From Last Chapter:

It only took Jose and me about ten minutes to make it to the pond. We slowed down to a walk as we got close to the big shade tree where the boys like to hang out. We didn't see Aaron anywhere around the tree so Jose started to call out his name. The ground was still pretty soft due to the recent rains, so it was easy to find the horse prints leading in the direction of where the fence was broken. I was behind Jose as we rode along the fence line. About five minutes later my heart sank as I saw Aaron lying on the ground about twenty feet away from the fence line right where he was working.

*********** Chapter 60 ***********

Jose and I jumped down off our horses and ran over to where Arron was lying. As I ran up, I noticed a lot of woof prints in the ground, kind of in a big circle around were Arron was lying. When we reached Arron, I could see he was breathing but unconscious. I looked over his body looking for some kind of trauma but didn't see any obvious signs of injuries. Arron just looked like he had fallen asleep. I started looking more closely and that's when I noticed the blood on the ground near his head. I gently felt his head and as I went toward the back of his head I felt the blood. Jose saw the blood on my hands when I pulled them back and said something in Spanish that I didn't understand.

I had Jose kneel at Arron's head and hold his head still as I started feeling my way down Arron's body looking for any signs of any other injuries. I could hear the four-wheeler coming down the trail. I was glad to see it was just Steve when he came around the bend.

When Steve came to my side, I was looking at my cell phone and saw we were in a dead zone. I was relieved when I saw that Steve had a ranch radio with him. I told him to call back to the mess hall and tell them that we found Arron and that he is unconscious but is breathing and it looks like he has a head injury from hitting his head on a rock. Steve told me that Maria had already called the sheriff. I told him to make sure they had an ambulance on the way also.

As Steve was calling Maria on the ranch radio, I noticed the horses were acting strangely, pawing at the ground and neighing a lot as they moved around us. Jose seemed to want to get up and tend to the horses so I had Steve take his place once he got off the radio with Maria.

Jose got the horses secured and started to walk around looking around on the ground in the area around where all the hoof prints were. I had Steve gently lift Aarons head so I could get a better look at Arron's head wound. I didn't see or feel anything other than a good size cut on his head. I wrapped a towel that Steve brought with him, around Arron's head to control the bleeding. As I was doing this I was watching Jose move around the tree looking at the ground and was trying to figure out what he was looking for.

Just as I got the towel secured, I heard Jose say something in Spanish again and saw him holding something up in the air, as he was yelling something in Spanish. I guess Steve didn't hear Jose or couldn't understand him since he only speaks a little Spanish. Jose came running over to us still yelling something in Spanish and started pulling off Arron's boots. I think he realized that Steve and I didn't understand what he was saying and he began speaking in English saying, "Rattle Snake! Rattle Snake!"

I realized Jose was holding up a rattle snake and knew that we needed to check Arron for a snake bite. Jose had gotten Arron's boots off and I started to undo Arron's jeans. Steve was giving me a strange look and I realized he hadn't seen Jose hold up the snake and I hadn't told him what was going on. As I continued to undo Arron's jeans and belt I said, "Jose found a dead rattle snake over by the tree. We need to check Arron for a snake bite."

Steve was still holding Arron's head while Jose started to pull Aaron's jeans off from his feet. Once he had them off, I started looking up and down both of Aaron's legs, looking for a snake bit mark. I didn't see anything on the front side of his legs. With Steve holding Arron's head, we carefully rolled Aaron over on his right side and I saw a large red mark on the back of his right leg, just below his knee.

I said, "Found it! Looks like a pretty large bite. Let's roll him back on his back and set him up. We need to get his heart above the snake bite." I had been so focused on looking for a snake bite I didn't even realize that Aaron wasn't wearing any underwear and was now naked from the waist down except for his socks. Steve and I looked at each other and both knew the other was thinking, "Damn, Aaron has a nice cock!"

I had to shake my head to get focused again. "Let's get him into the four-wheeler, we need to get him to the hospital as soon as we can. Steve, keep his head still and Jose and I will lift his body into the back of the four-wheeler." Once we had Aaron in the back of the four-wheeler, with Steve stabilizing his head and neck, I jumped in the driver's seat and started back toward the mess hall. I grabbed the radio to let Maria know what was going on, "Maria, we are on our way back with Aaron. Let the EMS guys know that he was bitten by a rattle snake on the back of his lower right leg. He is still unconscious but his breathing is stable now and he has a pretty good size cut on the back of his head."

Maria answered, "The ambulance is pulling up now. I will let the know. Hurry back."

It only took us a few minutes to get back and the EMS guys were ready for us. Maria, Linda, and the boys were all standing right by the ambulance. Maria and Linda held the boys back so the EMS crew could do their job without them getting in the way. All four had tears running down their faces. Once EMS had Aaron in the ambulance, Steve and I went over to the boys and assured them that Aaron was going to be ok. Sean was holding Colby and Conner and Andrew jumped into our arms.

Jose just put our horses in the corral and came running up just as they were about to leave for the hospital. Jose hugged Maria before saying, "Mike, you and Steve take the boys in your truck and Maria, Linda and I will follow in my truck." It took us a couple of minutes to get the boys calmed down and get them moving to my truck. All four boys jumped in the back seat before Steve and I could get into the front. Jose spoke with the sheriff deputy and shook his hand thanking him for coming out as Maria and Linda went to get their purses, and but Max inside.

Once we were headed to the hospital, I looked over at Steve and asked him to call Aaron's parents to let them know what had happened. The boys were very quiet during the ride to the hospital. I said, "Guys, once we get there we won't be able to go in and see Aaron until they have him set up in his room. Once that happens, I'll see if we can get you guys into see him, ok?" They all just shook their head but didn't say anything. "You guys don't need to worry; I know the hospital has anti venom for rattle snakes for just this kind of thing."

It took us about thirty minutes to get to the hospital. We parked and all walked into the emergency waiting room. I went and spoke with the nurse at the check in desk and told her who we were. As a police office, I know most of the emergency room staff, so she told me to go on back. I went back to Steve and the boys to let them know that I was going to go back and check in with the doctor and see how long it would be before we can get into see Aaron.

I went back and found Aaron in a trauma room with an IV hooked up and a bandage on his head. I asked the nurse how he was doing. She said, "He's doing fine. We already started the anti-venom in his IV. All his vital signs are returning to normal. The doctor has ordered a CT Scan due to the head wound. Once he is back from that we will stitch up his head. I think he will be fine."

I went up to Aaron's bed side and took his hand in mine as I leaned down to whisper in his ear, "Aaron, your mom and dad are on the way. Steve and the boys are out in the lobby. We are all here for you and we all love you. You rest and let the docs take good care of you." I kissed him on the forehead and as I was about to let go of his hand I felt his hand squeeze mine a little. I looked back at his face and saw him trying to open his eyes. I leaned back down to his ear, "You scared the crap out of us young man. You rest and let the docs take care of you. I'll bring the boys back to see you as soon as the doc says I can." Aaron squeezed my again before I had to step back so the nurses could get him to the CT scan.

I told the nurse that he had squeezed my hand and tried to open his eyes. She smiled and said, "He's looks to be a strong young man. He will be just fine.". I went back to the lobby to give everyone an update, and saw Aaron's parents and younger brother walking in. I went over to them and told them that Aaron was fine as I walked them over to the rest of our group. "I just saw Aaron. He squeezed by hand and tried to open his eyes. They have him on an IV with the anti-venom and just took him to have a CT scan done since he hit his head. He is going to be fine, but I'm sure they will want to keep in here for a day or two to keep an eye on him."

Everyone started to hug everyone with a huge sigh of relief on their faces. It wasn't long before the nurse came out and told us they were moving Aaron to a regular room and once he was settled in, we could see him. We all moved up to the waiting area where his room was and about twenty minutes later another nurse came out to let us know that we could go in but only a few at a time. Of course, we let his parent and brother go in first while the rest of use stayed out in the waiting room.

After a bit, Aaron's parents came out and said Aaron was fine but kept falling asleep on them. I hadn't realized how late it had become with all that was going on. I looked at Steve saying, "Let's let the boys go in and see him for a few minutes so we can get them back home before it gets too late." I talked to the nurse and got permission to let all four boys go in at once but for just a few minutes.

The boys all went into Aaron's room and saw that his eyes were closed and his head was bandaged. Sean and Colby stood at the end of the bed as Connor and Andrew stood next to the bed on either side. Connor whispered to Aaron to see if he was awake. They all smiled when Aaron opened his eyes and tried to smile back. Sean said, "Man you scared the crap out of us when your horse showed up without you!" Aaron said, "Sorry, he reared up when he saw the snake and I ended up on the ground. My horse ran off a bit and that's when I saw the snake and as I turned to get away, I felt something hit my leg hard and I fell. Next thing I know I'm waking up in the emergency room, naked with all these nurses standing around me."

They all started to laugh and felt a bit of relief seeing that Aaron was able to joke about everything. Sean chimed in saying, "Well the nurses where not the only ones that got to see your junk. Grandma, Grandpa, Linda, and our dads all got an eye full since they had to de-pants you to find the snake bit and then as they carted you back in the Four-wheeler, I'm sure your big old cock was just bouncing all around for all to see. So, wish I was there to get that on video."

They all had a good laugh about Aaron's nakedness and there were a few more jokes that went around before a nurse came in and said that she needed to change Aaron's bandage. The boys said their goodbyes and all gave Aaron a hug before the left. When they came back to the waiting area we all decided that we would go for the night. Steve and Maria went in to spend a few minutes with Aaron and tell him that we would come back to see him after church in the morning.
