This story has taken on a life of its own. From its inception a year ago, I had only thought it would last ten chapters maximum. As you can see, it has grown tremendously. Mostly due to readers emailing me and telling me they've enjoyed it or have received help due to certain issues addressed. I've enjoyed writing this story but it would not have been written without men and women reading it and telling me they've enjoyed it. I do hope that you continue to enjoy each new chapter as our hero lives and grows.

I have received many emails from people who have enjoyed it and some from those who do not. I would enjoy hearing from you. Any emails you send, please tell me what chapter and story you are commenting on. Thanks.

Chapter 45 Fighting Beside a Phoenix

We first headed to Blake's club "Serenity" and met his sister Andrea. She seemed rather excited to meet NSYNC. I couldn't blame her. I was taken away when I first met them a year ago. We entered and found a table with a rather large cake sitting in the middle. Andrea confessed to making it and everyone looked on it ravenously. As we sat and ate, Blake and his sister treated us to a song. They were very talented with Blake on the guitar and Andrea on the keyboard.

When they finished we gave them a standing ovation. They were very talented and could do well in the business. JC said as much.

An hour later, all of us arrived at another club and found a nook in the throngs of people to sit. The sitting, however, didn't last long as everyone felt the urge to dance. We all got up and danced with our partners. My hands were all over Lance as our bodies throbbed to the music. When the song ended, I headed to the bar to get a glass of water. The bartender handed me my drink and Blake showed up next to me to order drinks for him and JC.

"Blake," I said to get his attention. He looked at me uneasily. I didn't blame him. Jessica, Justin and I made him out to be a bad guy before we got to know him.

"What?" he asked.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier. There have been some distressing things that have happened in our past that mirror what happened between you and JC. We haven't known you long and JC never mentioned you. It seemed like everything happened so fast between you two that it sounds a lot like what happened with Justin and Turic. JC can explain more to you. It's not a subject I want to get into.

"Anyway, I want you to know I'm sorry if I made you feel bad. It wasn't my intentions to do that. You seem like a nice guy and I want to get to know you."

I noticed out of the corner of my eye several persons that looked rather pale, too pale to be in San Francisco. Holding my glass, I said a quick prayer of blessing over it.

"If you'll excuse me," and I headed toward the pale persons.

As I walked I attempted to not spill a drop. When I neared the newcomers I tripped and the water went on their faces. Smoke billowed up as well as several screams.

"You pathetic fool!" one said and backhanded me.

I flew into the air and backwards landing on a table. The table splintered under me.

"Eric!" Lance exclaimed.

Jessica ran off to the Ladies' room to change.

"Are you okay?" Lance said to me cradling me in his arms.

"I'm fine," I replied winking at him. "Try to get the people out. I've got to help Huntress."

Lance nodded and looked for the nearest exit. I got up and headed out the door first. In the alley, I changed into the Batman and headed to the roof top. If memory served, there was a trapdoor above the dance floor. I went to the door in the roof and opened it.

Below me I saw Huntress block an attack from a vampire and kick it in the stomach. She spun around and kicked it in the face and it fell to the side. A vampire came up behind her and she spun around jamming the stake into its heart. Then she turned back and staked the vampire she previously knocked down.

I also noticed another being wearing a costume fighting several of the vampires.

I dropped through the trap door and glided down to the floor. A vampire came at me with a knife in its hand. I reached up, grabbed the wrist of the demon and spun it around so its back was to my chest. Still holding its hand in the air, I pulled out a stake and rammed it through its chest, and the vampire turned to dust.

A vampire tackled me from behind knocking me down. Its strength was able to hold me down tightly even though I struggled against it.

"Let's see what you taste like," the vampire replied.

Suddenly its weight disappeared. I realized it was dusted and I rolled over to see Huntress standing over me with a stake in her hand. She reached down to help me.

"Look out!" I exclaimed. She rolled away as a vampire flew at her. I lifted my feet up and caught the demon in the stomach. Using its momentum, I tossed it across the room into an empty table.

"Thanks," Huntress replied.

I flipped to my feet and turned to face the vampire. It recovered from the tossing and came running at me. I jumped in the air and snapped my leg out kicking the vampire in the face. Then I grabbed it by its head and turned. It spun around in the air several times and landed on the ground with a thump. Pulling out my stake, I staked the demon and moved on.

The vampires headed out of the club. Huntress and I looked at each other and nodded. We saw the mysterious being run out after the vampires. After acknowledging our lovers, Huntress and I headed out behind him.

The being ran toward one of the warehouses on a pier, no doubt following after the remaining vampires. Huntress and I followed suit. As we neared, I saw several vampires on the roof.

"I'm heading up," I replied.

Huntress nodded and I pulled my grappling gun out. Shooting a line to the roof, the cabling pulled me up. When I got to the roofs edge, I flipped over and landed on my feet.

"Looky what we have here," a vampire said.

"Do you want to be like us?" another asked.

"Not a chance," I answered.

The vampires charged at me. I blocked one and kicked another in the stomach knocking it off the roof. I brought my leg back and kicked the other in the stomach.

"Ya!" a large vampire exclaimed. It tackled me and we fell into the yellowed glass of the skylight and plunged down to the floor of the warehouse.

I looked around and saw a battle ensuing between Huntress, the mysterious good guy, and the remaining vampires.

The vampire that tackled me had its legs on either of my sides. It snarled at me and opened its mouth to feed. Its hand pinned down my hands. Before it could feed, however, a ball of energy hit the vampire and it flew off me. I flipped up and turned to see the mysterious young man smile at me.

I nodded my thanks to him and turned back to fight the vampires. For the first time I noticed my surroundings. There were at least fifty vampires in the building along with cars and motorcycles. It looked as if the vampires were assembling en mass.

`What in the world can this be for?' I thought.

Huntress and I shot a line up to the skylight and ascended. As we climbed up, the mysterious figure in black joined us.

"Good job," I said to the mysterious helper.

The Huntress walked up beside me. "Yeah, who are you?"

"No time for explanations," he replied.

The doors to the warehouse opened and we went to the edge and watched as the cars and motorcycles headed out. Huntress pulled out her air gun and shot a tracking device on one of the last motorcycles.

"Why didn't they just kill us?" I thought out loud.

"No idea," Huntress replied. She took out her monitoring device for the tracker and watched where they were going. "Damn," she said after a moment. "They found the tracer! They are good, whoever they are."

"Well, let's at least take a look at the warehouse," the mystery man suggested.

He glided down the skylight followed by Huntress and myself. She and I began to look around. It seemed as if the young man was doing something himself. His abilities were very mutant-like, though I had never seen anything so powerful before.

"Whatever was going on, they've completely cleaned up shop," he said. "I sense another level below us, but it's now nothing more than an overwhelming number of empty coffins. They are gone."

"Who are you?" I asked walking toward him.

"I am Phoenix," he replied.

Huntress walked up and looked on him narrowly. "Blake?" she asked.

"Yep. One and the same. Now that you both have my code name down, mind if I get something other than Jessica and Eric to call you?"

We looked at him surprised. But he quickly explained.

"I am psychic. You really think I'd fight by someone's side without first checking to see if they are about to stab me in the back?"

As frustrating as that could be, someone reading my mind, I understood why he did it.

"I only do it when I have to, or with permission. Don't worry. I don't just poke around people's heads."

"I'm Huntress," Huntress answered. "And he's Batman."

He chuckled a bit. "Sorry. It's just...Batman? He's a comic book character." He laughed some more and Huntress joined in.

"Shut up," I said in mock anger, "and let's head back to the club."

Phoenix flew us toward the club. Huntress looked a little apprehensive at flying. I understood her fear. I was afraid of flying myself.

We arrived at the club and Phoenix landed on the rooftop across the street. Huntress walked up to the ledge.

"I'll need to call Garrett. The local Slayer will need to be notified of the large number of people about to become vamps in the local morgue." She looked over at Phoenix. "I'llalso have him tell her she has a new ally. You may want to make contact. We vigilantes need to stick together."

Huntress walked away from us to radio Garrett. I turned to Phoenix to say something when Huntress started yelling.

"What do you mean? Someone's declared war on the Watchers and Slayers?" Huntress paused a moment. "Contact me when you have more information." She walked toward us with a very concerned look on her face. "The San Francisco Slayer was killed yesterday. So were a dozen other Slayers throughout the U.S. and ten in Europe. Numbers are still pouring into the Watchers' Council. Garrett is contacting all the Slayers on the West Coast. A Watcher named Whistler is taking the middle, and Batgirl's Watcher in Orlando is organizing the East Coast."

I looked over at her very concerned. Huntress looked nervous and very angry.

"Something big and not very good is going on here. And after what happened with you in Europe, the Council isn't ready for another full scale attack." Huntress leaned onto the ledge looking out across the city skyline. "I have a bad feeling about this, Eric."

"We've face difficult situations before. We'll get through this."

I placed a hand on her shoulder to comfort her.

"Well, if you need me, I'll be happy to help where I can."

"If this is any indication, we are going to need lots and lots of help. Slayers are getting attacked and there is some force declaring war on the Slayers. It sounds like something very powerful is making plans and believes the Watchers and Slayers as threats. I wonder if the X-MEN have heard anything or anything is going on with them."

The three of us changed and headed back to the group. There was no need to show up in costume.

It wasn't long before Lance and I left the group. We said our "Happy Birthdays" again to JC, hugged him, and headed back to the hotel room.

"What's going on, Eric?" Lance asked me. I couldn't hide it around him when something was amiss. "Eric, please. I should know if something is happening."

"Nothing to concern yourself with now," I replied.

I held his hand tightly as we rode the elevator up to our floor. We got to the room in silence and, when the door closed, I took him into my embrace and crushed my lips against his. He was taken aback at the forcefulness but quickly recovered and reciprocated.

"What...what are you doing?" he asked as he pulled away.

"This is our last night away from our lives. Tomorrow, we head back to Orlando and resume all that we left behind. Let's make tonight a night of passion. Let's make it a night for just us."

Lance smiled at that and we continued our kissing making our way to the bedroom. Our jackets came off and were tossed to the floor as we entered the bedroom. I pulled his shirt over his head exposing his chest. My lips found his round nipples and my tongue caressed them. Lance reached behind me and pulled my shirt from my waistband. I stopped my oral ministrations on his nipples long enough for him to remove my shirt. Then I went back to what I was doing.

Lance sat on the bed and I kneeled in front of him. Quickly, I unbuckled his pants, moved down to his shoes and pulled them off, then went back to his belt buckle. Once his pants were undone, however, he motioned for me to stand up. His fingers played on my belt buckle and tickled my stomach. I giggled and he smiled. Once he had my pants unfastened, he pushed them to my ankles. He pulled my boxers down and began sucking on my semi-hard, wet dick.

I ran my fingers through his hair as he sucked on me. Then, he moved down my legs and motioned for me to lift one foot. He pulled off my shoes, pants and boxers of one foot then did the same to the other. Then, Lance scooted back on the bed and I climbed up onto the bed on my knees straddling him. When my cock got to his head, he took it into his mouth and sucked for a little bit.

I pulled out long enough to turn around and he continued sucking. I was able to pull his pants and briefs down off his feet. My eyes were met with the pleasing sight of his hard, precum covered cock. I grasped it at the base and licked the head like a lollipop. Then I ran my tongue up and down the shaft tasting his juices. I opened my mouth wide and wend down on him, swallowing as the head hit the back of my throat. My head bobbed up and down as he pleasured me.

We rolled over slowly to where he was on top of me. I pulled off his cock moved to his balls, taking one in and sucking on them. Lance moaned in pleasure. My tongue continued to his hole and caressed the opening. With my hands I spread his beautiful fleshy cheeks wide and made contact with my lips. I pushed my tongue inside him and lapped at his insides feeling the soft, velvet skin. Lance pulled off me and sat up practically on my face. As I rimmed him, I reached around and grasped his long, thick cock and worked it up and down to the rhythm of my tonguing. Lance bucked his hips in time to my rimming and his hands played passionately with my own cock.

Lance reached down with his other hand and I lifted my butt off the bed. He inserted a moistened finger into my hole and began to finger me. We looked like a sex machine each busy pleasuring the other.

I moaned inside him as I neared my climax. With a loud grunt, my orgasm shot forth through my body. My sphincter clutched Lance's finger inside me and my cock shot cum all over his hand.

Lance moaned as well and his hole closed tightly around my tongue pinning it inside. His dick throbbed in my hand and I felt his hot cum blast onto my stomach and land where some of my cum landed.

Our rapid breathing slowed and we calmed down. Lance pulled off my face, turned and kissed me. He then moved down and licked the cum off my stomach. With a big glob of our juices mixed on his tongue, he moved to my mouth and spooned it in. I swallowed and kissed him. He went into the bathroom and came back with a wet cloth that he used to gently clean me and himself up.

Once the cloth was placed in the bathroom, we cuddled together in bed. In a short amount of time, Lance was asleep. I, however, couldn't sleep, so I climbed out of bed, pulled a complimentary robe on, and walked to the living room. I made my way to the balcony and stood looking at the night sky. I could hear the cars down below but could see the ocean in the distance. All was calm.

The calm before the storm,' I thought. Whatever this is threatening the Watchers and Slayers, it is evil and dark and powerful enough to get what it wants. We are going to have to be ready for it.'

"Hey," Lance said to me. I turned to see him standing at the doorway. His hair was messed up from sleeping on it. He came up to me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I placed my hands on his hands and leaned my head back against his shoulder. "Couldn't sleep?"

"Not really," I answered.

"Is everything okay?"

"When I'm with you, everything is perfect."

Lance kissed me on the top of my head and, from the balcony doors, we watched the moonlight ocean reflecting the stars in the sky.
