"I HATE ANTHONY"

By Maddy A.

CHAPTER TEN : GAME NIGHT PLAY

Anthony and Brian lay snuggled together on Brian's bed. The occasional kiss or nip at the other's mouth and roaming hand was as far as things went. Brian lay his head on top of Anthony's strong chest lost in his thoughts. The steadying of Anthony's breaths notified Brian that he was falling asleep. Anthony had taken Brian by surprise earlier that afternoon when he kissed him. Out of all the ways Brian thought that things could have went that day, beautiful wasn't one of them. He expected the worse, but received the best. Words were left unsaid between them for they weren`t necessary. After the first kiss there had been an understanding. Anthony understood that no matter what he did or how hard he tried, nothing would ever make his love for Brian go away. Brian understood that the years of torment had been out of fear and although it would take him some time to forget, with time he could forgive.

Brian could hear every thump and pound of Anthony's heart as his head lay against his chest. The strong smell of too expensive cologne wafted around him enveloping in a blanket of calmness. He slowly brought one hand up and began to softly finger Anthony's soft, dark hair. Anthony's eyes fluttered opened with the contact and he was greeted with a smile from Brian.

"Hey...." Anthony mumbled as he pulled Brian's closer to his body.

"Hey...you fell asleep...." Brian whispered back as he let himself become consumed in the warmth of Anthony's embrace.

"Sorry...so tired....what time is it?" Brian glanced over at the alarm clock beside his bed and immediately jumped up as Anthony stared at him puzzled.

"Shit! We gotta go!" Brian stated in a panic.

"Why....would you calm down!" Anthony laughed as he watched Brian fumble around his room trying to get dressed. Although nothing besides the occasional kiss or touch occurred, they were only partially clothed. Anthony's sweat shirt lay strewn on the floor amongst his timberland work boots and Brian was trying to find his own t-shirt. The heater once again had broken down leaving the apartment cold with a chilly draft. It was Anthony's suggestion that they snuggle under the blanket with their shirts off. He was amused with the erratic way that Brian was acting. He was running around so fast that in the dimness of Brian's bedroom he could make out little beads of sweat against his forehead. That's when he looked around and realized that it was a little too dark inside the bedroom. It was winter and with thanks to daylight savings, the sun set an hour earlier causing it to get darker quicker. Anthony mumbled his own swear words as he begrudgingly dragged himself out of Brian's warm bed. He smiled to himself as he could still taste Brian's kisses.

"Calm down? Its almost six! You gotta get to the game and I gotta go and meet Tracy." Brian replied as he was tying his sneakers. He let himself get so lost with Anthony that he had become oblivious to the things around him and that scared him. He wondered if getting so caught up in Anthony so quickly was healthy and he wondered if things would only get worse as time went on. They had just gotten together and already things were getting complicated or at least for Brian. Anthony on the other hand couldn't have been more happier. He finally let free all of his thoughts and feelings and it felt good. For so long he hid within himself; ignoring what felt natural to him. It would be a lie to say that Brian was the only other boy he was attracted to, but the truth was Brian was the only one he had ever been in love with. He walked over and embraced Brian from behind. At first Brian tensed, but soon relaxed as Anthony nuzzled his face into the crook of his neck. Brian let out a small laugh as he shrugged him away with a smile.

"Relax baby. I gotta head over to the gym now, but I'll see you later okay? " Anthony questioned. He felt unsure of himself. As right as things felt, a little awkwardness still remained. For so long he had tried to condition himself to ignore those feelings and now that they were revealed, he felt a little vulnerable; wide open and exposed.

"Yeah, my mom's putting in a double shift...you wanna come over later?" Brian asked sheepishly as he turned around and leaned his face into Anthony's neck. As fearful as he was he couldn't deny how right things felt.

"Yeah....I do." Anthony replied. He kissed the top of Brian's head and pulled himself away to get dressed. He too thought it was easy for him to get lost and instead of being afraid, he was left overjoyed. He felt happy, so happy. He just hoped he wouldn't fuck it up.

Riley thanked God that his father was out. His presence was the last thing that Riley needed as he got ready. He was nervous and excited by the fact that he would be going out with Tracy. It didn't matter to him that Regina and Brian were going to be there too, all that mattered to him was the fact that Tracy was. He had been completely and hopelessly infatuated with Tracy for the last two years. He didn't think he had a chance with her; especially with how they treated each other. There was just so many things standing in their way. The most obvious was the fact that he was white and she was black. Times may have changed and things were now a little more tolerant, but Riley was all too aware of how Tracy's father thought of white people; it was evident in the way that Tracy spoke. He knew that really, deep down inside, race was unimportant to her, but when your raised with your father constantly telling you how "wronged" he had been by the invisible threat of "the white man ", your views tend to get a little misguided. But, Tracy was making strides. For reasons unknown to Riley, she had been civil, even nice to him for the last few days. At first Riley didn't know what to think of it, but over the course of those few days he learned to embrace it. They had talked more in the last three days then they had in the three years they had known each other and that made him smile.

Riley looked at himself in the mirror; hating what he saw. He thought he was too overweight and his green hair was fading out to a faint lime. His natural blonde hair was growing out three inches from the top and his curls hung limply against his face. His face. Bruised still, and only swelled slightly. He hated his father for what he had done to him this time. This time had been worse because he didn't stop after he passed out. The more he looked at himself the more stupid he felt for ever thinking that Tracy would want him.

He looked over on the old hand me down dresser from good will and saw a pair of sharp scissor shears resting against the chipping cherry wood and he knew what had to be done.

Regina and Tracy walked the three blocks to Brian's house. They were ringing the bell for ten minutes before a flustered looking Brian answered. His clothes were ruffled and he looked like had either just woken up or been otherwise occupied.

"Yo! You ready?" Regina asked as she looked him over from head to toe disapprovingly. Regina was one big on appearances. She didn't judge her friends often, but she wouldn't hesitate to tell them when they were looking bad.

"In a minute. Can you guys wait down here?" Brian asked as he avoided their eyes.

"Whateva nigga, just hurry up. We were suppose to get Rye first, but Regina just had to be craving a beef patty!" Tracy replied as Regina playfully pushed her. He left the bickering girls downstairs as he rushed back up the stairs, taking them two at a time. Once back inside he kissed a nervous looking Anthony who stood anxiously in the living room zipping up his coat.

"They gone?" Anthony asked after Brian broke their kiss.

"No, they waiting on me downstairs. You gotta leave off the fire escape." Brian replied as he opened up the kitchen window that lead to the fire escape. The window was barely big enough to fit Brian and Anthony knew there was no way he was making it through without a struggle. Plus they were five floors up and he had a little fear of heights so scaling down a narrow fire escape wasn't exactly something he was willing to do.

"Hell Naw! I ain't going down that shit!" Anthony hissed. He was trying to control the level of his voice so not to put off Brian. He had spent so long doing just that, that he was now trying to be on his best behavior. Brian smirked as he nudged him towards the window.

"Still scared of heights I see." Brian laughed and Anthony smiled back as he quickly kissed him.

"Shut up! I'll wait a couple of minutes in the hallway while ya'll bounce cuz ain't no fucking way you getting my ass on dat dam fire escape!"

"Fine, wait ten minutes." Brian replied as he put on his coat and they walked out the apartment. Brian made sure the coast was clear and smiled as he quickly kissed Anthony before he rushed down the steps to meet the girls. Anthony stood there watching Brian's fading figure. A warm fuzzy feeling that he had never felt before came over him and he had to lean back and brace himself on the wall or he would have fell. Everything was now in its place.

Regina, Brian and Tracy made there way down the street towards Riley's apartment building. The weather was cold and the occasional snow flake flew past there face. Brian was glad that he had worn the pullover shirt underneath his clothes. Tracy on the other hand was kicking herself for wearing the tight white shirt and high heel shoes. All she wanted to do was look nice that night for Rye and she didn't take the weather into account or the fact that they had to walk almost two miles to the school.

They rung the bell three times and each minute that passed , they grew more anxious. They thought the worst had happened. Tracy was picturing a bloody and beaten Riley laying unconscious on the ground. She began to rang the bell erratically and when the buzz of the unlocking door finally clicked, she almost cried with relief. They made there way towards Rye's apartment and before they could knock he had opened the door grinning. Three black faces of varying shades were frozen with shock at the white one in front of them.

"What?" Rye stated as he looked nervously at Tracy who's reaction he couldn 't determine. He was beginning to fell stupid at what he done, but when Regina's black ghetto girl voice screeched, he knew everything was fine.

"OH MY MUTHA FUCKING GOD! NIGGA YOU LOOK GOOOOOD!!!" Regina yelled as she ran her fingers through the three inches of bright blonde hair that Rye had on top of his head. Rye smiled nervously as he didn't feel all together comfortable with his new look. His clothes were the same; he wasn't selling out on his rock roots, but his hair made him look drastically different. His face may have been chubby, but now with the lack of frizzy green hair, you could make out the faint trace of a strong jaw line. Brian smiled at him and nodded in approval, but Tracy still didn't say anything. She just stood there looking shocked. Regina jumped up and down dramatically as she continued to tell Rye how good she thought he looked. Tracy broke out of her shock when she

felt Regina accidentally bump her. She was just so amazed at what she saw.

The clothes were the same and so was his awkward stance, but Rye seemed different to her. Never before had she noticed his eyes. They were a pale shade of blue that almost appeared gray and with the exception of the small shadow of yellowish bruising on the skin underneath, his eyes were perfect. Tracy was in awe.

"God Rye...you look...damn good!" She whispered as he touched one hand on his cheek. Rye began to blush as Regina and Brian gave each other knowing glances.

"Come on guys, were gonna be late and you know how Jacky gets." Regina stated as the four of them made their way outside and towards the high school. Tracy hooked her arm into Rye's and smiled as they began to talk about how their school was going to beat East Side High. Brian continued to smile. The day was full of surprises that were going to continue on into the night...

The gymnasium was loud and crowded and smelled like fresh wax. The way the lights hit the floor was almost blinding. The frigidly cold December weather outside was a strong contrast to the high heat of the gym. Brian scanned the many faces of the basketball team until his eyes fell upon Anthony and he smiled. There he stood in the middle of a huddle with his teammates all matching in white Jerseys with splashes of maroon.

"Okay, we are going to be these pansies! Were doing play 45, Jones your gonna pass to Thomas and if he's not open you fake right and pass to Ramirez, got it?" Coach Parsons told his teammates. Anthony felt it in his body that he was going to be playing a great game. After so long of feeling incomplete, now that he had Brian back in his life, there was nothing that could go wrong.

He looked around the stadium and smiled to himself when his eyes met Brian' s. He was tempted to wave, but knew that wouldn't be wise, so instead he smiled harder which made Brian quickly wink before taking a seat with Tracy and the rest of his friends. Neither saw Brianna standing from the fourth row bleacher watching them. Jacky followed Anthony's gaze and saw Brian and smiled to himself. He turned his attention back to his teammates as they all put their hands out in center and roared out a "Go Tigers!"

The game was exciting, at least to Brian it was. It was his first game and he proudly watched Anthony grace up and down the court as if he owned it. Somehow in the last quarter East Side managed to tie the score with fifty. Anthony was at the free shot line and if he made the three pointer shot then he the game would have been won. Anthony was nervous as hell. His palms were sweating and the sweat was pouring into his eyes, making it hard for him to see. He looked over at his teammates, all with equal looks of anticipation. He wasn't sure that he could do it. He kept thinking `what if he missed?' If

he missed, they would lose out on the chance at the state championships and that would be all because of him. He knew he was average at best, but he didn 't like the pressure. He needed reassurance. He scanned the gymnasium for the face he knew could bring him comfort, the face he knew was his.

Brian's eyes locked with Anthony's and he smiled. He knew that Anthony had been looking for him and a rush of warmth filled his chest. He found himself holding his breath as Anthony smiled at him slightly before turning his attention back towards the basket. He said a silent prayer to himself and throw towards that red square, hoping he would hit the target. He closed his eyes and took the silence that he heard as a bad sign. Then, as if a tsunami wave hit, the force of the cheers and his teammates sweeping him off his feet surprised him. There were congratulations and yells of exhilaration as Anthony had just won the game. He looked over at Brian and almost hopped off of his teammates shoulders to run towards him. It was one of his happiest moments

and for the first time, he would be able to celebrate it with Brian, the love he waited the last five years for. But, he knew he couldn't run over to him and embrace him like every fiber in his soul was telling him to, no that would wait for later. It was a silent agreement said between their eyes.

Brian almost threw up as he saw Lucia run over and kiss Anthony roughly in front of the crowded gym. The cheers continued to blast through his ears and he heard Regina saying something in his ear, but his attention was focused only on the kiss that Lucia was giving Anthony...his Anthony. He took comfort in the fact the Anthony was trying to push her off of him, but not much.

Lucia was so happy. Her boyfriend was the star of the night. He was the reason why they made the state championship and she couldn't have been more happy. She rushed over to him and kissed him, only something was different. Anthony was always the passionate type. You could thank his Latin heritage for that, he was a true Cuban lover, but there was no spark in their kiss. Normally he would try to cop a feel, regardless of who may have been around, but nope....nothing. His hands stayed at his side. He was the first to break the kiss.

"I'll call you tomorrow." He told her and she didn't like the tone of his voice. She could feel that something was wrong, but she tried to pretend that there wasn't. She wanted things to work this time; she was a fool in love.

"Baby! You did great! We gotta celebrate!" She said trying to put as much cheer in her voice as she could muster.

"Not tonight. I'm tired." He replied trying to keep his voice level, but he really didn't want to talk to her. Although it was hurting him to know that he would hurt her, he knew what had to be done. He already spent too long hurting Brian and he would be damned if he would hurt him again. No, this time he would be doing things the right way. He just hoped that his good intentions wouldn't lead to bad outcomes.

"Come on baby. You know there's gonna be mad parties tonight and you's the main attraction!" She continued to whine in her New Jersey born Italian accent. Now was not the time for Anthony to be blunt with her so instead he gave her a cute smile that he knew would warm her up and let him get his way.

"I need to get some sleep baby. I'll call you in the morning."

"Come on....pleeeaassee! If you don't want to hang out wit the crew, it could just be...you know...you and me. I'll even do that thing you like." Lucia wasn't letting up, but not even the promise of head could persuade Anthony to change his mind. He smiled, kissed her on her forehead. She frowned as she knew that the battle was lost.

"Okay, tomorrow then." She walked off with a fake smile plastered to her face. She was a cheerleader after all, so she had to always look happy even if inside she was crying.

"Yo Ant! Wat da fuck you mean you ain't coming and shit?" Carlos screeched after Anthony declined to go with his friends back to Jacky's house for a celebration.

"I'm tired nigga! I'll holla at ya'll lada." Anthony replied as he shut and locked his locker. He didn't bother to shower because he knew that would take too long. No, he wanted to be with Brian as soon as possible.

"So, Tracy. What time you gotta be home?" Riley asked her as he, and Brian made their way out of the gym and into the cold night. Regina was waiting for Jacky back inside and told them to leave her.

"My Dad said ten...are you hungry?" She asked and he nodded. Brian thought it was cute how nervous they were acting around each other.

"Uh...yeah...sure. Chicken Shack?"

"Sounds good to me. Brian, you coming?" Tracy asked and looked over at him expectantly with eyes that told him he better not say yes.

"You know what, I'm tired. Ya'll have fun!" He stated with a wink in Riley's direction and started to walk off. Tracy and Riley exchanged timid smile's before they began their journey, in quest of fried chicken.

Brian was walking down the darkened street. It was only a little after eight, but the winters night came down fast. Having spent his entire life living in the ghetto's, walking the mean streets didn't intimidate him, but the feeling that someone was following him did. There was a light dusting of snow on the ground and he could hear the crunch of his shell toe sneakers crunching with each step he took. The street lights reflected off the snow and slush making it appear as varying shades of red, yellow and green. He was cold, but the chill that ran through his body was from when he heard a crunching that wasn't his own. He told himself that he was just being silly, just paranoid. So what if someone was behind him. It was a busy street and it was probably just someone trying to hurry up out of the snow. Brian crossed the street trying to shake off his eerie feeling, but the crushing behind him followed. He walked faster and so did who ever it was behind him. Faster and faster he walked, but the stranger kept pace. Brian turned down the first block that he saw and kicked himself. This block was deserted and the crunching behind him continued. Dilapidated housing and dark empty lots flew past him as he speed quickened. But, the crushing continued. Brian was almost out of breath. He was never the athlete and the cold wasn't helping. He was too afraid to turn around. His imagination was telling him that some deranged crack-head was following him, just waiting for the opportunity to stick him with and A.I.D.S infected needle or maybe try to rob him. He didn't have any money and he wondered how mad the crack-head would be about that. Probably mad enough to kill. His thoughts got to him and before he knew it he had broken out in a run, but the crunching behind him did too. He could hear whoever it was chasing him breathing out hard and fast which only made Brian run harder and faster and stronger until his apartment building was in sight. He cursed

his slum-lord for not replacing the broken lights on the first floor hall. Hands digging dryly inside cold pockets of jeans as he fumbled for his key' s. Eureka and he was in the safety of the building only a foot wedged in the doorway prevented him from closing it. It was too dark for him to see the face of the stranger, but by the build he could tell it was a man, almost a foot taller than him and about fifty pounds heavier.

"GET THE FUCK OUT!" He screamed finding strength out of fear, but all he received was a hearty laugh that up until earlier that day, he hadn't heard in years. Brian relaxed his grip on the door and the stranger came in, greeting him quickly with a peck on the lips before pulling away grinning.

"Damn Yo! You was about to break my foot and shit!" Anthony stated as he let his hand gently rest on Brian's slender shoulder.

"You scared the shit out of me! What the hell?" Brian questioned as he could feel the relief mixing with the warm and fuzzy feeling travel through his body.

"Sorry, but I couldn't just "walk" wit you and shit." He rationalized and Brian understood. It would look too odd for them to be seen together, after all it was common knowledge that they were "enemies". Brian kind of liked the idea of sneaking around. It made everything feel more forbidden than it already was by societies standards. It kind of turned him on, but only a bit.

"I got you. Oh shit! Congratulations! You did SO good tonight!" Brian said as unlocked the door to his apartment. It was just as cold inside as it was out. That damn heater was still broken.

"Thanks man! I was scared as shit that I would miss."

"Why aren't you out celebrating with everybody?" Brian asked as he put on a pot of water to make hot chocolate with.

"I am celebrating." Anthony replied with a smirk on his face and for half a second the remark was lost on Brian. That is until Anthony came up behind him and hugged him from behind as he planted angel kisses on his neck. To him, Brian tasted like the future. There was hope, need and desperation in every kiss that he gave him, but it wasn't his neck that he wanted. No, Anthony wanted his mouth and the feeling was mutual as Brian turned the stove off, turned around and put his arms around Anthony's neck. He pressed his body close to Anthony's as they both exhaled breath's into each other's hot mouths that they didn't even realize they had been holding. No, that night was about letting go. Letting go of the past and letting go of fears. It was left unsaid, but as Brian broke the kiss and looked up into Anthony's dark green eyes he just knew. He knew that he wanted to have all of Anthony, inside and out. He wanted to make love, fully and completely he wanted Anthony and that thought was not lost on him either.

"What time does you moms get in?" Anthony asked breathlessly.

"Not until the morning." Brian whispered with a smirk and just like that, it was on. It was Anthony who first took off his sweat shirt and was greeted with the cold draft of air hardening his nipples. Shivering, he didn't care. He took off Brian's shirt and warmed them both up with his roaming hands. Brian followed suit and he found his hand slowly reaching down inside of Anthony's maroon and white sweat pants. He could feel the heat attack his hand before he even touched Anthony's dick, but when his slender finger gripped around Anthony's pulsating thickness, the heat intensified a thousand fold. Anthony grunted inside Brian's mouth and his kissing become more aggressive.

Brian started to back out of the kitchen, leading Anthony to follow by dragging him by his hardness. Anthony let our a hoarse laugh.

"You like leading, don't you?" Anthony teased Brian with a smirk.

"For now, but you can lead later." Brian whispered back between each kiss.

As soon a Brian's bedroom door closed, they began to rip each other's clothes off. The low light of the lamp made them both appear almost golden and they both took moments to admire the sights in front of them. Anthony leaned down to kiss Brian again and reached down lower to embrace all of him. He squeezed his hand around Brian hard and heard a soft whimper escape his lips. This only spurred him on and he began to massage Brian harder, feeling each pulse and shake that course threw him and mirrored on him as Brian reached his hand up and returned the favor.

"Wait!" Brian said suddenly, causing Anthony to look at him with confusion.

He watched as Brian made his way over to his night stand and pull out a small bottle of oil and a condom. Anthony was no fool and he knew what they were for.

"Brian...are you sure, I mean we can wait to--" Anthony started to say, but Brian's lips silenced him.

"No! I've waited too long for this already. Yeah, I want to do this, but go slow....real slow..." Brian whispered. Anthony could tell that he was nervous and he wanted to ease his discomfort. He rolled over so he was on top of Brian. Again the kisses came, only Anthony moved lower. There was no hesitation as Anthony took Brian in his mouth. Brian was consumed with the intense feelings that ran through his body. It was like all the fantasies and dreams he had couldn't even come close to what he was experiencing at that moment. And as soon as he started, Anthony pulled away. Brian closed his eyes as he could feel the cool oil run down his thighs. Anthony tentatively took his index finger and put it inside Brian. It hurt, there was no denying that, but Brian wanted to do this, yeah, he would take the pain for now. One finger became two; rolling around and prodding, but Brian didn't feel invaded. After a few moments Anthony pulled them out and looked up at Brian as he hovered his body over him.

"Are you sure?" He asked him once again and Brian pulled him down in a kiss as an answer. Brian turned over on his stomach and sat back on his haunches. He could hear Anthony's heavy breathing hissing in his ear as he was preparing himself. Anthony put on cold hand on Brian's lower back causing him to shudder. Then, in an instance Brian could feel Anthony's crown edging its way in. Out of pure reflex Brian pulled away, but was steadied by Anthony's arm wrapped around his lower back. It hurt so bad. It felt like lighting had

jumped up and inside his ass, but Brian gritted his teeth and tried to get use to the feeling. It was a sharp throbbing pain, but it wasn't as bad as it

would have been if Anthony was moving it in and out. No, Anthony was still. He was relishing in the tight heat of Brian and he found himself sighing. He asked if Brian was okay and he heard a muffled grunt version of `yeah'. Anthony slowly pulled it out a little, feeling the resistance he went even slower until he was half-way out. He went back all the way in and he could feel Brian trembling underneath him. He wished he could look into his eyes, but in the position they were in all Anthony could see was Brian's smooth, dark brown back as he traced his finger tips across his spine. Brian couldn't decide if he was feeling pain or pleasure. It was like for each sharp pain he felt, for the briefest of moments he felt pleasure. He was adjusting to the feeling quickly and he found himself moving in time with Anthony's slow thrusts. The slowness speed up and soon he heard the slapping of Anthony's thighs hitting his own, but Anthony wasn't going as fast as he wanted to. All he wanted to do was grind on top of Brian hard and fast. He wanted to go in and out fast and quick, but he didn't want to hurt Brian so slow and steady was how he did it. As if someone flipped on a switch, Anthony hit something inside of Brian which caused him to go completely hard. Up until that point Brian had been in-between hard and soft, but after Anthony hit that spot inside of him he went to full capacity. Brian found himself moaning out loudly out of pleasure. He still felt the throbbing pain, but it almost like he liked the dual feeling of pain/pleasure, pleasure/pain. Before he could stop himself Anthony found himself feeling the condom with his seed. He was surprised he had lasted that long. He reached under and began to massage Brian's balls. Feeling the ticking sensation, it pushed Brian over as he cum trickled down on the white sheet below him. Anthony collapsed on top of Brian's back as they both needed to lay down. Anthony, still inside of him, continued to move around with gently pushes of his softening dick. His breath's came out in short gasps that blew on Brian's neck. They both didn't say anything, they didn't have to. It was a moment that didn't need words....
