LLL – Chapter 27 – Whatever the Reason – Breaking Inside

Lucas Bear's POV

"Hey..." I walked up to Shyla. "You're in my spare right?"

Shyla smiled. "Ya, you're not in the library much, though."

I blushed. "Ya, not really..." How are you expected to ask out a girl when she makes a comment like that?

Yes, I am actually asking out a girl. My brother doesn't know, but I'm sure the moment he does he'll ring me a new one. Blake will seriously kill me. If Shyla and I actually get off, he'll hate me for sure.

"So, what's up Lucas?" She asked me.

I scratched the back of my head and giggled. I'm nervous okay... "I was wondering what you were doing this Friday?"

She looked at me for a second. "You seriously want to go out with me on Friday?" I nodded. "Don't get me wrong when I ask this but aren't you into guys?"

"I'm bi... or I was bi."

Shyla put a hand on her hip. "You were bi, so what are you now?"

"I'm straight. I was just experimenting with Nick; that's over now." Shyla gave me a very skeptical look. "I swear."

She rolled her eyes. "Pick me up at 5:30 PM. No later or I'm not going out. Give me a sec and I'll give you my phone number." True to her word she handed me her phone number. I sent her a 'Lucas' to confirm it was my number. "Okay, I'll text you my address in a bit."

She walked off with a smile. I got a date with Shyla! I actually did it!!

And just to ruin my moment Rita passed by. "Still don't think your straight, dude."

"Shut up Rita." She rolled her eyes. "Your opinion doesn't matter to me."

She rolled her eyes. "Sure it does, or else this wouldn't be happening." What the fuck does she mean by that? "You wouldn't be trying to reconcile with your papa if I hadn't had said anything. You'd still be in bed with Nick everyday fucking his ass till you both cum. It's sickening really Lucas."

Sick and tired of Rita's bullshit. She's such a bitch to me about me and my dad's relationship. "Why don't you go fuck yourself, Rita. Nick is an amazing guy, who can get ten times the guys your ugly ass can. He's a kind person and much better person than I'll ever be. You're just jealous that you can't find a guy like that because you're a whore."

I turned around, and there was Nick standing there. He just looked at me with a slight smile on his face. I just walked passed him, with a smile on my face too. I still like Nick, just... I can't be with him. Not if I want a relationship with my dad.

Isaac Adams' POV

"Okay, sit here and listen okay? No judging me until I'm done." Today is the day I decided I was gonna tell Nick about Dakota. Well... Nick and Shane and Zach. We were kinda having a big sleep over at Nick's place.

Zach decided to smirk. "What's up in the dramatic life of Isaac? Is it about Antoine?"

I shook my head. "No, but he did tell his parents a while ago. So we're closer to officially dating." The entire room cheered for me. "Anyways, this has something to do with when we were in grade 8."

"Which part of grade 8?" Nick gave me a knowing look. Okay, I might have been a bit of an asshole in grade 8... sue me.

"Shut it and listen!" Nick gave out a giggle and then complied. "So when I was discovering my sexuality I went on a lot of gay chat roulette sites. Yes, they are covered with horny older men. I found a guy, around my age on there, and we started talking a lot."

"A guy your age?" Zach asked. I nodded. "Lucky find, what's his name?"

"Dakota, and no it wasn't a lucky find." Everyone looked at me confused. "He's a nut."

Shane tilted his head. "How is he a nut?"

"He assumes things and basically said we were dating even when I told him we weren't. Like I feel bad about it but he's just crazy." Shane giggled. I just rolled my eyes.

"Sounds nutty but doesn't sound really nutty, just like a misunderstanding." Zach gave his input

Nick giggled. "So does Kale or Antoine know about this Dakota?"

"Nope! As far as I'm concerned Antoine doesn't need to know. I'm never going to talk to him again." That's not a lie, if I can help it, I'll never hear from him again. "I just wanted to tell someone about it. Didn't want to keep it anymore."

"So wait..." Zach scratched his head. "You had a secret boyfriend for the past three years and just told us? The things we learn about Isaac!"

I rolled my eyes. "Am I really all that interesting?"

Zach smiled. "Ya, only because you never talk about yourself. I'm good friends with Kale, and even he had trouble getting things out of you. He sometimes would come and complain about it to me." Really? I had no idea Kale did that.

There were plenty of times when Kale would press at what was bugging me. He would constantly ask me 'what's wrong?' or 'what's on your mind?'. When I would get mad at him for asking he would just say, "I just worry is all. I want to know what bugs you, that way maybe there is something I can do to help." and smile. I would then tell him whatever was bothering me, and somehow he made it better.

"He really did that?" I asked Zach.

He nodded. "Every once in a while. He always said that even though it bugged him, it was just another thing that made him like you. He asks how you're doing all the time by the way." I blushed. Knowing that Kale still wanted to know how I was... it seemed pointless... but it shows how much he cares.

Shane interrupted my thoughts. "So how are you and Antoine doing?"

"We're doing good... he told his parents about himself the other day. We can finally snuggle in peace." The joy in my voice was clear. "I don't think his parents have connected the dots about us, though."

Nick suddenly came into the conversation. "Mattieu seemed to take Annie's passing hard." He was right. Mattieu was taking it really hard. He didn't show up to school the first couple of days after it happened. I would get it if he were family, but he's not...

The room got really quiet for a while. When something like that gets brought up what do you say really? I don't know!? Don't ask me!

"I hear him, and Leo had a thing going on..." Shane provided insight. "He might feel guilty about that. It would make sense."

"Hope he isn't beating himself up too badly over it." I seriously hope he isn't. "Something's you just can't stop from happening." I could be referring to either action with that one. Which one am I, though... I don't even know that.

Nick Bells' POV

I woke up from the sleepover a little earlier than everyone else. I was up and downstairs watching TV. Well... watching is a relative term, I just turned it on. I have no idea what's actually on, but it's on.

Still half asleep, someone came up behind me and quickly placed their hands on my shoulders and yells. "AH!" I jumped and turned to hit them. Zach was giggling like a little school girl. "You had the best look on your face."

"You're a jerk, Zach." Zach shook his head back and forth before jumping over the couch and sitting beside me. "You're up early."

"Ya, I'm used to getting up early with Tyson and school." Zach grabbed the remote and went to check what was on. "So how are you holding up?"

I looked away from Zach. "I'm doing fine..."

"Come on; tell me what's going on. I've gotten a little bit from Shane, but I wanna hear it from you."

"What have you heard?"

"That Lucas has asked out Shyla; you've gone on a date with Jayce, and that you have no idea what you're doing." He's right on all three counts. Which is why my life sucks right now... so very much. "So how was the date with Jayce?"

I sighed. "It was actually really good. Which is why I have no idea what I'm doing. He was so nice, and it was a perfect date... I just..."

"Still have feelings for Lucas." I nodded. Zach was right on that, I still really like Lucas... it's not that easy getting over someone. Especially since we spent the last three years trying our best to stay together.

"My advice would be, do what your head says, Nick. The heart can blind the mind to what's happening, trust your head and you can't go wrong." Zach just smiled and chose a show. After that, it was silent, except for the TV. Everyone slowly got up and joined us downstairs.

One of these days I gotta do something... something to decide my future.

"Bells!" Jayce...

It has been a few days, and I'm currently walking down the hallway trying to get to my next class. Jayce decided it was a good time to interrupt me and talk, I guess. "Yes, Jayce?"

I turned around and waited for him to catch up. "What are you doing this weekend?"

I shrugged. "I don't know... haven't thought about it yet." I tried to continue to my class, but Jayce stopped in front of me. "Jayce, I'm gonna be late for class."

"Just one second okay?" I sighed and gave him my attention. "Would you like to go to the carnival with me? I'll pay for everything."

"Jayce, I was planning on going with Isaac."

"And be a third wheel. He's obviously going out with Antoine." Isaac hasn't said anything to anyone and now Jayce wants to tell me this in an attempt to get me to go out with him? No thanks.

"Two things. Telling me that you know this isn't helping you. Secondly, I don't mind being a third wheel." I walked away from him as quick as my legs could take me.

He might be nice on dates, but he's just not the same at school. I know I am being a bit too sensitive about these things... but I don't care right now.

Tyson Jackson's POV

I stood in front of my dad's office, not sure how to ask my dad something. See since those slips to get my dad to myself have been brought to existence, I haven't used a single one. Today, I want to change that.

I turned and looked at the doorway, there they were. Ten tickets just sitting in the door frame waiting to be used. I guess the only way to use them is to present them right?

So that's what I did. I grabbed one and placed it on my dad's desk. Not going to lie, I'm very nervous as my dad looks up at me. "Yes, Tyson?"

His eyes were on me, and only me. I had his undivided attention, and I don't know how to talk now. "I... well... this weekend..."

"Tyson speak up. Stuttering and pondering isn't going to get you anywhere in life. Speak loud and proud, that's the only way to get people to listen." My dad smiled as he gave me advice.

I took a deep breath and spoke again. "The carnival is this weekend, and I want you to join Zach, Shane, Taylor and I." I was still nervous. I know he promised to do anything that I wanted for these tickets, but this felt like a huge thing to ask for.

"When does the carnival start again? 3pm?" Dad went through his papers on his desk.

He looked through them for a minute or so before I spoke up. "3:30 pm."

"Ah yes! That sound right!" Dad put his papers down. "I'll be able to go down until six for sure. Depending on how much of my report I have done before then, I might be able to stay longer."

"Oh... okay." Why am I not surprised that he can't do it all?

"Honey..." I heard mom from behind me. "The carnival is a once a year thing, and Tyson will grow up soon and not even want us down there. I think you can spend the entire day with us."

"You're going too?" Dad asked mom.

"Since I just heard about it, yes I am. I probably won't go on any rides, but I will come down and have a little fun. Work isn't absolutely everything." OMG, I LOVE YOU MOM.

Dad smiled and nodded. "Okay, carnival it is this weekend. For now I need to get back to work to clear things up for Saturday."

I left my dad's office with a huge smile on my face. This is the best thing ever! I love these cards!

Mattieu Rieu's POV

No matter how I process it, I feel like I'm to blame about Anthony. Without me, Leo wouldn't have cheated on him... Je suis tellement stupide!!

I've been in my room as much as I could for the past few days... I haven't done much at all... just been by myself.

My door partially opened, and Emile's face appeared through the crack. "Mattieu?"

"Yes, Emile?" I growled.

"Le dîner est prêt" Emile backed up from the door. I don't want dinner anyways. "Are you okay Mattieu?"

"I'll be up in a minute." I threw my blanket over myself hiding myself from the world.

I didn't hear him leave. In fact, I heard him close the door and walk over to my bed. "What's wrong grand frère? You can tell me..."

"Go away, Emile."

"No!" My littlest brother spoke strongly. "You've been like this since that kid passed away. What's going on!?"

"Emile, get out of my room!!" I screamed at my brother, flipping my blanket off of me as I did. He didn't even flinch. Emile continued to stare at me with all his fury.

"You're not that scary. What's scary is almost being raped. Leo, that kid's boyfriend saved me from being raped and got raped himself. That's what scary Mattieu. You've gotten sad since that kid passed away, now tell me why or I'm telling maman et papa!" Man, my little brother is serious.

So I told him about Leo and me. I told him that it was my fault that they broke up, and that was a catalyst to what happened... We were downstairs for almost an hour by ourselves. Dinner was probably long gone; plates for us would be in the fridge.

After I was done, Emile gave me a hug. "It's not your fault."

"And why is that?"

"You couldn't have known what would happen. Yes, you knew that they would break up more than likely. But you couldn't have known this result. You can't blame yourself for something that you couldn't have seen coming." Emile smiled. "The unknown is nothing to beat yourself up over."

"Stop being more mature than me."

Emile smiled. "Welp I'm hungry, going to eat now. Need any more cheering up I'll be munching."

"Thanks, Emile..." I laughed as he left the room. Seriously, thanks, Emile...

Chapter End.

So I'm trying something new, having all the talking at the end of the chapters. Sorry, this chapter is short, but it's about setting up the next bit of the story. (and I couldn't think of anything else) >.>

As for other news, I have a survey up! https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XK3SCHJ is the link. If you have like... 5 minutes of time to spare, please spend it telling me what you think of The "Life" Series in general.

Update for me, I'm on vacation in Calgary until the 17th, and then I'm back to works, yes works. I will get updates out soon, though! I promise!

Thanks for reading!!
