Chapter 23: The Pagemaster

A hunter, Johnathan Harper, was sprawled on the ceiling of the luxurious, old mansion. His screams muffled by the pinch of skin that had appeared across his lips and he squirmed, trying to get away from the hold. I stood on the floor, looking up.

"Come on, killing me is only going to be bad for you." I said

I undid the spell I had casted to take away his mouth, " You evil bastard!" he shouted.

"I'm trying to talk you down, literally." I smirked, " Look, you promise not to try and kill me and I promise I won't rip you apart."A gunshot went off and it took me point five seconds to turn and stop it with just my hands.

"I got a barrel full of...Chalis?" Dean said, looking above his gun.

"Hey. Give me a minute." I smiled, turning back to Johnny, " Can you tell this guy that I'm not evil?"

"You do have him on the ceiling." Dean said, walking to my side, " How long can you keep that bullet in the air?"

I dropped Johnny and turned to the bullet, " Go." I said, causing it to disappear.

Dean jumped, " Where'd it go?" he asked.

"I might need it later." I smiled chipperly.

"You're packing some power." Dean said, " What's a nice guy like you doin in a dump like this?"

"Can't say, you?" I asked.

"Demon hunting. Some evil witch is..." Dean stopped, " Oh..."

"Look, I've been around here trying to think of strategy to go into the zombie infested tombs below." I smirked, " Like how I made it all dramatic?"

"I miss it." Dean smiled, " So, how long do you think this 'mission' is going to take? Sam'll be psyched to see you again."

"No." I said quickly, " He can't know. Just like you can't."

"Whaddya mean? You're going to mess with my mind?" he asked.

"Only with your permission." I said, turning to him.

"You're not going to get it." he said, " Sam deserves to know."

"You mean you deserve to know." I corrected.

"That's what I meant." he stammered, " You just disappear, then reappear and I'm supposed to act like that's normal and let you erase my mind?"

"Yeah." I shrugged.

"NO." he said quickly.

"I thought you and Sam were dead." I said, watching him. As we conversed, Johnny got to his gun and shot at us, but it only hit me in the arm and I yelped, then grabbed him telekinetically and shoved him out the window, " Bitch!" I screamed after him.

"Are you okay?" Dean said, putting his gun down.

I pulled my hand off my arm and nodded, " Yeah, but I think I'm going to kill him now." I said, walking to the window.

"I don't think so." Dean said, " We don't kill, remember?"

"You don't kill. I'm all roses with it." I sneered.

"I don't think you are." Dean said, " Is this really you?"

"Yeah. You just need to chill." I groaned.

"The bullet's in there." Dean said, looking at it, " I think we could..."

I concentrated on the wound and the bullet began to slide out. I groaned as it did and soon, I felt it slide out, " No mas." I said, trying to form a smile.

Dean stared at me.

"What?" I asked.

"You're kidding, right? What've you been learning?" he asked.

"I've been learning how to use my magic correctly." I said, " I mean, there's nothing on t.v., wrestling...but there's not really a good women's divison and without Buffy and Charmed I'm lost." I stopped, " Do you know they took Veronica Mars and Girlfriends off air? And One Tree Hill gets taped...Tivo. Not many luxuries, but..." I stopped again to see Dean staring at me, " Gilmore Girls and Gossip Girl, hell, even Golden Girls."

"Where are you?" Dean asked, " Where is this place?"

I sighed, " You're not allowed there. No sex, candy...I miss the candy." I smirked at him, " I think I'm going to die without the sex."

"You too?" Dean smirked, " Come with us. We never did that whole 'Three-way' thing."

I chuckled, " It always comes back to us, doesn't it?" I asked.

"Dying man's wish." Dean said.

I turned to him, " If you ever say that again, I'm going to kill you myself." I said angrily, " Why are you so ready to die? Do you know where you're going?! Did you even stop to think how we...You know what....nevermind. I've said this before. What's going to make you fight? You aren't going to fight for Sam? For your potential kid? For me? The thing I love you for is that you're a fighter. You not fighting is just pathetic."

"What do you do when everything around you is falling?" Dean asked.

"You learn to hold on." I frowned, " I've gotta go fight."

"Where are you going?" Dean asked.

I stopped at the door, " To do what you apparently won't do...I'm probably going to die, but I'm going to die fighting." I said, leaving him there.

As I walked down to the basement, Dean followed me. I could tell he was thinking of something to say to me. He was wasting his breath and time. He should be trying to save himself, like I was. I wasn't going to let him go to Hell, even if I had to go myself. I got to the sealed door and looked at it intesely.

"You're really going to do this, it's suicide." Dean cautioned.

I turned to him, " Dean. I'm tired of waiting on Evil to make the first move. I'm going to kick its ass and take back my life...or, probably after this, lack thereof. Dean, if I have to die to save you and Sam, I will. I love you guys." I said honestly.

Dean looked at me, " I'd do the same for you and Sam, but can we at least discuss this?" he asked.

"Lilith isn't waiting." I said.

"You know about Lilith?" Dean asked, " What's she look like?"

"Doesn't matter." I said, turning to the door, " No questa domina Extermus lavamineea...." I stopped and felt something wrong, " Dean..."

"Just stay still." Dean said.

"Don't move." Johnathan Harper's voice came from behind us, " Look, here's how it's going to go, you're going to die and I'm going to leave."

I felt myself leave my body and suddenly, I was standing behind us, " You really don't wanna do that." I said, causing him to look away and Dean dove on him, " Kick his ass!"

Dean dove on him, punching him to the ground and taking his gun. John grabbed for the gun and I kicked it away! John looked up at me and frowned, " You're going to kill me now?" he asked.

"No." I sighed, looking at my body, " I'm going back to my body."

John looked shocked.

"We're not murders, no matter what you heard." Dean said, getting off him.

"But the other hunters..."

"Attacked me first and I didn't kill. I hurt them." I confessed, sliding back into my body, " I'm not a bad person."

John looked at us, looking scared and puzzled, " You're foolin wit me right?" he asked. I noticed his silky dark skin. His jaw structure...beautiful. His body, which must have been bangin' under those clothes, " Are you checking me out?"

"A little." I chuckled, " Sorry, but I'm running out of time. I have to go in and kick some demon ass."

John looked at Dean, " You're not going in?" he asked.

"No. He's not." I said, " He's leaving, and so are you."

"Not until he does." Dean said quickly.

I turned to door and concentrated, " Open!" I shouted at the door and waves flew from my mouth and the doors parted! I stepped through and waved. As I walked away, the doors began closing and I heard thumping and turned to see Johnathan, " What the hell!" I asked.

"You son of a bitch!" came from behind the doors where Dean was pounding away.

I looked at Johnathan, who raised his gun at eye level, " You're still trying to kill me? I'm getting testy." I growled.

He shot the gun, but the bullet missed and it hit something! I looked behind me and saw a zombie laying behind me, " Nope. Saving your ass."

"You can't come." I said impatiently.

"I can't let you go alone." Johnathan said, " I'm a hunter, it's what I do."

"What am I?" I asked.

"A witch, who I thought was way over her head. Then over his head. Now...I'm rethinking everything." he said, looking around, " Not as purty as the upstairs."

I turned and looked around, " It's a slice of heaven." I nodded, " Look, don't die."

"I'll see what I can do." he chuckled.

We walked on, Johnathan made me nervous by just being there, but the gun pointed scared me. I didn't know whether to trust him or not, I mean he had just tried to kill me. I felt something ahead of us, through the darkness. The other part of the book.

"What is it?" Johnathan asked.

I turned to his, " What do you mean?" I asked.

"You stopped and it's like you see something." Johnathan asked, looking ahead into the darkness, " So, what is it?"

"Something pretty valuable." I whispered. There was a low growl, " It's not going to be easy."

"Has it ever been?" he asked.

"I like you already." I smirked. As we walked forward, we both stopped when the scene changed. The world around us transformed into a forrest.

"Lost, are they." A cat said. The cat hung from the tree and immediately reminded me of the cat from Alice in Wonderland.

"Please don't tell me there's some weird rabbit around here." Johnathan said, pointing his gun at the cat.

"Shhh!" I said, walking to the tree, " Yes, we are lost." I looked around, " We were walking through the cave, then..."

"What you seek is closer than you think." the cat smirked, " Keys jangle."

"Cryptic and creepy, just how I like my cats." I sighed.

Johnathan groaned, " Be a nice pussy and tell us how to get past this." he said.

I gave him a warning look, " You're not helping." I snapped, " Help." I said, turning back to the cat.

"A mere cat I am not, I know what you seek and I know how to reach it." The cat said lazily.

"How do we reach it?" I asked.

"The key is within you, power untold. And a man to help on your mission, isn't he so bold. You should turn back, young one, no one every prospers when the witch dies." the cat pawed the air, " If you're scared then you should be, damnation hide behind every tree."

"Now," Andrew said, stepping from behind one of the trees, " That's not nice Bakeneko, someone could get their feelings hurt."

I gasped. Andrew? Alive?

"Now, I am dead. A ghost. A churel." Andrew answered, looking into my eyes.

"Who's that?" Johnathan asked.

"My ex." I growled, " You're a ghost vampire?"

"Churel." Andrew smiled.

"Why're you here?" I asked.

Andrew took a step closer, " To warn you." he said looking around, " It's weird. They thought I should stay here for an eternity...that dying was too good for me. I was human before..." he looked at me, " The other half of the book is the darkest magic. No one's ever come back from it."

"There's always a first." I said.

Andrew shook his head, " No ONE!" he shouted.

"Wait, we're looking for an evil book?" Johnathan asked.

"We're trying to take it from the evil guys." I explained.

"But it will Corrupt you." Andrew said.

"I have to get to it first. It's our only chance." I said, " I could try and find a way to move you on."

Andrew shook his head, " I deserve to be here." he said.

I nodded, " Step aside." I said, walking past him.

"See you soon." He smirked.

I ignored him and walked on and suddenly the forrest disappeared and we were standing on a floating...thing. I don't know how to describe it. We were on a circular, floating piece of land. The book stood on a pedestal an dI rushed to it, but stopped, " John, don't move." I said, immediately sensing something wrong.

"Why?" Johnathan asked.

"Because he's a smart boy." Mom said, coming from the shadows and walking on air.

"WHo's that?" Johnathan asked.

"That's mommy." I groaned. I looked around, seeing the shadows move and noticed that they were getting closer, " The cat was right. The key's inside me."

"Yes, if you would have turned around, then I would never have been able to do this." Mom smiled.
