"OK, Jaiden, spill it! I can tell you are pissed about something." "Charley, you do have a way with words, and if anybody can tell when someone or something has ticked me off, it is you; how you do it, I don't know." "It's easy, bro; I can read you like a book - your eyes, the way you squinch your body, the way you hold your hands, and especially the way you don't speak first when I walk into a room."

"OK, you've got me; I'm guilty." "Yes, you are, so why're you po'd?" Edgepack. I can't stand dealing with someone who speaks to you like dirt and then gets angry with you when you call their hand at their attitude. Today was the last straw. Our practice in Erie will not recommend them, and we will not have anything to do with them. They have made me mad for the last time. The patient's insurance company is filing a grievance for the patient and will find another source of medical supplies for the family. And I especially don't like someone who thinks they are superior because their ass is black. Nobody is better than anybody else. I don't care who they are, where they come from, what their religion is, or what they sound like; if they get smart with me and talk down to me, I will determine to and will beat them at their own game. Nobody who wants my business will get it by being insolent and rude to me!

"Can your patient's family find another distributor to get their supplies? "Yes, plenty of companies want their business and will be nice to them." "Good; let me know how things turn out." "I will; don't worry."

"Jaiden, did you get your patient's med supply problem straightened out?" "Not yet, Peyton. I contacted the family's insurance carrier, and they did a three-way call. The company rep acted true to form. The insurance company is filing a grievance against the employee and company and will help the family find another supplier. We'll know Friday what will go down. I got mad at the company's rep and asked her what the hell she didn't understand, and she started yelling at me and telling me not to cuss her, that I would speak courteously to her." "Oh, hell, that was a mistake on her part!"

"You're damned straight it was, and that is when the insurance rep jumped back at her for the way she had talked to me and asked to speak to the lady's supervisor. The company rep then started back on me, and I told her to get her supervisor on the line and to shut up. She put us on hold, and nobody ever came back to the line. That's when the insurance company's rep asked for permission to file a grievance on my patient's behalf. Care to guess what I told her?" "No, I don't; I know what you told her." "And you know what, Peyton? They billed the patient for $624.00 and then had the gall to admit it was an overpayment and then refund the payment. They still owe the patient $596.00 for a previous over-payment several years back. The insurance company is a major national company. They will audit the patient's account starting from day one."

"That audit result should be interesting, Jaiden." "I think it will be, babe; it appears the medical company has been charging whatever they wanted as a co-pay instead of abiding by their contract with the insurance company. We shall see!"

"Are you going to tell the patient's parents what transpired?" "No, the insurance company rep will call them Friday to update the situation."

The children quietly got up and dressed independently and surprised their dads when they walked into the dining room for breakfast. "Good morning, guys; I love you."

"Nathan Robert was a little out of character for the morning. He reached up to Jaiden and asked, "Hold me, Daddy." Jaiden picked up his son and noticed he was a bit warm, and as he did, his phone rang.

"Dr. Jaiden, this is the Rabbi at the temple in Memphis. I hate to call you this morning before you head to the hospital. I know you have classes and surgery, but you need to know what I have to tell you before going to work." "Rabbi, I don't like the sound of your voice; whatever it is can't be good."

"That depends, Jaiden; have you ever had the measles?" "Oh, hell, don't tell me." "OK, I won't tell you that three children from the nursery at the synagogue have the measles this morning." "Rabbi, you better make that four and possibly 13. Nathan Robert isn't feeling well and is running a fever. We should know about the rest of the children by this evening; I'll call and let you know tonight."

"Jaiden, you're white as a sheet; what's up?" "Measles, Dale. Have you guys had the measles?"

"Charley and I have; what about you, Peyton?

"Mom, this is your brilliant eldest son, the doctor." "You mean my second eldest son; Richard is six months older than you." "OK, I'll concede that. Have I had the measles?"

"Yes, son, you have, but I don't know about Richard, and you definitely need to stay away from Sally, Seth, and him. By the way, why are you asking me that?"

"Three children from the synagogue nursery woke up this morning with the measles. The Rabbi just called Jaiden to let us know."

"You're a pediatrician, so you should know what to do for the itching. It'll be a task to keep the children from scratching and causing scars. You were bad enough, but with ten children, you dads are going to have your hands full."

"That's what I'm afraid of, Mom; Nathan Robert is the first child to show measles signs. I'll call you tonight and let you know if the other children are showing symptoms."

"Please do. I'll come up and help while Ginny and Granny are off in the evenings because you guys are going to have some long nights." "Thanks, Mom; talk to you tonight."

"Hi, mom; this is the most handsome osteopath in Tennessee." "How are you, son?" "I'm not sure, mom; I've been scratching my butt all morning trying to remember if I have had the measles or not." "You have, Jaiden; why?" "Four children from the temple nursery have the measles, and one of those four is Nathan Robert. So we have nine more children to check tonight, if not earlier. I have a surgery this morning, so I need to call the hospital and make sure the parents know about the situation before going to the OR. We have classes today, so I won't be around patients, and that will give me time to let the administration know what is going on."

"Jaiden, since you have had the measles, you won't be a carrier, and there shouldn't be a problem, but it is good to let everyone know." "Thanks, Mom; I love you!" "I love you too, son."

"Dr. Mom walked into her office, walked up front, and handed Becky a note that read, "three weeks ago, the chickenpox. This week: Measles."

Becky read the note to Carol, Angie, and Laurie, who you could have heard screaming and laughing a block away.

"Ladies, that is what I did after talking to Jaiden. He was scared to death that he hadn't had the measles. However, he has, so he shouldn't be dangerous to any patients at the hospital as long as he bathes and puts on scrubs at the hospital. I have a feeling we are going to have a hilarious two weeks coming up!"

Jaiden called the hospital's Chief of staff and advised of the newest malady at his home. After five minutes, the director finally stopped laughing and told Jaiden that as long as he and Peyton had the measles as a child, everything should be OK, just to bathe in the doctor's locker room, put on new scrubs, wear gloves, and cover their stethoscopes with a glove while they are with patients. Jaiden assured the Chief they would do that.

"Peyton, we have to bathe in the doctor's locker room, wear new scrubs, and new gloves with every patient, and cover our stethoscopes with a glove while examining them."

"Jaiden, that isn't a bad thing to do every day; fewer germs spread that way; man, I wish I had thought of the stethoscope thing before; that is the easiest way to spread germs between patients." "I agree; I'll let Richard know what is going on and tell him about the glove idea."

Thankfully, when Jaiden got to the doctor's locker room, Richard was there. "Good morning Peyton, Jaiden, what's up?" "Well, brother, since we are naked and about to shower, you can see nothing is up!"

"Yea, I've had that problem lately; I take baby duty at night, so Sally can rest. I used to wake up every morning saluting the flag; now, I watch myself tie my shoes." "It'll get better, Richard, don't worry." "Damn, I hope so; I hate sneaking into another room to use a vibrator and hearing Sally yell for me to cut it off because it messes up the television screen."

Jaiden and Peyton were about to roll on the floor laughing at what Richard told them.

"By the way, what's up at your house?" "Richard, my brother!" "Yes, Peyton, bro?" "Measles, Richard, so call Sally and tell her to stay away; far far away with Seth."

"Uh, Peyton, Sally hasn't had the measles either." "Did you go to the temple Saturday?"

"No, we were both exhausted, so we stayed home." Good, three children there gave them to Nathan Robert. We're waiting to see if and when the other children will show signs of being sick."

No sooner had Peyton said that than Jaiden's phone rang. "Jaiden, this is Ginny. I'm gonna whip your and Peyton's butt when y'all get home." "What's wrong, Ginny?" "All ten children have measles. Nathan Robert and Charles Logan have already told Granny and me that their butts hurt and asked us to kiss their butts and make them feel better."

"Ginny, I'm sorry, but it is hilarious that they would ask y'all to do that. What did you tell them? "We said, honey, we're sorry we can't do that; your daddies will kiss your butts when they get home." "Ginny, surely you and Granny didn't tell them that." "Sure we did, Jaiden; your children are in misery."

"Ginny, don't you and Granny have a key to the medicine cabinet?" "We do." "Please give each child a pediatric dose of Benedryl; that should help with the itching until I can break away from the hospital and get home, at least one of us anyway." "OK, Jaiden, I'll do that."

"Don't worry about the children; they'll be OK. I just wanted to let you know they are all down with measles." "Thanks, Ginny, and thank Granny, too, and tell her we love y'all." "That's a two-way street, baby; see y'all when you get home."

"Dr. Peyton, contact Dr. Jaiden; Dr. Peyton, contact Dr. Jaiden."

"You called, Jaiden?" "I did; prepare for a long night tonight." "Why?" "Ten cases of measles." "Oh no, I didn't want to hear that!" "Neither did I, but Ginny just called to let me know."

"Did you let Richard know?" "No, I thought I'd let you tell him; he's your brother, and he'll be our pediatrician at least until we get home to Erie." "OK, let me give him a call."

"Richard, this is Peyton; I thought I'd let you know all ten children have measles. Ginny called a few minutes ago to let us know."

"OK, if you have a problem, call me, and I'll help. You and Jaiden are great pediatricians, but I can handle anything y'all aren't comfortable with." "Thanks, Richard." "You bet, bro."

"Jaiden, did you hear about the argument between two parents at the hospital today?" "Hear about it? I was part of it!" "How so?"

"I saw a patient on the floor and heard his parents going at it. I walked up to them and told them to knock it off, and the next thing I knew, the wife was all but physically attacking me. Security came running up, and the police were right behind them. They were charged with Disorderly Conduct and taken to the Sheriff's office to be booked on the charge. When the deputy put the handcuffs on them, they appeared to have gotten a clear message very quickly because they became apologetic."

"I'm sure; there is something about cold stainless steel bracelets having a calming effect on people." "They certainly did today, and the look on their faces as they were presented with their jewelry was priceless."

"How's Justin Garrard doing?" "Babe, I talked with Rodney and Sarah today. He is having severe headaches from the concussion, but other than that, they say he is doing well and should go home on schedule next week. They said Norman handed the attacker his butt on a silver platter when he went to court; twelve months probation, community service picking up trash on the side of the road every Saturday, and he has to work as a volunteer with rehabilitation services every Sunday at the hospital."

"The funniest thing Norman did was make the boy go to group counseling with some gay boys so he can better understand their side of the coin regarding being bullied. The first evening he went to the group counseling, he saw four of his friends staring him down as he left the group room. I bet he will catch it from them at school every day." "If he does, Jaiden, we can call it poetic justice."

"What about Becca; how is she doing?" "Beautifully. She's responding to treatment, and the tumor is shrinking. So we're hoping it will go away and not have to be excised." "Good."

"Ginny, were the children good today, all things considered?" "Peyton, after we gave them the Benedryl as Jaiden told us to do, they settled down and stopped whining about the itching. They laid down for their afternoon nap, and we didn't hear a peep out of them for two hours." "Did you and Granny get some rest while the children were asleep?"

"Now, Peyton, you know when the children fell asleep, Granny and I put our feet up, watched our shows, and relaxed." "Good, that's what the four of us want you to do, and if you happen to have taken a nap, that's OK." "Good, because we did that too."

"Ginny, have you, Granny, and your husbands discussed the move back to Erie next weekend?" "Not really, Jaiden. We were wondering what you boys had in mind." "I have a car carrier picking up our cars to take them back to Erie, and Charlie and Dale will be riding in the van with Peyton and me and the children."

"They graduate Friday week from Wellstone and the following Saturday from Penn State. Movers will move the furniture Thursday, and we'll drive to Brevard and stay with Leon and Peter. Then, after the graduation ceremonies, we'll start a slow vacation drive to Erie."

Our plans are to look for things the children can enjoy along the way to break the trip into segments so none of us will get too tired. But, of course, the other side of that is that the children will tire themselves out and sleep more so than getting upset because they are tired."

"That's a good idea, Jaiden. We may take one car to Erie and do the same thing; see some sites, and enjoy the scenery. Then, we can all get to Erie at about the same time."

"Getting to Erie at the same time will be a good thing, Ginny; we have a surprise for you, Gampy, Granny, and The Reverend." "What kind of surprise, Jaiden?"

"If I told you, it wouldn't be a surprise, would it? We think you will like it; if you don't, we're in trouble."

"Son, what do you mean?" "You'll find out when we all get to Erie."

"Geraldine, I have a feeling we're gonna have to whip those boys when we get back to Erie; they are up to something and won't say what it is." "Martha, you know them well enough to know that whatever they are up to is honorable; I don't think they would ever do anything that wasn't."

"Me either; I just hope they didn't go overboard with whatever they have done." "Now you know they always go overboard with whatever they do, but it's always out of love." "True."

"Peyton, I talked to Ezra, and he said we'd take our car to Erie and that the Reverend and Geraldine could ride with us. So, please tell Jaiden that when the car carrier comes for the cars, to load Geraldine's and Taylor's for the trip to Erie." "OK, Ginny, I'll let him know. He has something planned for y'all on the trip home, but he hasn't told me what it is."

"Peyton, I'm going to wind up tanning that young man's hide. He doesn't need to do all the things he has done for us." "That may be true, Ginny, but when Jaiden loves somebody, they'll have the best as long as he can provide it, and he has been repaid two-fold every time he has done something good for someone."

"It's not that we don't appreciate what Jaiden has done for us; we do; however, he works hard for his money. So, he needs to put some away and enjoy doing something for himself and his family."

"Ginny, believe me when I say Jaiden puts money aside to invest and save. We have more than we need already, so I don't say anything when he wants to do something nice for someone, no matter the cost of his gifts."

"Peyton, you can't have a lot saved up as young as you, Jaiden, Dale, and Charley are."

"Ginny, we really do. When you get to five million dollars in investments, we have more than that in stocks and other investments. Jaiden set up a fund for Dale and Charley when things started going well for all of us. They have over two and a half million dollars in investments that Dale's dad manages - for all of us."

"Peyton, hush your mouth!" "OK, Ginny, but the truth is the truth, so let us enjoy providing for you and Gampy and Granny and The Reverend." "If you say so, Peyton."

"Granny was asking about the trip to Erie, Jaiden, and said they would like to ship Granny's and the Reverend's car with ours and drive their car on the trip back home."

"Good; did you say anything to her about the vacation planned for them so we would all get home at about the same time?" "I didn't because you haven't told me to say anything yet. Besides, I don't know what's on the itinerary for the vacation."

"I have enough things booked to keep them busy for at least four days in Louisville since it is halfway between Memphis and Erie, and two days in Columbus, Ohio, halfway between Louisville and Erie." "What about food?"

In Louisville, the itinerary will include: Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour; a Temptations Concert; a Half-Day Thoroughbred Horse Farm Tour; The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum (old Mansion); Fourth Street Live!; and Kroger's Fest-a-Ville entry is a 2022 Pegasus Pin! That will be two full days of activities and a night's fun at Fourth Street Live. The place is beautiful with festive lights galore. I'm going to load a prepaid card from the bank for them to buy whatever food they want to eat from the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night."

"When they get to Columbus, Ohio, I made reservations for two days of activities that will include: the Cultural Arts Center; Eddie Merlot's for dinner on the first night; Polaris Parkway and Lyra Drive for dinner on the second night; Z Cucina di Spirito for lunch on the first day; Mitchell's Ocean Club – lunch – 2nd day. In addition, they have a late afternoon reservation at Schmidt's Sausage Haus and Restaurant on the second day since Granny loves German food."

"They all should love breakfast in Columbus because it will be at Scotty's Café on day one and at Stav's Diner, an old-fashioned New York-style diner, on day two. Both of the eateries are reported to have a fantastic breakfast menu that people rave over."

"Jaiden, did you book them a place to stay in the two cities?" "Not yet; look at what's available in Louisville and Columbus. But, I'm afraid they won't want to stay in Columbus since it is only thirty miles to Erie."

"Ew, that may be a problem!" "What if we call Granny's son and get his family to meet them in Columbus and keep them there?"

"Good idea, Jaiden, if he can do that – or get some of their friends to meet them there." "That might be even better, Peyton. They haven't seen their friends in two years, so that could be an incredible reunion. Would you mind calling Buddy and Mykela and seeing what they think?" "I'll do that tonight."

The guys got home from work, played with their children for an hour, and fed them their dinner. After dinner, they took the children outside to play. Instead of sitting on the deck and watching their babies as they usually do, they played in the yard with their children.

Peyton took the time to call Richard and Mykela and run the vacation plans in Columbus by them. Richard said he, Mykela, and their children were beginning the first week of summer break that week and would love to surprise his parents in Columbus.

Peyton asked him to make hotel reservations at a nice, up-scale place and let him know what the cost was, that he and Jaiden would cover the cost for everyone. When Richard told Mykela and the boys, they were excited. They all decided not to say anything to Richard's parents and surprise them at the hotel after his parents had checked in.

"Peyton, this is Buddy; I made the reservations you asked me to make at the hotel. We'll be at the Hilton Columbus at Easton; it looked like a place Mom and Dad would enjoy and that Mr. and Mrs. Stuart would enjoy too."

"That's great, Buddy; We'll get the Stuarts and your parents a pre-loaded gift card and put the money on the card to pay for the rooms. "Is $600 per day enough to pay for their rooms and yours too?" "With state and local taxes, Peyton, that should be the right amount for each of the two days for all of us."

"Great, Richard. We'll also add some funds to pay for your family's food." "Peyton, paying for our room is already too much after all you, Jaiden, and your brothers are doing for my parents and the Stuarts." "Richard, they have more than earned anything we can do for them. If you don't believe that, we'll let you and Mykela keep Nathan Robert and Charles Logan a couple of days."

"That might be fun, Peyton, after what mom has said about those two. She thinks they are a hoot and thoroughly enjoys watching them plot things together. She says those two boys are almost identical to the way my brother and I were."

"No wonder your mom makes us feel like she thinks those boys can do no wrong!"

"Peyton, I guarantee you Mom believes that. She says all the children in your house are the best she has ever known and worked with – and she says they are incredibly smart."

"They are smart, Richard, but being the best children she has ever known and worked with...I don't know about that; those boys can get on your nerves quickly when they are in a pranking mood. Don't ever leave your keys lying around when you visit; you might not get them back." "Yeah, mom has already warned me about that; that's why she has two sets: one in her purse and one at home."

"Well, I've got to run and get the boys bathed and ready for bed. We'll see and talk to you once we get to Erie." "Have a good trip and be safe, Peyton." "You too, Richard, and enjoy the time with your parents and family."

"Everything is all set for the trip to Erie, Jaiden. Richard took care of keeping his parents and Ginny and Gampy in Columbus for a few days. I told him we'd give his parents a pre-loaded card to pay for everything and made sure it covered the hotel in Columbus and food for Richard's family."

"Awesome, Babe; we need to get the itinerary typed up and the prepaid credit card for Ginny, Gampy, Granny, and the Reverend. I think it will be better to obtain each couple a card so they can be more independent."

"Good idea, Peyton; I didn't think of that."

Jaiden, Peyton, and Charley were sitting in the den when Dale walked in with a platter of hot peach knishes and a pot of coffee. "Dale, those knishes smell heavenly." "I hope they taste that way, Peyton. By the way, I found a new coffee that I thought was delicious, so I am trying that out on y'all tonight." "What brand is it, Dale. "Jaiden, it is Laughing Man brand coffee, specifically Hugh's blend. A guy at work had some, and I made the mistake of tasting it; it was incredible as coffee goes. I put a shot of vanilla, some Splenda, and some cream in it. I hope you like it."

Jaiden took a sip of the coffee, leaned his head back, and said, "Dale, I thought the coffee you made before was good. This coffee is better than the Kona to me, and I bet it is cheaper."

"Try about $20 per bag cheaper, Jaiden." "You've got to be kidding. To find a new coffee this good and that much cheaper; we have a new favorite coffee." "That's what I said, Jaiden."

The following morning, Jaiden asked Dale if he and Charley had slept well during the night, and Dale said they did and asked Jaiden the reason for his question. "Dale, sometimes when I drink coffee later in the evening, I don't sleep quite as well, but last night the coffee we drank didn't bother my sleep at all, so tonight, I am going to drink a cup and see how it affects me when I go to bed."

When Peyton and Jaiden got ready to go to work, Dale handed him a gallon-sized thermos and said, "enjoy this at work today; I prepared it the way you like it." When Jaiden asked Dale if it was the new coffee and Dale said it was, Jaiden gave him the Riley kiss on the forehead and said, "Bro, I love you to Mars and back." "Ditto, Jaiden."

The first thing Jaiden did when he got to the hospital was pour himself and Peyton a cup of coffee. One of the nurses asked if what Jaiden was drinking was spiked. He asked the reason for the nurse's question, and she said she asked it because he had been smiling from ear to ear since his first sip of whatever was in the cup.

"Do you like coffee?" "Yes, sir, I love coffee, especially first thing in the morning." Jaiden poured her a cup and said, "Taste this."

When the nurse tasted the coffee, she leaned her head back, rolled her eyes, and moaned like she was having the orgasm of all orgasms.

Jaiden said, "so I take it you like the coffee!" "Dr. Jaiden, this stuff is incredible; what kind of coffee is it?" "It's a coffee Dale tried yesterday and bought on the way home; it's called Laughing Man's Hugh's blend.

The nurse commented that the coffee was better than sex. Jaiden smiled as he thought, "it is good coffee, but damned if I will go that far."

Jaiden walked into Becca's room and found her feeling exceptionally well. But, since she had been so sick the week before, he wanted her to get out of bed and try to walk for a few minutes. So he got Becca up and walked up and down the corridor with her and her mother.

"Becca, Friday is my last day in Memphis, so I won't be seeing you anymore after today. Instead, I'll be wrapping up cases and making sure my notes are up-to-date so the new doctors can take over with as few problems as possible."

"But, Dr. J, if you are leaving Friday, why can't I see you again after today?" "Becca, I could give you a long explanation, but I won't; you can't see me after today because as soon as we get back to your room, you have to get dressed, ring the bell, and go home. Your cancer is in remission, so you don't need to stay here anymore."

"Your mom has Dr. Peyton's and my cell phone numbers, so you can call us in the evenings once in a while to let us know how you are doing. Your mom and dad also said y'all might come to Erie to see us when Justin gets well. You can see Erie, go to the beach at Lake Erie, and we'll take you to the best seafood buffet on the east coast. You can even stay at Dr. Peyton's and my house and play with our children."

How many children do you have, Dr. Peyton?"

"In all, we have ten four-year-olds in the house – at least they will be four on June sixth. Dr. Peyton and I have five boys, and our brothers, Charley and Dale, have four boys and a little girl."

"I can't wait `till we can go to Erie to see y'all." "We're gonna be very happy to see you, too, Becca – especially how well you are and how good you look the more you get well."

"DR. Peyton, CODE RED the switchboard; Dr. Peyton, CODE RED the switchboard!"

"This is Dr. Peyton!" "Dr. Peyton, Dr. Richard is on the way to the general hospital; his wife is being taken there by ambulance. Dr. Richard asked that you meet him there as soon as possible."

"Please let the Chief know where I'm going. I'll call him as soon as I know what is happening."

"Jaiden, this is Peyton; meet me at the car as fast as you can get there. Something is wrong with Sally, and she is being rushed by ambulance to the emergency room at Memphis General. Peyton, I'll pick you up at the emergency entrance; I took off for the car as soon as I heard the Code Red."

"Thanks, babe; I don't have a clue what is going on. All I know is that Richard is in the emergency room, Sally is in surgery, and he is in a full-blown panic. Please don't have a wreck on the way. Granny is with Seth at Richard and Sally's, so he is being taken care of; just go!"

Jaiden pulled into the hospital emergency lot and parked in the doctor's parking. Peyton took off in a dead heat for the emergency room with all his medical garb on, so when he got inside, the nurses knew him and escorted him to where Richard was. Jaiden walked into the waiting room a few seconds after Peyton and caught the gist of what was happening.

The obstetrician walked into the room and told Richard they were about to get started and to suit up. He looked at Peyton and told him to scrub up that he would help with the surgery about to happen.

Richard looked at the obstetrician and asked, "Surgery?" "Yes, Richard, surgery. When Sally had Seth two weeks ago in Orange Beach, the surgeon noted Sally had a vanishing pregnancy. Long story short, he was wrong. Seth was ready to come into this world, and his twin wasn't. Seth is about to be a big brother by two weeks."

Oh my Lord, Hashem, please take care of my Sally, I beg you, PLEASE! Jaiden, call mom and let her know what is going on...and call Sally's mom and dad, too, please." "Richard, GO; I'll take care of everything on this end – G-o H-E-L-P Y-O-U-R W-I-F-E...now, go!"

Jaiden was crying when he called his mother-in-law. "Mom, this is Jaiden...give me a second...Sally was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and she is in surgery. Granny is at their apartment keeping Seth, and Peyton is helping with Sally's surgery. Richard went back to the OR and asked me to call you."

"Jaiden, for heaven's sake, what's going on?" "Mom, the doctor in Orange Beach told Sally she had a vanishing pregnancy when Seth was born. That wasn't the case; Seth just came early. Sally is giving birth to his twin as we speak." "Jaiden, tell Richard and Peyton I am on my way. Let me get to Jim, and we'll leave right now."

"Dr. Riley, Dr. Riley: we have an emergency in Memphis, and we need to leave right now." One of the associate vets took over caring for the animal Jim was seeing, and he ran to the front office.

"Phyllis, what the hell is going on, and what's the emergency?" "Sally was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, and she is in surgery. Granny is keeping Seth at their apartment, Peyton is assisting with Sally's surgery, and Richard is in the OR with Sally. The doctor here was so wrong it isn't funny! Sally didn't have a disappearing pregnancy; Seth just came early, and Sally is birthing his twin right now."

"This is Dr. Riley; may I please have everyone's attention! Unfortunately, I have to leave the office and immediately fly to Memphis. My daughter-in-law, Sally, is in emergency surgery. I will be back a week from Friday; thank you for your understanding and for covering at the clinic. I will call tomorrow and fill everyone in on what is happening."

"Phyllis, let's go!" "Jim, we need to stop by the house and get some clothes." "Screw that; we'll buy new clothes in Memphis. We just need casual stuff, so getting that won't be too bad." "Jim." "Yes, Phyllis?" "I love you to Mars and back." "I know, sweetheart; we need to go."

"Mrs. Isenberg, this is Jaiden. Richard asked me to call you and let you know Sally is in emergency surgery." "Oh my god, what happened?"

"When she delivered Seth in Orange Beach two weeks ago, the doctor told her and Richard she had a vanishing pregnancy, and Seth was the only baby. But, unfortunately, that was not the case; Sally is birthing Seth's twin as we speak."

"Jaiden, let me get Sam inside, and we'll leave shortly. Is it OK if we stay at your house if we need to?"

"Mom, you know it is. Sam has a house key and knows the security system, so help yourself. Let me know when you get here, and I'll pick you up at the airport. Mom and Dad are also flying in, so you'll have some good company."

"Oh, good! I'm as nervous as a cat right now!" "If that's the case, you'll definitely be in good company when you get here."

"Seth, this is Jaiden; I don't want you to be alarmed, but Sally is in emergency surgery. The doctors thought Sally had a disappearing pregnancy when Seth was born, but they were wrong. Seth is pigheaded like you can be and must have decided he wanted to be born first. Sally is giving birth to his twin right now. I'll call you as soon as I know something, OK?"

"Jaiden, do Mom and Dad know." "They do; they are on the way to Memphis and should be here in a couple of hours."

"Dr. Jaiden, Drs. Peyton and Richard would like to see you in labor and delivery."

Jaiden went to labor and delivery and met Peyton in the operating room. "Where's the doctor who delivered the baby, Peyton?" "You're looking at him. It was a reasonably clean, uncomplicated delivery of a beautiful little boy. I'll let Richard tell you about him. He and the baby just walked to the neo-natal nursery with the attending nurse. I gave orders for the baby to be in the NICU overnight just as a precaution, given the scope of things. Let's go see my brother and my new nephew!"

"Hey, Richard, how's the baby doing?" "He's fine. His APGAR is at the top of the chart, temp is good, looks good, and came out starving – just as Seth did!"

"Sally is being wheeled to room 408, so they should let you take the baby up shortly. I'll check on her before we go home and make sure everything is OK. If something happens tonight, call me, and we'll be right over."

"OK, thank you, Peyton; I love you so much!" "I love you, too, my dear brother. By the way, Mom and Dad are on the way, and Sally's Mom and Dad are also on the way. Their flights should land in about an hour. I'm sure Sally's mom will be staying with Sally as she did when Seth was born, and Mom will trade off time with her so she can get some needed rest."

Richard asked what Sam was going to do, and Jaiden said Dale would feed him knishes and coffee on the deck to keep his mind off things and keep him calm. Richard acknowledged that was a good idea. "But, if you don't mind if he wants to come to the hospital, would you bring him up for a little while?" "Sure, Richard; no problem."

Peyton and Jaiden had gotten to the house no sooner than Jaiden's phone rang. "Jaiden, this is Phyllis. Jim and I are at the airport, and we just spied Adelle and Sam coming down the escalator; would you or Peyton mind fetching us from the airport –if Peyton is free?"

"We are on the way, Mom. We'll be in the Navigator, so everybody will have room." "Thanks, Jaiden; see you shortly."

"Hi, Mom, Dad, did you have a good flight?" "We did. How are Sally and Richard?" "They are fine. The baby is in NICU overnight on the attending physician's orders as a precaution given the circumstances of his birth."

Adelle asked how all this happened with Seth's twin. "Adelle, all we can say is that it is very rare, but it happens. The good thing is that mom and baby are doing well, and Richard is stressed to the max."

"I can understand, Peyton. But, with ending his internship, moving back to Erie in a week, and the baby's birth tonight, that is a lot on his plate." "Agreed, it is a lot on all our plates."

"How about Peyton and I take y'all to the hospital for a few minutes to let you check on Sally and see the baby. Then we'll take you to Richard's and Sally's apartment and take Mom and Dad to our house."

Sally's mother said she hoped the doctor would let her and Sam see Sally and the baby when they got to the hospital. The Riley's echoed that sentiment. Peyton said he didn't think the doctor would mind, that he is an excellent physician.

Phyllis asked, "Peyton, who was the doctor who delivered the baby?" Peyton smiled and said, "ME!" "You delivered the baby, Peyton?"

"I did because the baby came fast before the Obgyn could get to the OR. I happen to be the only doctor to ever deliver his nephew in the hospital."

When they got to the hospital, Sally was feeding the baby and resting comfortably. Since she is breastfeeding Seth and the new twin, Peyton asked if she had a breast pump. She didn't, so Jaiden ran to Walmart and purchased one, took it home and sterilized it, and took it back to Sally so she could express some milk for Seth.

When the milk was collected for Seth, he took Sam and Adelle to Sally's and Richard's apartment, so Seth could be fed his mother's milk. Then, mom and Dad Riley went to Peyton's and Jaiden's home and settled in – forgetting that her grandchildren have the measles. It should be OK since everyone else has had the measles. Mom Riley would take fresh clothes to Richard's in a plastic bag and bathe there before holding and helping Seth or his new little brother.

"May I have your attention on the floors. The hospital just received a call from Dr. Peyton. His brother, Dr.Richard, and Dr. Richard's wife, Sally, miraculously just had another little boy – a twin to their son born just short of two weeks ago."

The following morning, Peyton went to the hospital, checked Sally and made sure she was OK and recovering well, examined the new baby, and signed the paperwork to be released to go home. Richard still had the baby seat in his Lincoln, so there was no problem with him getting Sally and the baby home.

An hour after they got to the hospital, Peyton and Jaiden were amazed to see Richard walking down the hall with a chart in hand. "Richard, what are you doing here?"

"Like I said before, Jaiden, my mother-in-law is at the house. Everybody laughed at Richard's comment, and then he added, "I need to tie up loose ends so we can head to Erie on Friday."

"Uh, about that, Richard, your car will be loaded onto a car carrier with ours on Thursday to be taken to Erie. We are going to Leon's and Peter's Friday morning. Dale and Charley are graduating from Wellstone Friday night, and we will leave for the drive home on Monday. So we thought we'd get you two, Mom and Dad, and the Isenbergs a flight from Memphis to Erie and have a vehicle waiting for each of you so you'll have a way around until our vehicles arrive home. We didn't want Sally to get too tired on such a long drive, and we didn't want Dad and Sam to drive you nuts on the way home."

"Peyton, Jaiden, thank you so much for doing that. I really didn't want to make that long trip in the car, and I didn't think about having it carried to Erie." "We did, so we did. The vehicles will be at our house, and your furniture should be delivered sometime Tuesday. We have reservations for everyone at the Hilton on the Bay until the furniture arrives and is placed appropriately. There will be no work for the weary, so get some rest when y'all get to Erie."

"Mom, Ginny and Gampy's and Granny's and the Reverend's new homes are ready, and furniture was put in both by Granny's son and his wife. The only thing they will need to do is put in their bedroom suite if they want. All the rooms are furnished, and new linens are already in place. So we are giving Granny, the Reverend, Ginny, and Gampy, a week's vacation, to take on the ride home to keep them busy until the day after we get home. Then, we can all take them to their new homes and get to see their reactions."

"Richard and Sally have no idea they have a new home, so you, Dad, and Sally's parents can take Richard and Sally to their new home when y'all get to Erie. The babies are small enough to share a bed until we can get one for the new baby."

Peyton asked if they had named their newest son, and Richard said they had and would tell everyone that evening. Mom and Dad will be at the apartment with Sally's parents. We'll do a speakerphone call to you and Peyton and tell everyone the baby's name." "What about big Seth?" "Mom is going to have him on her speakerphone, so he learns the baby's name at the same time as everyone else."

After dinner, Richard called Peyton and Jaiden, and his mom called Seth at school and had him on the speakerphone.

"OK, everybody, are you ready to hear the baby's name?" Everybody shouted, "WE ARE!"

"OK, the new baby was named in honor of two of the most remarkable men Sally and I know, and his name is...Peyton Robert Riley."

"Richard, are you serious?" "We are, Peyton. You delivered Rob, and Jaiden helped in the wings, so we wanted to name him after my other brother and the uncle we are sure will spoil our sons rotten."

"Richard, Sally, thank you; what an honor to have our nephew named after us!" Peyton and Jaiden couldn't say anything else because of the tears flooding from their eyes. Happy? Blissfully! Proud? Incredibly. Emotional? Beyond belief!
