***Disclaimer:

This is yet another story about those hunky boys of the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync written by a straight woman. Therefore, please excuse my writings if they appear to be a bit screwed due to my lack of knowledge. This story is a work of fiction and is purely written for the sole purpose of entertainment and enjoyment. This story does not imply anything about the sexuality of the person(s) involved. Believe me, that would suck in my case, but not to others. So, enjoy!

A TALE OF TWO BOYBANDS: THEN

CHAPTER III

**

As Kevin had predicted, the guys from each group were divided between the two teams. Kevin led his team with JC as his co-captain. Lance, Joey, and AJ were among their teammates, which meant that others were in the opposing team. Despite the height disadvantage, Chris's team beat Kevin's and JC's team by over ten points sending the crowd of mostly preteen girls in a frenzy. The guys had to hurry out through the back door to avoid any mob scene. A tour bus waited for the two groups. The guys quickly gathered into the bus and immediately left just in time as the first of a series of screaming fans round the corner.

The guys all crashed exhaustively in the bus. Chris sat with Howie. Joey and Lance shared another seat. Kevin sat down by himself in the back of the bus. AJ did the same as well. Unlike `N Sync, the Backstreet Boys were not very close. Brian entered the bus, scanning for Justin. In the corner of his eyes, he located Justin. Justin was too cute, with his legs pulled up from the seat and his body stretched out horizontally. Brian smiled at his opportunity. He wanted their friendship to grow in hopes of winning Justin's heart. Sure, Justin is not gay, but considering how young he was, he was naïve and impressionable. He was just learning about himself. Brian wanted to help him learn about himself.

In the back of Brian's mind, he knew that Justin could easily be manipulated since he had never had to think for himself, always having had decisions made in his behalf. Brian walked up to the now sleeping Justin and was utterly disappointed. His jaw dropped as he understood how close Justin was to JC. He found Justin snuggling close to JC and JC holding him tight in his arms. Justin was safe in JC's arms. No one could protect him like JC could. Not even Brian.

Brian retracted. He found his way back to Nick, who was sitting in the booth next to Justin and JC. Nick was sitting alone as was AJ. They had another heated argument earlier in the day. Now, Nick was alone. Brian asked to sit down, but received no response. Brian just sat down next to Nick was lost in his own trance to even realize that Brian was crying.

Later in the evening management announced that the boys raised nearly $100, 000 during the basketball game. This accomplished was well rewarded with a night out in town. The guys all headed to a nightclub in the small European town. Everyone had a great time, especially Kevin and JC who seemed to click too well. They continued their conversations without paying attention to their surroundings like they did a few nights before. Even the youngins were having a great time. Nick had rekindled his friendship with AJ while Lance was enjoying his quality spent with Justin minus his attached limb, JC.

Everyone was having a great time, everyone, of course except Brian. Brian just sat at the table overlooking the scene below him. He hated that he couldn't openly express himself. He hated that he had to lie to everyone. He hated that he had to keep himself a secret as if he was a shame. During this moment of careful contemplation, Brian made a decision to at last reveal the true Brian at all cost. He would tell his bandmates first thing tomorrow.

Returning to the bar scene. Kevin and JC were enjoying yet another round of shots when suddenly a woman walked up behind JC, covering his eyes not to mention startling him. JC turned swiftly around and was met with none other than the "peach" of his life.

"Nikki!" JC shouted, picking the woman up from floor. "What are you doing here?"

"Just came to see you, why you don't want me to?" Nikki responded.

"No. No." JC quickly said. "I haven't seen you in so long. I miss you."

"I know, I miss you, too. I'm only here for a few hours and I thought I'd drop by a nightclub.

Who would think you'd be here, Mr. Goody, Goody." Nikki said, embracing in JC's arms.

She pulled away and noticed Kevin still sitting at the bar. "Who's your friend?"

"Oh." JC said, turning to look at Kevin. He looked a bit irritated after JC had just abandoned him. "This is my friend, Kevin."

"Hi," Kevin got up on his feet and extended his hand, "I'm Kevin. And you are?"

"I'm Nikki, JC's girlfriend from home." Nikki said, sincerely. "Are you a fan of the guys?"

"Oh." Kevin was disappointed. He now understood how Brian felt. "I'm Kevin Richardson from the Backstreet Boys."

"Backstreet who?" Nikki said, before being pulled off to the side by JC.

"Nikki, wait for me on the floor. I'll join you in a sec." JC told his girlfriend.

Nikki took one last look at Kevin as he slammed his drinks on the table. She leaned forward to kiss JC and then left as instructed. Once his girlfriend was gone, JC trotted back to Kevin.

"Hey, man." JC said. "I'm sorry that we couldn't repeat the other night. I haven't seen my girlfriend in so long. I think I'm going to hang with her for the rest of the night."

"You never told me that you had a girlfriend." Kevin murmured.

"You never asked." JC patted Kevin's back. "I would never lie to a friend." And he was gone.

The members of both groups returned to the hotel earlier than expected. As much as it was for everyone, the party died down very quickly lasting no more than 3 hours. They exited the nightclub and were rushed back into the bus. They all sat down and waited to sleep comfortably in their beds.

Brian walked up and down the halls anxiously waiting for the sun to come up and eventually for his true self to rise from the ashes like a phoenix would. He wanted to tell his bandmates in the morning, but he couldn't wait any longer. No later than 1 am he called his cousin who notified the rest of the Backstreet Boys for an emergency meeting in Kevin's room. They all arrived promptly, which was out of the ordinary.

Nick, AJ, and Howie entered Kevin's room to find that Brian had already been waiting for them.

"What the fuck is this about?" AJ said, grumpily.

"Hi, guys. Sorry to wake you up from your sleep." Kevin said. "This can't wait."

"What is it?" Howie asked. "Has the record company dropped us or something?"

"No." Brian said, getting up from his seat. "It's about me. I have something to say." Brian paused and when all eyes were drawn to him, he continued, "I think since we are a group and if we want this to last, I want to be openly honest with you guys. I want you guys to know me, Brian Littrell as Brian Littrell. I don't want to put up a façade and hide behind some image Lou has created for me."

"What are you saying?" Nick asked, obviously still half asleep.

"Guys, I'm gay." Brian said. "And I don't want to hide anymore."

Minutes of silent awkwardness prevailed, followed shouting and screaming from all four members of the group except Brian. He knew that they would be shocked, but he didn't expect the slurs to be coming from those innocent faces.

"Is that why you kept touching me?" Nick asked Brian.

"No. I would never touch you in any way. I'm your friend, Nick." Brian said. "I'm gay, but I'm not a jerk."

"Oh yeah!" AJ yelled. "Why did you keep this from us? I bet this group isn't going to last long enough to return to the States and it's all your fault, Brian."

The amplitude of the shouting match increased ten folds as Kevin felt it necessary to defend his cousin. The nightmare continued for several more minutes. It abruptly ended when they realized Brian was no where to be found. He had slipped outside during this who charade.

"Where's Brian?" Howie asked.

"Probably raping Justin as we speak." AJ said.

"Shut up!" Kevin said. "I can't believe you guys. How are we going to last if we can't even stay in the same room for more than five minutes without fighting? Now get out of my room!"

Kevin was furious. He was already met with a set back earlier in the night when he found out that JC was taken and taken by a woman. Now, after much anguish seeing his cousin going through pain, he came to realize that he and his fellow bandmates were just another group of white boys who whined way too much. They would not last another day as a group.

Down the hall, Brian sat down with his back against the wall, crying to himself. He had left the room thirty minutes ago and yet no one had come looking for him. They were no friends. It was just a business arrangement. It was their job and now he realized that he was alone. He was alone, but not for long. Brian felt a warm hand placed on his left shoulder. He looked up to see Justin's glowing face staring back at him. His blue eyes so deep in color. They could easily be mistaken as the oceans.

"Why are you crying here on the floor?" Justin asked.

"I'm not crying." Brian said, wiping away his tears.

"It's okay to cry. I do it all the time." Justin said, smiling. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Brian said, burying his face in his hands. Brian looked up and again was met by Justin's babyface. "Nick is mad at me and now he doesn't want me to be his roommate."

"You can stay with me." Justin said. "Lance got sick so he's staying with JC. JC's like our daddy."

"Are you sure?" Brian asked.

"You did it for me once." Justin said, extending his right hand.

Brian took it graciously and was helped from the floor by Justin. Justin led Brian to his room and shut the door behind him, not to be opened until the morning sun rise again. Brian continued to cry as he did before, forcing Justin to do more than listening in order to comfort his friend. Justin moved to the side of the bed offering Brian to sleep next to him as he held him in sleep. Soon enough, Brian dosed off into a deep sleep, lying on top of Justin. Justin soon entered his sleep, but his sleep would soon be disturbed.

During the middle of the night, he felt something was wrong. Brian had fallen asleep on top of him. He felt something or someone rather rubbing against him- against his most private area. He pulled the covers off of him slightly and found Brian's hands grazing over his clothed genitalia. Sure enough, Justin dismissed it as anything serious. Brian was asleep. His hand probably just slipped on top of him. Justin returned to sleep, but to be awoken again by a cold touch he knew too well and was very uncomfortable with. Brian's hand had slipped into Justin's boxers, grabbing hold of the youth's penis. At first Brian just stroked Justin's bare penis slowly, but soon progressed to a strong grip as he yanked the encapsuled flesh, wrapping his fingers around the penis. Justin's eyes shot open. He slipped his hand into his own boxers to remove Brian's hand, but Brian's fingers remained tightly wrapped around his penis. The touch of Justin's hand on Brian's hand instigated another forced squeeze of the youth's penis by his older intruder. Soon, Brian's hand slipped off Justin's penis and removed from inside his boxers to be placed on Justin's chest.

Justin did not know what to think. Brian turned away, grabbing a tighter hold of the blanket, leaving Justin without any blankets to comfort him. It was nothing, Justin kept telling himself. He continued to repeat those words in his mind, eventually convincing himself that it was indeed nothing.

Morning arrived and Justin woke up to an empty bed and room. He heard the shower went on and knew that Brian had gotten up to take a shower. With that in mind, Justin slipped out of bed and walked across the hall to where JC and Lance were staying the night before. In just a pair of boxers and his signature wifebeater, Justin pounded on the door lightly.

Immediately, the door swung open and there stood JC.

"Hey, J." JC said.

"Hey, Josh." Justin said, looking at one end of the hall to the other before returning to face JC. "I need to talk to you."

"Sure." JC said, pulling Justin inside and closing the door behind him. "What's up?"

"I, um, last night-"

"What is it, Justin?" JC asked. "You're starting to scare me."

"Something happened last night." Justin said. "I-"

"Justin, tell me. Did anything happen to you last night?"

"JC, I-" Justin looked straight into JC's eyes. Justin's eyes were full of confusion.

"What happened to you last night?" JC asked once more. "Did Brian do anything to do?"

"JC," Justin bit his bottom lips. "Last night while I was sleeping, I felt someone touching me. I thought it was just a dream, but when I woke up, I found Brian touching me."

"He what?!" JC yelled, waking up Lance in the process.

"It was nothing, JC." Justin said. "Honest. He was sleeping at the time. I didn't want to make a big deal about it last night so I waited until this morning to come talk to you."

JC looked from Justin to Lance who was now getting up on the bed. JC took Justin by the wrist and literally dragged the boy across the room and pushed him inside the bathroom. JC then turned on the shower, which only perplexed Justin further. He did not know what to expect.

"Sit down!" JC ordered the boy.

"JC." Justin whined, not wanting to sit down on the cold toilet seat with just his boxers on.

"Sit down." JC said again with more authority in his voice. "How did he touch you?"

"JC, please don't make me talk about it." Justin pleaded. "It was nothing, honestly."

"Justin, if you're this upset," JC looked at Justin who was now sobbing uncontrollably. His emotions were out of control. "How did he touch you?"

"He had his hand on me at first and then the next thing I knew, he had his hands inside my boxers. He touched me and tightened his grip. I don't know, JC. It happened so quick."

"That bastard." JC said out loud.

"Don't be mad at me, JC." Justin cried some more. "It was nothing at all."

"It wasn't nothing at all the first time, what makes it alright this time?" JC asked.

"I don't know. Brian's a friend. He didn't do anything. He didn't know what he was doing. He was asleep and that's the truth."

"I'm your friend." JC said. "I don't touch you like that. That's not what friends do. Do you understand? I don't care if you dropped your pants in front of him, he should not have taken advantage of you like that."

Justin just nodded his head. He understood, but for some reason he bore no hatred for Brian. He knew that it was nothing. JC was just blowing the whole situation out of proportion.

"But you and Nikki, you let her-"

"Nikki is my girlfriend." JC interrupted Justin. "You're not Brian's boyfriend, are you?"

"No." Justin said, shaking his head. "I'm not gay."

With that answer, JC stormed outside, ignoring Lance who was getting up to talk to him. He walked across the hall and entered Justin's room with Brian still inside. He slam shut the door behind him. As soon as he saw Brian coming out of the bathroom, he charged him, knocking Brian onto the floor.

"You bastard!" JC yelled, hitting Brian in the face. "He's just a kid."

JC continued yelling, bringing forth everyone into the room except Lance and Justin, who were still in JC's room. Everyone circled around the two. Joey and Chris stepped in to pry JC off Brian. Once JC was removed from Brian, Kevin played the moderator role and broke the silence.

"What the hell happened?" He asked.

"He started it." JC said, pointing at Brian like a little kid.

"Started what?" Brian asked. "I don't know what he's talking about. I got out of the bathroom and he charged me, knocking me to the floor."

"Oh. You know what you did." JC said.

"No, I don't."

"You took advantage of Justin!" JC yelled. "He's just a kid. He was being nice to you and what did you do in return. You fucking took advantage of him. You touched him."

"I, I-" Brian was at a loss for words. He now remembered vaguely of last night, but up until now he had thought it was just a mere dream, a fantasy. He didn't know that he was acting on his fantasies. "Oh, God. Where's Justin? I need to apologize. I didn't mean to hurt him, honestly."

"Well, save it. We're out of here." JC said, walking away from the Backstreet Boys as Chris and Joey followed him out.

"I told you it was going to happen." AJ said, walking away.

"I'm never going to room with him, again." Nick said as if Brian wasn't even in the room.

When the room was empty again, Brian fell to the floor and sobbed loudly. No one understood him. No one cared for him. No one loved him. He was all alone in this world.
