Bill: Josh...I love you and I'll see on Saturday, OK?

Josh: Yeah....I...I love you too...and I'll be there on Saturday when you get here. I guess just give me a ring on my cell and I'll come over since I'll have your key.

Bill: Kewl! Will do Josh. Tell Justin and the guys I said hello and that I'll see them soon.

Josh: OK. Remember......act surprised to see Lance there in a few minutes. Bye Bill.

Bill: Bye Josh.

Chapter 21: Expecting Unexpected Visitors

Bill had just finished making his bed and picking up the dirty clothes in his room when he heard his doorbell ring.

"Just a minute" Bill called from the bathroom as he straightened his hair and tried his best to wipe the smile off his face.

Bill walked over to the door and unlocked the deadbolt and pulled it open, gasping in what he hoped was a convincing semblance of surprise.

"Lance!"

Lance smiled and walked in, putting his arms around Bill and hugging him, then leaning up to peck a kiss on his lips.

"Miss me?"

Bill smiled and leaned in kissed Lance back, this time much deeper, and much longer.

"Yes...Yes I did."

Lance moaned lightly and hugged Bill once more before pulling back and looking up at him.

"So...were you really surprised or did JC call like I thought he would and warn you?"

Bill snickered and nodded, "Well...I was surprised enough...let's just leave it at that."

Lance grinned and chuckled, "That works for me."

After giving Lance a quick tour of his still somewhat disorganized house, Bill smiled and sat down with Lance in the small sofa in the living room.

"So did JC ask about getting your key to your new place so that we can go air it out?"

Bill nodded, "Yep! I wanted to thank you all for taking the time to do that...I know you guys are really busy getting ready to release your new album."

Lance smiled and nodded, "It's no problem...besides...it's for you...so it isn't like we not gonna be hangin' out there all the time."

Bill grinned, "That'll be nice. I can't wait."

"So what are your plans for tonight?"

Bill shrugged, "I didn't have anything planned....what's on your mind?"

Lance smiled, "The act that I came up here to see is playing in a club in Greensboro and I was wondering if you wanted to go see him with me."

Bill nodded, "Sure! That'd be fun."

"Let's head out then, he goes on at 9:30 so we have about an hour or so to get there."

Fourty-five minutes later, Lance parked his rental car in the parking lot next to the nightclub and the two headed inside. After grabbing a table in the middle of the club, Lance and Bill ordered two sodas and sat back and waited for the show to begin. A few minutes later, the emcee walked out and began to play up the crowd a bit.

"We have a great show for you tonite. We have a new singer, fresh from the western part of North Carolina. He's a young 'un, he's only 18, but he's got a voice on him that could melt butter. Let's give a hand for this great new talent now, give it up for Paul Summerstorm."

The audience clapped politely as the lights dimmed and a dark silouhette made its way to the center of the stage. A second later, the first haunting chords of the song began as the figure strummed his guitar lightly, and the spotlight opened on his face as he began to sing.

Bill nodded at the effect that the performer had used, and watched intently with Lance as the young man poured his heart and soul into his music for the next 30 minutes. At the end of the set, Lance looked over at Bill, scanning his face for reaction.

"Well...what did you think?"

Bill looked over at Lance and raised his eyebrow, "I think with his voice and musicality, not to mention his good looks and stage prescence, you'd be foolish NOT to sign him right now. I have this feeling...he's gonna go places."

Lance nodded and smiled, "You noticed that too, huh?"

"We weren't the only guys in here that noticed that." Bill said as he pointed to a group of young men sitting near the stage who had been watching the young artist with baited breath."

Lance chuckled, "I didn't know if it was my imagination but they looked like they were ready to swoon over him."

Bill nodded and then followed Lance as he got up and made his way to go backstage. After a few seconds of chatting with the stage manager, the young man smiled and gave directions to the performer's dressing area.

Lance knocked on the door and waited for a few seconds before he heard a pleasant voice yell to come in. Lance opened the door and walked in.

"Hello there.", the young man smiled then gasped, "Hey...Aren't you that guy from NSYNC?"

"Hi there." Lance smiled, "Yeah. I sing with NSYNC, my name's Lance. My friend here is Bill."

"Paul Summerstorm", the young man smiled as he shook Lance and then Bill's hand, "good to meet you both.I thought I was hallucinating out there for a while when I recognized you, what brings you here?"

Lance smiled, "I also manage artists and am looking for new talent. Someone suggested that I come see you, so here I am."

"Really?!?" Paul grinned, "What did you think of me?"

"I believe Bill said it best, he told me that with your voice and musicality, I'd be a fool not to sign you up!"

Paul looked at Bill and smiled, "Thanks man! That's the best thing I think I've heard said about me in a long time."

Bill grinned conspiratorially, "I am sure you'll hear better soon."

Lance smiled at Bill and then turned towards Paul.

"Well...let me give you my cell number and stuff and we can touch base and I can get a contract drawn up and get you to come down to Orlando and let you look it over and we can go from there."

Paul's eyes widened, "You mean you're not kidding...you really wannna sign me?"

Lance nodded, "Yep, as a new artist to Freelance Entertainment"

Paul let out a whoop and picked Lance up, spinning him around the room, then pulling him and giving him a peck on the lips.

"THANK YOU SO MUCH! WHOO HOO HOO!"

Bill dissolved into a fit of giggling as he watched the Paul spin Lance around the room like as if he were playing with a doll. Lance's eyes widened and he blushed a deep red at the kiss that he had just received.

"Ummmm...no problem Paul." Lance stammered as he looked at the attractive young man who had just kissed him. Lance handed Paul a business card with his phone numbers on it and smiled as Paul placed it carefully in his wallet. "Can you call me tomorrow and we can discuss it more and get you started through the process?"

Paul nodded and then grabbed Lance once more, hugging him tightly and letting out one more loud yell. Paul grabbed Bill and pulled him in for a hug and then he smiled, "Thank you too...for that great recommendation!"

Bill nodded and then he and Lance said their good-bye's and headed out of Paul's dressing room.

Bill and Lance walked back to the public area of the club and Bill pulled Lance into the bathroom with him and grabbed some toilet paper from one of the stalls. Bill wet the toilet paper and grabbed Lance's face and began to wipe off his lips and chin.

"What ARE you doing?" Lance asked with a laugh as he struggled to get away.

"Ummm....wiping off his stage lipstick.", Bill smiled, "He got some on you when he planted that wet one right on your kisser."

Lance's eyes widened and his face took an almost scared look.

"I didn't mean to kiss him....really I didn't!"

Bill laughed, "I didn't think he gave you an option, Lance. He kinda planted one on ya before you knew what happened. The look on your face was priceless, and I just wish I had a camera.."

Lance smiled ruefully, "And you let me sweat that one out, huh? I was all worried that it would have upset you and you let me sweat it out?"

Bill grinned evilly and leaned into Lance, pecking a kiss of his own on Lance's lips.

"Yep! That I did!"

"I know why I like you now, yep....you're evil!" Lance grinned and shook his head.

Lance and Bill made it back to his place by midnight and immediately went to the bedroom and fell asleep in each other's arms. The next day, Bill took Lance shopping at Crabtree Valley Mall, the nice mall in Raleigh, NC. Bill smiled as he and Lance walked into the Restorations Hardware store and looked around.

"WOW!" Lance gasped, "This place is awesome."

Bill nodded, "This is my favorite store. I love their furniture. It's so comfortable. I can't wait til I get down to Florida, I have a few pieces in here that I totally wanna buy for my new place."

Lance perked up, "Oh really? Which ones?"

Bill walked over to a dark green slipcovered sofa and sat down on it and sighed.

"This sofa....cause the sofa that I have now is going to the goodwill store in Chapel Hill when I move. It's kinda junky and falling apart and wouldn't really fit in with the new place. I also plan on getting that chaise over there...but with this color slipcover."

Lance looked over at the chaise and smiled and then walked over and sat down on it and groaned.

"What is this stuffed with? It's so soft...I just sink down into it."

Bill smiled, "The cushions are filled with goose down. Isn't that just the most comfortable thing?"

Lance nodded and then got up and picked up a brochure for the store that way laying on an end table and began to look it over.

"Cool...they have delivery available! I totally have to get some furniture from here....and tell my mom about this place....she'll love it."

Bill grinned and then began to walk around the store with Lance, pointing out stuff that he liked and talking with Lance about it. After leaving Restorations, the two ran through Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel for a few hours and then had some light lunch in the food court.

"When does your flight leave?"

Lance sighed and looked at his watch.

"It leaves this afternoon around 4 pm. Let's head back to your place and we can chill for a while before we go to the airport.

Lance and Bill got back to Chapel Hill around 12:30 pm and sat around and talked for a half hour before laying down and taking a quick nap. Lance woke up before Bill and laid there and watched him sleep for a while, then got up and walked around the house, taking an inventory of Bill's furniture and marking down what would and wouldn't be needed at his new place. Lance stepped outside and called JC and gave him that information, then called the nearest Restorations Hardware Store to Orlando and ordered the pieces that he had seen and liked that day, arranging for their delivery on Friday. Lance went back inside and laid back down beside Bill and shook him awake.

"Hey sleepyhead. Wanna come with me to the airport?"

Bill shook his head, "No."

Lance's eyes widened and he surpressed a stricken look at the unexpected negative response.

"I don't want you to go at all, Lance, I like having you here with me.", Bill smiled as he looked deep inside Lance's green eyes and pecked him lightly on the lips.

Lance hugged Bill tightly and giggled, "You gotta stop doin that. You totally had me going there."

Bill smiled, "I'm sorry. So...are you gonna be doing anything this weekend or would you to hang out with me after I get somewhat moved in to the new place."

Lance shrugged, "I dunno. Let me check my schedule and see if I can spare the time."

Bill's eyebrows shot up and Lance smiled and giggled, "There...I Gotcha back!"

Bill rolled his eyes, "Check your schedule, huh?"

Lance laughed as Bill grabbed him and began to tickle him ruthlessly.

"No NO NO! Stop! Before I pee myself!"

Bill stopped tickling and grabbed Lance around the waist and pulled him into a tight embrace, lowering his face to meet Lance's.

"Thanks for coming up to see me. I was beginning to miss you and the guys something terrible."

Lance smiled, "We missed your cooking....er....we missed you too."

Bill made a mock disgusted noise and pulled back from Lance.

"AHA! I see it now! You're after me just cause I can cook."

Lance smiled and leaned into Bill, grabbing the back of his head and pulling him into a deep kiss. After breaking the kiss, Lance sighed, "Oh yeah! You can cook....and I'm not talking about in the kitchen neither!"

Bill giggled and blushed, "Nice!"

An hour later, Bill stood beside Lance as the two waited for the airplane to begin boarding at RDU. Lance looked over at Bill and smiled at the serious expression on his face.

"What're you thinking about?"

"Just thinking about how much I can't wait to see you guys again this weekend."

The announcement for Lance's flight sounded through the speakers and Lance looked at Bill for a second, then looked around and pulled him in for a hug.

"I can't wait, either, I'll see you on Saturday. We'll get the place all squared away for you to move into. See you then, B."

Bill smiled and squeezed Lance's arm once more before Lance winked and turned and walked down the ramp to catch his plane.
