Love on Iradnia

Chapter 2

A beam of sunlight fell across Jaden's eyes. His face scrunched up into a scowl and his eyes flickered open. He sat up slowly, waiting for his vision to clear. He was groggy and confused and slightly cold. Once his vision cleared he surveyed his surroundings. He took in the thick forest he was in all his memories of yesterday flashed before his eyes. He cried out in agony, remembering his father's blood curdling scream.

"No!" he sobbed.

His father couldn't be gone. He couldn't be dead! Jaden shifted up against a nearby tree and brought his knees up to his chest and cried fitfully into his arms, the sobs making him shake. What was he going to do now? He was all alone in the world. This thought really saddened him.

'Wait!' he thought. He needed to go look for help. He needed to get to the main centre.

With his new mission fixed firmly into his mind, Jaden stood up and rushed through the forest. A few minutes later and he was completely lost. None of his surroundings looked familiar. The trees all looked different and when did Weeping Willows start growing in Cleveland National Forest? Something really strange was going on. He heard something crack behind him and he ran forward, thinking it was the monster from the previous night. He ran on and on and was getting exhausted. He was once again sobbing and breathing with difficulty. When was he going to get to the damn main centre!

The world turned upside down when he was suddenly shoved from behind.

'Oh god, I'm going to die!' Jaden thought.

He screamed as he fell onto his back and shut his eyes tight with his arms covering his face. He didn't want to see what was going to kill him.

He waited for the death blow, but it didn't arrive. Why wasn't he dead yet?

"Weho era yuro?"

Jaden opened his eyes to see who had spoken that strange language. When he found the person, his eyes feasted on the beautiful, magical and enchanting sight he had ever seen.

"Weho era yuro!" the person sort of sang angrily.

It looked like a girl.

"I'm sorry miss, I don't understand you." Jaden replied hesitantly.

"I asked who you were, and what do you mean miss!" the person exclaimed. "I am Leandas."

Jaden was shocked to discover that it was indeed a boy, not a girl, and he felt vaguely disgusted by the fact that that he felt attracted to the boy at first. When he looked back at the boy, Leandas he had said his name was, Jaden saw that he was pointing a sword at him.

'A sword?' Jaden thought.

He looked more closely at Leandas. He had long, gloriously black hair that reached his waist in a straight flow and fell around the side of his angular face. Leandas' eyes where pools of silver that glinted in the morning light. His cheekbones were high. His mouth was curved slightly upwards and his lips were just shy of being full. Leandas' chin was pointed and his skin was a smooth light caramel colour, free of any blemishes. Jaden's gaze moved downward and saw the clothes that Leandas wore. It looked like some type of sleeveless tunic that hung till just above the knees and was tied at the waist with a brown leather strap. The tunic was green. On his lower body, he wore brown leggings that very snugly around his trim and slender figure and was tucked into brown knee length boots that were just as slim and snug.

'Beautiful' was the word that flashed into Jaden's mind, but he crushed it just as quickly. His face was flushed with embarrassment and heat was pooling at his groin. He thought of last night's horrors to help him cool down, which happened almost immediately and another sob escaped.

"You have not answered my question." Leandas urged, stepping forward, the sword rising to point at Jaden's head.

Jaden flinched, acutely aware of the swords proximity to his head.

"Jaden- my name is Jaden," he said quickly. "I'm lost."

"I can clearly see that. What are you doing in this forest?" Leandas inquired.

"My dad and I were camping. We were awoken by something and it chased us through the forest. We split up; my dad said he would lead it away. I heard him scream..." Jaden gasped at the memory. "It terrified me... He's... gone..." Jaden cried.

Leandas lowered his sword, but not by much.

Jaden continued, "After that I tripped and must have hit my head and blacked out, and then up, and I guess it must have been you who was chasing me."

"I am sorry for your loss." Jaden lowered his sword completely. He looked at the Jaden boy lying on the grass. Jaden's curls wiggled and glowed in the light. Leandas saw Jaden's eyes flash from dark to light green instantaneously, an act that made Leandas shudder. He was deathly attracted in that instant, although consciously he didn't know it, he just felt a tug on his heart. He looked at the boy's clothing. Leandas didn't know what it was or what type of material it was made of. Jaden was in fact wearing his boxers and a plain white t-shirt that were both soiled with dirt, clothes that were completely foreign to Leandas.

The amount of pale skin visible made Leandas feel vaguely hot, but he was mainly concerned with what to with the boy.

"I am all alone now," Jaden whispered.

That sentence seemed to make Leandas' mind up. He sheathed his sword and extended his hand toward Jaden. When Leandas moved, Jaden started, his eyes widening, flashing once again. That flash increased Leandas' sexual awareness of Jaden. Jaden soon relaxed when Leandas extended his hand in a gesture of help. Jaden took in hesitantly and was surprised when Leandas pulled him to his bare feet with absolute ease.

"I shall take you to my mother, she will know what to do," Leandas said as he led Jaden back into the forest all the while still holding his hand.

Meanwhile Dalen was startled awake by someone who was shouting down at him. He opened his eyes groggily and looked around. He seemed to be in some type of crevice.

"Leliho heter!" Hello there.

Dalen looked up to see someone waving at him. He got up shakily and waved back.

"Hello, could you help me out?" He shouted back up.

The person on top reverted to English, "I shall send the rope down and pull you up."

"Thank you!"

The person's voice sounded like a man's and Dalen was relieved that the man had found him. Jaden must have gotten to the main centre, but what language was the man speaking? It didn't sound like any he had ever heard.

The rope came down and Dalen grabbed hold, tying it around his waist and holding on.

"Ready!" he shouted.

The man began to pull Dalen upward. When he reached the top, Dalen was shocked to discover that nothing about the forest he was in looked the same as the one back in Cleveland. He turned to the man who had helped him. The man was hooded and cloaked in dark material that hung to the ground.

"Thank you," he said somewhat anxiously. "Where am I?"

"Not at home is all I can tell you. You are not from around here. Come with me."

The man said it so gently; that all Dalen could do was nod and follow him into the forest. Hopefully this man had some answers.Author's note:
