"Peyton, this is Papa. Your Dad called me and told me what Nathan did, and he wanted me to needle you about it, but I won't. I want to apologize to you for the joking that occurred because of that mishap. I might rib you or your Dad about some things, but I realize there is a personal side to you that shouldn't be crossed, so I won't. I'm very sorry others chose to step over that line and upset you over something intensely private. Your privacy should have been respected."

"The same thing happened to me, and it was embarrassing; it happened to your Dad, and he was embarrassed. I don't know of a Dad anywhere who hasn't had the same thing happen to them. Even so, it is a private matter. Son, I wanted you to know how I feel about the indiscretion of those who have been ribbing you. Most of all, I wanted to tell you I love you, Jaiden, and your boys to Mars and back." Peyton was sobbing, listening to his grandfather's words. Papa is the only person who understands the embarrassment he has been feeling over the incident.

When Peyton calmed down, he said, "Papa, thank you. I have been so upset and embarrassed over what happened, and you are the only person who has understood that."

"Son, you didn't do anything wrong. All dads bathe their children in the showers to save time or because they don't feel like bending over a bathtub. More often than not, their wives hand their children to them when they are in the shower. You will learn a lot of things about raising children as time passes. Each experience will help you to be a better, more loving parent, so embrace and learn from your experiences and don't change anything that will take away from your experiences with your boys." "I understand, Papa. Thank you! "

"Peyton, you're welcome. If the subject comes up again, tell whoever brings it up that it's a private matter you don't want to discuss. If that upsets the person, tough; it's your call, not theirs. Just know your Granny, and I love you, and we don't like to see you upset. We'll talk to you later, son." "Thanks, Papa." "You bet, buddy!"

Jaiden walked into the den and immediately asked Peyton if he had been crying. Peyton told Jaiden that his Papa had called and what he had to say was so loving, so respectful of his feelings that he was able to let out a lot of frustration. "Peyton, talk to me."

"Jaiden, I felt so bad, and I was so embarrassed about what happened in the shower with Nathan, and the ribbing I was getting from people really upset me. I wish everybody had let it be a private matter for me to handle."

"Dad called Papa and told him. It apparently made Papa mad because he called and told me he was sorry people didn't respect my feelings and realize that what happened was intensely private. He apologized for my being upset and said they shouldn't have done that."

"Jaiden, that is a side of Papa I haven't seen before, and to know he feels that way makes me respect him more than ever."

"Peyton, I didn't know you felt so badly about what happened. I am so sorry I upset you by telling Mom. I would never purposely do anything that would upset or hurt you, and to know I did..."

Jaiden was beyond upset that he had again done something that upset and hurt Peyton. He walked onto the deck, sat down, and cried his heart out. He kept asking himself how he didn't know and didn't recognize how bothered Payton was by the shower incident.

Peyton gave Jaiden a few minutes to get his feelings out before he went to Jaiden on the deck. "Jaiden, please stop crying; I should have told you how upset and embarrassed I was by what happened. Please don't punish yourself this way; I can't stand to see you this way. PLEASE!" Jaiden cried that much harder. Peyton threw his hands up and looked upward, wondering what he could do to help Jaiden. It took nearly a year for Peyton to get Jaiden over his hurt from the incident at his Mom's house. Even now, Jaiden still has tears in his eyes every time they ride by the hotel on the bay.

Jaiden couldn't bring himself to look at Peyton. When Peyton tried to help Jaiden calm down, he turned away from Peyton. He has never done that before. Peyton mentioned calling Jaidens Mom and got extremely upset when Jaiden said, "call her; I don't care." Usually, Jaiden would be quick to say, "No, don't call Mom." To say call her that he didn't care meant that he was upset way beyond the norm.

Dale and Charley prepared dinner and got all the children fed, pottied, and dressed for bed before Dale went outside and told Jaiden dinner was ready. Jaiden didn't say a word, so Dale again told him dinner was ready. Jaiden turned and looked away from Dale and didn't say a word. Dale went to Charley and told him something was wrong with Jaiden, that he wouldn't speak to him and that he wouldn't come inside for dinner.

Charley walked out to Jaiden and said, "You either get your ass up and come inside to eat, or I'm going to drag you inside. Those are your two choices; PICK ONE!" Jaiden got up and walked to the dining room, sat down, and fixed himself a plate of food. Before he took a bite of the food, he looked at Charley and Dale and said, "I had no idea how upset and embarrassed Peyton was about the incident with Nathan, and I had no idea how badly the ribbing had embarrassed and hurt him, so don't either of you say another word about that incident in front of Peyton or to anyone outside of this house. This is the second time I did something that hurt him enough to make him cry. There will not be a third time, understood?" "Yes, Jaiden. We didn't know either, and we are so sorry." "Neither did I until his Papa called and apologized to him, and I found Peyton crying. I don't know how to handle this, and it is eating me alive inside."

Dale said, "Jaiden, I have an idea. Finish your dinner, and then I will talk with you about it."

When Jaiden had eaten his dinner, Dale told Jaiden to give him his car keys. "Charley, come with me a minute." Dale and Charley went to their room, and Dale closed the door and said, "Charley, we will get Peyton and Jaiden in the back seat of their car, and I am going to take them to the overlook. We'll put the children in the van, and you can follow me. Once we get to the overlook, I will give Jaiden his keys, get in the van with you, and we'll head home. We can take care of the children, get them bathed, and get them to bed when it's time. Either way, those two are going to spend some quiet time together so they can talk." "Dale, I love you. That is one of the sweetest things you could have come up with to help Jaiden and Peyton. When we get home, I will call Peyton's parents and tell them what this banter has done to Peyton so his Dad will lay off with his ribbing."

"Charley, that is something I love about you; when it comes down to the brass tacks of a situation, you have the balls to do what has to be done, and you don't back down." "Sweetheart, I guess I get that from Dad. Mom can be pretty stubborn too."

Since the car seats were already in the van, Charley and Dale started putting the babies in their seats. When all the children were buckled into the van, Dale gave Charley the keys, went inside, and told Jaiden and Peyton to come with him. Peyton asked where they were going, and Dale told him he didn't need to know right now, that he would understand when they got to where they were going.

When they got to the overlook, Dale got out of the Lincoln, opened the back door, and gave Jaiden the keys. He looked at Jaiden and Peyton and said, "Don't either of you even think of getting out of the back seat of this car for at least two hours. You had better sit here, talk things out, and make out for at least an hour after you settle your feelings. Am I clear on that?"

Jaiden stepped out of the car, told Dale, "yes," and then hugged him, kissed him on the forehead, and said, "Thank you. We are so blessed to have you in our lives to care about and help us. It means more to us than you will ever realize."

Jaiden climbed back into the Lincoln, locked the doors, and pulled Peyton onto his lap. Peyton laid his head on Jaidens shoulder, and Jaiden started gently running his fingers through Peyton's hair. The skies were clear, and the air was brisk the way the lovebirds liked it. They talked things out, and Jaiden apologized again for hurting Peyton. Peyton reached up and pulled Jaidens head to him and gave him the most loving kiss ever. Jaiden asked Peyton, "Sweetheart, does that kiss mean we need to go home and go to bed?" "Jaiden, what do you think?"

Jaiden called Dale and told him they were on the way home to made sure the path to the bedroom was clear, that Peyton had kissed him. Dale smiled and told Charley. "Peyton kissed Jaiden, and they are on the way home. Jaiden said to make sure the hallway to their bedroom is clear."

"Let's go to their room, turn down the covers, and cut the stereo on and get some slow jazz playing. We'll turn the lights down low and have their room ready when they get home."

"Dale, you had a great idea tonight, and it looks like the intended result is happening." Dale walked to Charley, took Charley's face in his hands, kissed him, and said, "Yep, love, it indeed does."

Charley called Peyton's Dad and told him how much the banter over the shower incident had upset and embarrassed Peyton beyond belief and that Jaiden said it wasn't to be mentioned again in or outside their house. He also told Dad Riley how Jaiden had sat on the deck and cried his heart out because him telling his Mom about the incident had set off the banter that caused Peyton so much embarrassment and hurt, and that was extremely difficult for Jaiden to process. He is so protective of Peyton and tries so hard not to cause Peyton to ever be upset.

Dad Riley told Charley he needed to apologize to Peyton. Charley told him not to do that because it would only cause Peyton's and Jaidens anxiety to resurface. Charley said, "Dad, I think the best thing you could do right now is to write Peyton a note telling him how proud you are of him, how great of a job you think he is doing with the children, and tell Peyton how much you love him. That will help more than anything else." "Charley, thank you for letting me know. Right now, I feel like a complete ass." "Dad, that is a lot better than the way I feel. Please send Peyton that note. I have to go; they are pulling into the garage."

Dale went to the kitchen and opened the door to the garage. Peyton and Jaiden walked through the door holding hands and headed to the bedroom. They were shocked to see the covers turned down, to hear the slow jazz playing softly, and the lights being dimmed. There was a tray next to the bed with a fresh pot of coffee, Stevia, and cream. "Peyton, can you believe what Dale and Charley have done for us?" "Yes and no, Jaiden. We helped them through rough situations, and they have turned the tables. They really are our brothers because only brothers would have gone to this level to help us."

Jaiden began undressing Peyton and Peyton began undressing him. When they were void of all their clothes, they climbed into bed, and the romance accelerated.

When Jaiden and Peyton got up the next morning, they felt much better and appeared to be as happy as ever. They took care of their boys morning routines and got them fed before Ginny and Granny arrived.

Ginny and Granny walked in the door and said, "Good morning, boys!" The boys hugged them before leaving for school and told them the children had been fed, used the potty, and had gone back to sleep. Jaiden said, "Ginny, I apologize for this, but the bed is unmade, and we left an empty coffee pot in the bedroom." Ginny said, "Jaiden, I am proud of you and Peyton; you finally left me something to do."

When Ginny checked the bedroom, she knew something had been wrong last night because Jaiden nor Peyton ever left clothes on the floor like they did this morning. She would watch them to ensure they were OK. If she felt like she needed to intervene, she would, but she would do it very respectfully.

When Jaiden and Peyton got home, Gampy and The Reverend were sitting on the deck. After the Dads kissed their sons, told each of them they loved them, and had played with their boys, Jaiden went to the deck to greet Gampy and The Reverend. He shook their hands and gave them a hug. The Reverend invited Jaiden to have a seat and talk to him and Gampy for a few minutes.

The Reverend started the conversation by saying he knew something had been wrong. He knew Jaiden and Peyton had been upset. Still, the reason was none of his business unless Jaiden or Peyton wanted to tell him. He just wanted to make sure Jaiden and Peyton were OK and to let them know that if they need to talk something out that he and Gampy were there for their boys.

Jaiden said, "Reverend, thank you. You and Gampy are the closest to a real Dad that I have ever had, and you are correct; there was a problem that horribly upset and embarrassed Peyton. If he comes out here, I will have to stop talking, but you deserve to know what it was since you sensed a problem."

"We were in the showers to bathe the boys the other night, but the boys wanted to play in the water, so Peyton and I let them play, took our showers, and then sat on the floor to play with our sons. When they started getting tired of playing, Peyton grabbed Jimmy and was on his knees as he began to bathe him. In the middle of everything, Nathan crawled over to Peyton, grabbed him by his pubic hair, and tried to pull himself up. In that attempt, he pulled out a fist-full of Peyton's pubic hair. Peyton's eyes bulged so severely they hurt for two days, not to mention the pain where the hair once was. I told Mom, Mom told Peyton's Dad, and a lot of bantering back and forth occurred. Nobody noticed, but Peyton was horribly embarrassed and upset about the incident and the bantering. I found him crying after his Papa called him and apologized for the insensitivity of the people who had crossed a line and violated Peyton's privacy and feelings. Sadly, it was all my fault because I told my Mom, and she told Peyton's Dad who ribbed him fairly hard.

I got so upset I didn't want to talk to anybody because it was the second time my insensitivity had caused Peyton to be so upset. I guarantee you there won't be a third incident of me upsetting Peyton."

The Reverend said, "Son, that has happened to every Dad on this earth who has bathed a son. It occurred to me twice with my and Grannys boys when they were young. In the old days, it was nothing for a Dad to shower with his son, but today, that can cause huge problems, so I can understand Peyton getting so upset."

"Just understand that if you need Gampy or me to help you, we have your back. I don't care what time it is when you need us, and neither does Gampy, so you better pick up the phone and call us. If we find out you needed us and didn't call, we won't be happy campers."

Jaiden leaned over and hugged the Reverend and said, "thank you, that means the world to me. I told Ginny that if we weren't devout Jews, wed join your church in a heartbeat. You are such loving and accepting people, the kind we don't find in other churches where we speak on love and acceptance."

The Reverend said, "Son, that is the best compliment I have received in a long time, and I am going to tell the congregation you said that; it will make their hearts glad. And by the way, I love you too! When you, Peyton, and the boys get back from Erie after completing your residency and internship, we are going to be right here waiting on the seven of you. That's a promise!" "Thank you."

When Jaiden and Peyton got into class Tuesday morning, Andy handed them a note to read after class. When class was over, Peyton and Jaiden went to the cafeteria to eat lunch. They got their food and sat at a table with several of their classmates. Jaiden pulled the note from his coat pocket, opened it, and read it. The guys at the table noticed his eyes redden and tear up. Jaiden handed the note to Peyton, who likewise had red, teary eyes after reading it. All Peyton said was WOW! None of their classmates asked about the message, and Peyton and Jaiden kept it private. Peyton slumped in his seat and stared at the note. That was enough for his classmates to understand that it touched a nerve in Peyton. Richard was sitting with Peyton and Jaiden, and he knew what had happened. He was still sitting there waiting on his next class to start when Peyton and Jaiden went to their next class.

After Peyton and Jaiden were in class, Richard said, "Guys, my brother was horribly embarrassed and upset over the banter about his mishap with his son. That note was most likely an apology. That is the only thing I know of that would make my brother react the way he did. He doesn't know it, but Charley had a talk with Dad about the bantering and told him it had to stop. Papa called Peyton and apologized to him for the insensitivity so many people displayed over what Peyton felt was an intensely personal and embarrassing situation."

"When Papa did that, Peyton cried for two hours until Jaiden found him. Jaiden got so upset over Peyton being hurt and embarrassed that he wouldn't look at or speak to anyone."

"He refused to eat dinner until Charley told him he had a choice of getting off his ass and going inside to have dinner or having Charley drag him inside, that it was his choice. Jaiden went inside to eat, but he said his peace to Dale and Charley and told them not to mention the subject again anywhere. So now you know."

Ray said, "Richard, we had no idea that Peyton was so upset. I wish I knew what we could do to let him know how sorry we are for being a part of him getting so upset." "Ray, you could approach Peyton and say, 'Peyton, I noticed you got very upset Monday. I'm sorry if I was a part of what upset you. We all love you, and we hope you know and understand that.' That would be the one thing that would touch his heart and calm his mind. You don't have to specifically mention the incident. It would probably be best to avoid the mention of that altogether."

"Since the incident with Seth, and our adoption by Peyton's entire family, I have learned Peyton has an intensely private side to him that he doesn't talk about. He tends to internalize things until they tear him up emotionally. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen."

"The two worst incidents of him being angry and hurt and saying nothing about it involved Jeremy and Seth. That Peyton handles things the way he does goes to his character, which is second to nobody except for Jaiden. People who think they know him have no idea what a loving, compassionate, caring, and concerned man he truly is."

"Have you guys seen my new car?" "Not really; why?" "Guys, I have been living with Peyton and Jaiden since Seth's hospitalization. I got home one day, and there was a new car in the driveway, and I was trying to figure out who was at the house. When we got out of Peyton's and Jaiden's Lincoln, we got in the car in the driveway, and they told me to drive to the Ford dealership."

The Ford dealership owner took us into a conference room and told me to sign some forms. I asked him what they were for, and he said I didn't need to know that, to just sign the documents, so I did. That is when Mr. Pope said, Thank you for giving me your car, now I can sell it and make me some money. I thought I had just given my car away and wouldn't have a way to get around and do what I needed to do, and I started crying, thinking I had been ripped off."

"I started asking Jaiden questions about what happened, and he told me to shut up, close my eyes, and hold my hand out, palm up. He dropped something in my hand, and I asked him what it was since my eyes were still closed. Peyton told me to open my eyes and look. I wondered why I had a square key in my hand, and Peyton, Jaiden, and Mr. Pope started laughing." Jaiden said, "Richard, with the nice clothes you just got, and with a new girlfriend as hot as Sally, we couldn't let you ride around in an old clunker. Besides, a lady as hot as Sally deserves to ride in the best car there is." "That was when he told me the new Lincoln I drove to the dealership was mine, and everybody said, 'Happy Birthday.' Guys, it is a candy apple red Lincoln Nautilus. I couldn't say anything. I didn't know what to say. Jaiden told me to pick my jaw up off the floor, or it was going to start hurting. I was so out of it that I don't remember how I was able to drive home."

"Richard, you have got to be kidding us!" "Guys, I'm not. Come out in the parking lot, and I will show it to you. I drove us to school today."

When they saw the car, Ray said, "Damn, Richard, this is unreal." "Yes, it is. Since I became Peyton's brother and a part of his family, I have gotten one blessing after another, and Seth has been blessed more than I have. He is in a private Jewish school in Orange Beach, studying Marine Biology and Marine Biodiversity and setting academic records left and right."

"We are so grateful to have been accepted by Jaiden, Peyton, and their families. When I went to court to see my Dad literally get life in prison, and my Mom get 45 years to serve, my new Dad, Peyton's Dad, somehow pulled off an adoption on the spot with Attorney Pete Gray. We were immediately adopted by Peyton's Mom and Dad right after my Mom and Dad were sentenced to prison. Life has been so surreal for the past six months. Especially exciting with Seth's recovery is that I am engaged to marry Sally, who was Seth's nurse in the hospital. She is the sweetest, most genuine person I have ever met next to Peyton and Jaiden. Without those two, we would not be so blessed right now."

"Richard, we all know Peyton and Jaiden are extraordinary individuals, but your story beats the cake. It is unreal!"

When the guys got home, Ginny told Peyton he had a letter from home. As he opened the envelope and started reading the note inside, tears started flowing over his cheeks. Ginny was concerned and got Jaidens attention.

"Babe, what's wrong?" Peyton handed Jaiden the note, and he started reading what it said:

"Dear Peyton, Son, I talked to Dad yesterday, and he pretty much chewed my butt. I also got a call from Charley, who very nicely told me to lay off about Sunday's incident. Dad clued me in on some things about you that I never noticed, and I am so very sorry I didn't. I just took it for granted that most of the jokes I had pulled were OK. I learned Monday they weren't."

"Please forgive me for those times when my joking caused you pain. I did not mean to do that. I am sorry that I never clued into your sensitive side. You hid things so well that I had no clue. When I found out about that, I realized just how strong a man you are, and I am incredibly proud of that."

"I am so incredibly proud to watch you and see how good a Dad you are to your and Jaidens boys. You are amazing in what you and Jaiden have accomplished with those lads. Quite frankly, you are so amazing that I sometimes feel like an amateur as a Dad. Thanks to you, I have learned to be more sensitive to how Seth feels, and I have stopped joking so much with him. I have tried to turn the joking into showing him love in the best of ways. I know your mother said we would forever be in your and Jaiden's debt for bringing Seth and Richard into our lives. To me, that is an understatement of our gratitude."

"I love you dearly, and I am so sorry I crossed a line and upset you. I will try to make sure that never happens again.

Dad"

Jaiden sat down on the couch and held Peyton as they cried together. To get that note from Peyton's Dad was so surreal to them.

When Dale and Charley came home and stepped into the den, Charley took a huge step back when he saw Peyton and Jaiden holding each other and crying.

Dale asked what was wrong, and Jaiden handed him the note from Peyton's Dad. When Dale read it, he, too, started crying as he handed the note to Charley.

Charley became visibly upset and started to sit down when Peyton grabbed him, hugged him tightly, and cried with him. Peyton calmed down enough to mutter, "Charley, thank you; I love you so much!" Charley sat down in a chair and stared out the French Doors as tears streamed down his face.

When everybody calmed down enough to talk, Jaiden told Charley that when they got into class that morning, Andy gave them a note apologizing for the ribbing Peyton took in class. He promised to be more sensitive to certain situations. "All I can say is we have been riding a roller coaster all day, and we genuinely appreciate you singlehandedly shutting down the joking that so badly upset Peyton."

Charley looked at Peyton, with tears still streaming down his face, and apologized for being a part of the upsetting bantering.

"Charley, you and Dale more than made up last night for anything you could possibly have done to upset me."

Peyton looked at Jaiden, pulled his head down, and passionately kissed his husband. Jaiden looked at Charley and Dale and said, "Damn, thanks, guys! See you in about three hours," as he took Peyton's hand and headed to the bedroom.

Dale looked at Charley and said, "We get to help all ten babies potty shortly and then feed them. I don't think Peyton and Jaiden are going to come downstairs any time soon."

Jaiden left his phone in the den, so when it rang, Dale answered it. "Dale, this is Mom. Is Jaiden there?" "Yes, mam, he is, but Peyton just kissed him, and I don't think he's going to be free for the next three hours." "Mom said, Good. When he emerges from the cocoon, please ask him to call me." "Yes, mam, I will. Have a good night, Mom." "You and Charley do the same, Dale."

"Charley, that was Jaidens Mom. By the tone of her voice, she apparently got your message as well." "I didn't mean to stir up so much, Dale. It is killing me that I hurt Peyton with my joking."

"Sweetheart, stop punishing yourself, it was all of us, and it was because we didn't know about Peyton's sensitive, private side. We know about it now and can honor it. We cant change the past, so let's put this behind us and move forward. By the way, when Jaiden and Peyton come downstairs, I fully intend to take you upstairs and send you to Mars and back." "Oh crap, Dale, my spring has already sprung. We might not be able to wait. There may be some rare action on the couch very shortly." "Mmmm, that sounds like an incredible proposition, Babe." "Believe me, Sweetheart, it is!"
