Tel Pere, Tel Fils, Chapter 4

Tuesday found Peter and Nate on the way to the store shortly after a hasty breakfast. They had overslept slightly and had hurriedly done a quick washup to remove the evidence of erotic dreams both had experienced.

They had grabbed the lunches Kevin and Glenn had packed for them and were riding in Nate's car because he insisted that they should take turns driving to share commuting expenses.

The minute they were out of the driveway, Peter reached over and put his hand on Nate's right thigh. Nate took his right hand off the steering wheel and laid it on top of Peter's.

"This feels so right!" Nate exclaimed.

"So, you're still okay this morning with what we did last night?"

"Yup, I thought you could tell."

"Sorry for being insecure; this is all so new to me. It's gonna be hard hiding our feelings all day," Peter lamented.

"I have the feeling that a couple of things are going to be hard all day for sure," Nate joked. "I'm so glad you came to live at our house. Earlier in the summer, I assumed that you were avoiding me. I guess I didn't read the signals right."

"Actually, you did. I told you before that I've had a lot on my mind the last couple of months knowing I could soon be homeless. But I was also purposely staying away from you because I feared I do something like I did in the shower last night and lose your friendship."

"Obviously, you only gained. You don't know how long I wanted something like this to happen. I'm still kicking myself for staying in the closet so long. We could have been doing this last year."

"No, it's probably good that we waited. It might have complicated things more than they are now. With Paul around, it's going to be difficult enough."

"Okay, maybe we can't be as open as we'd like to be, but we still have each other. We're going to make it in the long run and your brother needs to be out of his parent's house."

In the supermarket lot, Nate backed his car into a spot away from where any other cars were parked. He asked Peter to help him put up the reflective shield to keep the sun out. Then, checking in the other direction to find that no one was around, the teens shared a kiss.

Paul slept in longer than the others. When he shuffled into the kitchen in his sleep-shorts to find something for breakfast, he was startled to see that Ella was already there preparing a casserole which she planned to put in the oven later in the afternoon for dinner.

"Oops! Sorry, Ma'am. I forgot you were here. I would have gotten dressed."

"No problem young man. I have a grandson your age and he runs around in his underwear a lot when we don't have company. What would you like to eat?"

"I'll have cereal if you show me where it is. That's all I usually get."

"Wouldn't you like something more substantial?"

"No thanks. I don't want to put you to any trouble."

"It's no trouble. In fact, it would help if you ate the extra food that your brother and Nate didn't get to because they were in a hurry. There are two Belgian waffles which I can reheat in the air fryer and the scrambled eggs and bacon can be nuked. It won't keep very well for tomorrow, and I hate to waste food."

"Okay! That sounds great."

Paul dug into his meal with a grin on his face. He wasn't used to having a hot breakfast except on special occasions. He forgot about being half naked and enjoyed being fussed over by this nice older lady who was acting like she was his grandmother.

"Now that you're fed, you can do whatever you want with the rest of your day. I'll make lunch for us around noon. I'm sure you'll be bored if you're not occupied. There are several things you could do. You're welcome to use the pool. The guys keep a bin with clean swimsuits in the pool house for when they have company. There's bound to be something that fits.

"Did the boys give you the code for the Wi-Fi so you can use your laptop?"

"Yes Ma'am. I have it."

"Paul, you're a very polite young man, but I'd appreciated it if you'd call me Ella.' Everyone in the family does. Ma'am' sounds too formal."

"Thanks, Ella. And thanks for the awesome breakfast! Did I thank you for dinner last night?"

"Only three or four times," Ella laughed.

"Could you use any help with cleaning or preparing stuff?"

"Thanks for asking. I'm used to doing it all myself and I have a kind of routine. However, if you have the time and inclination, you might skim the pool of leaves and bugs or anything else that's fallen in there since yesterday."

"Cool! I can do that."

Kevin picked up his son from the store shortly before noon. Greg said he could easily allow Peter to go for the appointment because it usually wasn't busy at that hour. Peter took his sack lunch with him to eat in the car. Thankfully, nothing needed to be warmed up. He'd miss his time with Nate, but this was the best solution for everyone. He was quite excited about having undisputable proof of his kinship with Kevin. He'd known the man for just a few days, but he was already forming a bond. The only thing he would truly miss about his former family was Paul.

"Dad, is there any chance we could keep Paul? I know he'd be another mouth to feed and educate and all that. I'd give up all the money Mom left me if we could. I hate to leave him in that situation."

"You have a heart of gold," Peter. "I would love to add another son to my family. We can afford it without taking your funds. The problem is that it's liable to be difficult to gain custody. Despite allegations of abuse, judges often keep kids with their biological parents."

"That's ironic, isn't it?" Peter observed. "Here I've been mistreated by my adoptive parents and my biological father has to fight to keep me."

"Obviously, it will be a short fight. In about a month, you'll be of age and can do as you please. In the meantime, I can throw enough wrenches in the machinery to prevent your adoptive parents from taking you. What we're doing today is like dropping a big spanner in the works, if you know what I mean."

"I've read a number of stories set in England, so I do know," Peter grinned.

The process of taking a DNA sample was quick and painless. The lab tech promised results within 24 to 48 hours, depending on how busy they were. Peter was soon back at work and would lose only half an hour's pay which he could make up by staying a bit longer someday, though he didn't need the money as much as he had a few days ago.

"Ella, this casserole smells delicious!" Glenn enthused. "Did you do what I suggested and make one to take home for Jameson and you?"

"Yes, and thanks for the suggestion. It's one of his favorites."

"I have another thought about your grandson. Why don't you bring him along tomorrow to be company for Paul? I'm sure he'd enjoy the pool and he's probably getting bored with summer by now."

"Jameson has a couple of lawns to mow, but I could get him after that. I know he'd love it."

"If someone would take me, I could help him with the lawns, um, that is if he'd like me to," Paul piped up. "I could trim and stuff."

"I'm sure he'd enjoy the company," Ella said. "He's alone too much. I'll bet he'd even share the money he makes."

"I won't take any," Paul insisted. "It would be a way to pay back how nice you've been to me. Breakfast and lunch were awesome."

"I get paid for that already, young man."

"Maybe for making it, but you don't get paid for being kind to me!"

When it got close to bedtime, the teens were going to let Paul use the main shower first. He, however, said that he had showered in the pool house late in the afternoon and hadn't worked up a sweat after that. The other two said they were still going to share to save time. In his mind, Paul wondered if that was all they would share. His brother and Nate had been in a playful, kind of grab-ass, mood at dinner and afterward as well.

Peter and Nate brushed their teeth and stripped quickly while the water was warming up. Their boy parts spring up like pouncing tigers immediately. They wrapped one another in their arms and kissed passionately. They had been horny all day and could hardly wait for release. That came about five minutes into their shower as they rubbed their sudsy bodies together. It took several more minutes to wash the evidence down the drain.

They toweled each other dry and then kissed again. That caused them to plump up somewhat, but they figured they'd spent quite a bit of time in the room already. Others might become suspicious if they dallied longer.

Paul wasn't the only one who had noticed how much Peter and Nate had touched during the evening. Kevin and Glenn discussed it as they lay in bed waiting for sleep to hit them.

"I think your gaydar is working fine, Love," Kevin said. "And it looks like the crush is mutual. Neither of them could keep their hands to themselves."

"It might not be more than puppy love, but they are almost adults. However it goes down, I think we should support them. They do make a cute couple."

"I agree with you. I'm not going to dissuade them. They're still in their teens and that's kind of young. I just hope they don't get hurt. If they end up having a spat, I promise I won't take sides."

"If I remember correctly, we were only in our mid 20's when we connected. Some of our friends and family didn't think we'd make it either."

"So true! And I'm so glad we proved them wrong."

Paul spent part of the morning helping Jameson with his mowing jobs. As Ella had predicted, the kid offered to share part of his earnings. Paul refused to take any money. He had a feeling that his new acquaintance likely needed it more than he did. Jameson didn't say anything about his parents, but Paul got the impression that they were out of the picture. Ella's housekeeping job could be their main source of income. In comparison, Paul didn't have it so bad. He might be in trouble with his father, but he trusted that Kevin would figure out a way to protect him. The Department of Human Services was already involved. He couldn't be put out on the street, and the social worker would provide at least some protection to prevent his father from severely punishing him. He also had a little spending money squirreled away and he might be able to get some kind of job to supplement it.

In conversing, the two boys found they had a number of things in common. Although they'd never actually met before, they had competed against one another in swimming meets. Both would be freshmen at City High despite attending different middle schools. Although they had several friends who would be in classes with them, it never hurt to have another one when heading into a new situation.

During that time, Jamie invited Paul to use his nickname, like most of his classmates did. That made Paul feel even closer to him.

After Ella picked the boys up at 11:30, she prepared lunch for them. They were excited to get into the pool to splash around and possibly hone their skills. They would be happy to help each other since they would be on the same team this year.

On Friday afternoon, Kevin received a message from the lab that the test proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that Peter was his son. Now he had scientific evidence to back his paternity claim. He was thrilled, and he texted Peter immediately with the results.

Peter and Nate happened to be going on break when the message came in. They high-fived, fist-bumped, and chattered excitedly. They would have loved sharing a kiss. Naturally, that wasn't going to happen until later.

Mr. Pankow stopped by the table in the back room where they were sitting. When Peter told him what the excitement was about, Greg bumped fists with him too. He had always liked this boy, and he'd heard rumors that his adoptive family was turning him loose when he turned 18. Greg couldn't imagine why anyone would do that to such a fine kid. However, he'd also heard gossip that the parents were religious nuts.

Kevin called Ella to see if she had started dinner. She said that she was marinating a pork roast but it could easily be held until the next night if he had something else in mind. He asked her to pick up a dozen bacon-wrapped sirloin filets from Fareway to grill. He said that there would be a total of seven for dinner, but it was likely the teens might split a second piece of meat with someone to fill them up. Glenn and he would do the cooking. She should also buy several sides so she wouldn't have to make anything. In addition, Jameson and she were invited to eat with them because Paul wanted him to stay overnight.

Needless to say, Ella was thrilled. She was tired and would enjoy not having the responsibility for preparing dinner for her employers or herself. She was even more pleased that her grandson was making friends with Paul. He seemed to a very nice kid. Jameson could use a close buddy.

Since Ella had changed all the beds which had been used that week, there was no problem with having Paul and Jameson share the room with the twin beds. Nate and Peter took care of deflating the queen-size mattress, which left the room uncluttered.

Jamie and Paul showered separately, with Paul insisting that his guest go first. Peter and Nate chose to share again.

"Let's hold off on coming until we go to bed," Nate proposed. "I'd like to spend the whole night together."

"We have to work tomorrow," Peter reminded him. "I'm not sure how long I should stay up."

"Okay, let's do what we've been doing in the shower and then cuddle all night."

"Um, what if we get caught?"

"What if we do? I think we need to tell the rest of the family anyway. Maybe we should wait until Jameson leaves, but I want to be honest."

"Okay."

The two teens started out like they had the past couple of nights, but this time Nate dropped to his knees and took Peter's favorite part in his mouth. The feeling was so intense that Peter knew he wasn't going to last long. He pulled Nate to his feet and exchanged places. Nate was soon near the point of no return, so he asked Peter to back off.

"Let's finish this in bed so we can do each other at the same time."

"Cool."

Drying off quickly, they wrapped their towels around their loins and scurried to Nate's room. Once there, they wasted no time in assuming the 69-possition. It didn't take more than five minutes for them to climax. Fortunately their lustful moans were muted because their mouths were filled with each other. Sharing their bodies in this way meant there was no need for cleanup.

The next morning, Nate and Peter woke up grinning. They had both slept well and were full of piss and vinegar - well piss for sure. The sprinted across the hall to empty their bladders and brush their teeth. They were dressed and down in the kitchen in a short time.

Glenn was there already making their breakfast.

"Do I need to pack lunches for you?" he asked.

"Nope, we did that ourselves last night."

"You're on top of it. Nate, you're becoming more independent and responsible. I don't know if that's a change for Peter, but I think you're good for each other."

"We think so too," Nate grinned as he took Peter's hand in his. Peter didn't pull away, but he grinned also.

"We make a great team."

"So the feeling is mutual?"

"Definitely," Peter said. "Do you think Dad will have a problem with it?"

"What am I going to have a problem with?" Kevin asked as he entered the room.

Instead of answering, the boys held up their joined hands.

"It's not a problem as long as it isn't one-sided and no one gets hurt," Kevin said. "Glenn and I had wondered if we were reading the signs correctly."

With the older teens off to the store on Saturday, the men had more time to get acquainted with the younger ones as they enjoyed time in the pool. Of course, they all wore suits.

Paul was a lot like his older, adopted brother in looks as well as mannerisms. Both had hair in the dark blond range and eyes which were hazel, tending toward green. Jameson had darker hair and brown eyes, some of the characteristics which Ella had. He was her son's boy, but Kevin didn't know the story of why he lived with his grandmother. In their conversation, the kid told more about his life and vented some of his frustrations.

It seemed that his father had bailed out three years ago after Jameson's mother had been diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer. Ironically, she was young and had never smoked. However, her parents had been heavy tobacco users. Jameson's world had been shattered by essentially losing both parents at once. Of course, his mother had lingered in hospice care for several months. That was rough, but at least he got to keep her longer and had the chance to let go gradually. He had had a grief counselor and now had a new therapist who was supposed to help stabilize his life. He still felt like he was alone.

Kevin and Glenn exchanged glances which meant they were on the same wavelength. It would be a good idea to have him as their guest often. If they got to keep Paul, the two could become good friends.

The older teens had had a busy day at the store since they were still a bit short on help. In the process, they had built up a good appetite for dinner as lads of that age are prone to do. Glenn was pleased that he had the excellent roast Ella had planned for Friday night. She even had little red potatoes, carrots, and onions prepared to put in with it. A fancy caramel pecan ice cream topped off their dinner. Everyone was sated and satisfied.

The adults cleaned up the kitchen and shooed the teens out to play in the pool. Since the men were going to watch a TV program instead of swimming, Nate suggested they all go skinny. Jamie blushed, but didn't object, and soon they were horsing around in the water.

When daylight began to fade around 8:45, the boys went to the pool house to shower. Naturally, Peter and Nate didn't dare to do what they would have if they'd been alone, but getting clean and going to bed didn't mean they'd sleep right away either.

When the topic of going to church in the morning arose, all four of the kids expressed their willingness to participate.

Before going to their rooms, Paul brought up the subject of getting a job.

"Do you think Jamie and I could get hired on for a few hours as bag boys?"

"We do need more help," Peter said. "I'll bet you could work Saturdays at least. Fourteen is old enough for that kind of job, but you might need to have a parent or guardian sign for you."

"I'll bet Grandma would let me," Jamie smiled.

"I know my parents might object to it, but I think Kevin or Glenn could sign," Paul said, hopefully. "I wish I could live here fulltime."

"It might be possible," Peter speculated. "Kevin has the social worker digging into how you've been treated. They even have a private investigator who works for the firm at times. They may come up with enough evidence to get you out of that house. You probably have more feelings of attachment to our parents than I do. They made it quite plain that I was adopted and was a bad seed. The only reason our mother doesn't want me to come here early is to make waves. I can't have a lot of feelings for either one of them."

`You're lucky that you don't share any genes with them," Paul exclaimed. "Think how screwed up I might be."

"They might have messed with your head like they did mine, but you've never bought into everything they believe. I think you resisted more than I did, only you kept it hidden better because you're not gay."

"We might not be related, but you're the best brother I could ever have," Paul said as he hugged Peter tightly.
