Chapter Eight

This story is a spin off from The adventures of Cliff & Derek. Michael you may recall was responsible for putting Cliff in hospital with some horrific injuries. Here we tell you his story.

Please note this story contains boy to boy sexual activity and if you don't enjoy this kind of story read no further.

This story is also based on actual events but all the names and locations have been changed to protect those involved.

We couldn't have been any happier lying in bed together just as daylight was beginning to brighten the bedroom. Robert stirred, leaning over to kiss me.

"Hey darling as working men we've gotta get up and go."

I groaned wishing we could have few more hours in bed and maybe a bit of marital exercise.

We bathed, shaved and all that stuff, dressed and Robert made a quick breakfast for us. We were home alone because Roberts older sister was staying with friends in town while his parents were away. His father usually drove her to work so it was easier to stay down in town.

We were just getting ready to leave the house when there was a knock on the door. Robert went to answer it, coming back into the kitchen with two police men one was an inspector and the other was our police friend Steve.

"Hi Steve" I said, "What brings you out so early."

I thought it was strange that Steve just nodded but didn't say a word.

The other policeman introduced himself as Inspector Dave Trower and he suggested that we all sit down.

Robert and I looked at each other questioning "What's the problem Inspector?" Robert asked.

"There is no other to put this but to say I have some bad news for you, I'm sorry Robert but your parents were involved in a motoring incident on the Devon, Cornwall border."

Robert went deadly white and I moved to put my arm around him.

"Are they ok, have they been injured?

"I'm sorry they both died from their injuries before they could be transported to hospital."

"Dead, my parents are dead?"

Steve moved around to sit the other side of Robert.

"I'm sorry Robert please accept our condolences." The inspector continued.

Robert and I looked at each other not believing or not wanting to believe what we had just heard.

The news slowly started to sink in, tears formed in Robert's eyes and I could feel them welling up inside me as well.

"How could two lovely people like mum and dad leave here yesterday morning, happy to be able to spend a few days away suddenly be dead within 24 hours, It's not fair, it's just not fucking fair."

He started to cry his head on my chest and I joined him sobbing my heart out. Steve I think it was got up and made us a cup of strong coffee while the Inspector asked about his sister and then made arrangements on the phone for a policewoman to contact her.

"How, how did it happen?" Robert asked between sobs.

"Reports are a bit sketchy but it appears the car skidded on a patch of black ice and crashed into a tree."

(Black ice is ice which forms on roads in very cold weather. Being clear ice it is impossible to tell until you start skidding.)

We both sat there in each others arms sobbing for what appeared to be a long time.

Bad news spreads like wildfire in a small village like this and it wasn't long before Bill, the foreman and Shirley the office girl arrived in a state of shock.

Bill told Robert that he had given all the staff the day off. I can vaguely remember him saying something like that but Robert had no idea what was going on around him. Cliff's mum arrived next, joining us in crying at Robert's and lets face it my loss. The vicar came in sometime during the morning as well along with several parishioners . All this was a haze, finally I think about midday mum suggested that I take Robert up stairs and we have a lie down. She gave us both a couple of pills that the doctor had sent round.

Steve helped us both upstairs and into bed. We lay in each others arms sobbing and crying until the pills took effect and we drifted off to sleep.

I think we slept right through till next morning when mum came into the bedroom with two hot mugs of tea.

Both of us felt a bit better, except Robert wouldn't let me out of his sight.

"You're the only one I've got left now Michael, please don't leave me."

"I'll never leave you Robert." I replied

We dressed and went downstairs to find Bill and Shirley there.

"Do want me to keep the business running as normal?" Bill asked.

Robert replied, "Yes please, I'll have to sit down with you soon and work out what we're going to do."

Shirley asked him to sign a couple of cheque's so she could organize the pays, plus a couple of urgent bills had to be paid.

Both of them stood around looking a bit anxious.

"Is there anything else. We need to talk about." Robert asked.

"Well, some of the men are wondering what is going to happen to the business, they are scared that they are going to be out of a job."

Robert thought about this for a while before saying, "Tell them at this stage it is business as usual, I suppose we will have to make some decisions when we read dads will."

Robert paused to let that bit sink in.

"He told me only last week that he had seen his solicitor and had his will updated, but I didn't think it would be read so quickly."

He burst into tears unable to hold them back any longer and I took him in my arms.

Bill and Shirley excused themselves assuring Robert that they would keep the business going until they heard from him.

"Your lucky to have two trustworthy people like that."

He nodded still leaning on me sobbing. Just then a knock on the door had mum answering it to find the same police inspector and Steve.

They came into the kitchen to tell us that the local undertaker (who also sang with us in the church choir) had contacted them asking when the bodies could be picked up.

Robert thought for a minute then said, "But I haven't spoken to any undertaker yet."

Mum said, "He called late yesterday and said if it was ok he would handle all the arrangements."

There was silence for a few minutes then Robert said, "There are some very kind people in this village."

The inspector then asked if it was in order for the undertaker to travel down to Devon and collect the bodies.

It sounded so impersonal talking about them like that but what else could he say.

They left and we sat around not saying much but continuing to hang on to each other.

The phone rang with mum answering it.

"It's your father's solicitor Robert he would like to talk to you."

Robert moved over to the phone in a complete daze. He spoke and did a lot listening before hanging up.

"What did he say?" I asked.

He's coming round tomorrow to talk about the will, he said because of the running of the business we needed to talk about the will as quickly as possible."

Once again we sat around in silence each with our own thoughts.

Robert spoke up after what seemed an awful long time.

"I think I'll go and lay down, will you come with me please Michael."

I nodded gave mum a kiss, suggesting that she goes home and I will look after Robert.

My lover stood at the bottom of the stairs while I said goodbye to mum. He refused to go anywhere with out me in his sights.

I must admit this was beginning to freak me out.

Back in our bedroom he flopped onto the bed laying on his back gazing at the ceiling not saying anything.

I laid down beside him looking at him until his eyes got heavy and he drifted off to sleep. I too slept for a while. It was dark when I awoke, turning to look at Robert I noticed he was still sleeping soundly so I got out of bed to go to the bathroom. No sooner had I sat on the toilet when I heard this blood curdling scream. I raced into the bedroom to find Robert standing by the side of the bed screaming my name.

I put my arms round him asking what was wrong, he looked at me and burst into tears,

"I'm sorry my darling I woke and you weren't there I thought you had left me and I don't want to live any longer without you."

With tears rolling down his cheeks he clung to me begging me to never leave him.

I assured him that I would never ever leave, that I loved him so much, I would always be at his side.

I persuded him to lie back on the bed assuring him again that I would always be there for him.

I suggested that I go down stairs and prepare a hot drink and maybe some toast for us both.

"I'll come down with you ," he said. I was going to protest telling him that he should stay in bed, but I realized that for the time being he wanted to be with me all the time.

Down in the kitchen I made some hot chocolate and buttered toast which we gobbled down realizing that we were both very hungry.

We never made it back upstairs and finished up lying on each others arms on the lounge.

It was barely light when the call of nature woke me up, I lay there for a while wondering how I was going to get to the toilet and back without waking my lover. Just then his eyelids flickered and he woke up.

"I've got to go take a pee," I told him. "I won't be long."

"I need one too, "He replied so we both went up stairs to the bathroom.

I suggested that we have a shower and Robert agreed. I washed him all over but nothing happened except for a kiss or two. He didn't even get hard when I washed around his private parts and I must admit nothing happened to me either when he washed me.

I made some breakfast and we sat at the kitchen table not saying very much. I think Robert was still in a state of shock.

There was a knock on the door and I let Bill and Shirley in.

"Is it alright Robert if I continue to assign the men to their jobs?" Bill said

"Of course do whatever you think is right for now." Robert replied.

Shirley said that she had drawn the wages for the men and she would travel round the different sites paying them this morning.

Robert with tears in his eyes said. "I don't know how I can ever thank you two enough for what you are doing, and tell the staff that we will keep them informed of what is happening, Plus we don't know yet when the funeral is but no work will be done that day."

Shirley with tears in her eyes said, "Thank you Robert we are going to miss your mum and dad, they were two very special people."

After they had left I made another cup of coffee and promptly at 10 am the solicitor, John Davies arrived. I made him a cup of coffee as well and we sat down at the table John producing a stack of legal looking documents out of his brief case.

"Were about's is your sister Robert because really she should be here as well."

"She is staying with friends in town," I explained.

"Ok I'll contact her later. Your parents changed their will only a couple of weeks ago and I can reveal to you two young men that the entire estate, the business, and all their assets are to be shared equally between your sister Anne, you Robert and you Michael."

I was stunned when he mentioned my name, with Robert reaching over to squeeze my hand.

"Are you sure he means me?" I questioned.

"Yes he was very particular that you should be included, he thought a lot of you Michael, he told me he was proud of the fact that you put behind all the bullying and violence, developing into a fine young man, plus he pointed out in the will that you and Robert will, he is sure be happy and set up for life."

I was speechless, with Robert hugging me tears forming once again.

"The only stipulation was that you remain in a relationship with their son.

"I can assure you that will definitely happen, I'm here with Robert for life."

Robert reached over to kiss me not caring that it was in front of someone else.

John Davies smiled and said, "It's wonderful to see two young people so much in love. When this is all over you must come and have dinner with my partner and myself." He kept smiling and it suddenly came to the both us.

"You mean you have a male partner as well?"

"Yes Jeremy and I have been together for more twenty years."

"That's wonderful. " I said.

"It is most important that I contact your sister to see what her plans are, plus have you given any thought to the company?. I'm sure you would have no problem selling it and getting a very reasonable sum for it."

Robert thought for a while then said.

"For the time being at least I, sorry we, would like to keep the company going for the sake of the men and their job security."

"You are two exceptional young men."

Just then Robert's sister arrived falling into her brothers arms crying her heart out.

When she had calmed down John explained the details of the will to her.

She was thoughtful for a while then said.

"I'm not all that bothered about the money Robert, although I hope you keep the business going in the memory of mum and dad."

More tears then she continued. "For the past few months whenever I stayed in town I stayed with my boyfriend Donald who is very wealthy and owns a large engineering company in Worcester. When mum and dad came back I intended to tell them that I was moving in with him."

She paused allowing that shock news to sink in.

"You and Michael here looked as it you were set for life with our parents blessing so I thought they wouldn't worry if I went off and eventually got married."

A quietness descended on the house once more as we absorbed this news.

"What about your share of the money and business Anne, what are we to do with that?"

"I'll leave you to work all that out and whatever you decided will be all right by me."

John piped up saying that documents reflecting Anne's wishes would have to be drawn up and signed by all of us.

We all agreed on that and requested that he handles all the details.

Both John and Anne left at the same time leaving Robert and I to our own devices.

We sat together in silence for a long time, both of us trying to absorb all that was happening.

There was another knock on the door and when I answered it in came the undertaker. He informed us that our parents were now in his chapel of rest and did we want to view the bodies.

Robert looked quite shocked at this question.

"NO, I want to remember my parents as they were not as they are now."

He began crying again and I moved closer to pacify him.

"What about the funeral arrangements? The vicar suggested in two days time if that is ok with you.

"Yes that will be all right, I give you permission to do whatever you have to do and send us the bill."

"Well I did want to talk to you about the coffins and the service."

"I'll leave all that to you, I would like them to have decent coffins and we will talk to the vicar about the service."

The undertaker looked a bit put out, not being used to being left to do everything, but he said before he left that he will abide by our wishes and make sure that his parents are laid to rest respectfully.

After he had gone Robert said he would like to lay down and have a rest .I said, "Ok darling I'll join you shortly after I've done the washing up."

"NO," he demanded. "You will come with me know and do the chores when we come down."

"Look Robert there will come a time when I have to leave you alone if only for a short period of time, believe me sweetheart I will never ever leave you. I love you, plus I need you right now just as much as you need me."

Robert took me in his arms and kissed me holding that kiss for what seemed a long time.

When he broke apart he began sobbing again.

"I'm sorry I don't mean to crowd you but I need you close to me at the moment. I just can't stand being alone."

"I understand darling and I will abide by your wishes, there's just one thing"

"What's that?"

"Can I go and have a shit on my own, I've been dying for one since we woke up."

That broke the ice a bit and Robert laughed for the first time since we got the tragic news.

"Sorry darling, of course you can, " He said with a grin.

I thought that's better, it's still going to take a long time for him to get over his parents death and secretly I vowed to do everything possible to help my beloved Robert.

The phone rang and I went to answer it. It was Cliff and Derek calling from Leeds were they are working in a pantomime, plus Cliff is on radio every Sunday night.

Both were in tears expressing sorrow at what had happened. I called Robert to the phone. He didn't say much just listened , and then said goodbye thanking them both for their kind words and thoughtfulness.

"What did they say?" I asked

"They were very sorry that they couldn't be at the funeral to help us, but they can't get away. Cliff said they would come and see us as soon as the season ended."

I moved over to kiss him remarking that both of them were wonderful people.

Robert drew me closer to him hugging me tight and kissing me hard forcing his tongue into my mouth.

While we didn't get very hard I could feel his cock pressing into mine.

The thought went through my head that perhaps he wanted to go a bit further, but I hesitated not sure if that is what he wanted.

Robert pulled away almost as if he was reading my mind. He gazed into my eyes.

"I'm sorry Michael, I'm not sure if that is what I want to do right now, I love you dearly and don't want you to leave me ever. My heart right now is broken so please be patient my lover."

I was puzzled by these words because he was the one who instigated the kissing and hugging, which is usually part of the foreplay before we get right into making love.

"That's all right darling my fault I misunderstood the signals you were giving me."

He looked again at me as if I was from another planet and I started to get worried about him.

"Come along," I said changing the subject, "Let's get something to eat."

I took him by the hand into the kitchen were I made scrambled eggs and toast, followed by strong coffee.

Both of us were very hungry and we wolfed the food down. It was almost time for bed so off we went upstairs.

Laying in bed next to Robert I looked at him as he drifted off to sleep. I was worried and not sure what to do because the thought went through my head that Robert was having a mental breakdown.

I need not have worried because next day he was more his old self again. Bill and Shirley arrived and joined us for toast and coffee. We explained that the funeral was tomorrow at 10 am Robert telling them that everyone could have the day off on full pay and were most welcome at the funeral. We also explained about the will and Bill breathed a sigh of relief ."Does that mean that the business will continue as usual but with you two in charge?"

Robert thought for a moment before speaking. "I haven't fully discussed this with Michael but I hope the two of us will be able to successfully keep the firm going and it will always have my fathers name at the top."

Shirley hugged and kissed him before saying that she was so happy we were not selling out or closing down.

After they had gone Robert said to me, "I hope you didn't mind me telling them all that without consulting you."

I put my arms around him saying.

"It is your business I'm the silent partner here, besides I know nothing about plumbing."

"oh I'm sure you'll pick it up pretty quick."

Once again we had a steady stream of visitors and the day passed quickly, but I still found that I was unable to go anywhere in the house without Robert following me. He felt so insecure.

We slept in each others arms all night long rising early to find mum had already let herself in and made breakfast for us of bacon, egg, tomato, mushroom and toast.

"I thought you'd better have some good food in your stomach because you have a big day ahead of you."

After we had eaten, it was time to get ready for the funeral. At 9.45 a car came to take us to the church.

We were met at the door by the vicar who took us down to the front of the church to our seats. Robert's sister Anne was already there and we were introduced to her boyfriend Donald who looked a bit older than Anne I guessed about 10 years older, but he appeared to be a very nice man.

With all of his Grandparents dead we where the only family but the church was packed with people standing around the sides and outside as well. Robert whispered to me that it looked like all of his dads workers were there.

The funeral went smoothly in fact it was just like any other funeral. The choir minus Robert and I sang beautifully. After the service in the church we moved out into the small cemetary in the church grounds were they were buried both in the same plot We had been very brave not crying during the service, but as the coffins one after the other were lowered into the ground we both broke down sobbing our hearts out on each others shoulders. Mum was at our side trying to console us but the tears continued to flow. Constable Steve I noticed was there as well and he took Robert while mum took me away from the grave so the men could begin filling in.

The ladies from the church had arranged eats and drinks in the school hall and everyone began filing over the road. I was with mum and I momentarily lost site of Robert, until I suddenly heard a scream and my name being yelled.

"Oh dear," I said to mum, "Robert won't go anywhere without me I'd better get over there quick."

I ran towards the noise seeing a group of people gathered round trying to calm Robert down without much success.

I pushed my way through until I reached my lover putting my arms around him and kissing him telling him that everything was all right and I was here.

Everyone gathered look on in amazement along with a few gasps of horror when I kissed him.

I turned to those gathered and said, "it's all ok, please go over to the hall and we will join you shortly."

Steve ushered them away leaving me at the church door with Robert sobbing like a baby in my arms.

"Darling you must start to pull yourself together, Please understand I will never ever leave you. I love you too much to do that."

He put his head on my chest as the sobbing gradually eased.

"I'm sorry, I am trying to come to grips with what has happened but you are the only one in my life and I feel so insecure right now. Please be patient with me."

With tears in my eyes I lifted his head up and kissed him gently on the lips.

"Don't worry baby I will look after you and keep you safe."

I took him by the arm leading him over the road to the school hall.

The ladies had prepared a great spread, while the vicar had supplied Beer and wine as well.

We began circulating through the crowd and I was surprised to see my old headmaster Mr Garth and several other school teachers, Ian and Derek's parents. The undertaker presented us with all the messages which came with the many flowers which now lay on top of the grave and when we studied them later there was one from HRH and Ian but what caught my eye was at the bottom of the message was the words "Our condolences, Elizabeth R. Which was how the queen signed her messages.

Slowly we went around the room, several people we met we had no idea who they were and I noticed a minority totally ignored me speaking only to Robert. One group from our church turned their backs on me to talk to Robert so he said to them.

"By the way have you met my lifetime partner Michael?"

At this one or two of them moved away while the others grudgingly shook my hand.

The day appeared to drag on and on with both of us getting very tired, finally mum whispered to me that perhaps if we went everyone else would also drift off.

Steve, came over and escorted us out of the building taking us home.

I made us a hot drink and we sat at the kitchen table going over all the events of the day.

Robert was quite listening but contributing little. Steve said his goodbye's and I took Robert up stairs gave him a couple of pills that the doctor had provided. Once we were in bed we lay together not talking and Robert was soon asleep. I lay awake a bit longer wondering what was going to happen to us. I felt happy and content next to my lover and knew in my heart that we would be partners for life.

Sorry this chapter was a very sad one with no sex. I must admit I had tears in my eyes when I wrote this chapter even though it didn't happen in real life, but I'm a sentimental old softy anyway.

Once again I would appreciate your thought and comments.

Stay safe and well.

Hugs Trevor
