Ten Guys, One Night
(Posted Apr 7/00)

Can you believe it? Three chapters in a month? I certainly never expected to hit 40 chapters when I started this story nearly two years ago! I'm not sure if I'll get to 50, but I am aiming to finish the story on the two year anniversary in February (knock on wood!)

Thank You to those who wrote after chapter 39. A special thanks to the people who suggested a song for me.

Now for a little blackmail!!!! I am working on a new AJ/Drew chapter which covers the events in chapters 40 and 41. And the only way to read that special chapter is to email me!!! I will send it to you the same day I post chapter 41!

'Thank You' to David, for the great job on the archive!

Thank You as well, to my chat friends: Rune and Neo You guys are truly the best.

Just a reminder, the Blue text indicates when Scott and Brian are not together. Only bits and pieces are blue in this chapter.

Before we could say anything else, the phone rang. Scott reached behind him to grab it and hand it to me. I spoke quietly to Kevin, sorry that our discussion had to end for now. The rest of the day would be a whirlwind. But it was okay. I was confident that Scott would be there for whatever was to come.

Chapter 40 - Brian

I hung up the phone and sat up. I turned to look at Scott. "The rest of the day is going to be crazy Scott," I said softly.

He brushed his fingers down my cheek. "I know. That's okay," he said softly.

I smiled. "I'd like you to spend as much of it with me as you can. If you want?" I added, not wanting to assume anything.

Scott grinned and pulled me to him for a brief kiss. "Of course. Where else would I be?" He swung his long legs around and stood up, turning to pull me to my feet. "So what is first?"

I told him the day's schedule. "We have a sound check and a run through of the concert. That will take us to a late lunch. After lunch we have an hour-long fan session, a short break then a press conference. The concert is starting earlier than normal so we'll just hang out at the stadium, have a light dinner before the show," I explained. "Kevin needs us downstairs in forty-five minutes."

I watched his face and saw the sly grin he got. I immediately knew what he was thinking. We could have some fun in forty-five minutes. And I did owe him for the night before! I grinned broadly. "First in the shower gets to choose!" I said and took off running down the hall. Scott chased after me halfheartedly. After all, either way we both won!

We actually made it downstairs only five minutes late, despite the fact that Scott was moving a little cautiously! Kevin noticed though and smirked. Scott stuck out his tongue at my cousin and Kevin laughed. I watched Sheri sneak up behind Scott and slap the side of his head. Scott turned to glare at her.

"I saw that, Scott! Behave or I'll tell!" she said with a laugh.

Scott put on his 'kicked puppy' look and I couldn't resist him. I walked over and wrapped my arms around him in sympathy. "Poor baby," I said softly. I kissed his nose before letting him go.

The four of us headed out to the waiting car and settled into the seats for the ride to the stadium. "So where's D these days anyway? And how are AJ and Blondie?" Scott asked suddenly. I realized I'd never mentioned either of them. We did have other things on our minds!

"D thought he'd go stay with Melissa for a while," I said. I hadn't had to ask Howie for the privacy, he had offered and I was grateful.

"Nick is Nick and AJ is doing okay, although he is missing Drew," Kevin answered Scott's second question. I glanced over at Kevin and Sheri. Sheri was pressed tightly against Kevin's side, with his arm around her shoulders. They looked comfortable and happy together and I was happy for both of them.

"So Sis, how'd you end up here?" Scott asked his sister.

Sheri smiled. "I got a phone call a couple of weeks ago from this cute blond guy. He asked me if I could come down for a few days." Sheri shrugged. "I rearranged my schedule and caught the flight he'd booked me on." She paused. "I mean what girl in her right mind would turn down and invitation from Nick Carter!" Then she squealed like one of the millions of thirteen-year-old girls. We all laughed.

Scott shook his head. I knew what he was thinking, Nick certainly had gotten good at meddling.

The four of us chatted about nothing in particular until we pulled up to the entrance at the stadium. It was a blocked off section so none of the fans who were already waiting at the main entrances could get in. As we climbed out of the car I saw Marcus approaching us.

Scott smiled at my bodyguard and walked over to shake his hand. "Hey Marcus, good to see you."

Marcus smiled. "Nice to see you back where you belong Scott," he said, then looked at Scott intently. "You staying this time?"

Marcus had always been protective of me. And many times I was very grateful for that. I watched their interaction now wondering what would happen. Scott looked directly at Marcus. "Yes, I'm staying!" he promised.

Marcus accepted his word and nodded. He escorted us into the building, leading us through a maze of hallways until we came out on the ground floor at one end. The stage was in the middle of the floor, with seating all around it. We walked through the rows of floor seats as we approached the stage. I didn't really notice all the people running around, the scene was so familiar to me. After a quick look around I could see Nick, AJ and Howie standing on one of the stage ramps. Scott walked directly to them and I followed.

The guys were talking and didn't notice us approaching. Scott was a few feet away when he spoke. "Hey, you, Blondie! I'm gonna whip your ass if you're messing with my sister!" he said loudly, trying to sound angry. I grinned as Nick jumped and spun around. When he saw Scott, he smiled tentatively. Scott walked right up to him and stared at him. "So? You got something to say for yourself?" he demanded.

Nick stared back for a moment then shocked Scott by grabbing his face and kissing both his cheeks. "Yeah. I'm glad you're here," he said when he moved back.

I heard Scott start to laugh and soon the rest of us were laughing too. I was glad things weren't going to be strained over Scott's return. Scott pulled Nick back in for a quick hug. "Thanks Nick," he whispered before turning his attention to the others. He walked over to Howie. "Thanks for letting Bri and I have some time alone, D," he said sincerely as he gave D a hug.

"No problem man," Howie replied.

Then Scott turned to AJ. They smiled at each other. "How's it going AJ?" he asked. I knew AJ had been slightly depressed lately and I hoped Scott's arrival might pick him up. Drew had planned on seeing AJ when we were in Toronto, but had been called overseas on business two days before our concert and his flight back had been delayed by a storm. They hadn't seen each other in months. No matter how much they wanted the relationship to work, it was made extremely difficult when they never saw each other.

AJ shrugged. "It's going." Scott pulled him into a tight hug, and smiled when he returned the embrace. I heard someone coming up the ramp and turned to see who it was. A huge smile crossed my face when I recognized the man. I turned back to Scott and AJ. Scott had obviously noticed the new arrival too. He grinned and pulled back from AJ. "You know, you guys really need to do something to occupy Nick's free time," he said. He spun AJ around so he could see the man approaching us. AJ didn't move and Drew came to a stop a couple of feet away.

"Hey Alex," Drew said softly. Drew looked like he was close to tears and so did AJ.

AJ raised his arms and Drew stepped forward into a crushing embrace. The rest of us gathered around them, trying to give them some privacy from the rest of the people in the stadium. My eyes met Scott's and we shared a secret smile. It was great to see everyone so happy. After a few minutes of quiet whispers and frantic kisses, the two finally moved slightly apart. AJ kept one arm wrapped around Drew's waist.

AJ sought out Nick's gaze. "Thank you, li'l bro," he said intently. Nick just smiled and shrugged. I was amazed at just how busy Nick had been, and I hadn't noticed!

Our little gathering was broken up when our stage manager came along and asked us to go up on stage. Marcus, Sheri, Drew and Scott, walked back down the ramp to find seats so they could watch. The five of us moved onto the main stage and found our headsets.

We talked about some of the changes we'd discussed. The major change would come later in the show when we performed my new song for Scott. After a couple of minutes we started the run through. Everything went smoothly as we marked our places for the beginning and end of each song. We sang a few lines for each song as well.

Because the stage is central, hidden doors and elevators were used to get us off stage and to costume changes. All the exits and entrances had to be checked and alternative routes planned in case an elevator stuck.

About two-thirds of the way through, we stopped and walked over to the band. I also had the live mics turned off.

"Okay, this is where we want to do the new song," I explained. "We finish Larger than Life and go off for a costume change. The lights will dim and the five stools placed on the left side of the stage." I wanted to make sure every knew what would be happening. "We each have a couple of lines to say before the song starts, but as soon as I'm done speaking, start playing," I said looking at the band. They nodded. I knew we'd been through this before, but I didn't want anything getting messed up.

Everyone knew what to do, so we finished the rest of the run through. Kevin waved Sheri, Drew and Scott up on stage with us so we could decide where to go for lunch.

Before a debate could begin, Nick spoke up. "Um, guys…and Sheri, I made reservations for us!" he said. Everyone turned to look at him. "What? I knew there would be a group of us so I thought it would be simpler."

Scott put his arm around Nick's shoulders. "Nicky, don't let anyone ever call you a dumb blond, okay," he said seriously. The rest of us definitely agreed with him. My baby bro was certainly growing into quite a remarkable man.

The ten of us, including Marcus and Tom walked out to find a huge stretch limo waiting. Some turned to look at Nick, but I just followed Scott and stepped into the car. Once everyone was piled in, and even for a limo, it was cozy with ten of us, the car pulled away.

Conversations were all over the place. Marcus and Tom knew all our inside secrets so we didn't have to watch what we said or did. We left Drew and AJ alone in their little corner, knowing they had a lot of catching up to do.

The trip was short and soon we were stepping out of the car and walking into a small restaurant. It became apparent that Nick had reserved the entire restaurant, not that it could seat more than maybe thirty people at any time. I saw the large table in the center of the restaurant and noticed two people sitting at it. I nudged Scott and he turned to see the two girls sitting at the table. Scott just smiled, no longer surprised by anything Nick arranged. We walked over to greet Melissa and Nora.

It was really nice to see Nora. She was looking good and had obviously recovered, at least physically, from her attack. Scott said hello to Melissa before walking to Nora. He bent down and kissed her cheek.

"Hey Nora, you're looking good," He said sincerely.

She smiled and blushed. "Thanks Scott. I'm feeling good too."

I was relieved to hear that. I kissed her cheek too, before sitting down beside Scott, across from Nora. I watched in surprise when Nick sat down beside, and very close to, Nora. Things had obviously been going on while I wasn't paying attention!

"So Nick, something you'd like to tell us?" I asked.

Nick blushed and picked up Nora's hand. "No, not really." He looked at Nora. "Anything you can think of sweetie?" Scott laughed and I threw my napkin at Nick. Nick grinned, then became serious. "Really, it just kinda happened," he admitted. "Nothing against you guys, but things have been really weird lately and I needed someone to talk to, that knew all the people involved. Nora and I had been emailing each other all along, so I started to talk to her." He looked at her again and leaned over to kiss her cheek. "We have a lot of similar interests and have fun together."

Nora spoke up. "Nick has been a big help, talking to me when I was getting depressed or angry about what happened. He's been a real sweetheart and we're taking things slowly."

"I'm really happy for you, both of you," I said honestly. I felt bad that Nick had been dealing with everyone's problems alone and I was glad he'd had Nora to turn to. I could see that Scott agreed with me.

The twelve of us enjoyed a delicious and leisurely lunch, and good company, before we had to go back to the stadium.

The stadium had a large room set aside for us with a number of sections. One corner had a table full of drinks and snacks; another area had a large screen TV and some comfortable couches. A third section had a couple of video games and a pinball machine. The fourth section had four couches around a square coffee table. On the table were a variety of board games and card games. A wall of windows overlooked the floor of the stadium. A couple of doors leading out of the room went to bathrooms and a smaller quiet room that only the five of us were allowed into. It was quite cozy and we all relaxed in the safety of the room.

It wasn't planned, but each of the five couples moved to a secluded area for a few of minutes of personal time, before separating. We only had a few minutes before we had to take the elevator down to a conference room for the fan meet.

I took Scott's hand and we walked over next to the windows. "I'm going to miss you Angel," I whispered as I kissed the hollow of his throat. Scott pulled me into his arms.

"I'll miss you too. I always do anytime we are apart. But I'll be here when you get back," Scott promised.

I smiled. "I know." I looked around at the other couples. "This is perfect you know. All of us together." Scott nodded in agreement. We kissed again and before I knew it, our PR was there to take us to the fan meet. Our 'significant others' decided to hang out in the room while we dealt with the fans.

We all whined to each other as we took the elevator down. I felt sorry for AJ and Drew because they hadn't had the benefit of any time alone. I think each of us would have preferred staying with the others, but duty calls. Fortunately the fans that had won the right to meet us were fairly restrained. Only a couple of them were hysterical and crying. The rest were excited and polite. I was surprised how quickly the ninety minutes passed. Finally we said our final good-byes to the mostly female group and walked back to the elevator.

We walked back into the lounge room and started towards our partners. Then I stopped. I had an idea and I didn't think the others would object, so I walked back to AJ.

"J, why don't you and Drew take the quiet room, until we have to go?" I suggested.

"You sure?" he asked seriously. We had never allowed anyone else into that room except the five of us. But I think it was only fair.

I smiled and nodded. "The rest of us had at least last night to get 'it' out of our system. You and Drew haven't had the chance!"

AJ smiled and blushed. He thanked me quickly then walked over to Drew. I watched as AJ pulled Drew into the quiet room before continuing over to Scott.

I sat down beside him on the couch as we looked out the window at the stadium. I pulled Scott's arm around my shoulders and snuggled against his side, resting my head on his shoulder; one of my favorite positions.

"I missed you," I whispered.

Scott smiled and kissed my forehead. "I missed you too Love. So how were the fans?" he asked.

I shrugged. "The usual. I'll be glad when this concert is over. We only have a few more before we're taking six weeks off," I said softly.

Scott was surprised. "Six weeks? Why?" I'd forgotten that he didn't know about the break.

I sighed. "Basically we're all tired. Although AJ is planning his own little mini tour. You know that persona he puts on sometimes…Johnny Suede? Well he's doing a few concerts as Johnny. Except he has to change the name for copyright reasons, so he's going as Johnny NoName," I explained. I sat up. "But I was thinking that we could use the time for us. Whatever you want Scott. We can take a trip, or just spend time at home together. What do you think?"

Scott thought about it. "What if…" he started then trailed off. I waited and he continued. "What if we went public before the break, or at the beginning of it? Then we could spend time talking to reputable media…if there is such a thing. Give them our story…then take a holiday for a bit and let the frenzy die down," he suggested.

I looked at Scott, and nodded. "That might work. If we feed the media our truth, so that they aren't making up the main facts…then maybe things will die down a little. It could work. Lets talk about that later okay? We'll have to talk it over with one of our PR people. They usually have a good sense of the media."

Scott leaned in to kiss me again. "Sounds good to me," he said before claiming my mouth again. We couldn't get too worked up, unfortunately. We didn't have the time before the press conference and I didn't want to show up looking dazed and freshly fucked. Instead we cuddled close and entwined our fingers together. It felt wonderful just to be held by Scott again. I think we both dozed while we sat there, because suddenly Kevin was gently shaking me awake.

"Come on guys," he said quietly. Scott and I both sat up and stretched. "We need to go in about five minutes Bri," Kevin added. I nodded. I turned back to Scott for a quick kiss.

"We won't have much time after the press conference. I'll have to get dressed, stretch and do vocal warm-ups for the concert. But we have a section reserved for you guys right down front, okay?"

Scott smiled and returned my kiss. "Sounds good Bri. Then we'll have more time after the concert for," he paused and licked his lips, "other things."

I couldn't hold back a groan, and he grinned. "Bastard," I murmured as I stood up. I went to the bathroom to brush my hair and wash my face. When I came back Scott was over by the TV, obviously planning on watching the press conference.

I waited for the others to get ready and then the five of us left, meeting Marcus outside the room.
