the river," Endralin said. "She's been shot with an arrow. She needs our help."

Eledrel walked up to Endralin to examine the girl in her arms. "It's a human!" he exclaimed. "You want us to save a human?"

"Father, she may be a human, but she is still young. She is dying and needs our help!" Eledrel thought for a moment. "Father, please!"

"Ristell," Eledrel called to the elderly nurse.

"Yes, Sir?" Ristell said, entering the main hall from a corridor.

"Get the infirmary ready. We have a visitor."

Endralin waited patiently outside the infirmary, waiting for Ristell to exit and give her news of the girl's condition. She thought about how much the girl looked like Siyenna. She believed that if Siyenna was still alive, she would look much like that girl did. Then, Ristell exited the infirmary, looking tired. "Well, Ristell?" Endralin asked. "What is the news?"

"She is going to be all right," Ristell said. "Although, I do not understand why we should help this human." Ristell started to walk off, acting very cranky.

"Where are you going?" the princess asked.

"Endralin, this human was in very bad condition. I had to give up much of my energy for her, and I am tired. I am going to bed so that I can regain my strength. And what's more, I do not know why I am sacrificing my own mystical energies to help somebody who might as well have been Siyenna's killer!"

With that, Ristell retired, leaving Endralin dumbfounded. Endralin entered the infirmary to check on the human girl. She looked at the brunette asleep on the bed. The arrow was sitting on a table beside the bed, still with a bit of the girl's blood on it. "Who are you?" Endralin asked the unconscious girl. "What are you doing here? How do you look so much like Siyenna? I really wish that I knew more about you."

Despite her hate for humans, Endralin felt some strange connection to this one. Her brain told her to kill the human, but every single one of her elfin senses told her that it was not the girl's time to die yet. Against all reason, the blonde elf stayed by the human's side and watched over her. Eventually, Endralin fell asleep.

Endralin found herself in a labyrinth of halls and corridors. "Hello?" she called out. "Is anyone here?" There was no answer. "Where am I?" Still no answer.

'Strange,' she thought to herself. Endralin decided to explore this maze. There were many doors. Endralin opened one door. However, behind the door was an impenetrable wall. The young elf continued exploring, trying to make sense of where she was. She opened another door. However, behind the door, she found another impenetrable wall. Most of the doors that Endralin tried were blocked. "Why are so many doors blocked?" Endralin wondered. Then, Endralin opened a door that was not blocked.

Suddenly, Endralin was falling down a rock face. She landed face-down in a body of water. She tried to swim, but she was too weak to move any muscles, and was drowning! Endralin managed to find the strength to pull herself back through the door and into the labyrinth again.

"Can you help me?" a voice said. Endralin turned around and saw the human girl standing in front of her.

"What's wrong?" Endralin asked.

"I'm lost. Can you help me find my way home?"

"I will try. Do not worry. I will help you." Endralin took the teenager's hand and walked with her through the maze.

"I can understand why you're lost," Endralin said. "There are so many directions to go and so many doors."

"I can only find one door that I can go through. That one." The girl pointed to one of the doors. Endralin looked and remembered the door.

"I tried that door also," the elf said. "I fell down a rock face and into some water."

"The same thing happens to me every time I open that door, and then I find myself back in this maze. All of the other doors I can't get through."

"Let us see if I can help you get through one of the blocked doors." Endralin and the girl went to another door. They opened it to find a wall blocking the way. Endralin used her elfin powers to freeze the wall. Now that the wall was frozen and brittle, Endralin punched the wall and broke it down.

Suddenly, Endralin found herself on the edge of a cliff. There were humans surrounding her, keeping her from running anywhere. "Why are you doing this?" Endralin asked in desperation. "You are my family and I love you. Please, don't kill me."

"You are no longer of any use to us," the oldest male human said. He then aimed a bow and arrow at Endralin and fired. A stabbing pain shot through Endralin's chest. She staggered and fell backward through the door and back into the labyrinth. The pain suddenly subsided, and Endralin saw that the wall had reappeared.

"I thought I knew what was behind there," the girl said to Endralin. "I guess I don't."

It was then that Endralin woke up. She found herself back in the infirmary. She brought her hands to her ears and felt them just as long and pointed as they should be. 'I must have dozed off,' the elfin princess thought. Endralin looked around and happened to see the bed that the human female was on. Endralin was startled to see the girl awake!

Chapter 5: Who am I?

"Where am I?" the girl asked.

"You are at my father's palace," Endralin replied. "My name is Endralin. My father is Eledrel, King of the Selleon Region. Who are you?"

"I am--" the brunette trailed off. "I am--" she trailed off again. Her brow ruffled, as if she was concentrating on something. She then looked up into Endralin's eyes. "I don't know," she said.

"You don't know?"

"No. I don't know who I am."

"You can't remember?"

"No. I can't. In fact, I don't remember where I'm from. I don't know where I live, who my family is. My first memory is falling down a mountain and landing face-down in a pool of water. I started drowning, and then I woke up here. That is all that I remember."

"You must have some kind of amnesia. You were in pretty bad shape when I found you."

"Found me?"

"I found you floating down one of the rivers in the Selleon Valley. I saved you."

"You are an elf."

"Yes."

"Why did you save me? Aren't the humans and elves at war?"

"You've remembered!" Endralin cried.

"No. I just have a feeling. But I do not hate you. I do not know why the humans and elves are at war, and I do not think that they should be." The brunette looked at Endralin to see the elfin girl staring into her eyes. "What is it?"

"What?" Endralin said, coming back to reality. "Oh, nothing. You just--remind me of someone that I once knew."

"You look kind of familiar to me too. Who was that person that I remind you of?"

"She was another elf, princess of the Lothorn Region. Her name was Siyenna. She had long, black hair and brown eyes, just like you."

"'Siyenna'," the human said to herself. "That name sounds familiar also."

"But she died five years ago. She was killed in a battle with--" Endralin trailed off, remembering that it was humans who were responsible for the death of her friend."

"With what?" asked the girl.

"With you!" Endralin shouted. "It's because of humans that my friend is dead! They killed her! I can never forgive them for what they did, and I don't know why I'm helping you!" Endralin ran off, crying. The girl was stunned. She started weeping as well.

Endralin was on her bed with her head in her hands. She was sad for Siyenna's death, and confused as to why she was helping the human in the infirmary. She wanted to give the girl what the rest of the humans deserved, but she could not. Something was simply holding her back from doing the simple task of killing the girl.

Then, there was a knock on her door. "Endralin," she heard her father say from behind the door, "can I come in?"

"Yes," Endralin said quietly. The door opened and Eledrel stepped in. "Father, what's wrong with me?"

"What are your troubles?" said the elfin king, sitting down on the bed next to Endralin.

"Five years ago, humans killed Siyenna in the battle of Fendir. Ever since then, I vowed to never rest until I had avenged her death. And now, there is a human child in the infirmary, about seventeen years old, equivalent to the age that Siyenna was when she died. It would be fitting vengeance to kill this human now, but I can't bring myself to do it. I simply cannot bring myself to kill her. Do you know what's wrong with me?" Endralin started crying again.

Eledrel held his daughter in his arms. "There there, Endralin. Relax. I'm here." Eledrel held Endralin in his arms until her sobbing subsided. "I've been reading your emotions since I walked into the room. I can sense that you are very confused. I know that you want to avenge Siyenna's death, but--" Eledrel read Endralin's emotions a bit more. "--but this girl plays a part in your future."

"You've learned how to sense the future. Can you tell me what part this human girl plays?"

"No. Not yet. I need a better understanding of who she is and where she came from. Did she say anything to you?"

"Yes. She told me that she could not remember anything about her life. Her first memory is falling down a mountain, and landing in a pool of water." It was then that Endralin had a sudden realization. "It was a memory!" she said to herself.

"What was a memory?" Eledrel asked.

"I fell asleep last night by the girl's side. I dreamed that I was with her in a maze of doors and halls. She said she was trying to get home. When I opened one of the doors, I experienced what she described, falling down a rock side, falling face-down in a pool of water, starting to drown. I think that those corridors in the dream represented the girl's mind, and each door represents a different memory!"

"How many doors did you open?"

"I opened many. However, most of them were blocked by some sort of wall. I think that those memories are being blocked somehow, and that is why she cannot remember anything before that moment."

"Where there any other doors that were not blocked?"

"No. However, I was able to break one of the walls down. Then, I found myself trapped on the edge of a cliff with humans surrounding me. One of them shot me with an arrow. Then, I was back in the labyrinth, and the wall reappeared."

"How were you able to enter her mind?"

"That I don't know. I fell asleep, and then just found myself there." Endralin suddenly felt guilty. "I should go back and talk to her. I shouted at her, blaming her for Siyenna's death. But, even if she did kill Siyenna, she does not remember that. I am almost glad that she has lost her memory because she now has no reason to hate elves."

The blonde elf walked back to the infirmary. She found the girl curled up under the covers, aiming away from the door. "Hey," Endralin said. "Are you all right?"

"No," said the human.

"I am sorry that I shouted. It's just that I am still a little angry about Siyenna's death. And you're so young. I do not think that someone of your age could kill anyone in cold blood. I should not blame you for the actions of other humans. I can sense that you are a kind person who does not want to hurt anybody. Can you forgive me for being mad at you?"

The girl uncurled and sat up in bed. "Yes, Endralin. I can forgive you. And I do forgive you."

"You know, I don't know what to call you. You have forgotten your name and you have no identification."

"What was your friend's name again?"

"You mean Siyenna?"

"Yes. That's a nice name."

"But, it's an elfin name."

"It's still a nice name."

Endralin looked at the girl again. The blonde again saw how much like Siyenna the girl looked. "That will do," Endralin said smiling. The brunette smiled as well. "Well, Siyenna. Why don't I show you around?"

Endralin got a white silk robe for Siyenna. After the brunette had put the robe on, Endralin started showing the girl around. As she was walking up the stairs to the tower that Endralin slept in, they bumped into Eledrel. "Oh," said the elfin ruler, "I am sorry, Endralin."

"That is all right, Father," Endralin replied. "The human girl is awake."

"Oh," said Eledrel, seeing the young girl. "Hello."

"You must be King Eledrel," said the brunette.

"That is correct."

"I was just talking with your daughter. I told her that I did not remember my name, so we came up with a new one for me."

"And what is that name?"

"Siyenna. My name is Siyenna."

Eledrel was surprised by the dark-haired girl's new name. "Well Siyenna," the elfin king said, trying his best to appear calm, "I am glad that you are able to make a new life for yourself."

"Thank you, Sir."

"Siyenna, you don't mind if I speak with my daughter for a moment, do you?"

"Of course not."

Eledrel brought Endralin several meters away to talk quietly with her. "Endralin, what in the world are you doing?"

"What do you mean, Father?"

"I know what you're trying to do. I remember the way Siyenna looked fifty years ago, and if Siyenna was still alive today, she would probably look much like this human does now. But helping this girl will not bring Siyenna back."

"You believe that I am trying to redeem myself for Siyenna's death by helping this girl. Maybe you're right. But besides that, I still sense that this human plays an important role in my future."

"Well, I just hope that we figure that out soon, because it may cost us if we don't."

"I understand, Father."

"If you feel you must, continue showing--Siyenna around."

"Thank you." Endralin returned to Siyenna. "Well. Shall we continue the tour?"

"Yes, Endralin. Thank you."

Endralin brought Endralin up to her room to show her a view of the Selleon Valley.

Chapter 6: Sleeping with the Enemy

It had been a week since the arrival of the human female, but none of her memory had returned. Despite Endralin's efforts, Siyenna's first memory was still falling off of the rock face. Endralin was still confused about the people standing around Siyenna and shooting her with the arrow. 'Why would the humans try to kill their own kind?' Endralin wondered. 'What did that human mean by "You are no longer of any use to us"?'

Despite the fact that she had not regained her memory, Siyenna was quite content in the elfin city of Viendra. She had come to consider Endralin as a friend. And to the blonde elf's surprise, she was starting to consider Siyenna as a friend as well. Because Endralin's bed was unnecessarily large, Siyenna and Endralin had been sleeping side-by-side for the past week. However, Endralin had not been sleeping naked as she did before the human teenager had entered her life.

One night, as Endralin and Siyenna were getting ready for bed, Endralin said, "Siyenna, I think that you should know something."

"Yes, Endralin?" The brunette asked.

"Before I found you in the river, I slept in my bed alone. I usually slept without any clothes on, and that was what I was used to."

"Oh," said Siyenna. "I am sorry, Endralin."

"No, do not be sorry. It is strange, but even though I've hated humans for the past five years, I have come to think of you as a friend."

"Well, thank you. I feel the same way about you."

"And, now that we're friends, I just thought that we would not be as self-conscious if I went back to my ways of sleeping naked. That is the way I have slept for 178 years, and I like it."

Siyenna thought for a moment. She had never thought about sleeping in the same bed with a naked female, and the prospect was a little unnerving to her. However, she did think that it would be all right with her, them being friends. "That would be fine," she replied. With one quick, effortless motion, Endralin pulled her light blue robe up over her head, revealing her elfin nakedness. The princess then summoned a bit of wind to carry her robe over to a hanger beside her bed. "I still do not understand how elves are able to do that?"

"Do what?" Endralin asked, getting under the covers of her bed.

"How you are able to control the elements like that."

"That is the way it has been for thousands of generations. You humans use technology, which, as far as I know, is equally matched with elfin magic. In the battle of Fendir five years ago, the elves almost lost to the human army because of a new weapon that the humans created called the Hell's Breath."

"Now that I think about it," Siyenna said, taking off her robe as well, "I don't really think that I want to be human."

"What do you mean by that?"

Siyenna hung her robe up on the hanger next to Endralin's. "What I mean is that the elves never did anything to the humans." Siyenna got under the covers. "If what you, Eledrel, and Ristell have told me are true, the humans are power-hungry and greedy. All of the wars that have occurred between the humans and elves were caused by the humans invading elfin territory, trying to take it for themselves. I do not want to be a human because I do not feel that people should kill for land that is not rightfully theirs. I would much rather be an elf so that I could use my magical powers to help you."

"There is only one person that I know that is as enthusiastic as you."

"Who is that?"

"The Siyenna that I used to know."

"Oh," said the brunette, her face suddenly becoming serious. "Your friend that was killed at the battle of Fendir. I wish that these wars had never occurred."

"You remind me so much of her. The face, the hair, the personality." Endralin looked deep into her friend's eyes.

Siyenna looked back into Endralin's eyes and noticed something about the way the blonde looked at her. "What is it?" asked the human.

"Siyenna, there is something that you should know about me."

"What is that?"

"Fifty years ago, when my Siyenna was still alive, we were more than just friends. We convinced everyone that that was all that we were, but we were much more."

"You were lovers, weren't you?"

Siyenna's intuition surprised Endralin. "Yes. We were. We became friends quickly, just like I did with you. By the end of the week, we had become lovers. And now, the same thing is happening again."

"You're attracted to me?"

"Extremely." The two friends could smell the sweet aroma of elfin arousal start to fill the room. Endralin's nipples had become erect thinking about mating with the beautiful brunette in bed beside her.

Siyenna continued looking into Endralin's blue eyes. She inched closer to her on the bed until their bodies touched. Endralin felt Siyenna's breasts press up against hers, feeling the hardness of her nipples as well. They saw the lust in each other's eyes, and knew what the other wanted. Simultaneously, they wrapped their arms around each other and kissed deeply on the lips. They both opened their mouths, and their tongues met.

Siyenna broke the kiss and moved her head down to Endralin's chest. She found Endralin's left nipple and sucked it into her mouth. Endralin let out a soft moan as her new lover sucked on her perfect elfin breasts. Endralin took a handful of Siyenna's left breast with her right hand and started squeezing it. It was almost as large as hers and just as firm. The brunette let out a moan of her own.

Siyenna then started moving her right hand down Endralin's body. However, right before she got to the elf's vagina, Endralin stopped her. "What's wrong?" Siyenna asked.

"I'm sorry," said Endralin. "I want this just as much as you do, but we can't do it here. My father has very good hearing, and I don't want to wake him up. I have no idea how he would react if he found out that I had mated with a human."

"How did he react when he found out that you mated with your childhood friend?"

"He never found out."

"Exactly." Siyenna kissed the elf maiden on the lips again, and then pulled Endralin out of bed. "Is there a place that we can go where nobody will hear us?"

Endralin and Siyenna smiled at each other. Endralin took a hold of the brunette's wrist and brought her out of her room. The two of them tip-toed through the main hall and out the front door, out into the night. As soon as they were out of the palace, they started running. Endralin took Siyenna to the stable where the brunette threw herself down on the hay. Endralin got on top of Siyenna and kissed her deeply on the lips. The two lovers wrapped their arms around each other, frantically exploring all over each other's bodies with their hands.

Endralin kissed her way down Siyenna's neck, down to her breasts. She sucked on Siyenna's left nipple, making her lover moan with delight. She then moved to the other hard nipple, making it even harder than it already was. Endralin continued moving down Siyenna's young body until she got to her now wet vagina. The scent was heavenly. Without a moment's hesitation, Endralin brought her face down to Siyenna's mound and started licking and sucking at it.

The human gave out a long moan as the elfin girl stimulated her most sensitive region with her mouth. "Oh, Endralin," she moaned. "I can't believe how good this feels. Oh, I've never felt anything like this."

"You haven't?" Endralin asked, momentarily stopping.

"Well, maybe I have, but I remember nothing of it."

"Well, if you have, let me refresh your memory." With that, Endralin buried her face back into Siyenna's soft vagina and continued pleasuring her lover. Siyenna moaned and archer her back. She grabbed her breasts, squeezing and fondling them, amplifying her pleasure.

Endralin was surprised at how sweet Siyenna's juices were. The elf maiden had heard that human vaginal fluid was more musky that sweet, but Siyenna's fluids were strawberry sweet like her own. 'Siyenna certainly is a very unique human,' Endralin thought.

Siyenna was still receiving pleasure from her lover, causing her body to start squirming on the hay. Her breathing was becoming labored and her moans were getting louder. She felt something great start building inside of her. She did not remember ever having an orgasm, but was sure that was what was about to happen to her. She felt her muscles tense up as she reached her plateau. "Endralin!" she cried out. "I'm gonna come!" Again, Siyenna surprised Endralin. As Siyenna's orgasm hit, juices exploded from her vagina all over Endralin's face. It was rare for human females to ejaculate. And the juices came out in a stream instead of several squirts. Endralin lapped up all of the honey that came out as Siyenna continued screaming in bliss.

When Siyenna's orgasm ended, she simply collapsed on the hay, breathing heavily. Endralin got on top of her lover and kissed her deeply. Even in her semi-conscious state, the dark-haired girl could clearly taste her own sweet juices. "You taste really good," Endralin said, licking her lips. "You taste like an elf. I've never tried it, but I've heard rumors that humans give off a taste that is more musky than sweet."

"I wouldn't know," Siyenna panted. "I'll bet you taste even better than I do."

"There's only one way to find out." Endralin went up the brunette's body until her vagina was positioned over Siyenna's face. She lowered her hips down and Siyenna started licking. Endralin moaned in pleasure as the human girl expertly sucked at her dripping vagina. "Oh, Lord," Endralin moaned. "Siyenna, this feels so good. How can you be so good at this?"

"I don't know," Siyenna said through Endralin's soft skin. "Am I doing well?"

"Extremely!" said Endralin. "It's hard to believe you don't know or remember how to pleasure a female."

"Maybe it's a skill I retained," the brunette replied.

Endralin tweaked her rock-hard nipples, sending electricity through her body. She started grinding her vagina against Siyenna's face, and her lover grabbed her hips to keep her in place. She pushed the elfin girls hips even farther down, burying her face deeper into Endralin's honey pot, causing Endralin to cry out in pleasure.

Endralin felt her orgasm approaching as her lover continued expertly licking her clitoris. The blonde grabbed a tuft of hay, trying to hold back for as long as possible. She was on the verge, and Siyenna knew it. "Siyenna!" Endralin cried out. "I'm coming!" Siyenna wrapped her lips tightly around Endralin's erect clitoris, pushing the elf over the edge. She cried out in ecstasy as her orgasm washed over her body. Vaginal fluids ejaculated all over Siyenna's face, filling her mouth with sweet elf-juice. Siyenna savored the intoxicating taste as Endralin's orgasm continued to surge through her.

Finally, Endralin came down from her orgasm and collapsed, face-first in the hay, panting heavily. Siyenna licked up all of Endralin's sticky ejaculate as she could before moving beside her lover and embracing her. "Endralin?" the brunette asked. "Are you all right?"

"Yes," was all that the elfin princess could say. Even her single word was barely audible.

"I was right," Siyenna said. "You do taste better than I do."

Endralin managed to turn toward Siyenna and kiss her. She tasted her sweet honey on the girl's lips. She moaned at the sweetness of her own vaginal fluids.

After a moment of embracing and making out, Siyenna asked, "Can you move?"

"I don't know," Endralin said. "I can try." Endralin tried to stand up, but faltered, landing on her back. "I guess not," the elfin girl said.

"I'll help you." Siyenna picked up Endralin in her arms and started carrying her back to the palace.

"Siyenna!" Endralin cried. "You never cease to impress me. How are you so strong?"

"I've been working out for five years."

"You remember working out?"

Siyenna was surprised at her own words. "Yes," she said. "I'm starting to remember my past!"

"What do you remember?"

"I don't know. A good night's rest will help me remember." After Siyenna had carried Endralin back to her room, she set the elf down on the bed and lay down beside her. The dark-haired girl pulled the covers over them both and the two lovers embraced. They fell into a deep and restful sleep.
