Pixie Dust - 8

Tanner loved the way Kyle was holding him close and tenderly kissing him. The lust of their first encounter had given way to a gentleness that Tanner liked even better. The only problem was that it was getting late.

"This is really nice," Tanner whispered softly. "But I'm gonna be in big trouble if I don't head home, and I have to make sure my `rents don't find out I got drunk."

"Wish you didn't have to go," Kyle said sadly.

"I know, but my mom still thinks I'm a baby." Tanner sighed, "She made Megan promise she'd pick me up and I'd be in bed by twelve."

"Your folks aren't home?"

"No, they went into the city for the weekend and left Megan in charge."

"Call her and tell her the party is so good that some people are staying over and you're invited."

"Megan would know that something's up, she'd ask a ton of questions until she finally figured it out and then I'd be busted. Besides that, she'd hold it over me forever. `Want me to tell mom and dad you got drunk at your very first party ever?' I'd be her slave for years."

Kyle rolled onto his back and stared at the ceiling. "There's got to be some way!"

Tanner reached for Kyle's hand and intertwined their fingers. It was obvious neither wanted this to end.

"But if we COULD get Megan to help it'd be totally worth it."

"You don't know my sister. She'd never help."

Both boys were quiet for a few minutes then Kyle rolled onto his side and looked at Tanner with a slight grin. "But, what if we could talk her into helping?"

Tanner gave Kyle a wary look. "What do you mean `talk her into it?' What have you got in mind?"

Kyle leaned closer and whispered in Tanner's ear.

"You're shitting me!" Tanner blurted out. "Do you think she did?"

"Swear to God!" Kyle giggled.

Tanner's smile grew until it was ear to ear. "Let's do it!"

"You little dweeb! You're not going to blackmail me!" Megan shouted into the phone. "I'm going to tell mom and dad you stayed out all night and you'll be in so much trouble you won't be allowed to go to another party all year."

Tanner and Kyle were holding the phone between them, listening to Tanner's sister throw one threat after another at her brother.

"Yeah, you COULD do that. But remember what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words," Tanner chuckled.

"How did you get it anyway?" Megan spat back. I only sent it to Jordan.

"He's a guy." Tanner laughed, "You send a nude selfie to a guy, he can't help himself, he's got to show it to all his friends. It's like a law or something." Both boys chuckled.

Kyle gave Tanner a playful smile. "Helps to have a couple of senior boys on our team, huh?" he whispered.

Megan sputtered and sounded like she was trying to make up her mind. "Okay, but this is a one time deal. You can stay at the party with your little freshman butt wipes, but if I ever hear that you said one word about this to anyone else your little sissy ass is mine."

Tanner and Kyle exchanged big smiles. "Okay, it's a deal. Pick me up at Riley's house at ten tomorrow morning."

There was one last disgusted sigh from Tanner's sister. "I better not see that picture around anyplace either!" She stormed, and then hung up.

"Did you really see a picture of my sister nude?" Tanner grinned.

"No. But I heard she and Jordan were really getting it on one night at Kevin's place and I figured she was just enough of a slut to do something like that. So I took a guess she might have sent him a selfie showing her boobs or something."

Both boys couldn't believe the bluff had actually worked.

"So, I guess we better ask Riley if it's all right to stay over, huh?" Tanner giggled.

"After what Dylan did to you I don't think he'll have a problem." Kyle nodded.

Tanner playfully rolled over on top of Kyle and gave him a deep kiss. "How about we ask him a little later?" he mumbled as he ground his crotch against the boy he was starting to think of as more than just a friend.

Kyle grinned and laughed.

The next morning was the awkward ride home when Megan picked him up. Neither wanted to talk about the bargain they'd reached so Tanner could spend the night at the party. Tanner didn't want questions that might lead to some slip and her finding out he'd been drinking. Megan on the other hand didn't want to hear anything more about the naked pictures of herself that were apparently out where lots of people could see them. It was like two sides in an evenly matched fight, nothing good would come of pushing the other too far. So silence was the best option.

It was two days later that the guilt set in. Tanner couldn't explain why he'd been avoiding Kyle's phone calls, but ever since the party he'd been embarrassed at the thought of talking with him. The uncomfortable feeling had grown until it turned into something else, guilt.

Tanner had crawled into bed a good bit earlier than usual in the hope of falling asleep and putting his growing worries aside. But, sleep hadn't come. He tossed and turned for more than an hour. He had a growing uneasiness that what he and Kyle had done the night of the party wasn't right. He was glad Kyle had helped him when he was sick, but then the touching, kissing, and the blowjobs, and finally sleeping together all night? Tanner was confused by the direction that things were moving. After another twenty minutes of no sleep, he finally crawled down from his bed, picked up his phone, called Kristen and crawled back up to his bunk.

"Hey," he whispered the moment Kristen picked up.

"I wondered when you were going to call," she said softly, apparently not surprised to get a call this late.

"You knew I'd call?"

"I heard about the party at Riley's. I also heard what Dylan did to you, getting you drunk and all. Are you okay?"

"Yeah," Tanner said softly as he rolled into a little ball and pulled the covers around himself.

It was quiet for a moment.

"I also heard something else," Kristen whispered.

"What?" Tanner felt a sudden queasiness in his stomach.

"About you and Kyle."

"Me and Kyle?" Tanner squeaked.

Kristen giggled softly. "Did you really spend the night with him?" There wasn't a hint of judgment or accusation. If anything, there was just concern.

Tanner didn't know if he could bring himself to answer her question even though they'd been best friends for as long as either could remember. "Kristen, I'm really confused," Tanner finally managed as tears rolled down his cheeks.

In a soft voice, she said, "Let me guess. You guys did some stuff, and it felt really good, but now you're not sure if you should have."

Tanner didn't know how Kristen always managed to figure things out so fast. "We didn't do anything really bad," Tanner said somewhat defensively. "But yeah, that's kind of what happened," his voice trailed off.

"Nothing really bad? So I guess that means I can stop worrying about you getting pregnant, huh?" she teased with a laugh.

Tanner couldn't hold back a giggle.

"So why are you feeling guilty?"

Tanner thought a moment and slowly tried to put his feelings into words. "My dad always wanted a boy that played sports and did all the things that boys do. But you know, I've always liked other kinds of things. Maybe Megan's right, I really am a sissy."

"And now that you met Kyle, you're even more worried about that, and confused, huh?" Kristen filled in the rest.

"Uh huh," Tanner whispered and crawled further under the covers.

"But, you really do like him, don't you?"

The tears started again. "Uh huh."

"It's okay, Tanner, you don't have to explain to your dad, or your mom, or that nasty little bitch of a sister of yours what you feel or why you like what you like. Just be yourself. You're perfect the way you are."

"Really?" Tanner sniffed.

"Really!" Kristen said firmly but tenderly.

"I'm so scared."

"I know," Kristen whispered, but there are lots of kids just like you.

Tanner let his best friend's words sink in, then he had another thought. "Does everybody at school know about me and Kyle?"

Kristen giggled, "No not everyone, just the freshman class!"

"Oh God," Tanner sighed.

"Oh, stop it. Unless you two are going to start carrying on like Dylan and Riley you don't have anything to worry about." Kristen laughed.

Tanner laughed. "Have I told you that Dylan isn't happy unless he gets Riley to give him at least three blowjobs a day?"

"Eeeewww," Kristen giggled.

It was quiet for a moment.

"Kristen?"

"Yeah,"

"Thanks for being my friend." Tanner started crying again.

"Get some sleep, you sound exhausted."

"See you tomorrow," Tanner said tenderly and clicked off his phone.

There was an awkward exchange in the hallway when Kyle stopped by Tanner's locker at the start of the day. The words were nice enough, but both boys seemed more uncertain and tentative than before the party. It was as if each of them had something on their minds.

Tanner made the rounds of his classes but couldn't concentrate. All he could think about was Kyle. By the time the lunch hour came around he was practically a wreck.

Sitting in his usual spot, Tanner opened his sack lunch and scanned the room. He knew Kyle would show up any minute. In fact it was a few minutes into lunch when Kyle came through the door.

"Oh, crap," Tanner whispered to himself as Kyle headed his way.

"Hi, Tanner," Kyle's voice was soft, questioning, almost as if he was testing the water.

"Hi"

"Do you mind if I sit down?"

Tanner shrugged, "Sure go ahead."

Kyle sat opposite Tanner and started to unpack his own lunch.

The two ate in silence for several long minutes.

"Okay. I can't take this," Kyle complained, "What the fuck's going on?"

Tanner shrunk back in his seat. He stared at Kyle and then just let it all spill out. "My dad thinks I'm supposed to be this all jock athlete kind of guy, my sister thinks I act like a girl and always calls me a sissy, and now the only one who seems to care enough about me to take care of me when I get in trouble is you."

"And the problem is?" Kyle teased gently.

"How should I know if I'm gay or not!" Tanner sobbed. He put his head down on the table, covered it with his arms, and cried.

Kyle quickly scooted around the end of the table and slid into the seat next to Tanner. He looked around and decided putting his arms around the boy wouldn't be such a good idea, right in the middle of school and all, but he did lean close.

"Nobody's asking you to figure that out right now." Kyle whispered and tried to reassure Tanner and calm him down. "Is this because you're sorry we did stuff at the party?"

Tanner shook his head "no" but didn't lift it from under his arms.

"So what's the problem?"

Tanner's sobs slowed. He finally lifted his head and wiped his eyes. "I don't want to let down my dad, or my mom, and I don't want Megan to say `see, I told you so,' but most of all, I don't want to do anything to lose you."

"You won't lose me, no matter what!" Kyle said firmly. He paused a moment, leaned still closer and ever so softly whispered, "but if you want, when you're ready, we can do whatever you want to do...even if it's like boyfriends I mean. But only if you want."

Tanner turned his head and the boys stared into one another's eyes. "Do you mean that?"

"Of course I mean it," Kyle gave Tanner a tender smile.

Tanner wiped the last of the tears from his eyes. He looked around the room. "Well, what I want is for you to kiss me."

"What? Here? Now?" Kyle squeaked.

Tanner giggled and nodded "yes" but then quickly added, "I guess we shouldn't."

"There's that corner in the freshman locker room." Kyle bet his eyes were twinkling with mischief.

"We'd only have twenty minutes."

"Plenty of time!" Kyle laughed.

Seconds later the boys were hurrying through the halls.

Two months had gone by since Tanner's melt down about the feelings he was having for Kyle. As each day passed, he grew more confident that being with Kyle felt not only right, but was meant to be. He became more relaxed and more open.

There was some teasing at school for a while, but the gymnastics club guys helped with that and soon it wasn't much of an issue. That is, until Tanner made it huge by making an announcement to Kristen within the hearing of a few of her girlfriends.

"Who's going to the Fall Festival dance?" One of the girls asked to no one in particular. There were a few yes, no, and a few shrugs of the head.

Kristen turned to Tanner. "How about you?"

Tanner looked around the table, swallowed the bite of cookie in his mouth and said, "Yeah, I've got someone in mind."

The girls all laughed and made comments, though it was obvious none of them was sure who Tanner might be thinking about. Kristen turned and gave her best friend a concerned look.

Tanner winked and immediately saw that Kristen had figured it out.

"Oh my God!" Kristen shrieked with happiness. "That's so cool!"

Tanner put a finger to his lips. "Shhhh." He winked again.

Tanner reached for his juice and tried to let his stomach settle. He couldn't believe what he'd just done. Now all he had to do was convince Kyle to be his date.
