That's Impossible, isn't it?

Chapter 23

Book 2 part 4

Craig was gone when I awoke. I thought he might just be downstairs. I washed, and brushed my teeth and headed down. I could not find him anywhere. His personal communicator was on the table and he could not be reached.

"Good Morning, Bobby, sleep well?" enquired Levert.

"Yes, sir, thank you," I replied.

"Please call me Levert, or if you like, Father, as you are my sons Ro-Lok, are you not?" and I just smiled and nodded.

"Thank you" I added.

"Levert, do you know where Craiglessty is?" I asked.

"He has Nathan with him; he's taking him to see some of the area," Levert replied.

"Lacka is with them," he added.

"Oh, when did he come?" I asked.

"I don't know, Bobby, he was here when I came down for a drink," he replied, so it was obvious that Craig contacted him early this morning and was hoping he will help in our search for Dallam.

I talked for a short while and decided to go and see if I could find them, I know Craig well enough to know his favourite spot is near the ocean. I headed down and noticed a man watching my movements or should I say watching the movements of the home.

"Hey" I heard Craig yell, as I approached them.

"Hey, little man," I said as Nathan ran towards me, or should I say wobbling towards me. "Hey, I missed you this morning" I said to Craig while I grabbed the ankle biter into my arms. "Had to call Lacka," he replied.

"Hey, Lacka, you look well," I said as he stood next to Craig, even though they had never met before this whole thing started, you could tell they were brothers

"As do you, Bobby," he replied.

"So what is happening?" I asked.

"I think we are being watched," replied Craig.

"Yeah, I saw him as I walked down, do you know him?" I asked, looking at Lacka.

"Never seen him before," he replied, still looking at the man sitting in his transport watching our home.

I stood and watched as both Lacka and Craig ran towards the transport; the guy sitting looked unfazed as they approached at speed. He just smiled and lifted off and disappeared. "Well, did you recognise him?" I heard Lacka ask.

"I have seen him, I don't know who he is, though, I have seen him in the senate building when I have visited my dad," Craig replied. "Brother, we need to let your dad know that we are most definitely being watched," Lacka replied, as I caught back up with them.

"Don't you ever do that again," I yelled at Craig. "He could have had a weapon, didn't you think of that, we have been shot at before, remember?" I scolded him, and he just laughed at me, yeah, fucking laughed at me.

"Dick head," I snapped, and walked back towards the house with Nathan clinging to my shoulder. "Bobby, wait up," he yelled at me. "Why, so you can mock me some more?" I replied. "Look, I'm sorry, okay, it's I have always acted on impulse, and well...I act first and worry about the consequences later," he added.

"Yeah, I know, I can sense that, remember?" I replied sounding less pissed than I was. "But why laugh?" I asked. "Nerves" he replied. "Craig, remember we are joined, you have added responsibilities, to me, to us, you have to reign back these impulses," I added.

He pulled me into an embrace and whispered into my ear. "Does that mean all impulses?" he asked. "I looked at him and detected lust in his eyes, and in his feelings; I still have to get used to feeling his emotional state as well as my own.

"No not all impulses, just the ones likely to get you, or both of us, killed," I whispered back.

"Okay, and just to be clear, babe, he wasn't hiding, he was letting us know we were being watched, so I sort of figured, if he was not hiding and wanted us to be aware of his presence, he wasn't going to shoot us, as it were," Craig added logically.

"So, a hunch?" I replied.

"More of a gut instinct," he added

"You two okay, now" asked Lacka as he strode up next to us, still embracing. "Yeah, we are cool," I replied. "Sorry what, it's quite warm today," Lacka replied and it was my turn to laugh. "Sorry, what is so funny?" he asked. "It's an earth term, it means yeah we are fine," I replied.

"And speaking of gut instincts," I started, "I'm hungry; I haven't had breakfast, and by the looks of Nathan, he agrees with the sounds coming from my stomach, don't you, little man?" I said as he now was clinging to his older brother.

We walked back into our home; Levert was standing next to his wife in the Kitchen and they were preparing breakfast. "Hey, boys won't be long," his stepmother informed us. "I'm going to take a quick shower, back in a couple," Craig said and vanished upstairs.

"Lacka, won't you join us?" asked Levert.

"Thank you, sir, I will, thank you," he repeated.

"We are being watched," I blurted out.

"I know, I know him, he is security advisor for the upper senate," Levert replied.

"What is up with them, we have peace, don't we?" I bemoaned,

"Bobby, I think there is more to it," Levert replied and Lacka nodded in agreement.

I sat and waited for Craig to complete his shower, I talked at length with Lacka, I could see what his brother was like if Lacka is anything to go by.

A few days went by, different people continuing to watch the house.

Lacka called by, on the pretence of just visiting his brother,

"Okay, I have some contacts who know someone on Bokite that could help us," Lacka started as Craig re-entered the room. "On Bokite, Lacka, we are being watched all the time," Craig responded. "Easy thing to get around," replied Lacka,

"How?" I asked.

"When you first arrived here, your transporter was tampered with, right?" he asked.

"Yeah, what about it?" I asked.

"Well I know how it was done, we program the transporter to take us to the senate building, but also create a separate destination, we go to the main square and disappear, we use the transport shuttle that is used for off-world workers heading back to Bokite" he said.

"You have it all worked out, don't you?" Craig asked.

"There is a risk, however," he added.

"In what way?" I asked.

"Well, we don't know how much the transport system is being watched," he added.

"I have Judak's transport authorisation for when he went back, but I only have one," Lacka replied. "I can get some forged ones, but as I said, it's a risk," again he said, hoping we would just drop it.

"Look, Judak does not know he is about to be invaded by us, and be honest, it is us, the Krile will not see a difference in who fires the weapons, all they will see is Lokites" replied Craig.

"Lacka, arrange for our documents, and if the high senate gets wind of this, we will have to come up with a plan B," Craig added.

Back at Levert's office...

"You absolutely sure?" Levert asked his chief medical advisor.

"Sir, I did as you asked, I did this in private, and the bio scans have shown that 90% of all male humans have a similar foreign object on their frontal lobe, I can only surmise it is the control chip you described" Dilla replied.

"Thank you, my friend, and as I have said, for your own safety, speak nothing of this," Levert said as his advisor left his office.

"Well, Major, what do you think?" he asked Major Barnes.

"Levert, you know what I think, he has ships within this sector, do you know how many?" Barnes asked. "More than we need," Levert responded. "Troop carriers, he has built so many for troop carriers, cannon fodder, he will use us as bait, before using his own men," Major Barnes added.

Meanwhile, back at the Security Council chamber of the senate...

"Speak to me, Commander Bide!" Litral demanded,

"Sir, we still cannot find the holy ones. I think they have changed form," Bide replied.

"You said you could trace them, no matter what form they took," Litral responded. "Yes, sir, we can, but they would have to be in motion, we know they have been in contact with Levert, well, more his son and his friend," Bide continued.

"We are keeping a watch on them just to see if they make contact, we know the new leader of the Krile is very strong with that family, sir!" he added.

"Yes, Judak, I knew him also, I wish my brother killed him when he was born, I, however will not baulk at the next opportunity to correct my brother's mistake," added Litral

"And on that subject, is he dead yet?" he enquired.

"Ermm, Sorry sir, he is not in Billat, he was there for a while, but, sir, he has vanished," Bide responded, and Litral's face began to turn red with anger, "You incompetent fool, you better find him, I will not have my plans stopped now!" he yelled, showing his displeasure.

"Yes sir, I will sort it out personally," Bide responded.

"See that you do, commander, the next time you are in this chamber it better be news I wish to hear, if not, do I need to go on, Bide?" Litral made sure he knew what he was risking.

"Yes, Sir!" was his reply and left the chamber.

24hrs passed and Bobby and Craig met up with Lacka in the main market square, Craig had noticed they were still being watched, and headed for a food court for a drink.

"I served with him," Lacka said taking his seat.

"Sorry, what?" Craig asked.

"I was in his unit, he knows me" Lacka replied.

"So, is he watching us or you?" I asked.

"I think it's because either they cannot find Lord Lakkin-Do or that you are close friends with the new leader of the Krile," Lacka added.

"His commander is Bide, he answers to Litral, and he alone," Lacka added.

"Paranoid much," I replied.

"Sorry?" asked Lacka,

"Sorry, earth saying," I replied.

"Okay back to the matter at hand, I have got us passage on a farming ship, heading to Hokite for harvest, but will make a stop near Bokite, we can transport from there," Lacka added.

"What about authorisation?" I asked.

"Bobby, since it is a harvest ship, and workers moving around all the time, and only supposedly going to Hokite, there is no documentation needed, we will be on Bokite two days, they will signal me when they get close, and we will come back with them," Lacka said with a slight smug look on his face.

"You make it sound so easy," Craig replied.

"Trust me, brother, this is anything but easy," he replied.

"So, when do we go?" I asked

"First light tomorrow morning; tell no one," Lacka replied.

"I just hope we can find Dallam quickly and convince him to take his rightful place and stop this bloodshed that Litral craves," Craig said with sorrow in his words.

I leaned over and wrapped my arms around my Ro-Lok, I could feel and sense he was thinking of his best friend and brother, Borak, he didn't want his death to mean nothing, and it would, if Litral got his way and invaded the Krile home world.
