Gay

This is the first story I've ever written, I wrote it over the summer of last year and my writing skills have grown immensely. Although this is my first story I've wrote, I have published other stories on here and am currently working on one. Under the high school section, I have the One or the Other, which is a current project; Hayden's Story; and Gavin's Got Game. Under the college section, I have The After Party. The latter three stories all contain sexual content.

[Alex's perspective a month after Chad died]

This month has been so busy. First we had to have Chad's funeral. I barely got through that. Seeing Chad's face...pale... scratched...it was just too much. But after that things were still bad. I came out to my dad. He didn't take it too well. He divorced mom because she was for me. He then kicked us out. The Applegate's ended up taking us in despite the fact that it's technically my fault for what had happened to their son.

Now that all that pain is behind us, the four of us try to live normal lives again. Today is my first day back to GFHS. I definitely wasn't looking forward to all the questions everyone was going to ask. My mom woke me up an hour earlier than she normally did.

"Hey honey, the Applegate's want to have a special breakfast before you go to school."

"Okay mom." I said stretching. "I'll be down in a minute or two."

She left my room. I got out of bed and went to my closet. The Applegate's gave me Chad's clothes because we were the same size. I swore to them I would never wear them, in honor of his memory, but they said I should keep them...just in case.

I found my favorite shirt and put it on. It was a shirt Chad got me for my 16th birthday. It read `Don't hate me because I'm pretty'. I don't remember where that line is from but he had the shirt custom made for me. It had my face on the back.

I then changed my boxers and slipped on a pair of jeans. When I went to put on deodorant I saw Chad's necklace in my drawer. I looked at it and remembered that the last time I saw him alive, he was wearing it. I put his necklace on and headed down stairs.

"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Applegate." I said as I saw them sitting down in the kitchen.

"Well someone looks a little too happy on their first day back. " Chad's mom said with a smile.

"I'm just ready to start over at school. Since Chad's... incident...I feel like I should be a better person and today is the day I start." Chad's dad and mom hugged me and thanked me. After breakfast and a few laughs, I grabbed my backpack and headed out to my car. I drove all the way to school, fearing the questions. I was Chad's best friend so everyone was going to come to me. Sigh. I guess I have tell the truth.

I parked in my designated spot and got out of my car. So far no one has asked me anything. I was relieved until I realized that I still had a whole day of classes to get through. I walked to the cafeteria, paranoid that someone would ask me about Chad. But still, no one said one word. I finally reached the cafeteria. And there she was. Ciara. My girlfriend.

"Baby!" she ran up and hugged me. "Why haven't you called or texted me in a month! I went to your house and your dad said no one by Alex lived there."

"Ciara...I don't know how to tell you this but...I'm gay"

"...WHAT?!" Everyone looked over at us.

I then decided I was only going to tell this one more time today. "I'M GAY!" Everyone who wasn't paying attention was now. "So that means we're done."

"You don't end it, sweetie. I'M the one who ends it you stupid fag! You disgust me!"

"You know what Ciara? Get over it. I don't want you or you're loose pussy." She slapped me and walked off.

Everyone kept their eyes on me. Now the talk of the school was me coming out and Ciara slapping me across the face. I really didn't care. I was going to be myself from now on. I got my breakfast and sat down by myself. Some girl sat down beside me.

"I heard what happened." I just ignored her. "I'm DJ. I'm the president of the GSA here and I was wondering if you would like to join."

I looked over to her. I realized she was in my French class. "Sure. When's the meeting?"

"It's right after school. Can you make it?"

"Sure." I smiled. "And by the way I'm Alex."

"I know." I looked at her confused. "Jason talks about you nonstop." I still had a confused look and this time she giggled. "He's one of the guys in GSA."

"Oh! Okay. But I'm not really interested right now. The guy who made me realize I was gay."

"If you don't mind me asking...how did you realize it?"

"It was Chad. When he came out to me I thought I was straight. Two weeks later I thought I was straight, but he was the exception. Now I know for a fact that I was just dating girls to impress my dad. I want to finally be the real me and not some fake ass jock anymore."

DJ and I talked for the rest of breakfast. We then headed our separate ways. But before I could go to first period, I had to quit the basketball team. Coach was super pissed. He said it was because I turned into one of those queers. I just left his office after he said that. Did he really think that was going to make we want to be on the team?

All throughout my first three periods people were talking about me, Ciara, and Chad. I was in so much gossip today and I haven't even been here for a full day yet. But when I got to fourth I was happy to see DJ with an empty desk to her left. I sat down beside her and on the other side of me was a guy I've never really noticed before.

"Alex," DJ started to say, "this is Jay, your lover stalker mix." Jay blushed at this comment but then became sad because DJ just outed him to me. I had to admit he was cute, but it would be a while before I could get over Chad.

I put my hand out to him. "Hi Jay. I'm Alex, the newly gay guy." He smiled at the last part and shook my hand. "But I'm not on the market yet."

His smile faded a bit. "It's okay, Alex." That was the first thing I have ever heard him say. His voice reminded me of Chad. Maybe I would end up seeing more of Jay before I had expected.

The three of us also had lunch together. All we could talk about was the hot guys, the hot girls, and the GSA meeting today. I was so ready for change and this was going to be the best yet. After lunch I realized I had my last two periods with Jay and 6th period with DJ also.

Jay and I got in trouble a few times for talking in 5th, but in 6th, us three amigos were nearly sent to detention. But luckily we weren't. At the end of the day, the three of us walked to the GSA meeting. I don't know why but I was sweating pretty bad. We walked into the room and Jay and I sat at the desks while DJ had to go to the podium because she was the president.

"Okay club!" She started. "First announcement is we have a new member."

~ IMPORTANT ~

This story is a precursor to the actual Shawn's Turn. It contains information that may come in handy for the next part. Also. there are four chapters written by a friend of mine and I will tell you if they were written by her. Please DO NOT contact me and tell me how different those chapters are from the rest of the story and they are written completely differently. If you do I will most likely insult you. :D

Next: Chapter 5: Love Chad 4
