"A Dangerous Love"

Marcus woke up in his apartment with Thomas. Thomas was looking down at him laying in bed mesmerized.

"Morning." Thomas said gently

"Morning." Marcus replied

Thomas leaned in and kissed Marcus.

"Last night was great." Thomas said rubbing his hand across Marcus's chest.

"We going out tonight?" Marcus asked

"I was actually thinking maybe we spend the whole day together." Thomas suggested

"I wish I could but I have to go to work." Marcus replied

"Skip it." Thomas said simply

"I can't. I'm a lawyer, I have clients who need me." Marcus replied

"Come on." Thomas said kissing Marcus on the neck.

"Sorry babe. But we'll have all night together." Marcus said kissing Thomas on the forehead, "Besides, shouldn't you go to work too?"

"I can skip." Thomas said

"What do you do anyway?" Marcus asked realizing he doesn't even know what Thomas does.

Thomas was quiet for a minute. Then answered, "Accountant, I'm an accountant."

"Funny, we've been going out for three weeks now and I never knew what you did." Marcus said

"Really? I thought I told you." Thomas lied

"Well, I'm going to take a shower then get to work, feel free to stay here as long as you want." Marcus said as he headed into the bathroom.

As Marcus was in the shower, Thomas went into Marcus's closet and took a few clothes of his and then went to Marcus's dresser and took his cologne and sprayed it on the clothes so he could have Marcus's sent on them.

He then put them in his bag.

When Marcus came out of the bathroom he went to his closet and started looking through it.

"Funny." Marcus said to himself

"What?" Thomas asked worried

"I can't find my blue shirt." Marcus replied

Thomas looked into his bag and saw a blue button up dress shirt that he took from Marcus's closet.

"Maybe you left it somewhere." Thomas suggested

"No, I just got it from the dry cleaners yesturday." Marcus answered, "Damn, that was my favorite shirt too."

Thomas looked away and smiled, glad that he has Marcus's favorite shirt. Not wanting Marcus to think about it too much he went up to him and kissed him.

"I'm sure you'll find it." Thomas said. He then pulled out a red dress shirt, "Where this one."

Marcus smiled and kissed Thomas.

"Already picking out my clothes huh?" Marcus asked jokingly

"Of course." Thomas replied as Marcus started getting dressed.

"Hey tonight I was thinking that before we go out I have the guys come over so you can meet them." Marcus said

"Really?" Thomas asked

"Yea, I mean if you're all right with it." Marcus replied

"Sounds great." Thomas said, "I'm looking foward to it."

"Good." Marcus said kissing Thomas, "I'll see you tonight."

Marcus headed out to work leaving Thomas, not knowing that he's dealing with a bery dangerous person.

As Marcus was driving in his car he got on the phone with Randal.

"Hey Randal, tonight I want you and the guys to come over to meet Thomas." Marcus said

"Really?" Randal asked, "It's that serious huh?"

"I think so." Marcus replied

"I'm happy for you." Randal said, "What time?"

"Around six." Marcus said

"Okay, I'll call the others." Randal said

"Thanks, I'll see you guys tonight." Marcus said

"Bye." Randal replied hanging up.

Over at Kyle's place he woke up and got ready for work. As he headed out he got a call from Randal.

"What's going on?" Kyle asked

"Tonight Marcus wants us to go over to his place so we can all meet his new boyfriend." Randal replied

"Thomas?" Kyle asked

"Yea, him." Randal replied

"Wow, I guess things are really getting serious between them." Kyle said

"I know. It's good, I mean Marcus hasn't really had a boyfriend in a while." Randal replied

"Yea, I began to think he was going to be like us and sware off relationships." Kyle answered

"I never swore off relationships." Randal said, "I just have more fun hooking up."

"You know what I mean." Kyle said

"Well, anyway, he wants us to come over tonight." Randal replied

"Sounds good." Kyle said

"Although, I think you should know, David might be there." Randal replied

Kyle was hesitent to answer at first, but despite what is going on between them he really wants to see David again.

"I'll still be there." Kyle finally said

"Are you sure?" Randal asked

"Yea, I really want to see him." Kyle replied remembering what David did for him on his birthday.

"Okay, well I'll see you tonight." Randal said, "Be there at around 6."

"Cool, cool." Kyle replied, "I gotta get to work so I'll talk to you later."

"Bye." Randal said hanging up.

Kyle then left and went to work.

Randal then called up David, who was opening up his store.

"Hey David, Marcus wants us to meet his new boyfriend tonight." Randal said

"Cool, cool." David answered

"Wow, you and Kyle sound the exact same." Randal replied

"What do you mean?" David asked

"You both say 'cool, cool'." Randal answered

"Really?" David asked

"Yea you never noticed that?" Randal replied

"No, I guess I didn't." David said

"Well, anyway before you make any final decisions I should tell you that Kyle will be there." Randal replied

"Oh he is?" David asked unsure

"Yea, so if you don't want to go, it's all right." Randal replied

David was going to say no, but beyond his better judgement he wanted to be there.

"I'll still come." David said

"Really?" Randal asked suprised

"Yea." David answered

"What about you needing space from Kyle?" Randal asked

"I think it's time for me to just face him." David said, "I mean, I'm not over him, but I miss him as a friend too."

"I think he's excited to see you." Randal said

David just smiled to himself.

"All right well I'll see you tonight." David said

"Okay, be there at 6." Randal answered

"Cool cool." David replied hanging up.

David then went into the back room and sat in his desk. He really wants to see Kyle, but is nervous about it. Will Kyle really be happy to see him? Or will he be mad? David kept those questions running in his mind.

At work Kyle was very excited about tonight, mostly at the thought of seeing David again. Although he kind of expects David not to show up because he might not want to be around him. But Kyle just hoped and prayed he would be there.

At Tyler and Jake's apartment the two woke up in bed together again.

"Wow, how many times have we slept with each other in the past week?" Jake asked

"I don't know, five or six." Tyler replied

"Are you serious?" Jake asked shocked that they did that so much.

"You regretting it?" Tyler asked

"No, it's just suprising that the best sex I've had in a while is coming from one of my best friends." Jake replied

"Well, maybe that's why." Tyler said

"What do you mean?" Jake asked

"We're good friends, we both know what the other likes and doesn't like. Maybe that's why we're so good together." Tyler answered

"Do you think we should stop?" Jake asked

"Do you?" Tyler asked

"I don't know, I mean maybe it would be best before we start having feelings towards each other." Jake replied

"That's probably true." Tyler said

"Yea." Jake said softly

"Although, doesn't this some how feel right?" Tyler asked, "I mean it's been great hasn't it?"

"It has, but I don't want it hurting our friendship. I mean look at David and Kyle, those two don't even talk anymore." Jake said

"Because Kyle didn't take a chance at seeing how happy he could be with David. Maybe you and me can turn out to be a good thing." Tyler said

"We'd have to actually try going out on a date." Jake said, "We've only been having sex with each other, that's not a relationship."

"You're right." Tyler replied, "So, what do you say tonight we go out."

"Really?" Jake asked

"Yea, sure. You and me, our first date." Tyler replied

"All right." Jake answered leaning in as him and Tyler gently kissed. Things were about to get more hot between the two when the phone rang.

"Saved by the bell." Tyler said getting up to answer the phone.

As Tyler was on the phone Jake got up and put on his boxers. Tyler came back in the room.

"That was Randal. Marcus wants us to come over tonight to meet his new boyfriend." Tyler said

"Okay." Jake replied

"But afterwards, you and me will go out." Tyler said, "I'll make all the arrangements."

"We don't have to do anything fancy." Jake said

"I want to. I want this to go perfectly." Tyler said

Touched, Jake leaned in and kissed Tyler.

"I have to get to class." Jake said breaking the kiss.

"Okay, I'll see you later." Tyler replied

"Bye." Jake said as he headed to get ready for class.

Randal drove over to Marcus's house to get it cleaned up for Marcus since Marcus wouldn't get home from work until it was time for the guys to come over. He went in the house and noticed that there were a few things lying on the ground. Randal found that odd since he knew that Marcus wasn't that messy of a guy. When he went into Marcus's room he saw Thomas resting on the bed.

"Hi." Randal said akewardly as he walked in the room.

"Oh hey." Thomas said getting up, "My name's Thomas."

"Randal." he replied as he shook Thomas's hand.

"Nice to finally meet you." Thomas said kindly

"Have you been here all day?" Randal asked curious

"Yea, I didn't have work today." Thomas replied

"Oh, okay." Randal said finding it odd that Thomas would just stay here all day.

"So what's going on?" Thomas asked

"I just came over here to clean up a little since Marcus won't be back from work until around 5:30 and the guys are all coming over at 6." Randal said

"Oh okay." Thomas said

"Are those Marcus's clothes?" Randal asked noticing that Thomas was wearing Marcus's blue dress shirt.

"Yea, I just borrowed them since my clothes were dirty." Thomas replied

"All right." Randal said, "I'm just going to clean up a little."

Randal then headed out into the living room area. As he was cleaning he couldn't get over the feeling that something was not right with Thomas.

At work Marcus was busy finishing up some legal documents when Randal called him.

"Marcus did you know that Thomas is at your house?" Randal asked

"Are you there now?" Marcus asked

"Well, I was. I wanted to clean it up a little before the guys came over, but Thomas was there so I only cleaned up a little bit then left." Randal replied

"Thomas is still there?" Marcus asked, "I wonder why he didn't go to work."

"Are you sure you should be letting him stay at your house by himself?" Randal asked concerned, "You've only been seeing him for a few weeks."

"It's cool." Marcus said, "He's a good guy. Don't worry about it."

"I don't know, I just have a funny feeling about him." Randal said

"Why? You just met him." Marcus said defending Thomas

"I'm not saying he's a bad guy, it's just weird that he would stay at your house all day." Randal answered

"Thank you for the concern Randal, but really it's fine." Marcus replied

"You're probably right." Randal said, "I'll see you tonight."

"Thanks for the concern." Marcus said

"That's what friends are for." Randal replied, "I'll talk to you tonight."

"Bye." Marcus said as he hung up.

Later that day Randal was still unsure about Thomas so he went to Tyler to talk about it.

"So what do you think?" Randal asked

"It does seem kind of weird." Tyler replied

"Yea, that's what I thought." Randal said

"But, I don't know. Marcus is generally a good judge of character, maybe we're just looking into this too much." Tyler suggested

"You might be right, I don't know." Randal said still unable to let it go.

"Let's just give it a little bit of time and see how things go." Tyler said

"All right." Randal said giving in, "But I'm going to keep my eye on him just in case."

"Just make sure you don't piss of Marcus." Tyler said

"I know." Randal said, "So you got any plans after we Marcus's house?"

Tyler was thinking of keeping the date secret, but gave in, "Well you're going to find out sooner or later."

"Find out what?" Randal asked

"Jake and I are going on a date tonight." Tyler replied

"Whoa! What?" Randal asked completely suprised by that news.

"Yea, him and I are going to go out for a date." Tyler replied

"When did this happen?" Randal asked

"Um, well, it's kind of a funny story actually." Tyler began, "Him and I for the past couple months have been sort of sleeping with each other."

"A couple of months?!" Randal asked

"Yea." Tyler replied, "It's really not a big deal."

"Not a big deal?" Randal asked, "You and Tyler dating and sleeping together is not a big deal?"

"Is it?" Tyler asked

"Yes!" Randal replied, "This is big news, two friends from our group are dating."

"We're techincally not dating yet." Tyler said, "We're going out tonight."

"How come you guys felt you had to hide it?" Randal asked

"I don't know. We we're sure ourselves what was going on between us and with everything going on between David and Kyle right now, we didn't want to create more drama between the group." Tyler replied

"Seriously though, do you think this can go somewhere?" Randal asked

"We're going to find out." Tyler replied

Randal gave Tyler a hug, "I hope things work out for the two of you."

"Thanks." Tyler replied

"Where are you guys going?" Randal asked

"I'm going to take him to this real nice Chinese resteraunt and then take a walk together." Tyler said

"Very romantic." Randal comented

Randal then headed for the door, "I'm going to go get ready, I'll see you in a couple hours."

"Okay, bye." Tyler said, "Oh wait Randal."

"Yea?" Randal asked

"Please don't say anything about Jake and me until I talk to you about it tomorrow." Tyler said, "For all I know this date tonight might turn out to be a bad thing."

"All right." Randal said kindly, "I'll see you later."

"Bye." Tyler replied as Randal left.

Six o'clock Marcus, Thomas, Randal, Tyler, Jake, and Kyle were at Marcus's house. They all had met Thomas and all of them seemed to like him, the only people who were a little wary of him was Randal and Tyler. Kyle was the first to notice that David was late.

"David's not here yet." Kyle said, "Maybe he had second thoughts."

"He'll be here." Jake replied

"I don't know, he's ussually never late." Kyle pointed out

"Don't worry, he'll be here." Jake said

"I hope so." Kyle replied, "I really want to talk to him."

"What do you guys think of Thomas?" Marcus asked walking up to them.

"He's great." Jake said

"Yea, he's a real nice guy. I'm glad you found him." Kyle replied

"Thanks, he is really great." Marcus said

"So tell us a little about him." Jake said

"Well he's an accountant." Marcus said

"Impressive." Kyle said, "Have you met any of his friends?"

"No, actually it's funny he never really talks much about his friends." Marcus said

"Oh." Jake said

"Come to think of it, I really don't know much about him." Marcus said

"Well the relationship is new still." Jake said

"Yea, just give it time." Kyle replied

"Of course, yea you guys are right." Marcus said, he then looked up and saw David walk in, "David's here."

Kyle suddenly felt very nervous, his back was facing the front door so he didn't see David yet. Kyle turned around and saw David walk in, Marcus walked up to hand him a beer and introduce him to Thomas.

"I told you he'd come." Jake said

"I'm nervous." Kyle said, "I've never been nervous around David."

"Just settle down, it's just David. Your best friend." Jake pointed out

"You're right." Kyle said taking a deep breath.

David looked over at Kyle and walked over to him and Jake.

"Hey Jake." David said then turned to Kyle and smiled, "Hi Kyle."

"Hey." Kyle replied a bit nervously

"I'm going to go talk to Tyler." Jake said leaving Kyle and David alone.

"How are you?" David asked

"I'm good." Kyle replied, "You?"

"I'm all right." David answered

The two shared an akeward silence.

"It's really good to see you again." David said

"It's good seeing you too." Kyle replied, "I half expected you not to come once you found out I would be here."

"I wanted to be here." David said, "I wanted to see you."

David and Kyle slowly moved towards each other and hugged both very nervous and on edge, but immediately when they hugged they felt at ease again with each other.

"I actually was hoping we could talk." Kyle said

"Yea, me too." David replied

"Can we go for a walk so we can be alone?" Kyle asked

"Yea, come on." David replied as him and Kyle headed for the door.

"You guys leaving?" Marcus asked

"Together?" Randal pointed out

"We're just going to go for a walk, we'll be back." David said as him and Kyle headed out.

Marcus and Randal went into the kitchen for a few more beers.

"Sorry if I worried you today." Randal said

"About Thomas?" Marcus asked

"Yea, I mean I guess I was just a little thrown back when I saw Randal wearing your clothes and laying in your bed." Randal replied

"He was wearing my clothes?" Marcus asked

"Yea, your blue shirt." Randal replied

"That's weird." Marcus said, "I thought I lost that shirt. I was looking for it this morning, but Thomas told me to just wear something else."

"Maybe he found it later." Randal replied

"You're probably right." Marcus said waving it off.

Outside David and Kyle headed for a park near Marcus's house.

"So how's work going?" David asked

"Oh, you know, it's work." Kyle replied, "All I do is re-shelve toys and sell them."

"Yea." David said laughing a little

"How about you? How's the store?" Kyle asked

"It's going good." David replied, "We've been getting a little busier with the holidays coming up and all."

"Yea same." Kyle said

"Anything new happen lately?" David asked

"Not really." Kyle replied, "You?"

"Just work pretty much." David said

"Cool, cool." Kyle replied

David laughed a little.

"What?" Kyle asked

"Did you ever notice that both you and me say that?" David asked

"Say what?" Kyle replied

"Cool, cool." David said

"I don't say that." Kyle said

"Yea you do, you just said it." David pointed out laughing

"Really?" Kyle asked

"Yea, Randal pointed that out to me today. I never noticed that we both said it before right now." David replied

"Well, I mean you and I are so close we're bound to become alike in some ways." Kyle said smiling

"Yea." David replied

"I miss this." Kyle said

"Me too." David said

David and Kyle went silent again and walked together.

"Oh, thank you by the way." Kyle said

"For what?" David asked

"My birthday." Kyle replied, "I was shocked when Mr. Andrews said you paid for me to go riding."

"Oh, it's the least I could do for breaking tradition." David replied guiltily, "I'm sorry about that."

"Don't be. It's weird, even though you didn't come, I felt like you were there for some reason." Kyle said

"That's weird." David replied not wanting to tell Kyle that he was in fact there.

"Anyway, thank you. It meant a lot to me." Kyle said

"Anytime." David replied

Kyle was going to avoid asking, but couldn't help himself.

"David, are you here with me now because you're ready to start hanging out again or is this just a one night thing?" Kyle asked

"I don't know Kyle." David said, "I still feel a little strange around you at times."

"I understand." Kyle said, "David, I really need to just explain to you why I don't do relationships."

"You have." David replied, "You just don't like them."

"Yea, but I never told you what happened to make me not like them." Kyle said

"Kyle you don't have to." David said

"Yes, I do. Because I know on some level you think I'm turning you down because of you and that's not true." Kyle replied

Kyle and David sat down on a bench in the park.

"You and I know a lot about each other." Kyle began

"Yea, we know everything about each other." David replied

"That's not exactly true." Kyle said, "This happened before I met you. I was 16 and just accepted that I was gay. I used to be really into parties and I met this guy, he was 18 and in college. He was this stud you know? He was 6'3, dark hair, dark intense eyes. We got to talking and he was amazing, he was funny, sweet, everything. So we started dating and for the first six months things were perfect, I was in love with him. I would stay at his apartment almost every weekend, we went out every day. Then one Saturday he drank too much and he started taking drugs, and he hit me, nearly broke my jaw. So I left and didn't talk to him at all for like a week. But then I accepted one of his calls and he just apologized and said he would stop drinking and everything...Me being an idiot I believed him so went back to him and he didn't drink for about a month. Then he got back into the drugs and drinking and about a month later he hit me again. So I left, that was the last time I saw him...I started working out more in case he ever came to me I was going to be able to defend myself better. He kept calling me and calling me, then one night he called he sounded drunk and kept apologizing, but I told him to go to hell and he just said 'Okay.' The next thing I hear is a gun shot over the phone."

"Oh my God." David said softly

"Yea." Kyle replied, "From then on I swore off relationships. Because if I could give up on a great guy like him and let him ruin himself like that, then I shouldn't be with anyone. He really changed my life, he's the reason I work out now, he's the reason I don't like to party that much anymore, he's the reason my life is crap."

"It's not your fault." David said

"I've tried telling myself that, but it is. It is my fault." Kyle replied

"You can't let him ruin your chance for happiness." David said

"Too late." Kyle replied, "You know the worst part? If he was still alive today, I'd kill him myself for all he took away from me."

"Kyle listen to me. Just because you had that bad experience doesn't mean all your relationships will be like that." David said

"You're right, but at the same time I know something bad can happen." Kyle replied, "If we got together and something happened-"

"Who says something will happen?" David asked cutting Kyle off

"IF something happens, there's a good chance we won't talk to each other again. And not talking to you for a few weeks has been killing me. I couldn't take a life time of us not talking to each other." Kyle replied

"Kyle, why can't you just trust that I would never let anything happen to us." David said

"You can't make that kind of a promise." Kyle said

"Yes I can." David replied, "Because I know you and I know that we are perfect for each other. If you would just give it a chance you'd see it too."

"David, I'm too damaged to be handled for a relationship." Kyle said

"And yet I still believe that we can make it work. Doesn't that say something?" David asked

Kyle wasn't sure how to answer. David saw that now was his only chance, he leaned in slowly and kissed Kyle. Kyle at first was suprised but then accepted the kiss and wrapped his arms around David. Things were about to get more intense, but then Kyle's cell phone rang.

"Who is it?" David asked

Kyle checked the called ID, "It's Marcus." Kyle answered the phone, "What's going on Marcus?"

"You guys need to get over here now." Marcus whispered

"Why what is it?" Kyle asked

"It's Thomas, he's crazy." Marcus replied

"Aren't the other guys there?" Kyle asked

"No, they left about five minutes ago." Marcus replied, "You guys are the closest ones to me I need you both now!"

Marcus then hung up the phone.

"Oh my God." Kyle said getting up

"What is it?" David asked

"It's Marcus, we need to get over there now." Kyle said as the two ran back to Marcus's house.

At the house Marcus was in his room with the door locked.

"Open up Marcus!" Thomas shouted

"Get the hell out of here!" Marcus replied

"I can't do that." Thomas said, "I want you."

"Thomas you need help, just calm down." Marcus said

"I will once you open the door." Thomas said pounding the door.

"Marcus!" Kyle called out as he and David ran in the house. Thomas quickly hid in another bedroom. Kyle and David went to the bedroom and knocked on the door.

"Marcus it's us." David said

Marcus quickly opened the door to them and shut it quickly and locked it again.

"What's going on?" Kyle asked, he then noticed Marcus had a black eye.

"Thomas has flipped." Marcus replied, "I asked him about this blue shirt of mine I thought I lost and then he just went crazy said that I was accusing him of stealing and he punched me."

"What?" David asked, "Did you call the police?"

"I tried, but then Thomas cut the phone line." Marcus replied

"I'll call the cops." David said taking out his cell phone.

Then suddenly Thomas busted down the door holding the gun out to Marcus.

"I loved you." Thomas said

"Don't do this." Marcus said

Quickly Kyle dove and tackled Thomas causing him to throw his gun away from him. Kyle then grew with rage and started beating Thomas.

"You son-of-a-bitch!" Kyle shouted as he punched Thomas in the face.

Kyle then got up and started kicking Thomas in the stomach as he was lying on the floor. Marcus and David looked at Kyle not sure what to think. Thomas was clearly unconscious, but Kyle still kept beating him.

"Kyle you might kill him." David said trying to pull Kyle away.

"Good!" Kyle shouted

"Kyle!" David shouted then pulled Kyle away, "Calm down."

Kyle sat down on the ground and looked at Thomas, only it wasn't Thomas he saw, it was his old boyfriend, the boyfriend who hit him, the boyfriend who killed himself, the boyfriend who tainted his life.

Marcus got off of David's cell phone.

"The police are on their way." Marcus said, "Thanks you guys."

"I have to go." Kyle said getting up

"You can't, you need to stay as a witness." Marcus replied

"No, I can't be here right now." Kyle said heading for the door. David went after him.

"Kyle wait." David said, he went up to Kyle, "It's all right."

David leaned in to kiss him, but Kyle moved away.

"I can't." Kyle said

"What?" David asked

"I'm sorry David, but after seeing what just happened, it just reminded me that I can't be in a relationship with someone. I'm sorry." Kyle said sadly then quickly left.

David stood in the doorway, hurt, and watched Kyle leave.
