SAM CALDWELL'S FURTHER ADVENTURES

by Macout Mann

Chapter 13

Sam and Ron

Sam returns to Atlanta immediately after Thanksgiving and gets to work on the illustrations for "Skeleton of Steel." It's amazing how much he accomplishes during the rest of the long weekend.

Come Monday, though, he gets a call from Win. He wants to talk. Says he'll catch MARTA to Buckhead after his last class, if Sam will be home. Sam says "no," he'll pick Win up at his dorm. Win suggests an alternate spot.

When they meet, Win suggests they go to a nearby coffee shop. There he tells Sam all about his conversation with Ron and that Ron had agreed to talk to Sam about his hangup.

"I don't know if he'll go through with it or not," Win says, "but I wanted you to be aware of what's going on."

"Well, it's like I told you. A lot of the biggest gay bashers are fighting gay tendencies themselves.

"He turn you on at all?"

"Shit no. I didn't even get hard when I was ramming my dick against his ass cheeks."

"Well," Sam grinned, "when you did that, you may have waked up the tiger."

Actually, Ron didn't mention Sam or his strange feelings again for a week. The feelings didn't go away, however. He found himself checking out every hot-looking guy he saw around campus. He had to fight getting a hard-on in the locker room after gym class. Since the start of school, he'd seen Win naked almost every day, yet he couldn't keep his eyes off his joint. Finally he got the courage to broach the subject to Win again.

"You know what we talked about down at your folk's place," he began. "If I did talk to Sam Caldwell about it, he wouldn't make fun of me, would he?"

"Look, Ron, I've known Sam all my life. There's nothing I wouldn't feel safe talking to him about. He's a very wise man. He's not going to make fun of you. You've got issues, and I know that he can help you work through them." Win gives Ron Sam's phone numbers.

Still another week goes by before Ron calls Sam up. Sam says he'd be glad to talk to Ron. They make an appointment for Thursday at five-o'clock. "You know how to get here," Sam says.

Sam isn't really pissed that Win got him into this, but he's not looking forward to it. It could really fuck up the relationship between Win and Ron. But he figures it couldn't get any worse than it was at the beginning. He just wishes he knew more about Ron and his family. That's where he decides to begin.

Ron finds Sam dressed in a sleeveless t shirt and provocatively trimmed jeans, and Sam notices him surreptitiously checking out his package. He offers his guest a drink, and Ron accepts. Then Ron uncomfortably begins the conversation.

"I guess Win told you what I wanted to talk to you about."

"Not in any detail," Sam lies. "He said something happened over the Thanksgiving break that distressed you."

"Yeah, I..."

"You know, Ron," Sam interrupts. "I don't really know anything about you. Why don't we start from there. Tell me about your family."

"Well," Ron responds, "I'm an only child. My dad owns a construction business. He usually employs about a hundred workers. Built the business from scratch. He's very proud of it and spends almost all of his time running it. Never had a lot of time for me. Not like Mr. Hart and his family.

"My mom spends most of her time doing charitable things or playing bridge at the country club. I was always really closer to my dad than her."

"Nobody ever had the `birds and bees' talk with me. I didn't pay a lot of attention to the sex ed classes in school. Just a lot of clinical shit.

"Dad hates queers. I've always hated 'em too. Always gave fairy boys a real hard time. But goddamit, Mr. Caldwell, I think I may be one!"

Sam responds very calmly. "Why do you think so?" he asks.

"Well...." Ron then details everything that happened while he was at Sparta. He admits he can't help but check out every guy he sees. He even gets these unexpected hards-on.

"Mr. Caldwell, I just don't know what to think. Frankly I'm scared," he concludes.

"Please call me `Sam,'" Sam says. Then he adds, "Have you ever had any sexual experience of any kind?"

"N-no. I've dated, but now I'm beginning to think that was just to keep my father off my ass. I've never tried to make out or anything."

"Have you ever wanted to?"

"N-no. I've sometimes thought I oughta try something, just because of all the locker room talk I've listened to. But I never really had the urge to."

"Have you ever thought about doing something with another guy? Maybe jacking off together."

"Oh god no! That is, not until lately....But I gotta admit. I keep thinking....I've even thought about touching Win!" Ron is becoming more and more upset, as he responds to Sam's questions.

Sam has been sitting in a wing chair in his living room, while Ron has been on the sofa. Sam senses that the time has come to take a more active role. He sits beside Ron and takes a hand in both of his.

"I know it's tough to think about these things for the first time," Sam says, "but let's do consider them together.

"Up until you started having these feelings, when you were `hating queers,' how did you think about them? What did you think they were like?"

"Oh, girly boys, I guess....weak-kneed fellas that couldn't defend themselves....perverts trying to get into everybody's pants....I dunno."

"And you figure that if you are gay, that that's what you'd turn out to be like?"

"I guess."

Sam already is aware that Ron knows Christian and Vernon are gay, but he pretends otherwise.

"Did you meet Christian Ballard and Vernon Ramsay over Thanksgiving?" he asks.

"Yeah...."

"They're both gay," Sam says.

"....I know. Win told me."

"And you think they're weak-kneed girly boys trying to get into your pants?"

"Nah. They're o. k. guys."

"And you know, Ron, most gays are like them. Not limp-wristed faggots that try to be like women. And sure as hell not people that want to take advantage of guys that aren't interested in other men.

"The only difference between most gays and straights is that gays do like to have sex with other guys. And that's nothing to be ashamed of, if that's the way god made you."

"So how the hell do you know so much about it?" Ron asks. He's still unable to accept what he's being told.

"Well, I'll tell you," Sam answers. "But first, let me ask you. When I first met you, you said that being an artist was gay. Do you still think so?"

"Well....no."

"Do you think I'm gay?

"God, no. You're a real all-right joe."

"Well, Ron, the reason that I know so much about `it,' as you put it, is that I am gay."

"You're shittin' me!"

"No, I'm gay all right. Have known it since I was about 13."

"And Win knows you are gay? That's why he wanted me to talk to you?" Ron is experiencing a bunch of contradictory feelings. "Fuck! Is everybody the Hart family knows queer?"

"No, but the Harts are very liberal and understanding people. And Jim Hart, although he's not all that much older than I am, is like a father to me. My father basically dismissed me from his life, when I came out. Jim helped me overcome a lot of problems I had when I was your age.

"And I think that's the real reason Win wanted you to get with me. I could understand some of the problems you're having."

"So," Ron finally asks `the question,' "Am I gay?"

"I dunno, Ron. That's for you to decide.

"If I had to guess, I'd say `yes.' You've been checking out my pouch ever since you got here. Of course, a lot of straights do that. Curiosity. But I think the tell is that you say you've never been interested in doing anything with gals.

"Of course, you're very naive. And please don't take that as criticism. But you obviously don't know a hellova lot about sexual stuff, erotic feelings, probably haven't even seen any porn.

"So you may discover that you're bisexual. You may even discover that you're totally straight, or asexual, just not all that interested in sex. But I really doubt that."

"But how can I find out?"

"Well....there's one very easy way."

"You mean you'd let me....?"

"Only if you want to, Ron."

There is a one very uncomfortable moment. Neither man speaks. To Ron it seems like forever.

Finally Sam says, "A lot of straight guys do have some kind of an experience with another man. They realize it's not for them. And that's the end of it. Curiosity satisfied."

Another silence. Then slowly Ron's hand reaches for the bulge in Sam's jeans. He feels Sam's dick harden through its cotton prison. He feels a rush unlike any he's ever experienced.

"Can I see it?" he asks.

"You know how jeans work, don't you?" Sam replies. He feels that Ron must take every initiative.

Ron unbuckles, unbuttons, and unzips Sam. He's not surprised to find that Sam is free balling. He knows that the Hart boys all do. Sam's hard-on pops out. It's not a horse cock, but it's nothing to be ashamed of. Well formed, thick, cut, and veined.

Ron stares, then he touches. This time he doesn't ask permission. He takes the rod in his fist and begins to prime the pump. The slit oozes pre-cum. Sam shows his pleasure with a contented moan. "Feels good," he whispers.

Ron is mesmerized. He has to taste it. He's never even dreamed of eating dick before, but he has to taste it. He does.

"Careful of the teeth," Sam whispers.

Ron sinks from the couch to between Sam's knees. It's like sucking dick is an innate skill once Ron has taken all of Sam's pole. He soon brings Sam to the edge of euphoria. "Watch out, Ron, I'm going to cum," he cries.

Ron continues to plunge down, then up.

"Pull off, or I'mmmm...."

Ron gets to drink cum for the first time.

"I warned you, man," Sam says.

Ron doesn't know what to think or say. Sam is just treated to a classic "shit-eating grin."

Finally Ron comes down from his high enough to say, "Man, that was something else."

"You liked it did you?"

"I've never experienced anything like it," Ron admits.

"Want to try something else?"

"Like what, Mr...., like what, Sam?"

"If you want me to, I'll do you."

"You will? Oh god yes!"

Ron is still fully dressed. He is still on his knees in front of Sam. Sam begins to unbutton the plaid shirt Ron is wearing. "You'll be more comfortable without clothes," Sam says, "but if I do anything that makes you uncomfortable, let me know."

Soon Ron is naked and Sam's hands are caressing his pecs, rubbing his abs, and teasing his ass cheeks. In response Ron strips Sam's shirt over his head, and kisses Sam's nipples. For Ron this is a new thing. He's almost cuming by the time Sam takes his tube into his hot mouth. By the time Sam has drunk Ron's cream, Ron is ecstatic.

They sit together in the afterglow.

"So if you want to do it again in a couple of days," Sam tells Ron, "you'll know you really are gay."

"Shit, I want to do it again right now," Ron answers.

"Then you've got the answer you were looking for," Sam declares.

They continue to relax.

"Oh god," Ron suddenly cries, "how can I deal with Win?"

"Just be honest," Sam answers. "Win will understand."

Then Ron really panics. "But how can I deal with my dad?"

Sam embraces Ron in a way that lets him know he's only interested in the younger man's welfare, not his dick.

"Your dad never needs to know, unless you want him to," he begins. "But--and please don't misunderstand why I'm saying this--I suspect that the reason your father is so homophobic is because he's fighting off homosexual feelings he, himself, has. That's often the case. So if he does find out, he may say something like `I'm sorry, son. I was just trying to keep you from becoming somebody like me," or he may disinherit you. That's another thing you have to decide and live with. I never said being gay is easy."

In three hours Sam has gone from minor hostility to fatherly concern. "But one thing you can count on, Ron. If you ever need me, I'll be here."

The interview has gone much, much longer than either of them had anticipated. And Sam has certainly become more involved than he had thought he would. After they put clothes back on, he makes sandwiches and then tells Ron that he isn't in any condition to take the train back downtown. He drops the boy back in front of his dorm.

Win is studying, when Ron arrives. He is a bit disheveled but obviously in a better mood than when he left.

"So how did your meeting go?" Win asks.

Ron decides to follow Sam's advice. "I found out for sure I'm gay."

Win gets up from his desk and goes over to Ron, grabs his dick with one hand and pats his butt with the other. "Welcome to the club," he says. "I hope you'll let me have your cherry."
