Gay

I have written some other stories, found in the College section, "Colins-Story" and "Chris-Crossed". They are fiction. Some of this story may seem familiar. There is good reason, as my other stories are based on my experience and my fantasy. Here is the true story of my first gay lover.

No sex here, so if that is what you are looking for, don't waste your time here.

Adam-1

The following is a true story. The names have all been changed, but those involved would recognize their parts.(I [Steve] am Travis) I don't really know why I'm writing it, other than I just have no one to share with, and feel the need to tell it. Maybe it will help someone someday.

1

It was a beautiful morning. He knew this by the way that the sun was warming up his window shade - even with his eyes closed. Very likely there had been a gorgeous sunrise. And it wasn't that he didn't appreciate such things. Even as a youth, Adam was a man of the nineties -- or a boy. He woke up grudgingly, upon hearing his step-dad rap on his door. Couldn't they let him sleep in - even this morning, exactly 18 years after he was born?

He was dreaming. Dreams of his dad had been a very recurrent thing recently. This wasn't his biological dad. It used to be someone in his imagination - a cross between his basketball coach and superman. That was before -- RAP -- RAP -- RAP!

This time the knocking was accompanied by a not so gentle reminder that, "we are going to Edie and Travis's house this morning". With that he was up in about half a second and into the shower. It didn't take long since all he ever wore to bed was his underwear. It was a sign of "machismo" to sleep shirtless, no matter what the weather was like. Most mornings he found himself deep under the covers, somewhat to his chagrin.

In less than five minutes, he was dressed, his shock of long sandy hair combed, and his three or four whiskers whisked away by his razor.

His mom had his favorite breakfast of French toast, scrambled eggs, and hot chocolate ready, as he approached the kitchen. She was always talented that way. It never occurred to him that his being the youngest of five children somehow made it easy for his mom to do these things for him.

He remembered the last time they went to Edie and Travis's house. At least he wasn't awakened before his biological clock said it was time. It was several months ago, before Adam's mom, Penny, had married Wayne. Penny announced that they (that included Adam, to his dismay) were going to visit Wayne's sister and her husband, up in the foothills of the Sierra. ("Groan!") He would have to be cramped up in Wayne's little Japanese mini-car for an hour. But his mom would take no refusal this time. That worried Adam. He was afraid that she was going to marry Wayne, and this was one more clue -- meeting the family. Penny had said she already met them and thought Adam would like them. ("Right!").

Just getting all of Adam's 6'-4", 165 lb. body into that little go-cart that Wayne called a car was a job. And to have to remain there for an hour was cruel and unusual punishment! Well, at least it had 4 doors -- and air conditioning! Adam almost wished it didn't. That might have been reason enough to let him stay home.

It was a nice enough day, but it was a very long hour. When they wheeled the little car off the road Adam thought, "Where's the house? Oh, no. You mean even the driveway is long? About that time they approached a circular drive, which led up to a large, two story ranch house. But Adam didn't notice.

There inside the circle was his dad -- or his dream-dad. He looked like Superman -- or rather Clark Kent with those glasses. Dark hair -- longish -- chiseled features. All of a sudden all of Adam's resentment turned to shyness. He somehow was able to slide lower down in the seat, as if that would prevent anyone from noticing his gawking.

About that time Edie, Wayne's sister, came out of the house. They all got out of the car. Adam was very self-conscious as he wormed his way out from the back seat. As tall as he was, he never went through that awkward stage most teen boys did -- especially tall teens. He was always very athletic, and prided himself on being good at most of the competition sports in school. Now he felt like he was all arms and legs. Had he remembered to comb his hair. If he did, was it still halfway presentable? Oh yeah, my hat. Way too quickly he removed it.

If any of this was noticeable to the others, they didn't show it. They were all laughing and hugging each other. This was very foreign to Adam. But his mom had said that Wayne, his sister, and her husband had been to one of those "Huggy-feely self realization" seminars, as she herself had after Adam's dad had left. It all seemed so silly to Adam the first time he heard about it -- especially the hugging part. So why was he feeling so left out?

They had a nice enough visit. It went by too fast. Adam couldn't take his eyes off of Travis, and he was really worried that someone would notice. Well, if they did, they were polite enough to not show it in any way. As it was time to leave, there were hugs around again -- except for Adam. He could almost taste that hug, but Travis shook his hand.

That was six months ago. Adam now had a clear picture of his dream-dad, and he dreamed of him constantly, both sleeping and awake. He asked his mom if she knew how old Travis was. She said she was pretty sure he was 50. "Just right!" Adam thought. Then, three months ago, Wayne and Penny were married at a friend's house.

Adam was dressed in a tuxedo, and had polished himself to as bright a sheen as he could, in anticipation of seeing Travis again. He saw their car pull up onto the grassy makeshift parking area. He observed Travis get out, walk to the other side of the car to open Edie's door. He never saw his real dad do that for his mom. Well, to his credit, Wayne did. He really couldn't see many reasons why his mom wanted to marry Wayne. In Adam's eyes he was lame. Not in any physical way, but in the way that teen-agers had of classifying. At least they seemed very much in love.

As Travis disappeared behind the trees and approached the door, Adam's plan was to race to the door, first give Edie a hug, and then to hug his dream-dad. His bones ached for it. Then the doorbell rang. Adam was frozen in his tracks! His whole back ached at once. He wanted to puke. It seemed all at once too hot and too cold.

Someone else opened the door. They came in and headed for the patio, but Adam was in the way. "God, can they see this cold sweat?" As they got nearer, Adam could see that Travis had a five-o'clock shadow. He barely noticed the stirring that this gave his insides. Travis extended his hand.

Frozen for a moment, Adam's hand suddenly jerked up, and it was surrounded by both of Travis's hands, as Travis said, "Hiya, good-lookin'!" and pumped his hand. As he tried to respond, his lips stuck together. What came out sounded something like, "Mrff". He could feel his ears heating up as he knew his face was turning beet red.

"HA! I hate it when that happens!" Travis said to break the tension. Then Travis and Edie moved out to the patio. There was music playing, and Travis immediately took Edie in his arms and they glided around the deck.

Again Adam felt left out. "Omiosh, I sure as heck can't dance with Travis!" But what was this feeling -- almost a feeling of resentment - that they were dancing so closely.

Adam again reflected how good this dream-dad looked with a bit of stubble covering his lower face. A hungry feeling swept through his torso.

As the festivities grew to an end, Travis and Edie were in the process of leaving. "In the process" meant they were hugging everyone in sight -- or so it seemed to Adam -- everyone, that is, but him. The good ol' hand shake again! "He called me `good lookin', didn't he? Probably just the tuxedo thing and all".

That was three months ago, and now they were heading up to the foothills again. But this time Adam was eager to go. It freaked him out when his mom had said, "You sure are excited to go this time. What's up?"

He mumbled something, then tried to keep his excitement to himself. If the ride seemed long last time, it seemed even longer today. As they pulled into the driveway and onto the circle drive, Adam was disappointed that Travis was not there. "Well, I can't expect him to live in the front yard" he thought.

As they were entering the house -- hugs again. "Are hugs only for adults?" Adam thought. "I like the feel of his hands, but -- ". After supper Adam headed for the big hammock beneath the trees in the upper front yard. He wanted to think and dream, and that's exactly what he was doing when Travis, all alone, approached him.

"Mind if I join you?"

"Help yourself." Adam thought Travis meant, "Would you mind some company?" Of course that's what he was dreaming about. He didn't even dare to let himself dream of what happened next. Travis climbed into the hammock right next to him. His warmth on this autumn evening was almost intoxicating. And that beard! It was all that Adam could do to keep himself from reaching out and feeling it. And he smelled -- well, like it was the end of the day, and there was just a hint of whatever aftershave was left. Anyway, that too was intoxicating.

Travis asked all kinds of questions: "Do you like sports? (Yes -- love them) Do you go to church? (Sometimes[I wonder if he wants me to]) When did you graduate? (Not until next June.)" By the time they got up, Adam had been brave enough to ask Travis to come to one of his football games. "I'd love that! Just let me know when."

Soon after that they had to leave. It was Saturday, and Adam was wishing there was some reason to stay the night, but nothing presented itself -- at least anything reasonable. The warm handshake didn't seem enough after the hammock.

Notes: This is the only "notes" I will post. it will always be the same. Please feel welcome to write if you want to comment. Please put "Adam" in the subject area. Thanks. I am Steve. s4d@hotmail.com
