That's Impossible, isn't it?

Chapter 24

Book 2 part 6

"So Billa, what is this trading port called?" Craig asked.

"Hommo," he replied.

"Did you say Homo?" I enquired and suppressed a snicker, but barely.

"Yeah, why is it amusing?" He asked.

"Hommo" is a very busy port, it gets very busy at this time of year, harvest is due and traders come from all over the quadrant," he added.

"Homo means something quite different on Earth," Craig replied.

"Yeah it was a derogatory remark, aimed at people like me," I added remembering the taunts I had received in highschool despite me never actually coming out, they had just assumed I was a cocksucker, boy, if they only knew; I smiled to myself.

"Look, guys, it will be a while before we arrive so just relax and enjoy the view." Billa was now in full tourist guide mode. And then suddenly a loud noise from behind us rattled us out of our reverie.

"Strap in tight, Craiglessty, lift that locker and pull out the weapons, we are being fired upon, look behind us, a cruiser is firing on us, I'm trying to shake them, Craiglessty, when I bank left they will be open to a shot, fire at the open door, Lacka, you get on the rear guns with Judak and return fire. Bobby, duck," he said and that hurt, I am not a useless coward, I can fight, I pouted.

He banked left, Lacka returning fire but the cruiser had shields, "Why don't we have shields?" I asked wondering why our transport was like a car with no power steering. "Busted, being repaired next week," he said between manoeuvres.

"Their shields are weakening; Craiglessty, concentrate your fire on the lower section, we will do the same," Lacka instructed. And it worked; the shells penetrated their shields and their hull. They dropped back and retreated.

"Litral must be worried, he's sending off worlders after us, now," Lacka scorned. "Well, he knows where we are, and they will report back and they will also know where we are heading," Craig added.

"I have another option," Billa replied.

"I have a small ship, well a friend of mine has a small ship, it is not very fast and weapons are somewhat limited, but it will get you to where you want to be," Billa informed.

Craig, Judak and Lacka looked at each other and then at me. "Well, what do you think" Craig asked me, oh now they want my expert opinion, no duck and cover. "Well, we cannot continue onto Homo," I again stifled a laugh.

"So, I say we head to wherever Billa has this ship stashed," I replied. The guys looked at Billa and no words were exchanged, just a nod and a wink, and Billa changed course and headed towards the mountains.

Some twenty minutes later, we entered a clearing and set down, a young man came out of the trees and Billa embraced him, a lot of nodding and shaking of heads were happening, Billa turned and beckoned us to follow him, we climbed out of the transport and followed them.

He did not introduce us to his friend, shame, he looked kind of cute, and if it wasn't for the fact I was joined and head over heels in love with Craig, well, yeah, I would have a go, try at least. I berated myself at the thought.

"Yeah, he's a cute one, alright." Craig smirked and kissed my cheek.

Shit, I keep forgetting he can sense my feelings my desires and moods, I need to keep my fantasies in check. And I can sense his humour in this... dick!!.

Meanwhile, back at the upper offices at the senate on Lokite...

"What are you talking about" Litral yelled at his commander.

"Sir, he's young, he thought they were trying to elude him" replied Bide

"Observe, was that too hard to comprehend?" Litral replied angrily.

"They know we are on to them now, I need that device commander, my whole plan depends on my acquiring that device." He scorns, eyes blazing as he talks to his commander.

"I will no longer tolerate incompetence, commander, do you understand me?" Litral railed, looking at Bide and he picked up his meaning.

"Yes sir, I will take care of this personally," Bide bemoaned what he had to do. But he would carry out the execution of his subordinate himself.

"Good, and make sure he knows why," Litral added.

"Are they still being observed?" Litral asked

"Yes sir, the transport they are using had a locator planted, so we know where they were, and if they are still using it, we will find them," Bide added and stood up to leave.

"Observe, Bide, remember that, when you locate the device, then you can kill them... Including my dear brother," he added with no feeling.

"Yes sir, as you wish," Bide added and then left.

Back with the boys...

"So, how fast is it?" Craig asked.

"It's not very fast, but that is a plus," Billa informed us.

"How so?" I asked.

"They will never suspect you would try and leave the system in a Junker," Billa smiled.

"Does this heap have shields?" Craig asked.

"Don't let the look fool you, she's ready," Billa said and turned the engine on, it was silent. He looked at us and banged the side of a panel and it started up. Was I worried...no ... I was shitting myself.

"Is she space worthy?" Lacka asks and he looked none too convinced as we all were somewhat sceptical.

"Yes, she will get you to where you need to be," Billa replied.

"Look, it's getting late, we will rest tonight and leave first thing," Lacka added.

"Do we have a place to sleep, Billa" Craig asked.

He talks to the rather cute guy we met when we first arrived and I could see Craig smile at me, shit, he knows I think the guy is hot, fuck!!.

Craig walks over squeezes my arm and whispers softly into my ear. "My Ro-Lok, remember you are mine, and from now on, you are on a diet of me, and me only, I will not stop you looking at the menu, but you can only ever sample me." he smiled and stepped away. Fuck my Ro-Lok is so fucking hot!!

And I just looked at him and said in my mind. Only ever you, my Ro-Lok and he smiled and nodded and I could hear what he was thinking. And he exuded only love, and that love is only for me.

"This way, guys," Lacka said and followed the cute guy who I am not now or will ever be attracted to, and again Craig squeezed my arm as I thought it.

We entered a shed that had been set up for farm workers; I grabbed a bunk and just crashed. Craig took the one next to mine and he just stared at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing, just thinking of what I had done so right to find you," he replied and leaned down and kissed me. "Get some sleep, tomorrow is going to be a long day," he added.

We'd just settled down when Billa and Lacka come in and shouted at us to move. "What the fuck!" I yelled back."

"They know where we are, I took our stuff off of the transport and Billa spotted something on the underside of the hull, it's a beacon of sorts, they are tracking us, we need to go, now," he insisted. And we jumped and grabbed our stuff and headed for the ship.

"Judak had transformed, he was trying to pick up any scent;" Lacka added as we approached the small ship inside a large hangar.

"How long?" Lacka asked.

"Not long; strap in, this is going to be jumpy," Billa declared as we strapped in. Lacka was looking intently at the surrounding area. His heat tracing sight scope scowering the distance. He spotted Judak making his way back and transforming back to humanoid shape and shaking his head.

"Okay, go now!" he yells and we take off vertically and Billa said this was a Junker, but fuck, it is fast. "Look there just to the left of he shed" Lacka points, and a small drone ship was about to follow us.

"Craiglessty, on the gun. Lacka, up front. I need you at tactical!" Billa yelled. And yeah me duck!!.

"Keep firing at it, Lacka, tell me when you have the target locked!" Billa yelled and Lacka pressed all sorts of controls and eventually he yelled. "Got it!" and Billa returned with, "Fire!"

Two flashes of green light come from under the ship but miss the target. But the light reverses and attacks the drone and after a few swerves and dips, the green light destroys the drone.

"Yes!!" Lacka smiled and then shouted at Billa.

"We need to set down and check over the ship. We need to know we are not bugged," he insisted. And Billa flew towards a mountainous region and we set down on a plateau. We checked for almost two hours, and detected nothing.

"Why didn't it fire? it had weapons," Lacka said to Billa. "It was following us, Litral needs to find his brother as much as we do, and this means he does not know where he is," Billa replied.

"he needs to find him and fast, he has manned ships sitting, waiting, he has control over the human males or some, at least. But it will loosen after a while, and he will have some pissed of humans and they will be heavily armed, he cannot win if that happens," Lacka replied.

"He won't let that happen, he's had the chips altered," Billa replied and looked angry when he said it. "Altered, in what way?" I asked. "He will kill them, all of them," Billa replied. "They have kill switches," he added.

"Craiglessty, when your father examined the one's he took out of Major Barnes and you, Bobby, they exploded. As soon as he tried to examine them, they exploded," Billa replied.

"You knew about this?" Craig asked Lacka. "Yes," he replied and no malice intended "So if they fight, they die, and if he has no use for them they die," I bemoan. As of the last count, over 32 million males have this chip, and for a few hours I was one of them.

"Litral needs this thing; his brother has it, or knows where it is we find him, we somehow take control of the device and we bargain with Litral for the removal of the chips safely," Lacka informed us.

"And why would he bargain for us, he holds the cards?" I asked.

"No he doesn't, if we control the device, therefore the ability to alter time, what is stopping us from going back and stopping his family line. That will have him stop and think" Lacka added.

"First we have to find Dallam" Judak reminded us.

"All hatches sealed, strap in tight, guys!" Billa yells as we leave orbit, and my stomach lurched. I felt like I was going to vomit, Craig was rubbing my back, I mean I have always, like most teenagers, wanted to go into space, but on a ship like Voyager or the Enterprise, not something that resembles a garbage truck.

"Judak, check the scanners; see if we are being followed," Billa instructed,

"Nothing, I think we got away with it." Judak smiled.

Back with Litral and Bide...

"Incompetence! I am surrounded by incompetence!" Litral bemoaned.

"Sir, they somehow detected the drone, and well...they destroyed it, sir!" he said,

and awaited his fate, he less than an hour ago executed the young flyer who had failed to carry out Litral's orders and had paid with his life.

"Sir, we do have a prisoner, his ship was used for escape, I think he will talk...in time," Bide added hoping this would save his life.

"He'd better talk, commander, your reputation depends on his information, and not just your reputation. Do I make myself clear?" Litral added with some menace.

"Yes sir, he will talk, I take it I can use everything at my disposal" Bide asked.

"Everything!" Litral replies.

Back with the guys, somewhere in space with no direction plotted.

"Okay, so where do we head now?" I asked, as we didn't have a direction yet.

"We need help, we need someone who would know where he might go, someone who would give him shelter," Lacka started and like a light turned on in his head, he thought of someone.

"Lacka?" Craig asks

"All his family abandoned him or were killed, all except one, his sister. Litral does not bother with her, they do not share the same mother, so he does not class her as his family, she took holy orders and I believe she is on Bokite. If anyone knows where he might head, it is her," Lacka said with an unreadable expression.

"No, she' is not," Judak proclaimed

"How do you know this" Craig asked.

"She left several years ago, she left and travelled with a few we believe to be Krile, she went as a holy pilgrimage to help save the Lokites, beg for a vaccine to help the woman give birth to girls," Judak remembered this from his past.

"But that was seven years ago, she should have come back by now," I insisted. "Nobody came back, we presumed they all died," Judak added.

"We have to check, we have no leads, otherwise," Craig added.

"Billa, Krile" Lacka ordered and the ship changed course and headed to the Krile home world.

"Lord Lakkin-Do would come in handy about now," I added.
