When You Least Expect By Josh Blake

Chapter 26

Lucas didn't stay down for too long over Trey. He finally realized that he had so much to offer another person and that there were other people who truly wanted to be in his life. One of those people turned out to be Austin.

The night he visited Trey, Lucas and I got home late. Unfortunately, it was a school night, so both of us were late getting to bed. I'm sure I'd be a little cranky in the morning due to the lack of sleep. Lucas didn't have a chance to talk to Austin that night. Thankfully, it was Friday, so we'd all have the weekend to have some fun.

Braden and I had been so occupied with Jackson, me almost dying, and the situation with Lucas that we needed to get away. Mom agreed to take care of Jackson for the weekend. Early Saturday morning, Braden and I left to spend the weekend in our favorite place on Earth, Chattanooga, Tennessee! It would be a quick trip. We left early Saturday morning, giving us all day Saturday, Saturday night, and about half of Sunday. We'd come back home Sunday evening so I could go to work Monday morning.

Braden and I held hands as I navigated the truck up the curvy roads of Lookout Mountain.

"I always feel like I'm coming home when we come up here," Braden said.

"I know what you mean. This place is so special. Do you still want to live here one day?" I asked.

"Yeah, I really do," Braden said. "I want this to be where we live and grow old together. Our final stop," he said.

"Can you imagine just being together all the time on this beautiful mountain?" I said. "The view is breathtaking!"

We pulled up to Dorothy and Rose's bed and breakfast and stepped out of the truck. We were instantly hit with frigid air. Lookout Mountain could be brutally cold in the winter, and this day was no exception. We grabbed our bags and hurried to the front door. Rose greeted us and ushered us in.

"Come in before you catch your death of cold out there!" Rose said.

"Dottie, the boys are here!" Rose yelled up the stairs.

"Coming, Rosie!" Dorothy yelled back down. Rose ushered us into the parlor where a roaring fire was going in the fireplace. Dorothy appeared after a couple of minutes and hugged us both.

"What brings you boys up here this time of year? We're always happy to see you, but we don't get many visitors in the winter months," Dorothy said.

We spent the next two hours filling Dorothy and Rose in on all that had occurred since the wedding. Of course, we spent a lot of time showing them pictures of Jackson and telling them all about him. We filled them in on Lucas and my injury and near-death experience. Neither of them knew about that.

"Why didn't you call us?" Rose said. "We would have rushed down there immediately!"

"Absolutely," Dorothy said. "You two are like family to us!"

"I should have called," Braden said. "That's my fault. But to be honest, I was only focused on Josh and nothing else. I can't tell you how I made it through those days. It's like I was on autopilot and I was functioning, but I don't know how. If it hadn't been for our friends David and Robert taking care of Jackson, I don't know what I would have done."

"We're just glad someone was there for you," Dorothy said. "I hate that we are so far away."

"Enough of the bad stuff," Rose said. "What do you boys have planned for your time here?"

"Honestly, we just wanted to get away and enjoy being together," I said. "We had hoped we could just spend a lot of time right here in front of this fireplace."

"You can spend as much time as you want right here!" Dorothy said. "We have you in your usual room, and you're our only guests this weekend, so you have the run of the place. Rose and I will try to stay out of your hair."

"No!" I said. "We want to enjoy your company while we're here. If we want some alone time, we'll go upstairs."

We really enjoyed just relaxing and snuggling together by the fire. Rose made a delicious dinner that night. We had barbecued pork chops, potato salad, and green beans with apple pie for dessert. After dinner, we sat in the parlor by the fireplace until it was time to go to bed. Braden and I went upstairs to our room and closed the door. We both took turns in the bathroom getting ready for bed and for the activities we would surely enjoy. I was lying in bed when Braden emerged naked from the bathroom. He crawled into bed with me and snuggled up beside me.

"I want you to make love to me, Josh," he said. I rolled over on top of him, pressing my lips into his. He wrapped his arms around me. His hard cock pressed against mine. I could feel the moisture from our precum. Without breaking our kiss, I worked my fingers toward his hole. I was about to reach for the lube when I realized that my finger was able to slide right in.

"I'm already lubed up, babe. Just slide it in me," Braden said. I lifted his legs up and guided my cock toward his hole. I slid right inside until my pubes were pressed against his ass. I pulled almost all the way out, then plunged my cock back into him again.

"Oh, Josh, make love to me!" Braden said.

"I love you so much, baby!" I said, grunting as I fucked him. His ass was gripping my cock just right. I knew I wouldn't last too much longer.

"I'm cumming!" I yelled as I flooded Braden's ass with my cum. I pulled out and collapsed on my side. Braden got on top of me, kissing me and rubbing his body against mine. I felt that his cock was still hard. He hadn't cum while I was fucking him. I reached down and grabbed it.

"Fuck me," I said. I reached for the lube I had put on the nightstand beside the bed and slathered some on his cock. Without another word, Braden pushed my legs back and mounted me. I was tight, so it stung a little when he pushed in. The feeling was soon replaced with pure bliss as his cock grazed my prostate. My cock was hard and dripping again. Braden began to sweat. Beads of sweat dripped off the end of his nose and landed on my face below him. My man was in rut and he was going to breed my ass. After several minutes of the assault on my ass, I felt an orgasm building from the stimulation of my prostate.

"I'm gonna cum again," I said. My orgasm caused my ass to squeeze Braden's cock, causing him to start spilling his load inside me. After his orgasm subsided, he collapsed on top of me.

We got up and showered together, then returned to bed. Rose had been thoughtful enough to leave a clean set of sheets for us, so we quickly changed them and then got into bed. We didn't have sex again, but we did enjoy just lying in bed in each other's arms.

"Our lives sure have changed in the last few weeks," I said. "I honestly thought I'd get more time alone with you, but everything started happening so fast."

"I know," Braden said. "But I wouldn't change a thing. I love having Jackson and being a dad. And I'm so thankful for your mom living with us and helping us with him. I don't know what we'd do without her."

"I know. And then there's Lucas. Charlotte thinks we could have custody of him as early as late February," I said.

"That's wonderful," Braden said. "It will be great to finally give him a stable home."

"We may have a problem, though. I think he has a thing for Austin. He talked to me about it the other day," I said.

"Yeah. Austin talked to me," Braden said. "They actually had sex, and Austin said it was the best he's ever had."

"Well, it's not like he has much to compare to," I laughed. "Just Hunter and you when you taught him what to do."

"I think he meant like the emotional connection," Braden said.

"So, do you think Austin really likes Lucas? Like as a boyfriend?" I asked.

"Yeah, he does," Braden said. "But he doesn't know how Lucas feels about him."

"I can assure you Lucas likes him," I said. "I'm just worried about what will happen if we move closer to the city. That will put them an hour apart. Plus, there's another boy trying to ask Lucas out."

"We just have to let them sort it out," Braden said. "They are both smart boys. They'll figure it out."

"Lucas is also a year younger than Austin. Austin will be going to college a year before Lucas. That could cause issues. Has Austin decided where he's going?" I asked.

"The last I heard he's leaning toward that one he toured in Mississippi. Cottonwood, I think," Braden said.

"Well, it'll all work out," I said. "I guess if we're going to really move, we need to start looking at some houses."

"Yeah, we probably should," Braden said. We're going to need at least four bedrooms and almost as many bathrooms. Plus, we need an office space again, and I'd love a den with a fireplace. And a nice kitchen."

"I'm not sure what we can get in our budget," I said. "After you start teaching, we'll have a bigger income. Until then it might be tight."

"We'll manage," Braden said. "My folks had some money put back for my college, but I didn't need it with the scholarships I got. I'm sure they would let me have it."

"I'd rather you use that for a Master's degree," I said. "Let's see what we can do first, then if we have to use it, we will. Let's go to sleep, babe."

"Yeah, I can't keep my eyes open. I love you, babe," Braden said.

"I love you, too," I said. I think I fell asleep about as soon as I closed my eyes.

After getting dressed the next morning, we headed downstairs in search of coffee.

"There you two are!" Dorothy said from the dining table. "Sit down, have some coffee. Rose is finishing up pancakes for breakfast." Dorothy poured us both a cup of coffee, and Rose emerged from the kitchen with a huge platter of steaming pancakes.

"Get `em while they're hot, boys!" Rose said, putting down the platter and then returning with melted butter and syrup. After another trip back to the kitchen, she brought out a platter of sausage.

"You remembered how much I love sausage with my pancakes," Braden said.

"Yes, I remembered!" Rose said. She turned back to the kitchen, then came back out with a platter of bacon. "I'm not much for sausage myself. I'm more of a bacon girl."

"Yeah, neither of us like sausage the way Josh and Braden do," Dorothy said with a chuckle. I had to put my napkin over my mouth to keep from spitting my pancakes all over the table. Braden was trying to stifle a laugh as well.

"Oh, you're so funny," Rose said, sarcastically. "You always have to make some crude joke."

"Well, it was funny," Dorothy said. "Even if I am the only one laughing." She dramatically took a bite out of a piece of bacon, snatching it from her teeth.

"How did you boys sleep?" Rose asked. "Or did you sleep?" She laughed.

"Not you, too," I laughed. "We slept quite well, thank you both!"

The rest of the day was spent much like Saturday. It was so cold outside that we didn't have a desire to get out and do anything. We cuddled up in front of the fire and enjoyed each other's company. Rose served a light lunch of vegetable soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, which was absolutely perfect for the weather we were having.

As much as we hated to leave, we knew we had to get back home. We packed up to leave and said our goodbyes to Rose and Dorothy.

"Don't be strangers! Come see us again real soon," Rose said.

"And the next time someone is in the hospital, we better get a phone call," Dorothy said.

"I can guarantee you will next time," Braden said. "But I hope there's not a next time."

"When the weather warms up again, please bring that baby to meet us!" Rose said.

"Yes, and Lucas, too! We want to meet him!" Dorothy said.

"We'll bring them both," I said. "Maybe in March when we're out of school for Spring Break."

"That sounds lovely," Rose said. "Can I go ahead and pencil you in on the books for that week?"

"Sure, go ahead," I said. "I can't think of anywhere I'd rather spend Spring Break, can you Braden?"

"I sure can't! And I'm sure Lucas and Jackson will love it, too!" Braden said.

"Then it's a plan!" Dorothy said. "You two be safe driving home!"

We all shared hugs, then got in the truck to head home. We made it home in just under two hours. It was so nice to get home, and after hugging Mom, Braden and I went straight to the nursery to check on Jackson. We found him awake, so I picked him up and held him for a few minutes, then allowed Braden to do the same thing.

"Since you boys are home, I'm going to go take a bath and call it an early night," Mom said. "Raising a baby is a lot of work!"

"I hope it wasn't too much on you," Braden said. "I should have asked Mom to come over and help you out."

"Oh, she did come over yesterday and today. Austin and Lucas came, too. They were a big help. But let me ask you something; are Austin and Lucas dating? They sure seem to like each other, and there was a lot of flirting going on."

I looked at Braden. He shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know if I'd call it dating. I don't know what you'd call it, really," I said. "I'm not sure they even know."

"Well, they make a good couple, just the same. Alright, goodnight boys. Call me if you need me," Mom said.

Braden went to fix Jackson a bottle while I rocked him for a few minutes. When Braden got back, I let him feed him and put him down for the night. It was getting late, so we went to bed. We were tired, and with my alarm set for 5:00 a.m., we settled for cuddling rather than full on sex. Surprisingly, Jackson slept through the night! We didn't hear anything out of him until almost 5:00. Just before my alarm was set to go off, his cries woke us up.

"You go ahead and start getting ready for work," Braden said. "I'll get him."

"Thanks, babe." I gave him a quick kiss on the lips before going into the bathroom.

When I picked Lucas up for school that morning, he was in a great mood.

"You're in a good mood for a Monday morning," I said.

"Yeah, I'm just really happy with things right now!" Lucas said. He was practically beaming. "How was your weekend in Chattanooga?"

"It was great. We didn't do anything, but it was just nice to be together and able to relax," I said.

"I can relate. Austin and I spent the whole weekend together. He's so sweet. I...I think I'm in love!" Lucas exclaimed.

"Oh, really now? Are you sure it's love, or is it teenage hormones?" I asked.

"No, I'm pretty sure it's love. I've never felt this way before. I thought I felt love with Trey, but this is a whole new experience."

"What does Austin say about all of this?" I asked.

"We haven't really talked about it specifically," Lucas said. "I think it's just unspoken. And I know what you're thinking, and it's not just about sex. We watched a movie last night, and we snuggled under a blanket and he held me. Every now and then he would kiss my head or my cheek. It just felt, I don't know...safe."

"That does sound like love," I admitted.

"And when it was time for bed, he kissed me before we each went to our rooms. It's like, I want to have sex with him, but it's more than sex. I don't have to have sex with him to feel special," Lucas said. "Is that how it is with Braden?"

"I'm not going to discuss our sex life with you, but yes, that's how it is. Just be careful, Lucas. I know you think you're in love. And maybe you are. But you've been though a lot. Don't get your heart broken, and don't break Austin's, either."

"I don't plan on it," he said.

"And remember that your living arrangement is temporary. You're not going to live with Austin forever. Eventually you'll live with Braden and me."

"I know, and I can't wait for that, but I'm going to enjoy this while I can," he said.

We arrived at school, and Lucas got out to go meet his friends. I went to my office and started checking email. The day was mostly quiet. About noon, I called Braden to check in.

"Hey babe, how's your day going?" I asked.

"It's going good. Jackson is down for a nap, and I'm catching up on some homework. Your mom is in the kitchen fixing lunch."

"Sounds good. What are y'all having?" I asked.

"Don't laugh. I asked for a pb&j. I'm still a kid sometimes," he said.

"As long as you didn't ask her to cut the crust off, we're good," I said.

"Well..." he paused. "I'm just kidding. No, she isn't cutting the crust off for me."

"So, have you talked to Austin today?" I asked.

"Yes, and he's happier than I've seen him in a long time," Braden said. "He called me on his way to school this morning. He thinks he's in love."

"Wow. Lucas told me the same thing. Apparently, they don't need sex to be happy, according to Lucas."

"Austin told me the same thing," Braden said. "He said the sex is great, but he just loves Lucas being with him. He said he hasn't felt anything like this before."

"Do you think they are really in love?" I asked.

"If they feel so strongly about it, then I'd say the probably are," Braden said. "I'd rather them be dating each other than fooling around with some guy they don't know. At least this way they can stay safe and not get in any trouble."

"You're right. I don't have a problem with it. Although after the adoption goes through, Lucas will be your son, which would make Austin his uncle. Austin is going to be dating his nephew," I said.

"Wow, I hadn't thought about it like that!" Braden laughed. "Let's not point that out to them. It's not like they're blood related. It'll be fine."

"I know. Just something to think about," I said. "Let me get down to the cafeteria and check on my heathens. I'll see you when I get home. Love you."

"Love you too, babe," Braden said, then ended the call.

Before I could make it down to the cafeteria, Anita appeared in my doorway.

"Josh, Dr. Turner is on the phone. I'm going to transfer him to you."

"Dr. Turner, so good to hear from you," I said, picking up the phone.

"Hey Josh, this is a `David' conversation, not a Dr. Turner conversation. I want to talk to you about something. Can you come down to my office this afternoon?"

"Absolutely, David. Is it okay if I bring Lucas with me?" I asked.

"Sure, he can hang out in the conference room while you and I chat about some things. Don't worry, it's nothing bad. Just be here about 3:45, okay?"

I arrived at David's office at the appointed time and sent Lucas into the conference room to work on his homework.

"Josh, good to see you again, have a seat!" David said. "Can I get you a drink?"

"Water would be good," I said. "I better hold off on the hard stuff since I have to drive home."

"As you wish. One water coming right up." David stepped into the small closet attached to his office and came out with two bottles of water.

"I wanted to bring you down here to talk about a personal matter, Josh. You're closer to being my son than my own son is these days."

"Thank you, David. I take that as a compliment."

"I'll get right to it. Robert and I decided to tell our kids about us. You may recall that I have two daughters and a son. My son married Robert's daughter. Robert also has a son. They're spread out all over the country now. We don't see them much."

"When did you tell them?" I asked.

"Last Friday night. We had a big Zoom call with everyone. We told them all that we had some news. Everyone assumed that I was retiring. They know that Robert and I spend a lot of time together, but they just thought we were really good friends, and since both of our wives are gone, they figured we were just leaning on each other for support."

David took a breath and took a drink of his water.

"So, Robert and I got on Zoom and told all of our kids that we were in love and had been in love with each other for many years."

"That's great, David! How did it go?"

"Not well," David said. "It backfired on us. Instead of being happy that we are together and happy, they are mad that we lied to them for so many years. And the thing that hurt most is that we both cheated on our wives, their mothers."

"Oh David. I'm so sorry. Is it really bad?"

"Yeah, it's pretty bad. The girls were crying. The boys were yelling. We finally just cut the call because it was so out of control. We've called each of our kids individually to try to explain the situation, but so far, they don't want to hear any explanation we have. My daughter, Grace, she's the youngest, said that she doesn't care if I'm gay, but she can't forgive me for going behind her mother's back all those years. I guess I understand. What I did was wrong, and I know that."

"I don't know what to say, David. What can I do?" I asked.

"Nothing. I just needed to talk to a friend, I guess. Someone who would understand. Robert is having a tough time, too."

"I bet he is," I said. "I feel so bad for you both."

"But here's the funny part in all this. My daughter Sharon, the oldest, and her husband Michael have a son. He's 19 and he's in college down in South Alabama. His name is Ryan. He was on the call when this all went down. He called me a couple days later and said he had something to tell me. Josh, the boy came out to me. He told me he's gay. He's been hiding it for all these years, and he said he couldn't take it anymore. His parents say use homophobic slurs and make comments about gay people. I never knew my daughter was so homophobic! And to think that my grandson had to grow up knowing he was gay but always thinking he was a second-class citizen. It breaks my heart, Josh. He's scared to come out to his parents, but he said that he felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulders when he found out about me."

"That's beautiful, David. You can be something positive in that boy's life," I said. "Does he ever come visit you?"

"He hasn't in a couple years, but he's coming this weekend! I may have lost all of my kids, but at least I still have my grandson!"

"I'm so happy for that, David. I hope I can meet him sometime soon!"

"Why don't you and Braden come over for dinner Saturday night? You can meet him, and he can see another gay couple. He hasn't been around many gay people. Well, I haven't either, for that matter," David said.

"I'd love to," I said. "I just have to make sure Mom is good to keep Jackson."

"Bring them, too! I'd love to see the little guy again, and your lovely mother, too!" David said.

"We'll be there," I said. "I really should get going, David. I'm so glad we got to talk, and I look forward to seeing you and Robert and meeting Ryan on Saturday." David stood up and hugged me, then I collected Lucas and we headed on our way.

Mom had a great dinner waiting when I got home. She had made barbecued chicken, coleslaw, and baked beans. Instead of dropping Lucas off at Mark and Bonnie's, he came home with me. I wanted to get him used to being with us and being part of our family. We all had a great dinner, and it really did feel like we were a big, happy family. Braden took Lucas home after dinner while I took care of Jackson and put him down for the night.

When Braden came home, we went to bed and enjoyed a passionate lovemaking session. I insisted on Braden fucking me. I was craving his cock up my ass, and he gave it to me really hard. After Braden flooded my bowels with his cum and I thoroughly coated both of us in my cum, we shared a shower to wash away the evidence of our lovemaking. We then returned to bed, cuddling together until we both fell asleep.
