Chapter 2: Deeper into the rabbit hole

The day after the incident, John was furious and refused to let me leave with Dean and Sam. I just watched them fight with everything building inside me. Something about facing death had changed me and I couldn't get the yellow eyes out of my head.

Dean: Look, dad, there is two of us and one of you! I think we could protect him until you get back!

John turned his attention to Dean, who stood from the bed and walked over to him: Look, I'm responsible for him now and I think that he should come with me!

I stood and walked to him: What about what I want? Look, I'm responsible for me now. My father is dead...it killed him and now I'm alone!

It hit me...I'd never stopped to acknowledge that my father was dead...he was gone and nothing would bring him back! It hit me so hard I fell to my knees. Tears began to roll from my eyes and I couldn't breathe. " He's dead!" was all I could say. John picked me up and bent down to face level with me.

John: You're not alone anymore...you've got me...

Dean: And me...

Sam walked towards us: And me. Look, dad, Dean gets discharged and Chalis will come with us until you do what you need to do and we promise that he'll be okay.

John nodded in agreement. After Dean was discharged, we piled into the truck and headed miles away to a little town. Once we were secured in a motel room, John left to do something ( I never pressed the issue) and we stayed. We helped dean into bed, to which he protested, and Sam immediately began looking for something on the internet. I spent all day watching tv with Dean, who tried to repeatedly to get up, but I reassured him that soon he'd be able to. Every now and then, Sam would look over to us and smile, then go back to the search. Soon I had become very tired of the four walls that surrrounded us. I felt like a caged bird and I didn't like it, so I took a shower and changed into jeans and a t-shirt and put on my coat. Upon putting on my coat, I felt the bruises that had been put wthere when I was attacked by "it". I steadily put on the rest of the coat and headed towards the door, but I was stopped by Sam.

Sam: Where are you goin?

Me: Jeans, shoes, shirt...I figure I'm going out.

Dean: Not a good idea. I mean we should stick together.

Me: I know, but I'm sixteen and I'm going crazy. Please! I promise I'll stay where people are. Please?

Dean and Sam looked at each other and sighed.

Dean: Look, check in every 30 minutes...If you see anything out of the ordinary, run and be careful.

Sam: Please be careful.

Me: Don't worry, your dad won't get onto you about this...I'll make sure I come back.

Sam: It's not...You're like a new little brother.

I looked at him, a little disapointed: A brother...right...I'll be back.

I walked out the door, leaving Dean and Sam to their research...well, more Sam than Dean. I walked aimlessly down the sidewalk and watched the cars pass by and it seemed that the people here were either younger than I or older than Dean and Sam. I noticed the bulletin in the middle of the town and I read it. It read: Curfew is 6:34 p.m. I walked past the stores and resturaunts and everyone seemed to obey these rules as no one was out. I looked at my watch and saw that it was 6:00 and I had 34 minutes. I walked a little further and stopped when I saw two guys, one my age and one a little older than me. The one who was my age was blonde and looked as if he'd worked out for fun. The older guy, who looked to be around Dean's age, was a red-head, and added to his muscle was one of the most attractive people I've ever seen! I walked to them, but I noticed that the shadows had become larger and I glanced at my watch, iit read 6:33. My heart dropped as I looked back up and saw the guy my age become engulfed by the shadows and I ran and tackled the red-head, who just watched the shadow creep closer and closer. He got up and we ran to an open store, bu the people inside acted as if we weren't there as we pounded on the door!

Red-Head: They won't open the door...it's after curfew.

Me: Harsh rules. My name is Chalis Gordon.

Red-Head, shaking my hand: I'm Lucien, James Lucien.

Me: We've gotta get somewhere safe! Where I'm staying is very far away...where're you staying?

Before he could answer, something crashed and I turned my attention to the darkness. I noticed that as we moved, the darness had taken the town and the cars and buildings began to disappear.

Me: We've got no choice, we've gotta head back to the motel.

James: Okay, sure, but...umm, are you sure you're not leading me into darkness. Look, as long as we're inside, he doesn't care and we're safe, so there is a cabin around here and it's closer than the motel you're talking about.

I nodded and we set off in search of this cabin. It was a long jog and as we past trees and trees, I noticed that I didn't know anything about this guy, he could be taking me into the woods to rape me or something and I began to get scared. I felt uneasy the whole time and my "spidey sense" warned me that something wasn't right. My thoughts were interrupted by James as he announced that we were there. Just as we got to the cabin, out walked Dean, Sam, and John, all holding their noses.

Me: GUYS! Am I glad to see you...something's chasing us, but what are you doing up here?!

John: Chalis, get away from it!

I thought about it for a minute, then turned to see what he was talking about and James was standing there, but he was more pale and his eyes glowed darkly. He punched me so hard I flew into the Winchesters! When I woke up, the first thing I noticed was that we were tied up and James had left eh cabin. I then looked up and noticed that the cabin was filled with newspaper clippings about me and the Winchesters. More them were about me, as Dean and Sam, I take it, were very good at not being seen. The articles depicted tragedies and horror stories, mixed with stories of happy endings. In addition to the articles, there was a smell that made me feel like dying, then I noticed the blood on the walls and beds! Something struggled against my back and it scared me so much that I tried to run and was snatched back. I looked over and saw that the thing that was struggling was John.

John: I told everyone to stay in the motel and not to move!

Me: Sorry, I really am.

John: It's not your fault. You're not the adults...I knew...

Sam: that we'd screw up?

John: No...it doesn't matter. We need to get out of this.

Me: I got us into this, blame me. Sam and Dean warned me and tried to get me to stay but I didn't listen. If you're mad, be mad at me.

Dean, struggling: We're just glad you're okay. At least you found the demon.

It was like saying his name or the word demon made him come, as he walked into the room. His appearance wasn't the thing that scared me, it's the vibe I got from him. Why didn't I see it before? The shadow engulfed only one of the guys? I must be slipping.

James: Penny for your thoughts.

Me: Eat Me!

Dean, Sam, and John hadn't really heard me say anything bad before, so it was a shock to hear.

James, looking right at me: Potty mouth! I just might eat you, kid.

Me: Kid? Motherfu...

James: Ahhh, I like you. You see I've been wondering when the Winchesters would come, never dreamt that Chalis Gordon would accompany them.

Sam: What are you talking about?

James: Why don't you ask daddy here...

John: What?

James: You know what I'm talking about! These two are more alike than you'll let them know. You're trying to protect them, the young one in particular, but you can't...sooner or later...

James had moved closer to me and lowered his head down to me, then he forced his tongue into my mouth!

Sam: Get off him!

James turned his attention to Sam, then I kicked him in the balls and he stumbled back. I slipped my hands through the knot and ran to Sam, as he was closet, and untied him. He wiggled his hands free and hugged me.

Sam, turning to his father and brother: Untie them.

As I headed to the others, the demon hit me once again and knocked me through the bathroom door! i slid in and hit my head on the tub. I heard grunts and battle sounds before I actually regained consciousness and started to wake up. I looked up and underneath the sink was a knife. I smiled and unstrapped the knife, then climbed out of the whole in the door, just as Sam flew across the room!

James: You're awake! Ready for another round? I could go all night.

Me: Nah, you see I doubt you can handle me,

James frowned and ran at me, but I threw the knife and it sailed past him and into the rope holding John and Dean.

James: You missed...I'm a better shot. Too bad after all that you missed, though.

Me, smiling: Everyone I shoot, I hit a bullseye.

James looked back as Dean and John tackled him. I ran to Sam and shook him, but it didn't work, so I put my mouth on his and blew into his mouth. I felt air come back at me, it was minty, then I felt a tongue. I didn't resist and finally I broke it. He opened his eyes and realized it was me. He smiled, then gout up and pulled a book from his jacket.

John, helping Dean subdue James: Stay back, Chalis!

John and Dean had been fighting the demon this whole time and Sam had run to them, book in hand, and started reading from the book...it seemed to go on forever and then the demon exploded and sent everyone flying backwards!

Me,getting to my feet: I'm tired of getting knocked on my ass.

John, Dean, and Sam chuckled.

Me: What?

John: Getting knocked on your ass...

He turned to Dean and Sam.

Dean: What's that, like a right of passage in this family.

Sam: It's official.

Me: Yeah...not so sure that's a good thing.

We decided to leave and John and Dean left first and I went back to grab the knife I found under the sink and headed to the door. Sam opened the door, and for a minute our eyes connected and we had the same thought, our kiss, then we left the cabin.
