Chapter 36: Groo-wn Apart

"Unh!" I grunted, kicking the vampire in the face, " He called and no one said a word to me! He could have something important!" I said, punching the vampire into a wall, " He's all 'Oooh, I'm Connor and I think we should break up because I'm Angel's son and I wanna brood and be unhappy forever because I'm a complete and total..."

"Are you talking to me?" the vampire asked.

I staked him, " Nobody ever listens, even when I'm kicking their asses." I said, turning to see a vampire, who knocked me on my ass! I strugged to find my stake, but all of a sudden the vamp dusted.

"We listen. You just have a habit of saying nothing." Groo smirked, " Hi."

"Holy shi..." I said quickly.

"This is where you metriculate?" Groo asked, looking around, " It is very nice."

"Thanks." I said, sitting across the table from him.

"Why do you sit so far away from me?" he asked nervously, " I am so..."

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

Groo sighed, " Well, I went back to Los Angeles....and you're all here now." he said.

"Yeah, L.A. literally went to hell. Ironic, huh?" I said quickly, " You disappeared. No calls, no...it was sudden."

"I know, and I am sorry. I am sorry I disappeared, Titan convinced me that I was the weak link." Groo said quickly.

"And you believed him?" I asked.

"Not at first." Groo asked.

"Groo. Angel and the crew are in L.A., that's in Hell." I explained.

Groo was silent, he looked as if he was thinking about it, " Where is everyone?" he asked, " Does Doug not stay here?"

"Not now. I don't think he'll be coming here for a while." I said, " I found out about you coming and the last time I saw them was when Faith and Charity left."

"Faith and Charity?!" Groo asked, disgusted at the very thought.

"Yeah, Wolfram and Hart vs. Charity. It's all pretty standard. The enemy of her enemy would be us." I said, " She's on this redemption thing. Everybody's doing it."

"So, have you been in contact with Connor...before the Hell trip?" Groo asked.

I looked at him, my mouth gaping, " I ummm, no. He called, but it was pretty...cut...cut and dry." I said nervously.

"Something is going on here." Groo said.

"Yeah, I don't know. I told my friends that I can't sense any big bad, but the truth is that I felt it before I even got here." I said, looking around.

"I was talking about...nevermind." Groo smiled, " How is big and Bad?" Groo asked.

"Hellmouth big bad?" I said, " But not regular Hellmouth. Sunnydale Hellmouth. A Super-Mouth."

"Super-Mouth?" Groo asked, " Do you need me to stay?"

"No. Me and my four friends have to shut down a Hellmouth. No biggie." I smiled.

"Four friends?" Groo asked.

"Well, yeah, granted, the fourth one doesn't know anything about what I do or anything, but I can't keep a secret." I said quickly.

"Wait, so, who is this 'friend'?" Groo asked.

Just then the doorbell rang and we both looked towards the door.

"Would that be the 'friend'?' Groo asked.

I walked to the door and opened it to see RJ with roses. White ones, that smelled so great. I smiled and took them, " Roses? What's up with you?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just...umm, I heard that some people I know, you know from here and there, saw you with some guy. A cute guy." RJ said nervously looking past me to Groo, " Oh, you do have..."

"A friend. An old friend." I said, chancing a glance back to Groo, " A best friend."

"SO, you're not daing us both?" RJ asked.

"No. I'm dating you." I chuckled.

"You are?" Groo asked.

I turned to him, " Well, yeah." I said slowly.

Groo smiled, " Great." he said.

"I think I need to talk to Austin alone." RJ said grumpily.

"I will go when he wishes I go." Groo said.

They stepped face to face.

"I...you guys shouldn't...Hell go ahead." I said moving from between them.

Groo reared back and let go, but I caught his fist.

"I was kidding, God!" I sighed.

RJ took advantage of this and punched Groo!

"RJ!" I said, walking over and checking Groo out.

"What?" RJ asked innocently.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"I am leaving." Groo said, slamming the door on his way out.

"Crap!" I said, " Why'd you do that?"

"Because..." RJ said.

"Why? What?!" I asked.

"Because..." RJ said.

"Well. Whatever, you didn't have to go 5000 B.C." I said angrily.

RJ sighed, " So, what?" he asked.

"You should go." I said, " I'm going to find my friend and you should go home."

"Really? You're making me leave?" RJ asked.

"It would only be right since I'm leaving." I said, walking to the door.

RJ sighed, " Okay, I get it, hitting your 'friend' wasn't the best idea, but it was what I had." he said, " I mean we've been dating for a while now and I feel like you still don't trust me. There's something you're not saying and I haven't asked because I feel guilty about the way our relationship went the first time. I seriously like you."

I sighed, " You're jealous, just admit it." I said.

"Do I have a reason to be?" RJ asked.

I looked down and shook my head in disbelief.

"Right." RJ said, walking through the doorway, " When you realize what you want, call me." he said, leaving.

Groo was so pissed off at Austin for letting that ass hit him! What? Groo couldn't hit the guy, but the guy could hit him? Groo had come back to check on him, to make sure he was alright. Groo made his way to Club Silver, trying to find Kelly, Doug, or Oz. He walked into the club in an attempt to find them. He found Oz at the table by himself and walked up to him.

"Oz!" Groo said, shaking his hand and giving him a hug.

"Groo." Oz smiled, " When'd you get here?"

"A few hours ago." Groo said, taking a seat, " Where's everybody?"

Oz pointed them all out, " Kelly's over there, scoring free drinks, Doug is over there with some chick, Jimanji, I think, and here I am." he said, " Have you seen..."

"Yup." Groo said, pointing to his nose.

"He did that?" Oz asked.

"No." Groo said, " His boyfriend."

"He could do better." Oz said quietly, " There are better people."

"People?" Groo asked.

"You know what I mean." Oz said, looking to Groo.

"Yeah?" Groo said, " I came here to..."

"Rescue him?" Oz asked.

"Yes." Groo said, " But I guess some people do not need to be rescued."

"He just doesn't need it now." Oz said, " Here comes Kelly and Doug."

Kelly, Doug, and his friend walk over to the table.

"GROO!" Kelly said, hugging him.

"HEY!" Doug said, shaking Groo's hand, " I didn't know you were coming to our humble little town."

"I just got here a few hours ago, who's your friend?" Groo asked.

"Her name is Gemma." Doug smiled, " Gemma, this is my friend, Groo." Doug said, introducing them.

"Hello, nice to meet you." Groo smirked.

"Oy! You've gotten quite a shiner!" Gemma said, touching his eye, " A little spell could..."

Kelly looked at her angrily.

"Or not." she said, taking a seat.

"So, yeah, I'm here looking for Groo..." I said into my phone, " I'm sure there's not a...Dawn, there's interference. There's not a Hellmouth. Not visible. I checked the High School, no demonies. Just some real bad-ass kids, irate teenagers with nothing to do but sulk..." I trailed off as I walked past the University and saw something coming from the building. The thing was scabby and looked sickly, " Dawn, I'm gonna have to get back to you. There's something scabby coming from the student center. Ok, bye." I said, haning up. I watched the creepy little thing as it ran across campus in its little robes. I watched, trying to decide if I wanted to follow it or not.

"So, you're a witch too? Austin didn't mention..." Groo said as he stared around the table at Oz, his friend, Luciana, Doug, and his new friend, Gemma, and Kelly.

"Yeah, and I'm a bloody good one." Gemma smiled.

"I bet." Groo said, watching Gemma and Doug make out, " Does Austin know any of this?"

"Who's Austin?" Luciana asked.

"Our best friend." oug said, " You've never met him."

"Makes sense." Gemma chuckled, " When do we get to meet him?"

"When he feels like talking to us again." Kelly said sadly.

"Why'd 'e stop talking to you?" Gemma asked.

"He found out that another friend called and we neglected to tell him." Doug answered.

"Why'd he...did 'hey have a disagreement?" Gemma asked.

"Yeah. You can say so." I said, walking up to the table.

They all stared at me.

"'Ho are you?" Gemma asked.

"I would be the topic of discussion." I said quickly.

"Where's your boyfriend?" Groo asked.

"Boyfriend?" Luciana asked, " Kinky."

I raised my eyebrow at her, then turned back to Groo, " Funny, since you came to town, I don't seem to have one." I sighed.

"I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing." Groo said.

Kelly stood and hugged me, " Oh my gosh, I missed you!" she squeaked, " You are here to say hi to everyone, not just Groo, right? Doesn't matter! HI!"

"Hi." I said, " Can we talk?" I asked Groo.

"Um, sure." Groo said getting up and following me outside.

Groo chuckled as we got outside, " So, you're not gonna double team me, are you?" he joked.

"As long as you don't transform into a six foot, green-eyed guy, I'm not gonna clobber you. I'm sorry about the boyfriend. He's jealous." I smirked.

"He should not be." Groo smirked back at me.

"No. He shouldn't be." I said, " We are too great of friends for that. Plus, I love him."

Groo smiled, " I'll be at Oz's." he said, " Until I find a way to L.A."

"You sure? I have room." I said.

"It's just better." Groo sighed, " You wanna go in? They really miss you."

I shook my head, " I have to find my boyfriend. There's a lot I need to share with him." I said, walking away.

Groo smirked as he saw me leaving and transformed into Titan, " Breathe while you can, Slayer." he said maniacally.

Kelly went back to the bar to get the rest of the drinks when she bumped into a woman. She immediately recognized the woman to be her best friend's cousin's stylist's sister.

"Hey!" Kelly said, " What're you doing here?'

"I'm just here for a few days. I was thinking of moving here, but there was issues." the woman said.

"Issues?" Kelly said.

"The Hellmouth. The new one." the woman smirked.

"You know about Hellmouths, Juhak?" Kelly asked.

"Of course. The one underneath this town is pretty bad. The school is into some deep evil. I'm the new counselor here." Juhak smiled.

"The High School doesn't seem..." Kelly said.

"No. The University." Juhak said, " Well, I've gotta be going. See ya, sweetie." she said, leaving.

RJ walked into the cemetary and immediately noticed me getting thrown around and started to run after him!

"Stop!" I shouted. I kicked the guy in the chest and brought out a piece of wood, my stake, and jammed it into the guy making him turn to dust, " You wanted to know my secret...there it is." I said, pointing at the dust, " I'm the Slayer."
