Chapter 22: A Memory of the Day

My eyes adjusted as I woke up and saw the sunlight break through the window and the birds outside. I looked around and saw Lindsey, still asleep. I slid his arm from around my waist and moved from the bed, I looked out the window out onto 'Wisteria Lane'. Haha, okay, not Wisteria Lane, but as close to it as it gets. I guess I had been watching too much t.v., but things had begun coming back to me. Buffy, Willow, Xander...Dawn. Sunnydale. Willow had gone crazy and she was gone, so when...but they said Willow was there. They. Wolfram and Hart. I had been on missions with them, saving people. They did order me to kill people, but in the name of good. I actually didn't. I couldn't and soon I'd have to. Something told me not to. Then my mind shot back to...to...the Scoobys. the blonde, the red head....but the eyepatch...I can't remember! I should remember. Amy and her boyfriend...eww, the skinless man, are the only ones besides me that made it.

"Hey, sweetie." Lindsey smiled from bed.

I slowly turned from the window and tried to smile at him, but it didn't come as a smile.

"What?" Lindsey asked, " What's wrong?"

"Nothing, nothing, I just..." I said quickly, " It's just, this whole Wisteria Lane thing is...off-putting. I live here, with you. I thought we'd live closer to the city, we don't seem like commuters. And then, I should be grieving. I still don't know why I was there."

"There?" Lindsey asked.

"Sunnydale." I said simply, " What was I doing there? I've asked you so many questions and you've give me the run around. I love you, I think, we live here, and I love t.v., yet you can't explain to me why the school is letting me rid for my amnesia. And why am I this strong? It makes me think..." but I stopped.

"What?" Lindsey asked, getting up from the bed.

I shook my head, " It makes me think that I'm not just some kid that hangs out with the Slayer's little sister." I said angrily.

Lindsey was about to say something when his cell phone rang and he answered it, walking from the room so I couldn't hear it. I nodded. He did this often and it annoyed me on a level you wouldn't believe. I wished he would say what he needed...I wish I could say what I needed...I wanted to leave. To pack my bags and leave. But somehow I felt this stuff wasn't mine. I could feel it. I paced back and forth, thinking so hard to remember my life and why I was at the Sunnydale Crater. Why had I gone back? I was pacing when I looked down and saw a loose floorboard and I leaned down to fix it, but it slid back to reveal a very nice cross. I immediately felt as if it were mine. I wanted it and took it from the empty space and slid the loose piece of smooth wood over the empty space...the wood felt natural to me. I stood as Lindsey walked into the room.

He slammed his cell phone shut and looked at me, " Hey, sorry about that baby. I have to go to the office. There's, umm, a few lost documents." he said, kissing me on the cheek.

"I should come." I said, holding my new cross behind my neck.

"Why?" he asked.

"I need to get out of here. Please?" I asked.

Lindsey thought about it for a minute and smiled, " Sure, be ready in five minutes. The limo's picking us up." he said, going to the bathroom.

"I'm telling you the spell worked! I felt him!" Doug said to Groo.

"How are you so sure?" Groo asked.

"I felt him. He's here somewhere." Doug said, causing Groo to look around, "Not literally. I mean he's in this city...or at least this dimension."

"Oh, that is, oddly comforting." Groo said, walking to the stairs, " Have you shared your belief with Oz or Dawn?"

"no. They're on the warpath." Doug frowned, " So freakin mean."

At that moment, Kelly swaggered through the door with posters in hand. She swept past the boys and sat on the weird looking chair outside the office.

"Tough day?" Doug joked.

Kelly huffed and looked at him, " Don't screw with me, I've been hanging posters all over campus and for what?! If anyone's seen him or Connor, then they wouldn't be exactly be trying to talk to me. More like eat me." she sighed.

"true." Doug smirked.

"Plus we don't even know if he's in this dimension." Kelly said, " Or alive.

"He's alive." Groo said impatiently staring at Kelly.

Kelly rolled her eyes and groaned, " Sorry, I know he's alive, but...what if he isn't? That throws a big wrench in Buffy's plan, right?" she asked.

"Big time." Doug said, " Lately, I've been reading books on the slayer and the Slayers and...there's no mention of a freaking male slayer! He's important. I think he's more important than we know. I'm getting some scrolls..."

"Scrolls?" Kelly asked.

"Prehistoric. Meaning, the time the slayers were made, don't ask/ There is this thing where I beg and give up lots of money and I get some super duper special scrolls. Doug said, walking to her, " Then the only thing I'll have to do is decode them."

"Sounds fun." Kelly said sarcastically, leaning back in her chair.

"So this whole time, he's all treating me like a kid and being secretive. Then there was the way we 'met'. And even if we met while he was saving me from some big demony...demon, and I would never move in with my first real boyfriend...I'm eighteen for crying out loud! It's just hard, you know. And then there is college. He brings me my homework and hires tutors and...you know what." I ranted, " I'm going to my college."

' I think that would be wise" Titan said. I liked him. He was an old soul...I think more literally than metaphorically. He's a good listener and pretty sexy. He and Lindsey rarely agreed about anything, which made me wonder how they worked together...or, more of why they do.

"You do?" I asked.

"Yes. It is a shame to be cooped up, all I ask is that you read this." he said, handing me a folder filled with papers.

"Wha..." I began.

"Just read it. It's the feel good document of the year." he smiled.

I nodded as I left the office, finally doing something myself.

Dawn and Oz walked to Austin's class, and talked to his teacher, but were stunned to find that Austin had been to school.

"What? No, Austin is..." but Dawn stopped and looked at Oz.

Oz nodded, " Thanks professor." he said, walking away with dawn.

Once they were in the hall and walking, Dawn looked over at Oz, " What...he's been here? why hasn't he come looking for us/" she asked, " Maybe he did, huh?"

"No. It's been months. Something is wrong." Oz said impatiently, " I think we should regroup and see where we stand."

Dawn nodded, " I'm gonna hang around campus, see if I can see if anyone's see n him." she said, I think we should try that spell again and maybe we should call Buffy and the gang, cause this is weird."

"Be careful." Oz said walking away.

Dawn nodded and walked back to the class. She knew who she'd start with, the professor. If she got there soon enough she was on her way back and noticed that the door was closed. She looked down the hall and noticed the professor talking to someone. The someone was cute, with his red and black leather coat with white stripes down the side, then the jeans and black t-shirt. And the tennis shoes accentuated the outfit just right. It was then that Dawn noticed who it was!

"AUSTIN!" Dawn shouted and the guy looked her way, but as he did, the bell rang and the hall was clogged with people. When the hall cleared enough, she found the professor, but Austin had disappeared, " Where'd he go?" Dawn said to herself.

"Austin Young? Wolfram and Hart, I believe. He's been interning there." the professor smiled.

Dawn eyed him, then figured out what he said and immediately took out her cell phone and dialed Oz's number.

I grabbed an axe and headed to do anew assignment. I was going to kill some lady. I had struggled with killing some lady, but when Lindsey told me the truth, that she was a bad woman who was planning to do evil things, I felt better about it. I walked up to her house, ready to attack her, but as I got there, I noticed that she had her family, so I had my axe. I slowly walked up, fearing I couldn't do it. She had a husband and a kid...this wasn't...but she was evil. Somehow. I walked up to her and she smiled up at me.

"Hello, are you new to the neighborhood?" she smiled.

I shifted and smiled at her, " Yeah. I was just dropping in to say hi." I smiled.

"Do I know you?" she asked.

"No, but I think I know you." I smirked, " Regular woman until you got super strong? But I can relate."

"Charlyn, go into the house." she said.

"Mary, come on now. I could have brought some hooded frien..." I stopped when a flash of me fighting my allies ran through my mind, but I stared back at her, " you were woman, now you're...woman-er."

"How would you know?" she said, watching her daughter go into the house.

"Cute kid." I smirked.

"Stay away from my child." Mary commanded.

I threw up my hands, " Don't worry, I'm not a pedophile. And believe me, she's not my type." I said, stepping closer to Mary, and she moved backwards, " Come on, Mare, I just want to have fun."

"Fun? Who are you?" she asked, fully terrified.

I smiled, " I'm...bored." I said, punching her in the face. Her husband immediately came from the house and I threw him into his parked car, then walked back to Mary, " Got a real cutie...and manly too. Got a quaint little house and stuff. I had this. I have this. Very boring." I said moving towards her. She got to her feet surprisingly fast and she kicked me in the stomach, " Girls." I said, grabbing her hair, " You want to pale the rol..." I stopped when I felt a twinge and remember, " Charity." I said and she flipped me onto my back. Then we both got o our feet and she punched at me, but I kneed her in the stomach and punched her to the ground.

"My BABY!" she cried.

"I didn't touch your kid." I said defensively.

"NO! I'm pregnant!" she cried, " A boy...I'm naming him Connor."

At that moment, my memories shot back into my head and I felt pain shoot through my head and I stood, watching her, " Oh, god, I'm so sorry." I said, realizing what I'd done.

"Get away from me!" she shouted.

I looked around and noticed that people were starting to come out of their houses and I used my slayer speed to run away as quickly as I could.

Dawn and the gang headed to Wolfram and Hart, this time determined to leave with Austin. Dawn was focused with her sword. she wouldn't stop until she saw her friend...s. There was the question as to where Connor was. Connor was missing too. They knew that and they were working on finding him, but they had to work with what they knew and the only think they knew was that Austin was at Wolfram and Hart. They walked into the lobby to be met by a different guard, a bigger one.

"Who are you?" the guard asked.

"What?" Doug asked, " You'd ask who we are? You don't know us?! We are the...um.."

"Magic Bitches." Kelly blurted.

Doug and the rest of the gang looked at her in shock, " Yes, we're the Magic Bit-ches and we're here to meet with Lindsey." he smirked.

"Do some magic." the guard said.

Dawn kicked the guard in the balls and punched him with the hilt of the sword, then looked at Doug, " Go ahead." she smirked.

"Abracadabra!" he yelled, causing the guard a toad, " Curiosity kills the toad...then eats his legs."

"Of course, that's the story I like." Dawn said, punching the button behind the console, " No princes, no blood, no clean-up." she said, walking to the hidden elevator. They rode the elevator up, all thinking the same thing. The last time they did this, they lost important friends.

"Scared?" Doug asked Kelly.

"Nah, just thinking about these cute Manolos." she smiled.

"That's my girl." he smiled, hugging her, " Always the little, blonde stereotype."

The door to the elevator opened and they stepped out. The gang moved to the center of the lobby and stopped. They were met by many guards.

"Ready guys?" Dawn yelled.

"This all they got?" Groo asked.

"No." Lindsey smiled, stepping rom behind them with a small group of binders, " Scary things are hard to pay."

"Where is he?" dawn asked angrily.

"Who?" Lindsey asked casually.

Oz raised his crossbow and shot as close to Lindsey as he could without hitting him, " I'm getting good with this thing." he said.

"you'll have to catch me first." Lindsey smirked, running off.

As the gang, the guards, and the binders moved towards each other, I crashed through the roof! Everyone looked at me and I looked at both groups, " Building's on lock-down." I said, kicking a guard in the face! That began the fight! A bringer ran at me and I moved and grabbed his knives, stabbing him and using them to stab another, then I punched a guard and kicked a bringer into Dawn's sword, which she used to cut him diagonally! I stopped as the papers fell from my pocket onto the floor. I picked them up, reading them in the midst of all the fighting and it explained everything bout my life. It would have helped me remember, Titan was helping me and all I had to do is listen! Lindsey had been lying and...it had been months since I'd been gone, the n I showed up at Sunnydale.

Dawn kicked a bringer and did a monkey flip, causing the bringer to smash against the wall and fall, then walked to me, " AUSTIN!" she said, hugging me.

I shook her off and pushed her back as a bringer tried to slice one of us up, but I grabbed Dawn's sword and impaled him, " Dawn, get the van ready." I said, pushing my way through the group and headed to the office. Lindsey looked my way and brought me into a kiss.

"Austin, I was so worried." Lindsey said, breaking the kiss.

"my name is Austin Young..." I said, staring angrily at Lindsey.

Lindsey looked backwards, " I know, baby, we have to get out of here!" he said scaredy, " And stop you from quoting movies."

"...And I remember everything." I said bitterly.

Lindsey looked back to me, then moved away. I moved closer to him and Titan stepped from the shadows, wielding the orb that once contained my memories.

"hello, friend." Titan smirked.

"I always liked Resident Evil...Is there any last, and I do mean last, words?" I asked, grabbing him by the neck.

"If you kill me, you won't..." Lindsey began.

My grip tightened, " Bored now." I said, throwing him against the wall, " You took me away from my friends for months, then let me run around memory-less for week and you almost made me..." I stopped, " Suffer is a words. Know, cause you're a bout to live it."

"It would not be wise to kill him." Titan said, " Funny, but not wise."

"Despite what you think, I'm not dumb. All those weeks when you thought I was just sitting back, I was checking records and before they didn't make sense, but with my memories...they fit. I know that you're here on trial, so I really can't kill you, but I can try." I said happily.

"Well, what're you going to do?" Lindsey asked.

"I'm gonna play my role, bitch!" I said, grabbing a letter opener off the table and jamming it into his gut, " Baby, I'm so leaving." I said, walking away with Titan. We walked fast so we couldn't get caught and as we got outside, an alarm went off. I looked to Titan and a van swerved around the corner and the door swung open to show Dawn waving me in. She jumped out and hugged me, and I closed my eyes, ready to be with my friends again. I turned to thank Titan, but as I did, I noticed he had gone.
