I reached over and just gently stroked Henrys cheek.

"I know Henry and that is really sweet of you,but I'd drive anybodyelse up the wall inside of a week. I've tried it before and it never works out."

"Can't blame a guy for trying."

"No I can't but believe me when I say we're just better off being friends."

"With benefits?"

"We'll see about that Henry. Have a good night."

"You too."

I closed the door and went in and threw something in the microwave for supper and turned on the tv. The news, as usual, was too damn depressing so I found a movie to go along with supper.

Before I knew it I was half way through my third movie and decided to call it a night.

Tuesday morning came up overcast and threatening a good rain. By early afternoon it was coming down in buckets.

I recieved a few more responses to the eviction questionaire, all of the opinion that Andrew should go. Alex called me and told me that the guy had been released by the poilce and was back in the building so that I could watch my back,so to speak.

Andrew it seemed was making himself even less welcome by going around to those he thought might be sympathetic to him and pleading with them for their support. Much as I would have liked to I really couldn't stop him. He did have a right to air his complaint and try to muster support.

Middle of the week and I needed to do the halls again and managed to take a few minutes to go over and see Dana again. He was still on track to be released on Friday.

Thursday came and almost all of the questionaires were back recommending Andrew be evicted. I decided to go up to the roof and check to see if the storms had caused any damage that needed seeing to. Thankfully either there was nothing to be taken care of or the tenants had done it for me. Either was likely.

Friday came and when I was just about finished with the halls Dana came waltzing through the front door.

"Why the hell didn't you call me to come get you?"

"Because despite what you might think I'm a big boy and I can walk 7 blocks by myself. Jeeze what are you my father?"

That hurt and wasn't like Dana at all.

"What's going on Dana? That's not like you."

"I'm sorry Jeff. I'm just a little pissed off. Somebody at the hospital decided it was up to them to convince me that being gay is evil. Just rubbed me so the wrong way."

"An employee or another patient,or a visitor?"

"Pretty sure he was visiting somebody on the ward."

"Then there's not a lot we can do about it. So, you and I know differently. We're just people like anybodyelse. Some are good folks and some are not and unfortunately there isn't a damn thing we can do about it."

"Yeah I know."

"So other than that how are you holding up?"

"Side still hurts a little but the doc says that's more tissue inflamation than the broken rib at this point. No lifting and he wants me to stay off my feet as much as possible for the next week."

"So I take it you don't want anybody to be nursemaiding you over the weekend?"

"Oh hell no. I'm able to take care of myself as far as that is concerned."

"And when you're able I'm going to teach you how to take care of yourself in a fight. The next Andrew that comes along should be the one going to the hospital."

"Jeff I'm not a fighter,I don't think I could do something like that."

"Well you should at least be able to keep them from beating the snot out of you. I'll keep it to defensive stuff only if that's more to your liking."

"I'll think about it Jeff. As invigorating as the walk from the hospital was, I'm going to go put my feet up."

"Sounds like a plan to me. You take it easy."

With Dana already home and not wanting to be "looked after" I was seriously considering heading out to my brothers. I checked my email to make sure somebody didn't need something and threw a few things in a bag. I left a notice that I was going to be away for the weekend so people knew what was going on.

I hiked to the train station and caught a train out of town. An hour later, seeing as the train made a multitude of stops, I was at my destination. I texted Mike and told him I'd be there in about 20 minutes and not to say anything to the boys.

When I reached the house I could hear the guys were out in the back yard. I walked up the driveway and along the garage to their fence. There was a bell there for folks to announce themselves. I rang the bell and and opened the gate.

My nephews stopped tossing their football around and stared at me for several seconds. When they finally realized who it was they both charged me and the three of us ended up in a pile on the ground.

I couldn't believe how much they had grown in the last 4 years and how much they had both filled out. They were bruisers now and Mike had been right about them being girl magnets.

"Uncle Jeff! What the hel.....heck are you doing here?"

"Your dad invited me for the weekend."

At which point said brother came out of the house. The three of us got up and Mike just looked at me for a few seconds before he came over and got me in a bear hug. Our family had always been huggers.

"Damn it's good to see you little brother."

"Good to see you too and these guys. What the hell have you been feeding them?

"Just about whatever they say they want. They both know nutrition better than I ever did. They've worked themselves into what they are today."

"Good on them. So where's my room and I want to hit that damn swimming pool. Do I have time before we eat?"

"Sure seeing as I'm going to get the grill going and we'll be eating out here anyway. Come on in and I'll show you."

I followed Mike into the house an he showed me the spare bedroom. I changed and headed back out side. What I saw when I got there was my nephews ready for a swim as well, but not the skin and bones kids I remembered from 4 years ago. Oh no. They were still lean but they had sure as hell been working out or something. Their muscle definition was impressive for teenagers. Hell they were ripped.

They both were giving me the eye and I had to wonder if there were another reason that Mike had called me.

The four of us hit the pool and there was the usual amount of horseing around and I didn't think anything about it. Mike eventually got out and started to grill up some burgers and dogs for us. Soon as that was done there were other things brought out from the house. Gary and Dan were right there helping as well. For some damn reason they all looked happy as hell,as if they were glad Gloria was gone.

Soon enough we were finished with dinner and the boys had cleared everything away and had gotten back into regular clothes. I had changed as well. Soon we were all just sitting around and nobody was saying anything.

"Ok Mike what's the other reason you got me out here?"

"Other reason?"

"Yeah other reason. These two are normally chatterboxes and right now they're both afraid to open their mouths."

"Well....... we were going to wait until tomorrow to talk about this, but I never could keep anything from you. Go ahead boys."

"Uncle Jeff... I don't know how to go about this without sounding like a jerk."

"Just spit it out Gary."

"Well lately at school there's been this group of guys who are picking on this kid.....because he's gay, or at least they think he is. Why would they do that? I mean we know you're gay but that doesn't stop you from doing regular guy things."

"This kid, I'm assuming he is a friend of yours?"

"Yeah he is."

"Well does he not like 'regular guy' things?"

"Not a lot of them."

"He's more into what?"

"Well he's really smart, hell I'm pretty sure he is going to be the class valedictorian."

"I'm betting he isn't really atheletic or sports oriented?"

"He keeps up in gym class most of the time. He's not afraid to shower up with the rest of us like one guy."

"None of the things I've mentioned make him gay,but it is easy for him to be percieved that way. Some guys are just so narrow minded that if other guys aren't just like them then there must be something wrong with them. I just don't really know what to tell you. Hell I knew I was gay when I was about your age,but that didn't stop me from playing football all four years of high school. Never stopped me from taking up a pick up game of baseball or basketball. Hell I even remember one olympic athlete who was gay."

"What makes someone gay?"

"Dan the so called experts have been arguing that one for who knows how long. As far as I know there hasn't been a satisfactory answer found yet. Hell identical twins have been known for one to be gay and the other straight. Raised side by side not treated differently from one another at all."

Gary Looked at Dan who both looked at Mike and then to me.

"Uncle Jeff..would you......would you be gay with us?"
