Michael's Story (part 9)

Cheryl Marie was a lovely girl I met in Cincinnati a number of years ago. Sadly, her life was cut short when she was hospitalized and died from pneumonia acquired there. Parts 1-7 of this story are exactly as she wrote it, except for a few spelling and grammatical corrections. This and subsequent parts I write in honor of Cheryl Marie – I only wish she could have written it and seen if published.

We drove to the club where Rory would be performing. Along the way I took the initiative and took hold of Michael's hand, which really pleased him.

We were shown to our table and I ordered a glass of wine, while Michael ordered his traditional bottled water. We talked about the upcoming show and shared experiences with Rory's music.

Rory was short for Aurora, which I actually liked better than Rory, which didn't sound as feminine. She had been performing for around 40 years, with a dozen albums produced. Over her career, Rory had been honored with almost a dozen music awards. I had never been to one of her liver performances, and was truly grateful to Michael for taking me. What a wonderful bonus that Michael was the man taking me.

My mind was racing to take in all that was happening – after years of being a girl in private, it felt like I was not simply taking another step, but a giant leap – I hoped it wasn't off the top of a building.

Michael took my hand while we enjoyed Rory's performance. This time it had a wonderful calming effect. I hoped that I was settling into my role. Was it a "role" or the "real me"? I wasn't sure, but I thought I might just find out tonight.

I had several more glasses of wine throughout the performance, while Michael continued with only water. I nursed the last one so I could avoid getting drunk. Already I was sure that any inhibitions I had were nearly gone.

The performance was magnificent, exceeding both of our expectations. Afterward we walked out to the car hand-in-hand. Michael opened my door for me, but instead of getting in I turned to him and put my arms around his neck and pulled close to him. I hugged him and said, "thank you Michael, for this wonderful evening!"

I pulled back just a bit and looked up into Michael's eyes. He brought his lips to mine and I instinctively opened my mouth and our tongues met. I pulled close to him and we shared a wonderfully passionate kiss. As we kissed I felt his erection pressing against my leg.

I wasn't absolutely sure where this would all lead – I wasn't sure I was ready to move a lot further, but it certainly seemed that Michael was!

I got into the car and we drove back to my place. We were strangely silent during the drive – I think we were both processing that kiss and wondering if we had crossed a forbidden line. Hell, what was I thinking? Everything about this night was about as "forbidden" as it gets!

I didn't want the night to end like this, so I reached over and took Michael's hand. He looked toward me and I smiled at him. "That was quite some kiss!" I said.

"In all my years," said Michael, "I don't think I have experienced a more passionate kiss than that. I was afraid you might be having some regrets."

"This is a really big deal to me, Michael," I confessed, "and I needed some time to process all that has happened, but I'm delighted with our date."

"That kiss can never be taken back," Michael said, "and I wouldn't want to, but I don't want it to ruin things at the office."

"All we can do is to try to remain professional," I replied, "and keep this for our private time – that is, if you want to continue."

We were stopped at a traffic light, and Michael leaned over to me for a brief kiss and said, "I really want to continue, but I'm struggling with my internal feelings."

"In what way?" I inquired.

"Cheryl dear, I am really attracted to you – really!" Michael explained, "but I know you are also Carl, and I'm trying to deal with that."

"So you are not sure if this is a straight or gay relationship?" I asked.

"That's sort of what I am struggling with," he returned, "you know I'm not at all homophobic – I just have always thought of myself as straight."

"Have we done anything at all that isn't straight?" I asked.

"Well, not so far, but I'm feeling very strong desire for you," Michael responded.

"I felt your `desire' pressing against me when we kissed," I confessed.

Michael flushed red with embarrassment, and did not respond.

"It's ok," I said, "you are a man and it is natural to respond to a woman as you have – I'm really flattered that you like me so much."

"It's more than that," Michael said.

"Oh?" I asked, "please tell me more."

"I can't," Michael said, "it's much too personal."

"Michael dear," I said, "we are getting very personal – is it something you think would offend me?"

"Not exactly," Michael replied, "it's something I'm not so proud of – maybe you can get it out of me after a few drinks."

"I see that I'm going to have to get you something stronger than water," I said, and we both laughed.

We arrived at my place and I just wasn't ready for our date to end, so I asked, "Would you like to come in?"

Michael agreed and soon we were inside. I slipped out of my heels – they were very sexy, but were tough to wear for hours at a time – I was glad to shed them.

I turned to Michael again and we had another breathtaking kiss! I really wanted him to be my man.

We sat on the couch and we continued to kiss. The wine had really made me feel mellow and I felt ready for whatever may happen.
