Size Does Matter (To Me)

Part XIII: Your Butt Is Mine Gonna Take You Right ... Gonna Hurt Your Mind Don't Shoot To Kill ...

Never in his life had he run so far, so fast. He ran the entire length of the corn field tripping a few times. When he finally came out he cursed himself since he was still a half mile down the road from where he left his car. Fear drove him on as he continued to run. Using the back roads hw discovered in his travels he made it to the motel. It was an hour down the main highway out of town. He collapsed as he entered the motel room. Lucky for him the elderly couple that owned this place were blind as bats and had the memory of goldfish.

When the pigs had come here before after he killed that bitch they could not identify him. His disguise had even fooled a few of the locals when he had to head in for supplies. Now he lay against the door covered in cuts and bruises. Queasily he stood up pulling off his clothes. His legs were not too bad just a nasty bruise on his thigh. His arms and chest were another matter. A few cracked ribs from being tackled while dragging Shane. Slashes all over from running through the corn field. His left arm may be fractured from one of his falls while running

Climbing into the shower and winced as the water washed away the blood and grime. The fear no not fear adrenaline of almost being caught abated and the rage came back. Every cut burned and every breath hurt further fueling his rage. After tonight this would end. No more trying to get Shane back, if he couldn't have him no one would. He would need to rest tomorrow but the day after that Shane would die.

The next afternoon Conner was sitting at at his desk going over last nights reports when an old woman sat down next to him. Looking up Conner looked around, no one seemed to notice her. "Ah, how can I help you miss?"

The little thing looked to be in her seventies with a head full of gray hair. She sat there with her ankles crossed and held a purse that looked much to big for her tiny frame in her lap. She wore thick glasses. "You look like a nice young man I think you would be able to take care of this. Everyone else looks so busy here and you look like you need something to do."

Grimacing Conner tapped his fingers on his desk. "Perhaps but what is it you need help with."

She just sat there calmly smiling. "Oh its not me that needs any help. I own the old motel out by the highway. One of my tenants came in this morning all beat up. He asked me where the closest pharmacy was. I told him he either had to come into town or go farther out over an hour away. The poor thing looked distraught and confused. I was already coming into town so I offered to show him or bring him with me but he just took off the other way. It seemed someone really hurt him and he is too modest to ask for help so I thought I would come ask for him. Its a shame a nice young man like him got beat up."

Conner sat there in a stunned silence. 'Could it be that easy?' he thought. After months of nothing the killer falls into their lap. He started franticly searching his desk till he found the picture. "Tell me is this the man staying at your motel?"

She pulled an even thicker pair of glasses out of her purse and put them on. Taking the picture she hummed to herself. "Hmm, it could be him but the young man staying with us has brown hair not blond. He also has a mustache and has more muscles."

Conner's heart was racing, the adrenaline surging him forward. "You stay right here. I will defiantly check him out to make sure everything is fine, wait right here a minute." She just nodded as he jumped up and ran to Herb's office. Not bothering to knock he flung open the door. Herb was having a heated discussion on the phone. Conner ripped the phone from Herb's hand told whoever it was Herb would call him back and slammed the phone down.

Herb slowly stood up murder in his eyes. "After last night you better have a good explanation for that! I was talking to the Mayor!"

His voice dead even Conner locked eyes with his boss. "I need five guys in full tactical gear. We got the bastard but we have to hurry!"

Herb went stiff, "You sure about this?"

Conner nodded his head, "I'm one hundred percent positive."

Sitting back down Herb looked into his juniors eyes. He could see a fire and determination few other had. "Then go. Take who and what ever you think you need. Don't tell Alex though. We need to protect him from doing something stupid."

Going back out he called over his shoulder, "No problem. I don't mind pissing off the grizzly when its for his own good."

Stopping just long enough talking to the old woman to find out which room Todd was staying in and what kind of car he drove he ordered someone to watch over her. Picking the first five guys in eye site he ordered them to the armory. Making quick plans and suiting up they took off reaching the motel in record time.

Checking the place out Todd was nowhere in site. Getting into the room it was obvious that Todd was coming back. So they set up. Parking behind the motel where they would not be seen. Two Deputies stayed in cars in case Todd tried to rabbit. Two stayed at the motel office in the back prepared in case he came in their first. Conner stayed in the room ready to hide in the closet behind the entrance while the other Deputy waited in the bathroom.

An hour and a half went by before a car matching the old womans description arrived. Todd approached the room a Wallgreens bag in one hand and McDonald's in the other. Going inside he dropped the bags on the bed. Turning around he came face to face with Conner, an assault rifle pointed at his head. Todd lunged for Conner but before he could barely move Conner kicked him square in the chest.

Conner knelled down putting his face right into Todd's. "You better be glad it was me that found you.

Following the old adage of strength in numbers the whole gang was gathered at Trish's house having a somber dinner. Alex spent most of the time fuming at himself for not being able to do more. Shane was in a deep depression, he didn't want to talk to anyone and quietly sat in a corner knowing this was all his fault hurt worse then anything. Trish and Jeff discussed what to do when all this was over. Trish was always planning something. Liz always the mother looked after Max. The young boy would break down crying all day and Liz was the only one able to calm him down. The spaghetti they made was hardly touched when one of the Deputies came in to bring them to the station.

Herb ushered them into the conference room. "Sorry you're going to have to wait here for a little bit there has been a bit of a delay. They had to stop at the hospital before they could come here."

Liz collapsed in a chair, hand to her heart. "Oh my god! Who is hurt now?"

Herb put up a hand on her shoulder to calm her. "Don't worry everyone is fine. Conner may have a sore foot but nothing major. Everyone just sit and relax they should be here in about twenty minutes and all will be explained."

Half an hour later they heard cheers coming from the main room. Going out they saw Conner escorting a man wrapped in bandages and in cuffs. Before anyone could stop him Shane ran and jumped on Todd and just started wailing on him screaming incoherently. Several men tried to pull him off but it took Alex wrapping his arms around Shane and lifting him right off. Shane melted into his arms and Alex carried him back to the conference room. Todd was picked up and taken to a interrogation room.

Alex had Jeff take everyone home. He walked over to Conner who was talking to Herb. Both men turned to him concern on their faces. "Look Alex, I know you wanted to catch that asshole but I had to move fast. Quiet frankly we were worried you might do something you would later regret."

The two men viably tensed as Alex placed a hand on each ones shoulders. Pulling them into a tight hug they relaxed and placed an arm around him. With one last squeeze he just said "Thank you." then turned and walked away. All the tension in the room went away and no one noticed at first where Alex was going. He went straight to the interrogation room. Before the deputy inside could say anything to Alex he picked him up and threw him out the door. Slamming the door shut he locked it then took one of the hard metal framed chair and braced the door so it couldn't be opened.

Alex sat back in the other chair and crossed his arms relaxing. Immediately there was pounding on the door and shouts to open it. Alex calmly turned his head to the mirror behind him. "Could you guys just watch quietly we need to have a little chat." He turned back to Todd. "Sorry about that they didn't want to let me talk to you."

True to form Herb and Conner were in the other room watching through the one way mirror and preying that Alex wasn't loosing it. Herb signaled the men to stop then switched on the cameras and microphones.

It was obvious Todd was uncomfortable. The chair was designed to be that way. His legs were cuffed and chained to a ring in the floor. He could only sit straight up now with six broken ribs and a cracked sternum. Since he couldn't move much they had to cuff each wrist to the arms of the chair instead of the chain attached to a ring in the table. The pain killers he was given at the hospital were wearing off and he would have to wait till a Deputy authorized to give him another. He wasn't afraid he was incapable of fear. Instead he used the pain to continue fueling the rage.

Seeming like he hadn't a care in the world Alex just said, "Why?"

Todd sneered, "I love him. He is mine and I would do anything to have him back. I was even ready to forgive him for leaving. Well id forgive him after he paid a bit first."

Alex waived that off, "No. You misunderstand me. In some sick twisted way I get that. After all your a psychopath. What I want to know is why you killed 'WHO' you killed."

Todd threw his head back and groaned. "Who gives a fuck about them. Shane is the only one that matters."

Alex leaned forward hands laced together tightly on the table. "It matters to their families. Can you please tell me? I want to give them peace of mind. At the end of this it might even help you."

Todd winced as he tried to shrug, "I don't need any help. I don't know how yet but I'll get out of here. Then Shane will be mine again."

There, that was it, that was the opening he needed. Alex hated himself for having to use it though. "You don't seem to get it. Shane was scared of you. It got to the point he left you. Maybe if he heard what you went through to find him he would see how much you truly love him. He didn't see what you did to him was just your way of showing you loved him. I've gotten to know him pretty well. He wants to be loved and he doesn't get that from anyone. I try to be his friend but that's not enough. His sister just uses him as a babysitter. I'm sure you know his parents disowned him when they found out hes gay."

This brought a thoughtful smile to Todd's face. "I almost killed them too. I figured they would draw too much attention. His sister ended up being useful so I left her alone. Following her brought me here. Do you really think knowing would help bring us closer."

Alex smiled and nodded. If he opened his mouth now he might throw up. Trying to appease this trash made him sick and ashamed.

Todd seemed to perk up a bit. His rage was ebbing. Hope was starting to shine for him. "Well at first when Shane disappeared I called everyone we knew. No one seemed to know what happened to him. A few months went by and I got the idea of going to his work. Maybe they knew where he was working now and could tell me. I went there as it was closing up and was able to meet the human resources manager. Right off the bat she wouldn't tell me anything. I went to leave and when I got out to my car something was bothering me. I knew she knew something. So I waited outside and followed her home. When I got my chance I grabbed her and threw her in my trunk. I made her let me in then I tied her up. I went through everything but couldn't fine Shane's information. She just sat there crying saying I would never get what I wanted. I just lost it. I ended up cutting fingers off one at a time but she still wouldn't break so I just ended it." He chuckled, "You know she would have made a great spy. She wouldn't talk no matter what I did."

Alex had gone a bit pale he could feel the bile rising up. He took a deep breath trying to keep calm. "Alright that's one down. How about the young man you left in a park?"

Todd looked down frowning. He actually felt some shame for this one. "That was a mistake. I was out at a club drowning my sorrows. I met him at the bar and we hit it off. He looked so much like Shane. I figured what the hell maybe he could be a substitute Shane. It was his idea to fuck in the park. It was amazing to find someone who looked like Shane and liked it really rough. I was drunk and we were going at it. I had my hands around his throat. I got angry that he wasn't really Shane and when I filled his ass and stood up it was too late. I had killed him and didn't even know it. That one I can honestly say im sorry for. Hey do you think I could get some water and my pain meds this is really starting to hurt."

"Sure I could use a little air myself before we continue." Alex went and unblocked the door. A few of the Deputies came in right away and checked things out. When he got out of Todd's sight he ran for the bathroom just barely making it before loosing what little dinner he had eaten. Feeling a presence behind him he sighed, "Herb I'm OK. Just let me finish this. I need it to be over."

"For a guy about to be Sheriff you aren't very perceptive." Conner leaned over him and handed him a bottle of water.

Alex rinsed his mouth out before getting back up. "I know it would be one of you. I had a fifty/fifty shot and the best bet would be on Herb."

Conner leaned against the sink, "He is on the phone with the ADA right now making sure this confession your getting will hold up in court."

Alex shrugged as he left the room, "I don't care I just have to know why." He went back into the room and sat back down. One of Todd's hands had been freed so he could sip on a bottle of water. "Good news. I talked to Shane and I will be seeing him in a few hours. Maybe I can get him in to see you. Now where were we?"

Todd brightened up, "You really think so? That would be so great. You know you got in my way one night. I was all set to get Shane, but you showed up. I wanted to kill you bad, now im glad I didn't."

Alex scratched the side of his head. "Guess I got lucky. I keep getting told im not very perceptive. It probably wouldn't have taken much. New can we please get back to the others. You were about to tell me about the older guy in Detroit."

He took a last sip of the water and put it down. "Sorry when it comes to Shane I get a bit lost. That guy shouldn't have fucked with me. He came off as this nice guy good to his family and all but he was scum. I paid him to get me the codes to Shane's alarm system. The bastard got greedy. I arranged to pick up the code at a restaurant he was going to be at. He wasn't going to give me it unless I paid him double. So I took care of business."

Alex took a deep breath and sighed. "His company is not going to like that. It opens up a lot more investigations."

Todd smirked. "See in a way I helped you out with that one."

Gripping the arms of his chair Alex steeled himself for what was coming next. "You have our thanks for that. Now please tell me about the waitress." He had to choke back that last part. Taking a deep breath he looked down at his knees. He needed to keep his calm.

Todd blinked, "Don't you want to know about the one before her?"

Alex's head shot up. Behind him he could faintly hear someone (most likely Herb) yell 'son of a bitch.' He tried to play it cool, "Oh we thought that came after her. Go ahead tell me about it."

Shrugging Todd acted like it was nothing. "I can understand that seeing as it happened so far away. I had to leave for a week to go on a hunting trip with my dad. I had this eight point buck in my sights when this asshole snaps a twig and scares it off. It was easy to spot him in his orange vest so I just fired."

Alex looked briefly back to the mirror eyes wide. Turning back he steeled himself again. "Was the waitress the last one or do you have any other surprises for us?"

Todd drained the last of the water. "No, no more surprises. That bitch was the last one."

Looking down at his hands Alex could see his knuckles were white. He didn't realize at first his hands were hurting. He was struggling to keep his breathing even.

In the other room Herb was on his feet. "Conner go wait outside that door. Be ready cause I think Alex is about to loose it. I would do it but I might just let it happen."

Todd continued on, "I had come to town to see Shane. When he got up on stage that was the first time I had actually seen him in three years. I wasn't expecting that. I was stunned at see him do that. Showing off for everyone. It kinda made me mad that he was sharing himself like that. But before all that I had gone around asking about him since I couldn't find him in the crowd. That slut got all excited when she talked about him. If we weren't surrounded by people I would have punched her in the face then and there. She went over the line when she kissed Shane after the show. As soon as everyone was out of site of the bar I ran in and let her have it. I made her pay for it. In the end I made it hurt. I held her down and slowly slid the knife in. When it was over I panicked and ran. I kicked myself for leaving the knife. It was one of the few things Shane ever gave me other then himself."

Slowly Alex stood up. Darkness washed over his face. Conner opened the door and stood behind Alex. Herb shut off the surveillance gear, no sense giving lawyers any ammo. Alex's huge imposing frame allowed him to lean across the whole table and put his face inches from Todd's. He lowered his voice so only Todd could hear him. "You're lucky Michigan doesn't have the death penalty. That's good cause I think death is too good for you. You should be really glad I wasn't the one to find you. You would still live but the pain your in now would be nothing compared to what id do."

Confusion covered Todd's face. "Like you really care. It's not like any of them really mattered to you."

Alex place a finger to Todd's chest without putting any pressure on it. "You're wrong there. The waitress you butchered was my godmother. Her name was Jessica and she was the most wonderful women I have ever known. She was one of the most important people in my life. This community is my home and you have made it feel wrong for too long. My mother is a wreck because of you."

He started to put just a little pressure behind his finger. Todd's eyes went wide, for the first time in his life he was feeling fear. "You can't hurt me you're surrounded by cops. Hell you're a cop."

Alex smiled a low growl in his throat. Todd tried to sink back feeling the finger pushing on his chest. Conner put a hand on his shoulder to pull him back but Alex shrugged it off. "And just so you know Shane is with me." Todd's eyes about popped out of his head. "I love him and im sure he has strong feelings for me. We do so much together. His sister is wonderful to him. His nephew Max is his world. Our sex is out of this world. I've never had a man fill me up so well. When he fucks me its bliss."

Todd tried to jump out of his chair. His rage renewed he ignored the pain the cuff still attached to his other wrist digging in slicing it up. Alex stood back up a grin on his face. "Now you can go to jail knowing everything you wanted is mine." Alex walked out and continued out of the station to his truck.

Conner hurried after him. "Alex wait!" Alex ignored him and got in the truck. Conner stopped him from closing the door. "Alex are you OK? You shouldn't be alone."

Alex turned to him tears covering his face. "I'm going home Conner. This is over as far as I'm concerned. Just let it go." He slammed the door shut and took off.

When he got home Shane was sitting on his steps. "Conner called me. Gave me a rundown what happened."

Alex sat down next to him. "Why aren't you with everyone?"

Shane wrapped an arm around him. "I should be asking you the same thing. Liz wanted to go home and Max didn't want her to leave so he is with her." Shane chuckled, "He is already calling her grandma. You should see her face light up when he does."

One corner lifted on Alex's mouth. "Great now I'll never hear the end of me giving her grand kids."

"Trish wanted to go check on the bar so Jeff took her. With all that's gone on she hasn't been there in a few days. I stayed with Liz and Max so I could take him home when Trish got back." Shane stood up trying to pull Alex with him. "Come on lets go inside. It's been a long day and we could both use a shower and some sleep."

Alex followed him upstairs and they took a hot shower taking their time stealing kisses and light touching. When they got to the bed they laid down Alex spooning Shane. Shane could feel tears falling on his shoulder and turned over kissing them away. This turned into a passionate kiss leading to slow sensual love making. This wasn't sex this was two men sharing their deep feelings for each other.

As they fell asleep Shane gave Alex one last kiss before snuggling into his chest hair and just before he passed out he said "I love you."

Alex was elated and pecked the top of his head returning the sentiment but Shane was already asleep.

Trish and Jeff walked into the bar hand in hand. The place was pretty dead even for a Monday night. The bartender saw them come in and leaped over the bar rushing up to her.

Trish looked Shocked and Jeff amused, "Since when is it OK to do something like that?"

The bartender grabber he by the shoulders. "Thank god your here! Can you get her out of here she is driving everyone away."

Trish looked perplexed till she spotted the woman over his shoulder. Looking regal and pompous she strutted up and shoved the bartender aside. "So this is where you went." She looked Jeff up and down the gestured around the place. "This is how you live your life now. He is obviously a ruffian. Look at all those cuts and bruises. Couldn't find a decent man huh? And buying this place. I didn't raise you to become trash."

Trish grabbed her by the arm and threw her out the door screaming. After all that happened she couldn't take anymore. "Get the fuck out of here! I better never see you around here again! I have friends with the Sheriffs Department and they won't hesitate to boot your sorry ass out of town!"

Jeff followed them outside just in time to see the older woman hit the ground. She got up and ran to her car taking off. "OK honey who the hell was that?"

Trish spun around her eyes red and bloodshot crying. "That was my mom."

You thought it was over didn't you. Muhahahahaha. ? that's my evil laugh. It is the end of Part XIII though. "Something wicked this way comes" I couldn't help with the title from the last part sure several songs have been made like it but the original is from Shakespeare's Macbeth. That might have been cheating a little bit. I almost drug this story line out a bit longer but I was too eager to get onto the next one. I promise I have some steamy sex ready for the next part and an election just weeks away. Things are not going to go where you think they are going. Send in your comments guys. I could always use a few constructive suggestions. chefinthewild@yahoo.com
