From Chapter 31

"So – you'll kiss me?" asked Jeremy.

"What – right here in front of everyone?!"

Kevin quipped, "Sounds fair to me!"

Nick looked at me - - I nodded. Jeremy didn't move. Nick beckoned to him. "C'mere, Jeremy." At that, Jeremy - - almost in slow motion, moved in in Nick, and their noses collided. Nick cocked his head, Jeremy going the opposite way. Nick kissed Jeremy. Jeremy was stunned for a moment, and then he pulled Nick into a close body hug, and kissed him with all he had.

"Sheee-yit!" said Kevin in his best Cable Guy impression. That there was a kiss – that was!"

They came up for air. Jeremy's eyes were downcast, seemingly studying his feet. (and there were SO many other "things" under the water to look at!) Then he said to no one on particular - - "I guess that explains a lot!"

Chapter 32

Carston, Ever the last to get anything, said, "What - what explains what?" with a querulous smile on his face.

Jeremy looked at him as if in a trance. Then he said, "I guess I'm - I'm - "

"Yeah, you're gay, dude." Said Kevin. "You're SOOO gay!"

Tears sprang from Jeremy's eyes. "But what am I going to tell Emily?"

"Is that your girlfriend?" I asked.

"More like my fiancée." He said dejectedly.

"She's your fiancée and you – didn't know - "

"We never touched each other before we were engaged. It was her idea. Her young women's advisor told all the girls that it would be better that way."

"And – since you have been engaged?" said Kevin. We were all in sympathy mode – except for maybe Carston. I doubt he even knew there was such a thing.

"We've kissed." Said Jeremy, almost hopefully.

"Did you like it?"

"Yeah – it was okay".

"M-hm." Said my brother. "Did you kiss her like you just kissed Nick?"

"Not even close!"

"So, what was different?" asked Kevin.

Carston quipped, "Did she kiss YOU like Nick just did?"

Jeremy only blushed.

"What was different?" Kevin persisted.

"Um – well – first, we didn't open our mouths and so – no tongue." He blushed and looked at Nick. Nick's face darkened (that's all vamps can manage!) and looked at me for a split second, then down at his feet. "Secondly – it didn't do this to me!" Jeremy said turning even darker looked at his still rigid member.

"You're in love, aren't you?" said Carston.

Both Nick and Jeremy together, said, "Nuh-uh!" Neither could look at anyone. I was getting a sinking feeling, when -

Nick quickly grabbed my hand and raised it. "THIS is my man!" He looked into my eyes. His eyes were pleading for forgiveness.

I wrapped him in my arms and kissed him even more passionately than his kiss with Jeremy – I HAD to eradicate that kiss from his brain and body!

"That there's a kiss, too!" quipped my brother.

I made sure I sat between Nick and Jeremy. Nick bent over and almost around the front of me to tell Jeremy, "I had to do the same thing – break up with my fiancée, yah know."

"How did you do it?"

"Yah just gotta do it!" said Nick. "It hurt like the devil, especially to see the hurt in her eyes - but I knew I couldn't pretend. And really, Jer, two people change so much in two years! That's why so many of our comps got dear johns!"

"That's for sure." Said Jeremy. "Most of the ones I knew were much better missionaries after their girlfriends cut them loose!" Then he got a horrified look in his eyes. "Omigosh! What – er – how am I gonna tell my parents?"

"There again, I had the same fears." Said Nick. "When I finally got up the courage – and believe me, I was shakin' in my shoes (!) – Do you know what they said?"

Jeremy was almost hypnotized – in rapt attention! "What?" he said, eyed as round as saucers.

"They said, `We wondered when you were gonna tell us'!"

"Nuh-uh!"

"Yeah-huh!"

"I promise you mine won't tell me that!" I'll have to wait until I do some spectacular touchdown at BYU – then I'll tell them – ON THE PHONE!"

"Dude." said Nick, gently, "You can't play football for anyone, anywhere!"

"Huh? What? Why? WHY?"

"You have an unfair advantage, Jeremy." He said gently.

Jeremy put his hands to the sides of his head. "I feel like any minute I will explode." He exclaimed.

"But you know it's true – right?"

"Yeah – DAMMIT, Elder! YOU were always the practical one! That'll kill my dad – maybe more than – the first revelation!"

"You have three revelations, Jer."

"What?!! What else do I have to tell them?"

"Think about it, Jeremy. Think hard." Said Nick, again gently and sweetly. "What else will be new to them?"

"No! I can't ! My mom would – faint!" Mike, Nick and I all giggled at that. "WHAT!? What's so danged funny?" He said heatedly.

"That's exactly what MY mom did. She barely came to when I disappeared into the kitchen and reappeared balancing the fridge on one hand. She fainted again."

"What did your dad do?"

"Pretty much stood there with his mouth open. Good thing Mike was there to catch her both times and keep her head from hitting the coffee table! And by the way – I told them about being gay – last. After all the rest of my revelations, well you know how they handled that."

"But you said they had already figured it out. My parents don't have a clue!"

"I'll bet your mom does." I said.

"Huh?"

"How many good friends did you have in high school?"

"Two – maybe three."

"How many were guys?"

Jeremy slowly folded his arms – looked almost like he was getting ready to pray. He looked intently at me. "They – they were all girls."

"How many girls did you go with – not date – actually go with?"

"There was – no, but then there was – nope! Emily! She was it!"

"All your friends were girls – and you didn't have a girlfriend - I'll bet until you senior year."

"Actually it was after I graduated high school! Oh – My – Gosh! I didn't have a clue!" Cried Jeremy. "Did you, Nick?"

"Nope!"

"Mikey and Kye were there when I told my parents."

"Told them what?"

"Pretty much everything. That may have also made it easier."

"I wish you could be there when I tell Mom and Dad."

"Why can't we?"

"Do you know where I live?"

"Where?" asked Nick.

"Modesto!"

"So?" Said Nick. "How did you get here?"

"Drove."

"Why?"

"Train is too expensive."

"How much does running cost?"

"Huh?"

"I was with you for 3 months on our mission. I never picked up that you were so dense."

"Now you're just trying to hurt my feelings." Said Jeremy.

"How fast can you run, Jer?"

"Faster than - - oh! I'm embarrassed!"

"We can run up there in less than an hour." Said Nick, "And not even work up a sweat."

"I - I don't sweat." Nick just stood there with a smirk. "Oh. I guess you knew that."

"Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet Nick and Kyle. Nick and I were comps on our missions."

"Oh, how wonderful, Jerry!" His mom said.

"Nick, Kyle, this is my mom and dad, Brother and Sister Snow."

We shook hands and exchanged our hellos. "I was just going to call you, Dear." Said Sister Snow. "I haven't heard from you since you drove to Southern California. So this is your Nick!"

At that remark, I momentarily shot a quick look at Nick. He darkened, and had a bewildered look on his face.

"I've been gone less than a week, Mom." Said Jeremy.

She continued, "Anyway, I'm so glad you brought Nick home to meet us. And you, too, Kyle. Have you been over to see Emily, yet?"

"No, ma, I've just - "

"Don't you think she – oh! Where's your car? I didn't see you drive up!"

Jeremy looked panicky. I quickly said, "We – er- parked around the corner. Jeremy wanted to surprise you." In an instant, it occurred to me that he's only been gone a week. Why would he be surprising them.

"Oh – what's the occasion, Son?" Said Brother Snow.

"Uh, oh! Um – er - "

"What's going on, Jeremy?" Said his dad. "Are you all right?"

Jeremy looked like he was going to have a mental breakdown. In an instant he was gone – disappeared.

Jeremy's mom quickly lost her legs and sat down on the chair just behind her. His dad just kept looking between Nick and me and where Jeremy had been standing. "Where has our son gone?" He said, somewhat worried, and somewhat – well – not amused!

"I think I might know." Said Nick. At least he had the presence of mind to walk toward another room. I assumed that he saw where Jeremy went.

We heard them talking, heatedly. Just as Brother Snow was moving to toward where Nick went, they reappeared – in the normal way. Jeremy still looked petrified, but Nick had his hand reassuringly around his shoulders.

"What the HELL just happened?!" Demanded Brother Snow. Both Jeremy and Sister Snow looked shocked – I assume because of the language.

Jeremy was still speechless, so Nick said, "I think Jeremy has something to tell you."

All eyes were on Jeremy. He took several deep breaths, then squeaked something, cleared his throat, then said, "Well, um – as Nick just said, I – um have an – um announcement – of sorts."

"Stop mumbling and tell us what it is, Jeremy!" Said his father.

"Don't yell at him, George!" said his mother, suddenly finding some strength, as her son needed an ally.

"I'm sorry, Son." Said a repentant Brother Snow. "It can't be THAT bad can it?"

"I hope you feel that way after I tell you."

"Jeremy, we love you," said his dad, "just tell us and let us determine if it is that bad."

"Mom – Dad – I – I – (AHEM!) (Sigh) I can't – can't - " he broke down momentarily, but they waited. "I can't go to BYU – or at least I can't play football for them." Tears were coursing down his face.

"WHAT!!??" His dad roared. "Why?!"

"George!" said Sister Snow urgently. "Let the boy speak!"

"I – er – I mean – I have an – um – an unfair advantage."

"Jeremy, no one has an unfair advantage! WHAT? What nonsense is this?"

Finally Jeremy seemed to get his composure back. "Dad, did you see how fast I went into the den?"

"Of course – I mean no! What – I – we didn't even see you leave! What's going on?"

"Yes," said Sister Snow, "how DID you do that trick?"

"It wasn't a trick, Mom. It was – um – show them again, Nick."

Nick was immediately gone.

"Wha – what? Said Jeremy's dad, "Do you have some sort of transporter – like on Star Trek?"

"No, Dad – we're just fast." Nick reappeared on the other side of Jeremy. Both Jeremy's parents were on their feet again during the last exchange. "Better sit down." Sister Snow sat. "Both of you!" Brother Snow slowly sat down next to his wife. Jeremy again took a deep breath. "When Nick and I were in Romania, we took a short cut through a wood. We were told to stick to the traveled paths, - it was against mission rules, but we figured what could happen – we both being college bound football players."

"Jeremy – how many time have we warned you - "

"George, shut up and let him finish!" Commanded his heretofore meek wife.

"We were surrounded by – well – two guys."

"Surrounded by two guys – and you couldn't - "

"GEORGE!!"

"These guys weren't normal. First of all they just appeared. One second they were not there and a split second later they were standing in front of us."

"Oh my goodness – just like you and Nick did to - "

"Let him finish, Helen."

Anyway, they overpowered us. We didn't stand a chance. They had fangs – like dogs."

"Or more to the point – Vampires." said Nick. He looked at Jeremy. Something transpired between them. Nick took over the narrative. "They had their way with us."

"They raped you?" asked George! Helen shrieked.

"They raped us – yes – but also, they bit us – on the neck. They drank some of our blood. And – I guess – they also must have put something into our blood as well."

"What? They turned you into Godless vampires?" said George, "What am I saying – vampires don't even exist!" He looked between Nick and Jeremy. "They DO exist? So your telling us that you too are Godless - "

"STOP!" cried Nick. All eyes were on him. "Sister and Brother Snow – like so many other things, the idea of vampires has been over told, and each time it gets worse. We finished up our missions – 11 months – and we came home. We don't cringe from sunlight. We don't even sparkle! But (and please don't faint again Sister Snow) we HAVE developed some characteristics that are extraordinary."

"Like what?" said George.

"Well, you saw how fast we are. And we have – fangs now. The guys that attacked us had much longer ones. I assume ours will grow like theirs have. But we have them."

"Show us!" Demanded George.

"Can't do it." Said Nick. "If we did, we'd have to kill you." Both George and Helen's eyes hit the ceiling.

"Bad taste, Nicky!" I said. "He's kidding."

"Sorry." Nick said. Jeremy was smiling though. Smiling enough that his fangs DID show.

"Oh my goodness!" Said Helen.

"Another thing that is different," said Jeremy, (Oh no! He wouldn't tell them about that – would he?) "We can't have children."

"Oh, Jeremy!" His mother cried.

"We could adopt." He said looking straight at Nick.

Nick said, "I'm with - " I scowled at him. Luckily he saw me! "I agree with Jeremy. I would definitely want to adopt."

"I was afraid you were going to tell us that you are gay!" said George.

"Oh?" said Jeremy. "What if I had?"

It was George's turn to sigh. "To tell you the truth – I probably would have become all irate, self righteous and judgmental and kicked you out. Boy, I've got some quick repenting to do! As it is, after all you've told us – I guess I would have to say – what could be worse than learning that your son can't play football?"

We all laughed at that!

"Mom – Dad – I'm gay."

George laughed. "Of course you are – and you're in love with Nick, I suppose!" He laughed again.

"No – really, Dad – I am gay."

His dad stared at him to be sure he was serious, then he head hung low. After another sigh, he said, "I really DO have some repenting to do and maybe – some fences to mend. Most of my high priest buddies have been giving me a bad time on my stance against gays. Even the church leaders have come out and said we should not castigate our family members for being gay – or anything else, for that matter. They are always members of their families – YOU will always be a member of MY – OUR family, Jerry. And we love you – unconditionally!"

Jeremy flew into his dad's arms, both of them crying, then Sister Snow joined them. "You knew – didn't you, Helen?"

"I was a little worried – about that and about – Emily. She's going to be devastated."

"I'll tell her – at least that we can't be married. Please don't tell anyone else about the rest of all this, Dad – and Mom. That's for me to do – when and if I am ready to."

"Don't worry, son, your secret – your SECRETS – are safe with us. Are you gonna tell the Bishop?"

"Yeah – I know I can trust Bishop Miller. At least about being gay. I doubt the rest is important to tell him."

"You may be excommunicated." Said George

"Ohhh – NOOO!" cried Helen.

"Why? I haven't done anything to deserve excommunication. If I do some day – I'll deal with it at that time."

"I think it's time for some ice cream sundaes!" said Brother Snow.

"Is that a Mormon thing – to celebrate bad news with ice cream sundaes?" I asked. They all laughed!

Dammit I wanted to know!

Notes: Not sure if it's a Mormon thing, but you can be sure they'll bless it to make them healthy and strong! And also bless those who need to travel home in safety!
