Mr Right Too Soon?

Chapter 7

Book 2

Part 1

Prologue

Several years had passed. This what transpired during that time.

Nick had graduated college with the desired record, as did Leo. Leo went on to graduate with honours in sports medicine. His relationship with Nick ended after almost two and a half years.

The time that Nick was away, and Leo being in another state, caused a rift. They just drifted apart. They needed companionship. They loved each other so much; but too much time away caused friction. They argued often. They demanded so much from each other. Nick trained for the US Olympic wrestling team for London 2012. He won a place on the team, but the training and the camps caused more friction, more arguments, to the point it just ended. It broke both their hearts, but they both knew it was ending, Life just got in the way.

"Nick, I haven't stopped loving you, it's just-" Nick cut him off. "Yeah I know, we are hurting each other; but Leo, I love you so much it hurts, but you are right. If we don't part now, we will end up hating each other". They kissed, and Leo went through the security checkpoint; his heart breaking, heading back to New York, where he had received a job offer from The Yankees as a sports therapist; and Nick still in training for the Olympics.

They didn't see each other again for almost another four and a half years, until fate once again brought them back to their home town.

Nick unfortunately did not have a great Olympics, and when he returned back he enrolled to train as a coach, and became assistant coach to coach Watson at UCLA, three years after the Olympics. Leo had decided to take a position at UCLA as the new Head of Sports Therapy for sports related injuries, unaware that Nick was the assistant coach. Fate works in wonderful yet strange ways.

Their respective families:

Danny Stone had eventually accepted Nick and is now a senior at UCLA and are as close as they ever were. Mary Stone had also accepted Nick; much to the displeasure of her father. But eight months earlier, Mary while leaving a sorority party was attacked and raped by a couple of frat boys at Brown University, drugs and alcohol played a part, but she is strong and is recovering with the help of friends.

Leo's Mother was sent for treatment for breast cancer; but it was found to be benign. His Father is in great health. Jennifer married a congressman, who later became a senator, and has just won re-election. Jennifer's ambition to rule the world one day is still on schedule.

Part 1

Nick

Nick watched the latest line-up of raw recruits waiting to be put through Coach Watson's infamous drill; he liked to see them go through what the old man put him through. It was brutal, it was tough. These kids were the best the high school programs had to offer; so they were no slouches. Their fitness levels had to improve and the Head Coach knew it. Nick was a great wrestler; he had made it to the Olympics. But he knew when he first made it to UCLA, his fitness was poor. He thought at the time he was at his peak, but the Coach showed him he wasn't.

"Nick, what do you think of Kent?" Coach Watson asked. He looked over and saw a bull in the making, solid; if handled well he could do some damage on the mat as well as the ring. "Look's a bit rough, Coach" Nick replied. "Yeah, but so were you, once" The coach replied. Nick smiled and nodded. "Kent, drop and give me twenty, double time" the coach yelled, and Nick remembered all too well.

" Oh Nick ,We have a new Head Sport's therapist starting today an old friend of yours, if I remember" The coach added, "Oh yeah, who?" Nick asked. "Dr Leo Bo-Trent" he answered, before walking away.

Nick looked like he had just been socked in the stomach. He had not heard anyone mention Leo in years. He thought of the love he lost, the life they planned together. But life and ambition on both sides got in the way.

"Leo...wow" he said to himself, and smiled a nervous smile.

Nick sat down, thinking of their last words at the airport; the last time he watched him walk away, breaking his heart. The Guy who still owned his heart.

Is he still as hot as when I last saw him? Does he hate me? Christ I have missed him. Mr Right ...too soon. Yeah, just a little, perhaps. Wonder if he has anyone?

He said to himself, still sitting on the bench and wondering. But it's been over four and a half years since they had seen one another and the one thing that had not been lost on him: he was still very much in love with Leo Bo-Trent. Yeah he had lovers over the past few years, but nothing even remotely serious. Nothing even close!

Leo

"Hello Dr Bo-Trent, it's nice to see, a former student returning" The Dean said to Leo.

"Yes Dean Richardson, it's a pleasure to finally see you again" Leo said, greeting the Dean of sports. "So Leo how have you been? How were the Yankees?" the Dene asked. "Good. I loved it, it's just I needed a change of pace, a change of scenery" replied Leo

...

Leo remembered the last words he said to his former boyfriend, Cody Marks, the Yankee's short stop; after he caught him in bed with a rookie.

"You have to be kidding me" he said, staring down on the guy with whom he had shared a bed for the past ten months. He knew this was over the minute he walked in on them. "How old is this one, Cody, 19, 20?" Leo spat out.

"Babe, don't be like that. Come join us" Cody stated. "Shit! you are high" Leo spat out. "Cody, I won't cover for you; not this time" he yelled out, pulling down his suit cases. "Babe, don't be like that" Cody pleaded. "Look, he's just trying to please me, so why not come on, you fuck him!. It will make you feel better" he said, climbing off the bed and walking over to Leo. He started stroking Leos' back. "Get the fuck off me" Leo yelled.

"Look you prissy little shit-" Leo cut him off. "Look Cody, it's been a blast, but I am out of here" Leo informed him. "Oh yeah, you have a piss test tomorrow. Good luck with that one" Leo said before walking out of Cody's condo for the last time.

...

"Yeah, change of pace, you know how it is, right?" Leo said, shaking the Deans hand.

"Yeah, the Yankees were reluctant to let you go, and assured me you were not involved in the Drug scandal involving the short stop. Shame about that, his career ruined," the Dean said, walking towards the door. "Welcome to UCLA, Leo" the Dean said, before showing him where his therapy offices were.

He walked into a suite of rooms catering to all kinds of sports related injuries. A student was being examined for a sprain by a therapist. He introduced Leo to him. "David, this is Leo Bo-Trent, the new head of Sports therapy," the Dean said. Leo shook David's hand, "Nice to meet you `Dr Bo-Trent" David said, and Leo returning the gesture. "Yes, David, and you", as David returned to treating the student.

"Ok let's meet the coaching staff", and they walked toward Coach Watson's office. He read the name on the door, Head Coach James Watson. "Hey Jimmy, this is our new sports Doc, you remember him don't you?" asked the Dean. "Yes, how are you Leo?" asked the Coach. "Good Coach, you are looking well" Leo complemented him; as Coach Watson was in his fifties but had the body of a thirty year old. "Thank you Leo, I do what I can you know" The coach replied.

"How's the family? Your Mom better after her op?" the Coach asked. "Yeah, she's recovering. It was benign; but better to be safe than sorry" Leo added. " Dad is well, as is Jennifer. Her husband has been re-elected to the Senate, so she's happy" Leo added. "Yeah I saw him on the news. I still wonder who wears the trousers in that relationship" the Coach asked. "Oh Coach, I think we both know the answer to that one" I responded.

"Okay Jimmy, I will leave Leo in your hands. Introduce him to the rest of your staff, will you?" the Dean asked, before taking his leave. "Okay, let's go and meet the guys" the Coach said, ushering Leo out the door.

"Some familiar faces still here so it won't be too foreign to you" He continued, walking into the gymnasium. Things had changed in seven years. A whole new sports fitness centre with state of the art treadmills, gliders, weights, and fitness programs that any top quality sports gym chain would be proud of.

"Nothing but the best, now, Leo" responded the Coach, looking at the expression on Leo's face. "It's changed quite a bit Coach" Leo said, taking in the vista before him. "The Yankee's had very much the same set up; but Coach, that's a billion dollar franchise" Leo said. "Yeah, but Leo, these guys are the future Yankees, Chicago Bulls, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the like. So they get the best. That's why you are here. You came very highly recommended" the coach said, shaking Leo's hand. "Welcome home Leo" the Coach said. "Thanks Coach" Leo replied, "It's good to be home" he added.

"Okay let's see who is still out here" as they entered the Gym floor. Leo heard a familiar voice. "Kent, what are you doing? My sister can defend that move. Start again. Pike, prone. Now get the defence right or the Coach will have you running drill's until he's retired" shouted Nick.

"Nick, you remember Leo, don't you?" The Coach said. Nick turned, and the vision of perfection was back, standing in front of him. "Hi...Hi Leo, how have you been?" Nick asked. "Good, and you?" Leo asked. "Yeah good, "Okay Guys. Nick, can I leave Leo with you? I have some calls to make" The Coach didn't wait for a response; as questions were never questions, they were candid orders, as he walked away, heading back to his office. "Kent, Coach Stone was correct about those drills, buck up kiddo" the Coach yelled, leaving the Gym floor.

"You Look good, Leo" Nick complimented him. "You look good, too" Leo replied. "How's the family?", Leo asked. "Dad still ignores me, But Danny doesn't. He's here. He's a senior" Nick, informed him. "He's a good kid" he added. "Good, considering the crap your dad filled his head with" Leo said with distain in his voice. "He has his own brain. Yeah it took a while for him to come and talk to me; but as I said, he's a good kid" Nick added.

"How's Mary?" Oh, she's recovering. The guy got 15 to life; but she's strong" Nick said, with a hint of sadness in his voice. Leo remembered reading a few months ago that Mary Stone had been attacked and raped at a sorority, by a couple of frat guys. One had committed suicide, and the other pleaded guilty. She has mental scars; but, as Nick said, she is strong. He contemplated contacting Nick at the time; but decided better of it.

"So, is she still at Brown?" Leo asked. "Yeah, she lost a semester, but she's caught up now. She has some great friends. Dad wanted her to move back here; but she's like Danny, stubborn" Nick replied.

"I see your sister is a step closer to running the world" Nick said, with a hint of humour in his voice. "Yeah, and what a shit storm she would be" Leo replied,

"So how's Cody" Nick asked, and they stopped walking. "How did you know about him?" Leo asked. "Are you keeping tabs on me?" Leo asked. "Jen took pleasure in telling me you had moved on, and with someone better" Nick informed him. "It ended, and he wasn't better, trust me" Leo informed Nick, who smiled at the last part. "So, how's your love life?" Leo asked, as they walked out of the gymnasium. "Fleeting" was all Nick got out.

"Leo..."

"Leo...can we talk?" asked Nick. "We are talking" responded Leo. "I mean Talk, Talk" he replied. "Do you really want to drag up the past , Nick" Leo asked. "Thought I would try, at least" Nick added, and looked on at Leo, who still had his heart. He might have moved on, but shit, who could ever compare to Leo? Sweet, hot as fuck Leo-Bo-Trent.

"Okay Leo, it's been great to catch up. Wanna grab a coffee? We have a Starbucks just outside campus, if you'd care to meet up later on" said Nick, hoping for some semblance of the Leo he still yearned for.

"Yeah, sure, why not. For old time's sake" replied Leo, and Nick walked back into the gym. Leo thought himself, `Shit, he still makes my ball's tingle; but I cannot go back to that well, it's dry. We would only end up hurting each other all over again. Yeah I still love him, but shit, it took me a year to get past the break up. I can't go through that pain again.

Nick turned and looked back as Leo exited the gym at the north end, and sighed. This is going to kill me to be near him and not be with him. Shit...I still love him, Nick thought to himself, as a tear rolled down his cheek.

To be continued...

Hope you are happy to see the boys back, I originally wrote the first book several years ago, and decided I would see how the guys are doing several years later, we all know life happens, so hope you enjoy the second book as well as the first.
