Chapter 42: Nobody Knew

DUST! One down. I jumped over the foot that was about to take me down, then kicked the poor vampire in the face, causing him to lie on his back. I staked him and smiled happily at a job well done.

"Bet you miss that whole solid body thing." I quipped turning to see Titan, " Well, look at you. Walking again, I see."

"I have to, I can't teleport. Some gang of thieves took my powers." Titan smirked, " And what a genius plan, must have been the wolf's, how is he?"

I lost my smile, " You're human now. I might just start being a 'bad' slayer if you don't run along and play with all the other non-magical kiddies." I said, walking past him.

"Good one. I just hope Oz'll remember it." Titan said quickly.

I turned to him, " You threw a desk at him." I said.

"At you..." Titan corrected.

"At me, hitting him and causing him not to remember me for weeks. Or Doug. Or Kelly. Or Gemma. Nothing after the fall of Sunnydale. He's better now." I vented, " I should kill you right now, but I'm really lazy lately."

"I see." Titan said, " So, how are the rest of the group?"

"Peachy. Why do you care?" I asked.

"Just an inquiry from your grandparents." Titan smirked.

I paused.

"They were pleased with your display in their office." Titan said.

I shrugged, " Who cares. I hadn't seen them since I was like twelve. So, their opinons aren't really massive. Besides, you need more make-up, those bruises are starting to show." I said, turning once again.

"They did give me something to give to you." Titan said.

"Yeah, wha..." I said, turning and getting hit with something.

Kelly and Doug walked down the street, sipping their coffee. They had begun the day as normally as the could. Kelly was now seeing a new guy, some guy from some magic shop. He was a cutie. For someone who hadn't been shy about guys, she was shy about guy. One guy. This guy. And Doug had been dating Gemma...sort of.

"So, how is Callum?" Doug asked.

Kelly blushed, " He is great. I mean, he's smart and funny and cute and...his name is Cale." she blushed.

"You're in like?" Doug asked.

"No. Well, yeah, but I know where you're going." Kelly smirked, " It's not that far yet."

"It might be." Doug smirked, " At least someone's getting some."

"I'm not. We're not! I mean, Gemma and you are bunnies, but..." Kelly stammered.

"Chill, I was just kidding." Doug smiled as they headed to class.

The music blared and I found myself on the second floor balcony, watching the party. It wasn't really a party, just another day in the little L.A. club. L.A. had still not recovered from the devastation of Wolfram and Hart, but it looked much better than it had. The only thing I had for me right now was that I was alive. Even then....This new Hell-God was coming for me. Oz was half gone, half here. Groo was gone. Connor was gone. I had Doug and Kelly, but Buffy, and the Scoobies hadn't contacted me since...

"You work for Jay-Z?" The poor bimbo asked.

"Yes, the limo's outside." he said, leading her outside.

"Uh oh! Bullseye." I smirked, running down the stairs and speeding out the backdoor where I saw a group of four vampires surrounding a girl. Before I could say anything, they all jumped her, ripping her to pieces. I stared, unable to move.

One of them sniffed the air, " S-s-s-s-layer." One of them hissed.

I nodded and smiled nervously, " That seems to be my name these days." I said, looking around at them, noticing their odd facial tattoos, but it was too dark to make them out, " Did I miss the 'we're a religious yet unreligious cause hey i'm a freaky ass vampire' cult meeting?"

That seemed to piss them off as they moved in. I stood in the middle of them and knew that it was better to be at the center and not in the corner. I blocked one vampire before doing a cartwheel over another one and punching him in the face. With one backflip and a lurch forward, I staked the vampire that had hissed at me! I ducked and staked another one! I got punched and kicked into the wall before staking another vampire. Two down, three to go! The last three jumped backwards into a shadow on the wall! I walked forward, listening to the low growls.

"Come out, come out little fanged beats. Got some nice wood for you...I meant nice woode..." I said before something jumped on me! I rolled back and looked up to see one big vampire. It's eyes glowed a bright green energy and I panted harder, " Okay, when I said little fanged beasts...I meant it!"

The Big Vampire growled and hit me with both fists, causing me to burst through the wall and fall onto the stage while the band was playing. A band called, " Arlis Moon." They stopped and waited for me to stand.

I dusted off, " It's...It's okay, I just fell...through the wall." I said, running off the stage and out the back door. As I got outside, I heard the band. I ran into the beast and ducked his mighty hands. I flipped backwards and jumped up to a pole handing down and whirled upwards and came down, connecting my foot with his face and he shrieked. He grabbed me and slammed me into a wall. He stood a few feet away. I planned on waiting until he ran at me and moving, then using the loose power cords to do some serious damage. As it began to run at me, it stopped and a stake flew into its heart and it turned to dust, leaving Lestat to stare at me.

"Austin?" Connor's voice said behind me.

I looked at him, " Connor? I've been looking for you." I said quickly glancing back to see that Lestat had fled, " Ok, vampire go poof."

"What?" Connor asked, walking to me.

I shook my head and kissed him, " You don't know how much I missed you." I said breathlessly.

"I can imagine." he smiled, " Wanna go inside?" he asked.

I smirked, " sure." I said, following him into the club.

Cale was checking out customers as Kelly, gemma, and Oz sat at a table, trying to jog Oz's memory. Doug had gone to the bathroom to wash up. Take out food was coming, Cale smiled as the last customer left.

"So, where are we on this 'Sinew'?" Cale asked.

"Square negative one." Kelly sighed.

"Negative?" Cale asked.

"Oy, pretty negative if you ask me." gemma said, casting a petrified glance at Kelly, " We know that she's a Hell Goddess and she can't be beat."

"She'd probably need a key, so Dawn maybe be the target. We should let 'em know." Doug said, sliding in the booth with Gemma.

"No. Dawn and Buffy and the gang are dealing with other issues." Oz said without hinting at an emotion, " Has he called?"

"Nope. He's incommunicado. Or at least to us." Kelly said, lugging a book onto the table.

Doug shook his head, " I'm sure he's just not thinking with his phone." he said.

Gemma chuckled, " Thinkin wit his phone." she said, laughing again.

"Yeah, cause that was so funny." Kelly said in her most serious voice, " Okay, so it kind was, but still..."

"There is a nest of vampires not too far." Cale said.

They all looked at him.

"It's my job to know these sort of things, I'm the magical pusher." Cale said, putting a book on the shelf.

"So, do we go or not?" Doug asked.

"Not." Kelly said, " I'm all for doing some good, but are you kidding me? Before we had a slayer to put the karate on those nasty vamps, but we're down a slayer."

"I could always put the karate on some vampires." Doug said. He stopped when everyone looked at him, " Or, you know, Oz with the wolfie mojo he's packin."

"Even so..." Kelly pleaded, " I don't think this is the best idea."

"I saw we go. We got two bad ass wiccas, a werewolf and..." Gemma began.

"Two human beings." Kelly ended.

"Well, yeah, but we're all human." Cale smirked.

"I say we do it." Doug said.

"You think we can?" Kelly asked.

"Slayer, smayer." Doug said, casually, " I wonder if he's okay."

As Connor grinded his cock into me, I moaned for him to go deeper and he did. I had missed Connor and the sex...mostly Connor, but sex was such a close second. As he got closer and closer, I could feel myself get closer and closer. As I got to the maximum pleasure, I felt him buckle and we both came at the exact same time and he collapsed next to me with a smile.

"So, I guess you missed me too." I chuckled.

"More than you know." Connor smiled, leaning over to kiss my shoulder, " You know why I left, right?"

"I guess. I mean, I guess it's time for us all to move on." I said, laying beside him, " Do you think you'll come back?"

"To you, always...but right now, if you hadn't noticed, L.A.'s gone to hell." Connor smiled.

"Somewhat. I do remember seeing Angel riding around Hell on a dragon...and the mass of demons, not to mention the fires everywhere." I chuckled, " I'm going to Scotland."

"Just can't stay away from them, huh?" Connor said, rolling over and stretching his leg into his pants.

"I guess not. They are kinda my family now, other than..." I stopped, " Scotland's far away."

"You need money?" Connor asked, looking back at me.

I shook my head, " No...no...you still have money here?" I asked, causing him to raise an eyebrow at me, I smiled, " Right...Hell, sorry. I really missed you."

"How'd you get to Hell?" Connor asked.

"Not sure." I said.

Connor just stared for a second, " So, umm, this Hell God...Buffy died when she went up against one." he said.

"Only because the portal was already opened." I frowned, " I don't have Summer's blood."

"Shouldn't you be there? What are you searching for?" Connor asked.

"People keep asking me, but I'm not sure." I said, sitting up.

Connor sat beside me on the bed, putting his arms around me, " Maybe you don't have to go home. Maybe you should stay here." he said.

"I'm a really LONG WAY FROM HOME. Everything just feels like a CHAIN reaction and it's leading to no future. Not for me, her, him...NO FUTURE FOR YOU." I said, with a feeling of unintentional dread, " The Twilight's coming...It'll be a Beautiful Sunset...and, as fortune cookie as it sounds, There are quite a few WOLVES AT THE GATE. I can't let myself..I'm not that lucky."

"You can't let yourself be that lucky?" Connor asked softly.

"I'm Chosen." I shrugged, " So I pretty much have no life. Upside, I get to bitch about it."

"Always a plus." he said, " When do you leave?"

I snuggled closer, " I just really don't want to think about it." I said, resting my head on his chest.

Gemma and Kelly walked through the cemetary, looking both ways before they took a step, as if a car could run them over at any time. As the girls walked out into the distance, a large, pale man in a tight green shirt and acid-washed jeans appeared. The man's face had taken the appearance of the 'beast' within. The vampire jumped on Gemma, taking her to the ground!

"Hey, shirt guy...there's pie." Kelly said, frantically trying to stake the vamp, but she missed the heart.

The vampire looked at her and hissed, " I didn't know there was a slayer of puns." he said.

"Hey, I'm a little nervous here!"kelly said, obviously offended.

Just then, Oz, Doug, and Cale ran over and pulled the vampire off Gemma and staked him.

"We can do it, see! I told you." Doug smiled proudly.

Gemma got to her feet, " Yeah, cause ya didn't have to be bait." she said angrily, " Ponce."

"He's right. We can." Kelly said triumphantly. She had a very happy smile on her face.

"Ok, now I miss Austin." Doug said.

They all nodded.

"How about Fish and chips?" Cale asked.

"How about Pizza?" Kelly suggested.

"I'll buy." Cale said.

"I'm so there!" Gemma said, following the group to get the pizza.

A vampire was walking through Rome, when all of a sudden he stopped. There was fresh meat just laying there, ready to be ravaged. The vampire crept towards it, making sure no one else was around. When he got to the guy, he smelled something, a slayer. He thought to ask why this slayer was male, but shrugged it off and leaned down to him, about to bite him when the guy's hand flew to his throat and the slayer's eyes snapped open!

"I have to leave." The Slayer said, seemingly to no one.

"Huh?" The vampire growled, looking around.

The Slayer looked around, wondering where Los Angeles went. He sighed and snapped the vampire's throat, causing the vampire to dust, he then got up and dusted himself off. The Slayer looked at the dawn and walked away, heading to Scotland. The Slayer didn't know whether to kill his grandparents...or to thank them.
