The following is fiction. Any resemblance to real people, places or events is coincidental. This story takes place in a different universe to our own where STDs do not exist, laws are different, and other aspects of our reality are different as well.

This is a slow moving romance story in many parts. If you are looking for a quickie, this isn't it.

Bonds of Happiness - Chapter 1 by Sam

The world as we know it is ending. Ok, maybe a little dramatic, but it sure as heck feels like it. We are in the grips of what they call a pandemic. Seems like a plague to me. Coronavirus, or COVID as it is officially called, is spreading like wildfire and killing millions of people. They say it was released by the Chinese, but I don't know that for sure. It isn't just in China, it is everywhere. Our governor has declared a state of emergency and closed everywhere large groups of people gather. He also said for everyone to stay home unless they had to leave. Also we are required to wear face masks if out in public.

So there is the background on why the world has ended. Story over.

Ok fine. Story not over. But this background will help you understand why what has happened is so amazing. So here we go.

Because of COVID, my job is so much better. I work for a call center and since we can't be around each other in the center without having on masks, and since nobody can understand a word you say with a mask on, they gave everyone a computer and told us to work from home. So now instead of having to drive half an hour to get to work, I just have to walk to my desk in my living room. True, I am starting to miss the face to face human interaction, but I get to work in my underwear. (I swear, I'm in my underwear. I wouldn't answer your phone call naked. I promise.)

I do have to leave my house every now and then though. For one, I really start to miss seeing other people. For another, I need my lottery ticket. You may think that isn't a need, but for a chance to not ever have to work again, I need it. We are required to wear face masks outside. To be honest, I've been wearing them before it was required. Once I got to understand this COVID shit, I knew I didn't want it. Because of my size, if I got it, I wouldn't stand a chance to get cured before it killed me. Oh, you have no idea what I look like so that probably doesn't make sense. Sorry. Let me introduce myself.

My name is Sam. I'm 5 feet 4 inches (162 cm) tall. I have blond hair, blue eyes and a bubble butt that used to keep my boyfriends happy. So as you can see, COVID would take me faster than a normal sized adult. So when I found out about this stuff I bought a large box of disposable face masks. When I found some reusable cloth face masks on Amazon I bought them. I like the cloth ones because they don't hurt my ears as much.

As for the boyfriends, well, my last one dumped me right as COVID was starting. And because they closed pretty much everywhere, I haven't found a new one. But that is ok because how do you date now without being close to the other person? Do you have to wear a face mask when you fuck? Well, I'll be fine for awhile. I have a hand.

So it is Saturday. I'm getting ready to make my way to the convenience store to buy my lottery ticket for the drawing tonight. I put on my face mask then head out. When I get there I spot a homeless guy sitting against the side of the store. This isn't unusual. COVID has closed a lot of businesses and with people out of work they can't pay their rent and are put on the streets. It is sad, but there isn't much I can do about it. I do try to give a little money when I see them. I'm not rich, or I'm not now, but maybe after the drawing tonight, but I have a job so I try to give what I can. I looked this guy over. He seemed younger than the normal homeless people I've seen.

He had brown hair and eyes. He was wearing a disposable face mask that looked like it should have been disposed of last week. I understand. He has to wear a mask but he doesn't have money to spend on them. I still had the box of masks in my car. I grabbed one and went up to him. I held out my hand with the mask. He took it from me and thanked me. He removed his old mask and I got a brief glimpse of his face. He had some stubble like he hadn't shaved in a couple of days. I guess it is hard to shave on the streets. He looked to be late teens, maybe twenty.

After he put the new mask on I sat down to chat with him. I really needed human interaction. His name is David and he is 18. I asked him why he was homeless. Probably not a nice thing to ask someone, but he is homeless and I was curious. He told me that right after he graduated high school his mom caught COVID and passed away. She didn't have life insurance and he used most of what she had in her savings to pay for the funeral. He applied for jobs but because of COVID, no one was hiring and he ran out of money and got kicked out of his home.

He asked about me. I told him I was 22 and worked for a call center. I asked him where he stayed. He said if he got there early enough he could stay in the shelter on Grant. But it fills up fast now because they have to limit the number of people in it. But during the day the store here lets him stay out front as long as he doesn't bother anyone. I guess that is something, he doesn't have to wander about all the time.

It was lunchtime and this store had a little food service place in it that made burgers so I asked David if he wanted one. He said he did, but wasn't allowed in the store. I said no problem and asked what he wanted. I then went in and ordered for both of us. When it was ready I bought my lottery ticket too then went out front to have lunch with David. We had to remove our masks to eat, but that was allowed. We talked a bit more while we ate. He told me about his past relationships and I told him about some of mine. Really it felt good to talk to a real person after so many months of only talking to people on a phone. After we ate we put our masks back on. I told David I had to go, I had housework to do. I gave him $20 so he could eat later then headed home.

When I got home I did my laundry and cleaned the house. When I was done I watched some TV until dinnertime. I made dinner and ate then watched TV until it was time to turn in. When I jacked off my mind wandered to David. I guess that makes sense, he is the first person I've interacted with in a long time. But he is straight so it would never happen in real life. After I cleaned up I went to sleep.

During the week I worked at my job from home answering phones nak... in my underwear. On Wednesday after work I headed out to get my lottery ticket for the night because for some reason on Saturday they failed to draw my numbers. I got to the store and David wasn't here. It is late so he probably is in the shelter by now. I got my ticket and headed home. I had some dinner before watching TV and going to bed.

On Saturday I head over to the store to get my ticket. I don't know why the lottery people can't get it together and draw my numbers. It isn't like I'm hiding them. They are right here on my ticket, so draw them already so I can stop having to work. Anyway, I pull up to the store and David is out front. He seems to have on the same mask I gave him last week. So I pull another mask out of the box and head over to him. I hand him a new mask and he thanks me as he takes it. After he has switched masks I ask what he would like to eat. I then go inside and order our lunch. When it is ready I get my ticket too then head out front and sit down with David so we can eat lunch. We chat about our week. He says he managed to get into the shelter every night so that is good. After we finish eating we put our masks back on and I give him $20 so he can eat later then head home to start on my chores. That night I jack off thinking of him again. He is straight but that doesn't seem to matter to my dick. I get cleaned up and go to sleep.

Again I spend the week working from home. Not being able to leave the house much, not that there is anywhere to go as most places for fun are closed, makes the week uninteresting. On Wednesday I go to the store after work to get my ticket. David isn't here but is probably at the shelter. After I have my ticket I head home then have dinner before watching some TV and going to bed.

On Saturday I head to the store for my ticket. I swear the lottery people will someday get their act together and draw my numbers. David was outside the store so I grabbed a fresh mask and went over to him. I handed him a mask and asked if he wanted the usual. He did so I went in and ordered our lunch and when it was ready got my ticket too and went out front to eat with David. We chatted while we ate then when we were done I gave him $20 and headed home. I did my chores before dinner then after dinner watched TV before turning in. I hope my dick gets over David. He has told me about his girlfriends so he is straight. I don't care how much you cum when I think about him, it isn't going to happen. After I cleaned up I went to sleep.

The week was uneventful. I only left my house on Wednesday after work to get my ticket. David wasn't there so he was in the shelter. I then came back home to eat and go to sleep.

On Saturday I went to get my ticket. This has become the highlight of my week. Getting to eat lunch with David outside the convenience store. He was there so I grabbed a fresh mask for him and headed over and gave it to him. While he put it on I went to order our lunch. When it was ready I paid for it and my ticket then went out front and sat down so we could eat. After we ate and talked about our weeks I got up and gave him some money then headed home to start on my chores. After dinner I abused myself thinking about the straight guy I could never get before going to sleep.

The week went on, answering the phones. I'm not complaining about my job. I'm lucky to have one. If we couldn't do this job from home I might be in the same boat as David. So I'm not complaining. But it isn't interesting, it is just work. And while I'm talking to people on the phone, I'm not chatting with them. I'm answering questions or dealing with problems. The only time I get to chat with someone is Saturday with David. So that is what I look forward to.

On Wednesday I head to the store after work to get my ticket. I'm surprised to find David there. He is usually at the shelter by now. But he is here so I take a new mask out of the box and take it to him.

"You aren't usually here when I come on Wednesday."

"Yeah. I got to the shelter late and they filled up so I couldn't get in. So I came back here."

"Oh. That sucks. Where are you going to sleep?"

"Here. Nobody will bother me. The night clerk is a good guy and keeps an eye out for me."

"Oh, well that is nice of them. Do you want the usual for dinner?"

"Yeah, that would be great. Thanks."

I went in and ordered our meals. When it was ready I got my ticket too then went out front to sit and eat with David. Right as I sat down the sky lit up and there was a loud clash of thunder. I looked up and a storm was definitely headed our way. And rapidly.

"Do you have anywhere dry to stay?"

"The bus station sometimes won't kick us out if it is raining."

"Sometimes? As in maybe they do or maybe they don't?"

"Yeah, but if not it is just rain and I'll get wet. It is no big deal."

"I know it is still technically summer, but you could get sick that way."

"I'll be ok Sam, don't worry."

Well, telling me to not worry is a sure-fire way to get me to worry. I didn't want him to get sick. Even if he didn't, being wet with no dry clothes is no fun.

"Do you have a lot of stuff?"

"Just my backpack. But it is ok Sam, you don't have to give me a lift. I can walk to the bus station."

"I'm not giving you a lift to the bus station David. I'm taking you home with me. So get your bag. We will eat there."

"You don't have to do that Sam."

"Stop arguing and come on."

We got in my car and I drove us to my house. When we got there I used the bottle of hand sanitizer I kept at my front door to clean my hands and gave some to David before removing my mask. You may be saying, 'why did you remove your mask with David there, he could have COVID and give it to you.' Well true, he has been on the streets and could have caught it. But I've spent hours with him over the past weeks and he hasn't coughed once. Plus I am not wearing a mask in my own house. They are not fun things to wear. So if he has it then I'm a goner, but it was a low risk at this point so I didn't worry about it. David also removed his mask. I then showed David to the bathroom.

"Do you have clean clothes?"

"No, I have another set but not clean."

"Ok give me those and take a shower. Just throw your dirty clothes out here and I'll wash them while you are getting clean. When you are done just wrap a towel around you and we'll eat."

"You don't have to do all of this for me."

"Come on, get in the shower and get cleaned up."

He went in and closed the door. A few minutes later he opened it a little and put his clothes in the hall before shutting it again. I took those and the one's from his bag and put them in the washer. They were cleaned and in the dryer before I heard David call my name from the bathroom.

"Sam, would it be ok if I used some of your shaving cream?"

"Of course." I noticed his razor was the same brand as mine. "There are more blades in the medicine cabinet if you want a fresh one for your razor."

"Oh, thanks Sam."

I went to the table and got our food and put it out. I had kept it warm in the oven while he got his shower. He came out in a towel and we sat down to eat. We could hear the thunder really hitting now. It has been a while since we got any real rain and it seems mother nature was making up for lost time. After we ate we watched some TV then it was time to turn in.

"I can sleep on the couch, Sam."

"This old thing? It is really uncomfortable to sleep on, I've tried it. I have a big bed with more than enough room for both of us."

I dragged him to the bedroom. He got on the opposite side of the bed and took off his towel. I started to undress but took him in while I did. He has brown hair and eyes and a really handsome face now that he shaved. He is tall, maybe a little over 6 feet (183 cm) tall. He isn't hairy but has some chest hair. And between his legs is a nice looking cock. I got naked and got in bed and told him to do the same. When we were under the covers I turned off the light and we drifted off to sleep listening to the storm outside.

To be continued...
