CHAPTER 29

BETHESDA, MARYLAND

JONATHAN'S PERSPECTIVE:

Wes and I left campus for his home just a little after two that Friday afternoon right after our last classes.  Traffic was heavy at first because so many students were leaving town for spring break, but it cleared once we got on the interstate.  We took my car so Wes sat in the passenger's seat with his arm draped over the back of my seat.  His fingers just touched the back of my neck.  Every time he moved his fingers, goose bumps went up and down my spine. It was intensely intimate, and I had a raging hard on for the first hour or so.

We switched drivers at the halfway point. I did the same thing to him with my fingers at the back of his neck.  Where I'd "suffered" in silence, Wes was more vocal in telling me how good my fingers felt and arching his neck backward to increase the contact. I couldn't tell what if anything was happening in his pants, but my dick was hard as a rock again. There was something slightly troubling about being sexually aroused by touching my brother.  I felt like I shouldn't be doing it.  At the same time touching him was incredibly stimulating.  I'd never felt anything like it before.

His parents were waiting up for us when we arrived around 10:00 p.m.   Maureen insisted that we have what she called "a little snack after the long trip." The little snack turned out to be two slices each of freshly baked apple pie. I was stuffed when we finally hauled our gear out of the car and down to Wes's room.

After unpacking we played paper-rock-scissors to see who used the shower first.  Wes won. He almost always did. I made a mental note to ask him how he managed to win so many times as he shucked off his clothes, grabbed a robe, and headed across the hall to the bathroom. I stripped down to my underwear and sat on the bed to wait for him to get out of the shower. Suddenly it occurred to me that neither Arthur nor Maureen had mentioned anything about me sleeping in the guest bedroom. It had just been assumed that Wes and I would share his room.

Wes was under the covers waiting for me when I returned from my shower.  He pulled the covers back for me to get in.  Even in the dim light I could see he was naked.  I slid my boxers off and climbed into the bed. I was nervous. We'd slept in the same room almost every night since the start of the semester, but except for the few nights at his house over the Martin Luther King weekend we'd always been in separate beds. I'd been so aroused by the touch of his hand on the back of my neck while driving that I wasn't sure I could handle being naked in the same bed with him. I might do something that would upset him.

I started to face away from him in the bed, but he put his hand on my shoulder and rolled me over on my back.

He moved his fingertips across my collarbones, down over part of my upper arm, and across my chest brushing my nipples. My nipples and dick went hard instantly.

"Jonathan, you may think this is kind of weird, but I've really wanted to kiss you."

I didn't say anything. I'd wanted the same thing!  I'd been afraid he would think I was some kind of pervert. I nodded my head.

Wes leaned in and brushed his lips across mine. He pulled back and looked at me. I could see the question in his eyes. I put my hand behind his head and pulled him in for another kiss.  This one was a real kiss. I opened my mouth. His tongue moved inside. Then my tongue was in his mouth. His body was pressed into mine. Our erections pushed against each other. I pushed my hips against him to increase the contact. He groaned.  We rolled over so I was on top of him.  We continued to kiss. It sounded like there was a small animal making whimpering noises in the room with us.  I don't know which one of us was making the sounds.  Maybe it was both. Still we kept up the kiss.  We started grinding our dicks together; our precum lubricated the humping. He was on top.  Tears of happiness and passion begin to escape from my closed eyes. I felt Wes's own tears against my cheek. We came at the same moment. Our bodies grew rigid as the mutual orgasm overtook us.

He rolled off me and lovingly scooped up some of our commingled semen from my stomach using his index finger and placed it in my mouth. I accepted his offering with my tongue. He scooped up more of the fluid covering our stomachs and placed it in his own mouth before leaning back down and kissing me again.

He reached down beside the bed and pulled a towel up from underneath the bed.  He carefully wiped both of us clean, tossed the towel back onto the floor, and snuggled up against me.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, it was wonderful."

"I love you."

"I love you, too."

I knew we'd have to do some serious talking later, but right then I just wanted to go to sleep cradled in the arms of my brother/lover.

CARTERVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA

TJ'S PERSPECTIVE:

I got home for spring break in the late afternoon. Trey and Josh had followed me from Adams to Carterville in Trey's old Volvo wagon.  When I turned to go out to the house they headed into town to look at a used car that Donnie thought Josh might want to buy.

I made the dinner that evening. It had actually been Coach's turn to cook, but since I was home I decided to go ahead and make something that would take a little more time. The guys, especially Coach, were duly appreciative.

It seemed like every time Donnie and I made love it just got better and better.  That night was amazing.  Donnie had this fantastic ability to control his orgasms.  He moved his dick inside me with a slow gentle pace that drove me absolutely insane.  He brought me to orgasm twice, and I almost came a third time before I felt his dick swell and pulse releasing his load deep within me.  God, that was hot!

I guess I'd been a little more vocal than normal during our love making because Trey said something at breakfast after our morning group jog about the moans coming from our room during the night. I felt my face flush. Donnie just grinned.

After breakfast Donnie headed off to work, and the rest of us went out to the barn and started getting the lawn equipment ready for the coming season.  Coach went into town to run some errands.

About lunch time the phone rang. Trey snagged the call on the extension we'd run out to the barn the previous fall.  We didn't pay much attention to the conversation on the phone because Micah had chosen that exact moment to tip a can of oil...all over himself. We got very busy cleaning up the oil on the floor and on Micah's pants.

Trey's voice broke through the confusion, "Guys, that was the Sheriff.  Parker's been in an accident..."

**********

PARKER'S PERSPECTIVE:

I knew I was alive.  My head hurt too much for me to be dead.

I gradually became aware of the sounds and figures moving around me.

"Mr. Arnold, can you hear me?"

I tried to move my head to the side, but it wouldn't budge. The figure moved into my field of view.

"Mr. Arnold, I'm Dr. Kennedy. Do you know where you are?"

I recognized her as the same doctor who`d been on duty when Isaac was brought into the emergency room after his father had almost beaten him to death.

"H...H...hospital."  It hurt like hell to open my mouth.

"Good.  You were in an accident, and you've been unconscious for a while. We put your neck in a brace as a precaution so that's why you can't move your head."

"How bad?"

"You've got some cracked ribs, a couple of broken teeth, and lots of little cuts from all the glass. All in all, I'd say you were lucky. The EMT's who brought you in said it was a bad crash. Do you remember anything about it?"

"I had the green light. Then this truck came through from the other street and hit me. The air bags came out. Then something else hit me."

"Okay, it's good that you can remember. That means there's no memory loss. I'm going to admit you to the hospital for tonight. You've got a concussion, and we'll want to monitor you overnight just to make certain there's no bleeding into your skull. Is that okay?"

"Yes.  Can I call home? My guys must be wondering where I am."

She smiled.  "Oh, I think the word traveled around pretty fast. You've got quite a crew out in the waiting room. As soon as we get you into a room, I'll approve letting them come in a couple at a time.  I'm also going to call in a dentist to take a look at those two broken teeth. There are some real jagged edges, and I'm afraid you might tear up the inside of your cheek."

By the time I got moved out of the emergency room and into a regular hospital room, I was a lot more alert, but I also still hurt like hell. I felt like someone had worked me over with a baseball bat.

My first visitors were Trey and TJ. They reported that the Cubs plus about half of the soccer team were down in the waiting area.  Reassured that I was going to be all right, they left after a few minutes and were replaced by Ryan and Nacio.  After them it was Josh and Isaac followed by Robert and Tyrone.

Then it was Joe May.  He delivered the news that my Explorer was totaled. Joe was also my insurance agent. He told me not to worry about anything since he'd already contacted the company office, and I should have a check in a couple of days. Guess it's a good thing to be good friends with your insurance agent.  The service was swift.

The next set of visitors was Red and Caleb Stuart. Red sat down in the chair by the bed and grasped my hand.

"You made a real mess out there."

"What happened?"

"Roland Finch, Isaac's uncle, ran the red light and slammed into you.  He was drunk as a darn skunk. I don't know how he even managed to get behind the wheel of his truck."

"Is he okay?"

"Oh yeah, he's fine.  He's passed out in a cell down at the jail right now. He wasn't hurt at all.  I don't think he even knew he'd hit you.  The impact spun your Explorer around, and you got hit again by Agnes Dalton."

"Is she okay?"

"Yup, you were the only one hurt. Finch was too drunk to get hurt, and Agnes's airbags kept her from getting hurt. Popped one of the lenses out of her glasses, but she's okay.  Your airbags came out too. You would have been okay if Agnes hadn't hit you. Problem with airbags is they inflate and then deflate rapidly. If there's a second impact like what you had, there's no protection.  Your vehicle's totaled. You're lucky you weren't totaled along with it."

"I remember the bags coming out then getting hit again."

"Yup.  Agnes's big old Buick caught you just behind the driver's seat. If she'd been a little more forward, you might not be here."

"What's going to happen to Finch?"

"He's going to be a guest in my jail for the rest of the weekend.  We've got him for drunk driving and driving with a revoked license `cause this wasn't his first time."

He patted my hand.  "You look a little tired there.  Caleb, go tell the soccer team that Coach is going to be okay."

Caleb nodded his head and left.  Red turned back to me, "Your face my not be too pretty for a few days, and I think Joe May's going to have to work with the team for the next couple of days before you'll feel like puttin' up with them."

He gave my hand a squeeze. "I'm glad you're going to be all right, Parker. You're too important to too many young men in this town to have any thing happen to you."

Robert came back into the room and announced with a smile that he was the designated "baby sitter" until after dinner.

The three of us chatted for a few minutes. Then the door opened again. Even in my mental state, which was still slightly dazed from the accident, I realized that the guy who had just walked in was extremely handsome.  He was tall...maybe six foot three inches...with curly, copper colored hair and ice blue eyes.

He came over to my bed and smiled as he extended his hand. His teeth were straight and movie star white.  "Mr. Arnold, I'm Sean O'Connor.  I'm a dentist. Dr. Kennedy here in the Emergency Room wanted me to take a look at some teeth that got cracked in your accident."

He turned to Red Stuart and offered his hand. "Sheriff, I'm relatively new in the county, but I've heard your name several times.  I'm pleased to meet you in person."

Then he turned to Robert who was openly staring at the good-looking dentist. "I'm Sean O'Connor."

I started to laugh but stopped because it made my head hurt.  Robert looked like the proverbial deer in the headlights.  With some effort he finally found his voice and extended his hand to Sean. "I...I'm Roberto...uh I mean Robert Marquez."

"It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Marquez. You were one of my favorite players in the NBA. I'm glad you're getting back into sports. I've heard a couple of the games you announced this year.  I like your style."

"Uh, thank you.  I'm only doing the color commentary."

"And you're doing a great job."

"Thank you again."

Dr. O'Connor turned back to me. "Now, Mr. Arnold, let's have a look in your mouth. Ah, yes.  You really took a hard knock. It looks like there's one premolar that will need a crown. You took a chip out of the molar behind it as well, but I think a good dentist could fix it without resorting to a full crown. You should call a dentist as soon as you can. Most dentists will take a couple of months at least to work you into their schedule. If you have a regular dentist, that's fine." He flashed another white-toothed smile at me.  "However, since I'm just getting my practice started here, I could get you in early next week. What do you say?"

"I think that would be good. I'd rather get this taken care of quickly."

"Good.  Call my office first thing Monday morning. I'll try to get you in on Tuesday or Wednesday. In the meantime, here's some wax you can use to cover the sharp edges of those teeth so you don't rip up the inside of your mouth any more than it already is."

He pushed the dental wax up into my mouth. The wax felt strange against my cheek, but it was a lot better than feeling the jagged edge of my tooth.

"There you go.  Call me on Monday. I hope they spring you out of this mad house soon."

"Thanks.  I'm hoping to get out sometime tomorrow."

"Ah, this is the old `let's keep him in overnight for observation' routine, right?"

"Right."

"Then I'll be on my way so I don't get in the way of any observations.  Besides, you look like you're about ready to go to sleep."

"Yeah, I think I might try a little nap."

O'Connor shook my hand again and then turned to shake Robert's. I thought the shake lasted just a little longer than normal.  As if neither one wanted to be the first to let go.

When both Sean O'Connor and Red Stuart were gone, I accused Robert of having designs on my new dentist.  He denied it, but he blushed at the same time.  Robert was definitely interested.

We sat in the room, talking occasionally. Eventually my eyes grew heavy, and I surrendered to sleep.

I don't know how long I was asleep. It was dark outside the window when I woke up, and the lights in the room were dimmed.  I saw a figure sitting in a chair over by the corner. He saw me move.

"Parker, are you awake?"

It was Karl Henson!

"What are you doing here?"

"I asked Trey and TJ to let me stay with you for a little while.  I'd like a chance to talk with you, if you feel up to it.  This might be my only chance.  You said you'd call so we could talk, but I wasn't sure you would really do it."

"I probably wouldn't have."

He smiled a little.  "I thought so. Well, then this is my best shot. I know you're sore from the accident, and this may not be the best time, but I've been wanting to do this for quite a while now.  I've finally worked up my courage so I need to do it and get it off my chest. I know I hurt you, and I'm sorry. I know I can never atone for that hurt, but I need to tell you what happened up at West Point..."
