Chapter 1: Starting Out

"Come on Mat! We're gonna miss our train!" Matthew Dougherty grabbed his suitcase out of the trunk of his Mom's Dodge Dakota, gave her a peck on the cheek and ran after his twin sister, Jenna, calling out over his shoulder,

"Bye Mom!" As he raced through the train station he couldn't help laughing, this was the first day of summer and he was going to spend it in Los Angeles! Puffing, he caught up with Jenna just as she smiled brightly at the conductor and climbed aboard. Mat loved trains, actually he loved anything involving traveling. Anything that took him from one place to another was fantastic. Matthew was a tall boy at 6' even and with his flawless greek skin and piercing brown eyes he constantly had females flinging themselves at him. But he had one flaw as far as those girls were concerned: he was gay. As Mat sat himself next to Jenna his mind drifted back to last year when he had admitted it to his mom and she had just said, "Be careful, hun. I have told your sister this and I'm telling you. I trust you not to do anything stupid. Don't betray that trust." He had hugged her tightly and promised that he would be careful.

"Mat! Stop spacing out." Jenna said snapping her fingers in front of his eyes. He looked into eyes that were identical to his and grinned,

"Will you chill out? We just barely started. We have a couple of hours before we're there." Jenna just laughed at him,

"Oh yeah right. Like you're less excited than I am, your probably more excited." Mat laughed, "I know, I know. But if I think of where we are going I'm going to be running up down this train, completely unable to sit still, so I figure I will pretend that we are on our way to visit Brad." Jenna grimaced, and Mat silently cursed himself; their cousin Brad had managed to hit on both of them the last time they had stayed at his house about a month ago. He had practically raped Jenna, but Mat had heard her screaming and had practically killed Brad.

"I'd rather not imagine that thank you. If I never see him again it will be to soon." Jenna said softly looking out the window. Mat looked at her in concern, he knew that she was weary about guys almost to the point of paranoia since Brad had attacked her.

"Jen...are you--" Jenna cut him off, "I'm fine Mat."She let the edge go out of her voice and smiled at him, "Really Mat, I'm okay. Don't worry." Mat laughed softly,

"I'm your big brother, how can I not worry." Jenna glared, "You are a minute and a half older than me, you really don't deserve to be called a big brother."

Mat grinned, "Maybe I'm talking about height. There I am definitely your big brother." Jenna smacked him lightly, she was a petite girl at 5'3" but with the same long black hair and flawless skin as her brother. But she had a temper that amazed her family, compared with Mat who was calmness incarnate most of the time. She had only seen him lose his temper once, and that had been when he had found Brad trying to rape her. Jenna sighed deeply and looked out the window as her brother pulled out his cd player. She heard the Backstreet Boys blaring from the headphones and laid back trying to fall asleep.

Mat watched his sister as she fell deeply asleep. He wished that she could find a guy that made her totally fall head over heals in love with him, but because of Brad he wondered if she would ever be able to trust enough to love. Looking at the cover of the cd he stared at Brian. 'Does he ever wonder if he will ever find love?' Mat thought, Brian Littrell was his idol, and his favorite sexual fantasy. He sighed and felt doubt and depression settle over him as he thought about his life. 'Just forget about it Mat. You will someday find the perfect guy for you, and it won't be Brian Littrell. You have to deal with that. He is straight.' He sighed again and whispered, "But damn I wish that he was gay." Closing his eyes he quickly fell asleep, dreaming about what he would see in LA. The land where nobodies can become somebodies in minutes, and dreams can come true if you believe in them hard enough.

Chapter 2: Getting There

When Mat woke it was to Jenna shaking him furiously. "Mat! Wake up right now! We're there."

Mat opened sleepy eyes and immediately began putting away his stuff. Jenna looked at him and he looked up from putting away his cd's.

"What is it Jenna?" he asked in confusion at the look of disgust on her face.

"Just you!" She cried gesturing back at him as he followed her off the train. "I mean how can you possibly be my brother?! You wake up and are immediately awake, and not a hair out of place! While I look like I crawled out of a rat bag!" she huffed at him then turned away from intent on ignoring him it seemed.

Mat looked his sister over, her hair was still in the ponytail that she had put it in that morning, her clothes weren't half as rumpled as his and she obviously felt more energetic than he did if her mood was any clue. He sighed, he would never understand her. That was one reason why he really wondered how you could have a relationship with a woman, they were so totally different from guys. He was closer to his twin than anyone else in the world but he still never understood her. Females just think differently. He suddenly realized that he was standing in the middle of the train station looking at his sister with an incredibly confused look on his face.

"God, I am so stupid sometimes." he muttered.

"I'll agree with that." Jenna said grinning at him, "Oh!! There they are! UNCLE DOUG!!" Jenna shouted as she spotted their aunt and uncle looking around the train station anxiously.

"Jen! Mat! It is so good to see you two!" Their uncle picked Jenna up and swung her around, as Mat caught up with his sister and hugged his aunt.

"Uncle Doug I thought that you had to work today." Mat said hugging his uncle tightly.

"And miss meeting my favorite niece and nephew at the station? Never!" Their tall, balding uncle cried in a rich deep voice that divulged his acting past. Mat and Jenna grinned at each other and Jenna turned on their aunt.

"Aunt Cathy, weren't you supposed to do camera work on that new show today??" Their petite aunt grinned mischievously,

"And let Doug take you two to my favorite Chinese restaurant for lunch without me? Never!" They all laughed and their Uncle quickly relieved Jenna of her suitcase despite her protests while their aunt swiftly directed them all to the exit.

"So Jenna..any new boyfriends?" Uncle Doug asked as they piled the suitcases in the trunk of the car. Jenna grimaced, they had agreed not to tell anyone in the family what Brad had tried to do to her, but Mat had a feeling that by the end of this trip his aunt and uncle would know the truth.

They would want to know why Jenna always locked her door at night now. He had to admit, since the night that Mat had woken up to find his cousin holding him down and trying to tie him up, he hadn't slept very well either.

Jenna forced a laugh and said easily, "Not this month Uncle Doug." They were soon out of the train station's parking lot and cruising toward downtown LA,

"What about you Mat? Any boyfriends?" Mat also grimaced, he couldn't admit to really trying to meet anyone either since Brad,

"No, not really Uncle Doug. All of the good ones are taken." Mat smiled at his uncle through the rearview mirror.

"So where is this restaurant, and are we likely to see any celebrities there?" Jenna asked changing the subject. Mat quickly sent her a grateful look.

Their Uncle chuckled, "It is in downtown LA and yes it is likely that there will be some celebrities there , if fact we are meeting a music group that appeared on Hard Copy today, they agreed to meet with the director for lunch when I mentioned that I knew some fans of theirs." Jenna and Mat stared at their uncle in horror.

"Who????" Jenna asked excitedly. "Ah ah. I'm not telling." Uncle Doug grinned at them. Jenna and Mat both grabbed for their backpacks and frantically dug through them. Their Aunt and Uncle watched in bemusement as their niece and nephew started to frantically comb their hair. Jenna started to reapply lipstick as Mat wished desperately for the hair gel that was in his suitcase.

Finally they both sat back. "Are you two crazy? They are just regular people." Their Uncle said as he negotiated through the busy streets of LA.

"We know Uncle Doug, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't look our best. Actually we would have done that on the train before we saw you guys but we slept most of the way here and didn't get the chance to primp. We hate to be seen at less than our best, we're almost fanatical about it." Jenna said and Mat nodded his agreement.

"Please tell us who we are gonna meet, Uncle Doug. We will love you forever if you do." Mat pleaded. Uncle Doug chuckled,

"I'm your uncle you have to love me forever, its in my contract." Mat sighed and sat back in disgust, "Dang. Will you tell us if we guess right?" He asked perking up.

"Nope. We're there." Uncle Doug said as he parked the car. Mat got out feeling like once he stepped in that restaurant he would never be the same.

Jenna looked over at him "Do you feel the same way I do about this that I do?" She asked as they walked to the entrance that was surrounded by prepubescent girls. He nodded but stayed silent.

They quickly followed their aunt and uncle inside and watched while Uncle Doug conversed briefly with the head waiter. He nodded at the rest of them and motioned for them to follow him.

As they followed the waiter Mat felt his stomach tense up and the feeling of being lead towards his fate strengthened. When the waiter stopped and he felt Jenna tense beside him looked at the people they were going to dine with. And his eyes locked with a pair of deep blue eyes that seemed to look right to his soul.

"Mat, Jenna....I'd like you to meet the Backstreet Boys."

Now the dreaded words : To Be Continued.

This is my first attempt at a story like this and almost any e-mail would be appreciated. Sorry that this first part is so short and has no sex. It would be rather difficult for them to have sex considering that they just met. But anyway, comments, criticism and kudos are welcome at skyfire12@netscape.net Flames will be ignored.
