Chapter 26

"Thank you Mr. President."

"Is there anything else Commander or are we finished here?"

"Well Mr. President I have still not figured out what I am going to do with all these young men and women. I have been told of an Island in the Bermuda Chain that was a US Navy anti-submarine base during World War Two. I have also been told it is still on the Navy Books. It's called NAS Gilbert. I would like to lease it from the NorAm Navy."

"Admiral?"

"Sorry Sir. I've never heard of it. How about you Starky?"

"No Sir."

"Well Gentlemen I suggest you find out about it and have it transferred to the International Security Command. Before weeks end."

"Yes Mr. President."

"Anything else Commander?"

"No Mr. President. You have given me more than I expected or have the right to ask for."

"Your leaving something out Commander." The President smiled.

"I'm not sure I understand Sir."

"Bor-Dango."

"Sir I don't honestly know what to do about that Island."

"I do. Believe me Commander, I know all about Bor-Dango. I want to stop the illegal drugs coming into this country and the biggest culprit is Bor-Dango."

"Mr. President it is also one of the places using slave labor. Benji has been there. Someone special is, if he is still alive, on that Island."

"Commander. We, meaning the NorAm armed Forces will deal with Bor-Dango sooner rather than later. Good Luck Commander."

The president got up and left.

"Jesus Christ. You sure know how to get his dander up." Starky laughed.

"Thanks Starky. I really owe you one on this."

I handed Starky two thick files. One was on NAS Gilbert, the other about Bor-Dango. He handed the Bor-Dango file back.

"Keep it Brin. The file I've seen on that Island is twice as thick as this one. I don't think there is anything we don't know."

"Well this one was compiled by the Brits. Using Bor-Dango as a training exercise. They might just have seen and recorded things you don't have. Don't sell the SBS and the SAS short."

"Your right Brin. And I don't sell them short. They are some of the best commando's in the world."

"Can you get my car Starky. I need to get going."

"Yeah you have a lot to do in four days."

Starky showed us up to the west entrance. We shook hands. He shook Benji's hand too and then we were in the Air Force car heading back to Andrews. As soon as we were there we boarded and taxied out.

The speaker from the cockpit was still on.

"ISC 01 at hanger 103 for taxi instructions."

"01 you are cleared to taxi to runway 24 on taxi way 24 left A."

"01 Roger 24 left A."

Benji looked out the window.

"Brin there's a whole line up of aircraft to our right."

"Air Force 26 Bravo at 24 Left threshold."

"26 Bravo hold for Priority Traffic."

"26 Bravo."

"01 approaching 24."

"ISC 01 you are cleared for immediate take off on runway 24. Safe Journey 01."

"01 Roger and thank you."

"01 Rolling."

Thirty seconds later we were in the air and climbing for altitude.

"Where to Commander?" My pilot asked.

I looked at Benji. He was looking at me.

"Take us home John. Take us home."

"Yes Sir."

"Home!" Benji said.

"Yes Love Home. Our Home."

He was in my arms in a flash. Crying and kissing me and hugging me.

He then just snuggled up close and held me.

"Helicopter Sir."

"No John ground transport please. No use waking the neighbors. They hate me enough already."

Having a police escort on busy afternoons and helicopters landing in the wee hours of the morning didn't help me get along with my rich neighbors. I think they were just jealous. The trip to Edmonton from Washington was just over an hour at 3000 mph. It seemed like we just get to altitude and were starting the glide down. After we were down the aircraft taxied into the ISC hanger and shut down. A long black Limo was waiting, along with several escort vehicles.

"Welcome home Commander."

"Thanks Dale. But its only a short stopover. Have to be in South Africa day after tomorrow."

"Well it's still good to see you Sir. How are you Benji?"

"I'm fine Sir."

"Actually its me that calls you Sir. You can call me Dale Please."

"Only if you continue to call me Benji."

"It would be an honor Benji."

"Any thing I should be made aware of Dale?"

"Sudan made a raid into Burundi City yesterday evening. They destroyed a C-17 on the ground and shot up the MUST unit and Mess Tents. Four boys in the mess tent died and three Loyal Eddies were injured. If they had attacked a hour later or earlier none of the men would have been in armor and it might have been a different story. There were about 30 wounded. None of the raiders survived.

"Damn."

"Now take us home please. And fuck my neighbors."

We got in the Limo and sped away from the airport. A car in front and one behind. Red and blue lights flashing and sirens wailing. Well at least they'll all know I'm back. The trip took all of 30 minutes. When we arrived Chen was waiting.

"Welcome Home Sir."

"Hello Chen, how are you?"

"Fine Sir. And how is young Benji?"

"I'm fine thank you Chen."

Two security guards unloaded our bags and took them in and up to my room. As Benji made to walk in I stopped him.

"What Brin?"

"Benji this was my home. Now it is our home."

I picked him up in my arms and carried him into the house.

"Welcome to our home Benji."

He wrapped his arms around my neck and kissed me. Tears were running down his face and they were mixing with mine. God how I loved him. I didn't even set him down just walked up to our room. I set him down by our bed.

I looked at the clock by my bed. Fuck. Three AM. Plus jet lag. And I knew Benji would want to play for a while, well hell so did I. I picked up the phone.

"Yes Sir."

"Eight AM wake up please."

"Yes Sir. Have a nice night Sir."

Actually I was wrong. Benji just wanted to cuddle. Even though I would love to have him fuck my brains out, we just stripped and then spooned together. And went to sleep.

I came fully awake, but not refreshed when my phone rang.

"Eight AM Sir."

"Thank you." and hung up.

"Come on my love time to get moving. Full Dress Uniform today."

"I just want to sleep Brin."

After getting up ordering breakfast and then showering we both started to dress. Chen arrived with breakfast and the latest newspapers. After putting our pants on we sat down to eat. I perused the news papers. The head line on one was interesting.

WHERE IS COMMANDER SADAC

"Reports state that Commander Sadac and Benjamin Sadac left Washington last night and simply disappeared."

The story went on to speculate where I was and what I was doing. No Mention was made of Burundi or Sudan. Surely they knew I had both Security troops and combat troops in Burundi. Some one was suppressing the story. I wondered who.

I handed the paper to Benji.

"Well there going to know pretty quick aren't they love?"

"Yup." Pretty damn quick."

I picked up the phone.

"Yes Sir."

"How's the traffic look this morning Dale?"

"Wall to wall Sir. Usual Monday morning rush hour."

"Better lay on an escort. Don't have much time today and a lot to do in a few short hours.

After breakfast we finished dressing. Benji picked up his beret.

"Not today love. Forage caps today."

I picked his up and showed him how to put it on right. The two fingers along the nose to bring the brim down straight and level. I always thought I looked like a WW 2 German Officer in a forage cap.

We walked out the door to our room and down the stairs. Dale was waiting.

"Everything ready when you are Sir."

We climbed into an armored Humvee. Out the gate and with full police escort headed for ISC Headquarters. The trip took longer than usual due to the high volume of Traffic this late on a Monday. I normally traveled to my office before seven. I stopped my driver before we entered the underground garage. Causing a bigger traffic jam. There were about a hundred reporters waiting by my underground entrance. Well they knew where I was now.

I stepped out of my Vehicle.

I was met by the din of a hundred different questions, plus the honking horns of a shit load of pissed off citizens trying to get to work. The avenue was now totally blocked.

I raised my hands.

Surprisingly the din subsided, even the cars stopped honking.

"I'll answer a few questions at this time gentlemen. But be forewarned ask me about any where I have security personal or Combat troops working I will refuse to answer."

"Commander Why are you home? Sorry Sir I relies this is your home. What I meant was why did you come back at this time?"

"Because my love wanted to."

"Where are you heading next Commander?"

"Darfur."

"That would have to do with your UN Contract."

"Yes."

"We all know that NorAm is in a state of war against Sudan. Does your travels to Darfur have anything to do with that?"

"No actually I'm going to see the transfer of the 1st ISC Division to control from the African Defense Force."

"Well Sir, do you think Sudan will now be worried that there is an armored division on their western border and another on their southern,"

"I hope so,"

"Why are the flags here all at half staff Commander?"

"Because some of my family died."

"Can you tell us how Commander?"

"Not now."

"Sorry gentlemen I have a lot of work to do today."

I turned and walked down the ramp to the garage. Walked to the elevator and after Benji was in punched the penthouse key. Whoops forgot to run my thumb print. Tried again. Fuck it still didn't work.

"Benji put your thumb on the keypad."

Benji put his thumb on the reader and the elevator started up. What was going on. Must be a glitch in the system. When the door opened we were confronted by two Security people I didn't know.

"Identification."

Both Benji and I produced our Intersec ID cards.

"Thank you Commanders."

I walked over to my secretaries desk.

"Irene. What's the hells wrong with the elevator. It wouldn't accept my thumb print. And where are my usual Security People?"

"Most Commander are overseas. The headquarters has been almost stripped of Combat trained security officers. As to the elevator we are in the process of upgrading all systems."

"Thank Irene."

"Your welcome Commander and welcome home."

"Can you access the Education Equivalency tests for applicants?"

"Yes Commander."

"Good. I want you administer one to Benji. I need to know how far he is educationally."

"Do you know how to use a computer Benji?"

"Yes Mame."

"Good come with me."

Benji looked at me.

"Go ahead Benji. She doesn't bite. It's just a test of your education standards. Takes about a hour. When your done come to my office."

"Okay Brin." And he walked off with Irene.

I walked into my office and sat down. First things first. Super Seven. I picked up the telephone and had myself connected with IBM in Houston.

"Good Morning IBM."

"Brin Sadac of Intersec for Sandy Devine."

"One Moment Sir."

"Hello Brin. What can I do for you today?"

"I want to purchase or lease a Super Seven."

Sandy laughed out loud.

"Not a chance Brin."

"Why not!"

"Brin there are only two Super Sevens in the whole world. NSA has one. The other is installed here at IBM head Office. It was developed for the NSA and is really just an upgraded Super Five."

"So where does that leave me?"

"Well Brin we could lease you space on our Super Seven. Were presently using about 10% of its capacity. Would cost you about $100,000.00 dollars a year."

"So how much space would we get?"

"Really as much as you need. Up to 1 trillion Giga bites."

"Jesus that sound like a lot."

"Well think of it this way. Your Super four has about half that amount of space total."

"Well I don't know jack about computers. I'll have my R&D guy contact you and set it up."

"Sounds good. Have a nice day Commander." he hung up.

My day was going to be everything except nice.

I called John and told him of the set up I had put in motion. When I mentioned 1 trillion Giga bites he was ecstatic.

"Irene Connect me with Personal."

"Personal, Edward Swanson Sir."

"Eddy how many men in Training right now?"

"Sir. We have 160 men in Security Training. 123 in Combat Training. 26 in University, 12 in med school."

"What's the strength of the Ready Reaction Force?"

"Including Armor, 450 men."

"Eddy I want you to redesnignate the Ready Reaction Force as the Second Battalion Loyal Edmonton Regiment. All combat trainees will be transferred to it. How long until we can bring it to a full strength battalion?"

"Minimum three months Sir. But they would still have to go through the Battle School. So given that maybe six months Sir if we push it."

"And Officers?"

"Sir I would like to rotate officers out of the first battalion to be officers in the second. That way we would have combat trained officers in the second."

"Make it happen."

I hung up.

"Irene how's Benji doing?"

"He just finished Commander."

"How did he do?"

"Well. I would say his educational level is about grade 11. He's very good in math and English. But really bad in Science and history. His spelling is good. But I think with a few good courses in History, Science and higher math he could write for a GED."

"Thanks Irene. Send him in when your done."

Benji walked in with his head down. I could tell he was really upset with his score.

"Come here love."

"I'm sorry Brin I really tried. But the questions were so hard." Tears were running down his face.

"Benji it doesn't matter to me. I still love you."

I pulled him into my arms and just held him. He really was upset and crying.

"Benji. I only had you take the test so I could find out what school grade we could start you in. Now I know."

"Now lets forget it. What would you like for lunch?"

"You!"

I looked at the clock on my desk. 11:00.

"Irene I'm not to be disturbed for anything short of nuclear war."

"Yes Commander."

"Benji we have 90 minutes. I want you to go into my suite and undress. Remember you have to put your uniform back on in 90 minutes. So be careful. The only way your going to have me is if I have you first, anyway you want it love."

He kissed me on the nose and then ran into my inner sanctum. After I undressed in my office I walked into my suite. For the next 90 minutes it was a total suck and fuck session that I wished would go on all day and all night. After ninety minutes of total abandonment we redressed. I picked up my phone.

"Irene we'll be doing a full inspection this afternoon. Are you free?"

"Yes Commander."

"Okay we'll be out in five minutes."

Mean while.

"Good afternoon Sir. Chief of Naval Operations Office."

"Yes Sir. One moment I'll connect you.

"Admiral Starkley Sir."

"No Sir not yet.".....

"Today Sir, its almost 16:00. Sir." ....

"Yes Sir." ....

"Ah Sir. I don't have any control over them." ......

"Yes Sir."......

"You have a good day too Sir."

"Dorothy connect me with Base Operations please.

"Base Operations. Commander Simpson Sir."

"Commander Simpson what is happening with the orders to transfer NAS Gilbert to the International Security Command?"

"Well Nothing at the moment Sir."

"Why not?"

"Well Sir we haven't received the lease agreement from Intersec and no one has agreed yet on the price."

"There will be no lease agreement and there is no price to decide on. NAS Gilbert is to transferred to Intersec, lock, stock and barrel. No charge."

"Very Well Sir, I can have it on your desk by 12:00 hrs tomorrow."

"You will have it on my desk in twenty minutes."

"Sir it's after 16:00. All my staff have left already."

"Then type it up yourself. Or I will guarantee you one thing Commander. You will retire in that office."

"Twenty minutes Sir."

"We have another problem Starky."

"I'm sorry Sir. I didn't here you come in."

"Relax Starkey."

"I'm presuming this all has to do with a talk with the man?"

"Yes Sir."

"The other problem is Bor-Dango."

"Sir?"

"He wants it removed."

"I'm not sure I understand Sir."

"He said to me."

"Admiral, It is very clear to me that Bor-Dango presents a very clear danger to NorAm and the rest of the world."

"But he did say the words."

"Yes."

"Well I guess that puts it in CENT COM hands, doesn't it?"

The reality in NorAm now is that there are only three Commands. Pacific Command in Hawaii. European Command in Brussels. And Central Command in NorAm. Anything that happens in the Pacific, Indian Oceans is their concern of Pacific Command. In Europe it is European Commands problem. All the other areas of Earth are covered by Central Command.

"Yah I guess it does Starky. I'll notify General Stuart."

"So where do you figure you will find Admiral Chambers at this time of

day?"

"The golf course. Sir."

"Well the President has pissed off enough people today, why not one more. Good luck Starky."

"I'm only here to serve Sir."

"Don't sell your self short Starky. You're the best CNO I have ever had to deal with.

"Thank you Sir."

"Dorothy can you connect me with the SEABEE Headquarters in Savannah please."

"Their waiting on line two now Sir."

"What do you do read my mind?"

"Naval Construction Sir."

"I want to speak to Admiral Chambers."

"I believe he is on the golf course Sir."

"I didn't ask you where he was. I want to speak to him now."

"It will take a few minutes Sir."

"I'll wait."

Several minutes later.

"Admiral Chambers. This better be important."

"Admiral Chambers. This is Admiral Starkley. By Presidential Order you will activate as many battalions as may be required to activate NAS Gilbert and bring up to full active status. Including temporary quarters, mess facilities, MUST facilities, and the port and airfield."

The quarters are to be able to accommodate up to 10,000 people. Both male and female. This is Priority One."

"Could you at least tell me where this NAS Gilbert is Admiral."

"Actually I don't know exactly, but I know it is some where around

Bermuda."

"There's a lot of Islands in the Bermuda Chain Sir."

"I'm sure some one on your staff can find it for you."

"I'll get right on it first thing in the morning Admiral."

"No Admiral Chambers. You get right on it now. The base needs to up and running ASAP. As in yesterday. Written orders will arrive today by courier. I expect to hear your Battalions are enroute by tomorrow."

"Jesus Christ. Yes Sir."

Well now that I have pissed off another Admiral who else can I do it too.

A light tap at my door.

"Enter."

"Well how did he take it Starky?"

"Not very well. I think he must have been having a good game." I laughed.

"I ordered General Stuart to put a security force on the island. He told me it would be in place by 0600 hrs tomorrow. Didn't even ask where it was, even though I couldn't have told him if he asked."

"Well anything else I need to do Sir."

"All this movement of ships and men is going to really peak the interest of the news nets. Any idea how to handle them."

"Fleet Readiness Exercises Sir."

"Might work. You have a good day Starky. I'm going home to put my feet up. It's going to a bitch around here tomorrow."

"Good afternoon Sir."

"Well Benji. What do you think of my company now?"

"Brin I don't know how you think I could run all this. You have so many people doing different things all the time. I can't do what you want. I just want you."

"You'll learn Benji that I couldn't run this company without all these people. Their the ones that keep it running. All I am is the Figure Head. They don't really need me."

"That's not the way it looked to me Brin."

"Looks can be deceiving Benji. Sure I own it. Everything. But I don't run it. I couldn't. Benji there are almost 300,000 people working for Intersec. No one man can control all that. It takes team work, team work from a thousands of people. I can order something, but its these people that make sure that I can do what I order."

"And Benji I pay them very well. Probably more than I should."

"I think Brin their worth every penny."

"Yah. Your probably right love. Now let me show you my city, no our city."
