********************** Chapter Six

What is wrong with me? I try to ask myself. All things that happened last night was so unbelievable. Like, I actually slept with a pop star, and I had a chance to seduce Joey. But why in the world did I chicken out on sex?

"First time jitters." Davis said.

Meet Davis, old cohort of mine in my early days of college. Young, free-spirited, and straight as an arrow. Girls love him, guys diss him. In both ways, Davis comes off smoothly as Dr. Love, the guys who gives advice to many people...

And that includes me.

We were on the cafe, back to work, back to talking stuff. We were having lunch, and that they wanted to know about my previous exploit with my Joey, they still didn't know the real Joey, member of NSYNC.

And never I will tell them about Joey, maybe on the later time but not now.

"First time? Davis, I'm not a virgin anymore." I told him.

"First time since you had sex," he said, "Let me refresh your memory..."

"No way." I signaled him to stop talking.

"Can't you see? It's been a long time, and I bet the last time you did this was with..."

"NO!" I shouted.

"...Gerard."

Nice going Davis.

Oooohhh...

Sally couldn't help but say 'ooohh' in the matter of the subject.

"Puhleese, Davis, I think Jessie is soooo over Gerard," she said. "Why? Oh, don't tell me you've got yourself a lover?" Davis smiled, this time much more interested.

I just smiled, Sally was right, I was over Gerard when I met Joey. But of course, I still call Gerard my friend. Heck, we made a difference together.

"So who's the lucky guy?" Davis asked, excitedly. "Oh, nothing. Some guy I met in the NSYNC concert," I said, Davis was grinning so hard, probably his smile might reach to the sides of his face. That will look totally funny on him, but I can't blame him, this is like the first time he saw me in a very happy state of mind.

"Joey," "Nice name, lemme guess. Italian?" "Yeah, how'd you know that?" "Anyways, is this the guy you chickened out when he wanted to have sex?"

I wanted to change the topic, but it was an issue that I have to resolve. Then out of nowhere my cellphone rang. The ringtone version of NSYNC's 'Pop' filled around the room. People would look to where the sound come from, evidently people around the restaurant did look at me, where the sound came from.

"Hello?" I held the phone up in my ear. "Hey there, sexy," the voice answered... "What the hell..." I almost shouted, Sally and Davis looked on... "Whoa, Jessie, it's me Joey," he hollered.

Ok, first, my home phone number, then my cell phone number, my Joey does all things very extraordinary. Well, I smiled and Sally and Davis couldn't look any happier.

"Sorry. Like, I don't remember giving you away my cell phone number," I told him. "Au contraire, baby," trying to impersonate Austin Powers in an authentic Austin-nesque manner, horny I thought, "I still have your calling card, don't you remember?" He reminded him oh, holy crap. Why do I keep forgetting simple things. Is it the love thing that I have with Joey?

"Miss you, baby," he said. "So do I. So what's for tonight?" I asked.

Sally couldn't help but dig in through the conversation. "You're meeting him again?" I nodded at her.

"Typical day at the tour, but this is our last day in San Antonio, I thought we'd arrange a after-concert party." Joey said.

It didn't occur to me that this was NSYNC's last day here in San Antonio, leaving...

No. Joey is not going to leave me here. I want to be with him, forever.

"And?" "I want to you come, of course." He said, his sound was as extravagant as ever. But all I can think about is Joey leaving San Antonio. "Jessie?" "I'm still here, I was just thinking something." I told him. "Then stop thinking, come on out, let's go somewhere." Joey said.

Is that right? Joey asking me out on a date?

"Are you asking me out?" I questioned my man.

Both Sally and Davis were laughing hysterically, knowing all the audacity of our conversation, and they were loving it.

"I think so," Joey replied. "Ok. Here's my answer: pick me up here in the cafe, you know where it is." I said. "Sure, I know where it is," he said, "Be there in twenty minutes." "See ya!" I said goodbye to him.

"Is that Joey guy picking you up right now?" Sally asked. "I guess so," I said, "Isn't it exciting?" "For you only," Davis said, enthusiastically.

I could tell myself that I am very lucky to at least to have a boyfriend, be it a pop star or any regular guy. But come to think of it, I still consider Joey Fatone as a regular guy, he's human like the rest of us.

"Jessie, earth to Jessie?" Sally said, at the same time waving her hand in front of my face.

"I'm alive, in a sense of deep thinking." I reassured her that I wasn't loosing my noggins. Instead, I wanted to dooze off and think about my future with Joey.

So I guess, this is the best time to tell my friends that I'm dating Joey, the pop star, and that I know in their heads they would think that this thing is just a fling.

Maybe, maybe not.

"Davis, what can you say about flings?" I asked the guys who has all the answers. He looked towards me, place his elbows on the table, he knew the answer, but I thought it only applied two heterosexuals.

"Exciting, isn't it?" He said. "I thought so, because I think I'm in one." I told him, truthfully. "Don't say, it's been so long you've haven't been in a relationship..." "In English Davis," Sally suggested. Davis sighed in discontent, "Don't blow it this time."

Sally who was in a good mood because of her donuts thought something out. "Jessie, we all love you and that we'd be totally happy for you. And we see this having a boyfriend after so long is another step." "Oh, Sally, you don't know what's happening in my love life." I sprang up. "Of course not, but we have know is for your benefit, so don't sulk thinking it's not gonna last, think as if you can have this Joey guy forever."

"And for once you said something good for the humanity." Davis said, patting his hand on Sally's shoulder.

Eventhough they were thinking this relationship with this someone will last, but all of the circumstances of being a pop star. You don't get a private life, you only have like two to three weeks for a vacation and most of all you have to work hard or else you'll never regain that kind of star power, and I was referring to show business of which I don't know anything about.

All I can think about is Joey and the possibility of breaking up with him.

"Mr. Herrera, you are not breaking up with this guy," Davis reminded me. "There's too much stuff in my head. Ok, I'm dating a pop star."

"What!?" Both Sally and Davis looked at me. Then both of them started laughing. They thought it was a funny joke. "It's not funny, I'm telling the truth." I presisted. "Are you? Unbelievable." Sally said, she kept on laughing. "Really, I am, you guys know about NSYNC, right?" I asked them. They both nodded, then slowly they stopped laughing, "Remember the guy who has a weird facial hair in those posters in my room?"

Jeez, I sound like a little girl.

"Yeah, the Fatone guy? I heard they were in town for a tour," Sally said, "And the gay rumours, remember Jessie, you were thinking this NSYNC'er as you'd like to call them is not gay, right?" She surely remember the past three days. Sometimes, information stored in Sally's brain only lasts for like a day or so, but this was different, maybe it was the donuts.

"What's his first name of this Fatone guy?" Davis asked. Sally raised her hand, she wanted to answer the question so fast as she gobbled down another donut. "Joey, arrggghhh!" In a brief moment, tried to register what she said. "Joey? Jessie, are you sure you aren't making this out?" Davis asked again, to me.

Sally after standing up swallowed a hard piece of the donut and sat down again. "Joey? As in Joey Fatone? You're dating Joey Fatone?" Her eyes grew big in disbelief, her hands waving on the air, like a crazed parrot. "You are not? And he's gay?" Sally continued, "As if! No, I believe you're totally honest, you never lied in your whole life." "Yep, my kiddies, it's true. Oh, look, Joey's here!" As I averted my gaze to the door of the cafe. Joey, lumbering from his height, he was wearing a male version of the chinese cheomsam, with the side sleeves cut off, his arms big, firm, and toned, wanting to be wrapped around my body.

"Joey!" I stood up smiling.

Fortunately, hardly nobody inside the cafe recognized him. What is it about celebrities that they cannot be recognized in public places like the mall, or restaurants, even if they wear something laid out, and comfortable?

"Hey there, sexy!" Joey said. Then grabbing my hand for a handshake a bear hug. A smile formed on his face acknowledging my presence, without a second look, Joey gently placed his chin on my neck, a stubble weakly scratched my neck, a possible sign of a turn-on, and I was.

"Stop that, you're tickling me." I told my man, Joey. "Was I, ok, sexy, what did I miss?" He asked, looking to my friends, who were still sitting down in awe, their eyes big in disbelief, seeing I was telling them the truth, that NSYNC'er Joey Fatone is my boyfriend.

"Oh, Joey, these are two of my best friends here in town. Joey, meet Sally and Davis." I pointed my hand to my awe struck fellows. Joey smiled at them, extended his hand for a handshake. Davis was first...

"Joey, nice to meet you." Davis sid, in a manly fashion, approached me and whispered. "Jessie, I bet this is the perks of being gay."

And I giggled to what he said. Yes, something positive for sure.

"So where to?" Joey asked, he had the nerve to move his fingers to my face and started tickling my jawbone, I couldn't resist from laughing, but still maintained composure, as for Sally and Davis they couldn't help but to be amused to what my Joey is doing.

This prompted to look at Joey and gave him a quick smooch.

"Come on, lovebirds go on and galavant your way, we don't mind..."

It was Peter, seeing all the lovey-dovey stuff hooplah been going on in the cafe, I had to abide by Peter and the cafe's rule...

"Making out is not allowed in the premises." I sadly told him. "Maybe it's better if we go somewhere else." Joey suggested. "Yeah, I think so," looking at Sally and Davis, "And we'd better go now." I told him, without a second, we moved our butts off outside. We both waved goodbye to Sally and Davis, who managed to register all what was happening, I left upon their happy faces seeing me very happy with someone at last, something to look forward in my future.

So where to? As we walked by closely at each other, the summer breeze gently touched our faces as we lazily walk along the pathways of the town, trying to know each other.

This is heaven, I thought.

"You seem have a colorful life, Jessie," Joey said, his arms gently resting on my shoulder, a deep sense of security, a deeper sense of intimacy.

"No, not really, I do have my shares of mishaps." I told him. "But I do envy of your life Jessie, not that much worries, you get to finish your studies, I only managed to drop out college because of NSYNC." Joey said, his eyes gleaming staring towards my eyes. "Hey, at least people like you," I reassuringly try to cheer him up, "We have different lives, but I think fate brought us together," Joey smiled, "You think so?"

I definitely think so.

Joey decided to bring me to the hotel they were staying here in San Antonio, the hotel wans't that big, the biggest building so far here in my town.

Upon entering the lobby, trouble seemed to catch up, Justin Timberlake was there, he looked as if he was waiting for us.

"Look at you, together." He said. I don't whether I should laugh or get angry. "Hey there Curly," Joey responded, but kept his cool, "Where's the rest?" "They hang around town, I decided to stay here you know the fans." Joey nodded in agreement. Though I realized that the other members of NSYNC didn't get as much exposure than Justin, being the lead singer of the group. I bet the other members would do anything to put them in the spotlight.

But for my Joey, being with me is a sense of accoplishment.

Justin scooted to me and nonchalantly grazed his arm towards mine. I try not to lool at him, but then the electricity that filled my arm, knowing Justin is what I want, physically, but I feel more content with Joey.

Why can't I make up my mind? I love Joey but I want Justin.

You know there's a big difference between love and want.
