I have managed another chapter. There may be a short break between Chapter 21 and 22 but not a long one. This present chapter sets the scene for the next couple of chapters.

Previously

The table erupted with surprise and congratulations. Both Mamma and Pops were on their feet. Mamma gave Philipo a huge hug and Pops, to my surprise, did the same to me. Then they changed positions. Mamma whispered in my ear that she could not be happier and she kissed me. We had their blessings. That was really important to me.

They were excited when we outlined our plan. Our only regret was that we could not have it in our church. We had decided on a private service in a small reception hall. There were ministers who would do this and we had some leads. We had already made some enquiries about locations and Pops had some connections and he would look as well in the Italian community. Our biggest regret was that Father Gregory could not officiate but we had decided to invite him as a friend and colleague.

We were high for the rest of the day and I took my guy to bed that night telling that we had to practice for the honeymoon. Oh, it was going to be a great honeymoon if the practice indicated anything.

We left for work the next day agreeing that we could tell whoever we thought that we should tell. I asked David to come to my office at the end of the day.

He had his usual look of what had he done wrong. I would have to work on him to not have that automatic reaction to a call to see me. He had come in with several file folder but they had been put aside as I told him what had happened in San Francisco. He was excited and was vocal with his congratulations but I could tell that something was bothering him.

"David is there something you want to tell me and I pointed to the file folders."

"Boss, sorry to dampen the spirits. I have done a lot of work on Philip's company using some of the standard techniques and somethings that I learned at the conference. He has a problem and I think that it is significant."

Present

David and I reviewed his findings quickly. It looked as if there was a problem. I was impressed with the excellent quality of his work and his sharp mind; I told him so emphatically. I had also noticed since my arrival back from Sam Francisco that he was interacting much more actively with the staff and I had noticed him asking questions and asking for help on some issues in this file. He had a really engaging way of dealing with people. I was giving myself a pat on the back for the hire and the way I had handled him in the last months. This young man was a keeper. I could see a very bright future for him with the company. Well, as long he didn't run off to Tucson permanently.

I figured that there was an easy way to at least start the ball rolling. "If you are free, come on over for supper and we can have a family discussion of your findings." To his look, "We have a lot of food in the slow cooker, enough for everyone. Not a problem. Might need some wine to deal with this as well, maybe lots. There is a good supply of that as well."

David looked pleased to be asked and I knew that he and Jeremy were having breaks together and seemed to be enjoying each others company. An idea popped into my head that I would save for later if it seemed appropriate.

We put David's file folders in the study. I told him that we might as well have a good, enjoyable supper before giving Philipo the bad news that were going to have to give him. There were a few gibes about our engagement and how out of control we were on the trip. I really enjoyed it that David would let his hair down like that. Jeremy used the word disgusting quite a few times ... with a big grin. He received a big laugh and quick whack from Philipo when he muttered that he saw too much of that around the house.

After a good supper together, we went to the living room and David retrieved his files. I asked Jeremy to stay because I wanted him in on the discussion. I had a possible suggestion for involving him.

David outlined very clearly and succinctly his findings and suspicions. Philipo very quickly summed up David's outline. "OK, there appear to be no loose ends. All the entries are correct and accounted for, yet you say that we are spending more than we did last year even though we have increased our prices. You feel that in the aggregate we are using more materials than we should, even given that we have expanded our number of jobs. I am at a loss. Where can we go from here? Maybe we just didn't give good enough estimates and have taken on too much and not made enough profits." He shrugged.

We all looked at each other. Jeremy was deep in thought. He looked up. "Did you do a breakdown by job?"

"No that would involve a fair amount of work and I haven't had a chance."

Ah, my idea might just work. "If you had a extra body to do your bidding, could that help." David nodded of course. "Even if that person was not a trained accountant?"

"If that person would do what I wanted and was a quick learner, it could work well."

I smiled. "Jeremy, how would you like to get some forensic accounting experience?"

"Jeez, anything would be better than filing, buying supplies and ordering coffee for the staff lounge."

"Oh you would have to do that as well but we could see how it works."

David with a little smirk, "Boss, I said quick learner!" His tone of voice was great. To Jeremy's protests, David just laughed. "He does exactly what I want with no back talk and no taking too many breaks." He looked at Jeremy who was bristling. "Gotcha! I would really like to work with you." He turned to me again with a smirk. "Could I treat him like an intern? He has to do exactly what I say?"

"Is the Pope, Argentine?" They all chuckled. "I'll leave it to you to organize what to do and how you want to proceed. It does look as if time is important here."

Philipo and I went down the hall with the two guys planning strategies. David looked pleased and Jeremy looked excited.

"Well I warned you a few weeks back that I thought that I might have a problems. Life is like that. Good times in San Francisco and not so good, in this respect, back home."

"You still have me."

"About that. We have both been a little absorbed in getting back to work and having things in order. We need some 'us' time." He raised his eyebrows. "We could start tonight." His eyes were so bright with possibilities. God, he was sexy.

"Do we want to be blatant and say goodnight now or do we wait?"

"Well, David knows us pretty well and Jeremy certainly knows that we do not lead a celibate life. OK, compromise. How about reading for a bit and then we can plead fatigue, probably to looks and cat calls if I know that pair." He gave me a very pleasant kiss.

We sat down together. Sooner than I expected, we heard the guys moving and I heard Jeremy say that he would tell Dad. I went into the living room. "You leaving?" David nodded yes and we said goodnight.

When he had gone, "Dad, thanks. I have enjoyed my work so far at your firm and on construction with Dad's firm but this will add a whole new dimension to the summer. I can hardly wait for tomorrow to get down to it. David is a really a great guy. I think that he has really come into his own. The people around the office have seen a real change in him in the last weeks, especially since the conference."

"I had a little talk with him in San Francisco and it looks as if that helped along with the new ideas and the whole experience there."

"How serious is the Brandon thing?"

"They hit it off but I think that both are realistic. Neither wants to relocate so they might visit once but I suspect that may be the end of it. I certainly don't want him moving to Tucson and you can quote me." He gave me smile. I returned his look. "It has been a busy and tiring time since we arrived back. Time to call it a night and turn in. See you tomorrow."

I gave his shoulder a squeeze as he went by. I got the sweetest smile and look and no comments about early to bed.

In our room, "I hope that you are alright with what you heard tonight." Philipo nodded that he was OK with what he heard and he commented that he needed to find out if there was a major problem.

I turned to him. "You are quite cute when you look all serious. No, not cute ... you are sexy as hell." I pulled him close putting my hands on his ass. I pinched him. I guess fairly hard.

"You prick that hurt."

"Language, language! Ah, baby was hurt." I held him out looking at him. I was feeling very turned on and decided to take a different tack, taking my lead from Philipo's words. "It is the prick that I want. You are such a sexy beast. I could eat IT up." I gave him a smouldering look as if I were thinking about it. "Yeah, my first move."

I had his fly open and his hardening cock in my mouth in seconds. "I love your great huge, red prick. IT tastes so good. I love the big, soft head. Such a turn on." Even I could hear the slurping noise that I was letting myself make. It only made me hornier.

I pulled his balls as I sucked him and I heard him drawn in his breath. I stopped for a minute while I opened his belt and pants. They were around his ankles immediately. My tongue, mouth and hands were everywhere.

Finally, hearing him gasp, I looked up. He looked at me. "And where do you want this prick." He grabbed it and stroked it. I shuddered; it was red, wet and the veins were highlighted. I swallowed almost nervously.

"I want to lean against the wall beside the mirrored doors and I want to watch IT go slowly into me and then I want to watch you fuck me with IT and this time I'll spray the mirror when you force it out of me."

"What's gotten into you. You never talk like this." He was chuckling as he pulled me up.

"Sometimes I feel so fucking horny for you that I just want to let you know how much in the most basic words."

I shed my clothes in an instant and was standing beside the mirror leaning towards it so that I could see him approaching with the lube. He stood to the side so that i could see as he lubed himself stroking himself with obvious pleasure. Christ what a turn on. Then he turned me so that I could see him lubing me. A tremor went through my body again as he put the lube in, probing to touch my prostate. My entire body was vibrating with sexual energy as he stroked it with his finger.

At my wits end, I ordered him. "Philipo fuck me! I need it." He did.

He knew that I this was not meant to last. I was lucky that I had braced my arms against the wall. I looked on mesmerized as I watched it disappear into me. His first few strokes were very hard and fast. I just managed to keep myself stable with my arms locked. After a few more hard thrusts, he withdrew until just the head was still in me and looked at me for my reaction. Both our eyes were smouldering as we stared at each other. I pushed back hard into him and then used my entire body to ride him standing up, in and out, back and forth.

His eyes were wide open in wonder. I finally stopped. "Use your hand on me. Fuck, it won't take long."

He pushed hard into me and surrounded me with his arms so that I could not move. He was strong. Then one hand moved down and started to stroke me hard and fast. I was panting. "Take you hand off my chest to let me move but don't stop stroking me with your hand.

I closed my eyes luxuriating in the sensations running through my body as he stroked me and I moved slowly on his cock. The pleasure was incredible. I suddenly knew that it was coming and I opened my eyes and stared into his in the mirror. My eyes opened wide, my mouth came open and my face tightened. "Philipo, lover, I never knew that anyone could do this to me!"

Shot after shot on the mirror. I could see it and I could see his face break into a look of love as he took several strokes in and out and grabbed me tight again with his arms as he muttered my name over and over as he came in waves of passion. When he came out, I turned him and kissed him passionately. Nothing was said. We didn't have to.

As we sat sedately with coffee and cereal the next morning. Philipo looked at me. "I think back sometimes to that pensive guy, looking a little wistful and down last September and then I compare him to the guy last night."

I interrupted, "Is that a complaint?"

"How did I look last night?"

"That was the problem. You looked so fucking sexy and hot that you brought out the best or the worst in me."

"The best!" He leaned over and kissed me hard.

"Oh jeez, they are at it again. Get married already."

We grabbed him together and tickled him until he was crying for us to stop. We were all laughing by the end of it. "Oh and good morning to you Jeremy."

"Harumpf." That just brought more laughter.

We talked on the way to work. Jeremy was very excited to start the day. He knew that it could take them days to do it: figure a way to get the data in the correct order. He told me that they had decided last night that that was their first task, to make a back up and then sort it again it to get the results that they needed. It would take some efforts. He was missing his time at the construction site but we had decided that this was more important and he would make up some time there when this part was over.

I passed through their area several times during the day. I caught snippets of conversation. The first time I went by I heard David telling Jeremy that I was called boss and Jeremy could call him, Master. There were ripples of laughter with a curt 'yeah in your dreams'. Later, I heard them kibitzing and laughing as Jeremy said 'yes Master'. He had the tone just right. I had a couple of happy, engaged workers.

I talked to a couple of my senior staff and told them what we were doing and brought them up to date with my plans for the forensic side. It appeared that a number of them were looking forward to being able to refer clients and they all understood what that could mean to the bottom line.

One of the first things that I had done when I started the firm was to inaugurate a profit sharing plan with open books at the end of the fiscal year. I eventually included all staff in the firm in the scheme. I made sure that their wages were at the same level as the industry so that the profit sharing was indeed extra money at the end of the fiscal year. It made a difference in the atmosphere and the commitment of the staff, I was certain.

David impressed me at the end of the day when he came into my office with Jeremy..

"Boss, Jeremy had a really good idea for codes to add to an extra field. We just did a preliminary sort and it looks promising.

Jeremy, "Hold on it was your idea to have an extra field."

David, "Your coding idea was excellent!" He said it in a tone that brooked no come back.

I was so proud of David. He was either mimicking my style or he was a natural. I always believed that a good manager should never take credit for another's accomplishments. Jeremy was glowing from David's recognition of his achievement. David was growing with the job.

The next couple of days were frantic for me. July 1 (Canada Day, the Canadian National Holiday) was almost on us. We had an invitation to Michael Burtchell's families cottage. The many family members were away those days so there was lots of room for our extra bodies, Philipo, myself, Jeremy and David. We were going up late on June 30 and coming back on July 2. I had discussed it with the senior managers and we all agreed that we should take the extra day. One of the advantages of small firm, owned by a local with all the staff having input and some say in such things.

Philipo and I split a long list of supplies to buy and things to bring with us. I had quite a few meetings with clients in the preceding days as well. As a result, I didn't give much thought or attention to what the guys were doing with Philipo's file. They were certainly working insanely hard.

Mid afternoon on June 30, as I was getting yet another coffee, I heard a loud comment from David. "Jeremy, I think that we have our first break. Your idea of looking at the file by job was excellent." I heard a few self deprecating comments from Jeremy and an emphatic 'don't play yourself down' from David. I was proud of them both. I decided to let them break it to me on their own time.

A half hour later, there was a cautious knock on my door. "David come in. You guys want anything to drink?"

They were too excited. "Boss, I think that we have made a break through." He explained their methodology which was very smart. "Boss, when we look at it by job, there are quite a few jobs that jump out as costing too much even though the receipts tally. We searched the first two and they are run by the same foreman and crew. We haven't yet been able to do that analysis on the remaining jobs.

"Well done. Now, I know how exciting this is for you but we have to leave the city in two and half hours. Put it away and go get ready. A lot of the rest of the staff have left. The data will still be here on July 3. By the way, congratulations. I am proud of you both."

As they left, I heard David offering Jeremy a drive home as I had the car. They left talking enthusiastically about the file. The excitement of youth, wonderful.

I had no idea how beautiful it would be at the Burtchell cottage. First, it was beautiful summer day in Ontario. The temperature was in the high 20s Celsius with little humidity. There was just a gentle breeze to spread the smell of the water and the pines to the senses. The cottage was one of those that had been added to as it was updated but it was not one of those new, big, modern houses on a lake. It felt like a cottage.

It had all the conveniences but Michael had made it clear that the TV was not going to be used and he would impose a down time if the use of electronic gadgets was too great. It turned out that it just wasn't necessary.

That night we had a BBQ and played cards. It was boisterous with lots of hilarious comments. Again it was interesting to watch Jeremy and David as they interacted with guys basically a life stage beyond them. They could hold their own. In particular, David and Stephen chatted a lot about economics and Jeremy discussed forensic accounting with Michael. It was clear that Michael was as impressed with the young man as we had been when we first met him. It was interesting that night. Everyone was gay and there were little touches and comments that would not have been made in mixed company. It was a bit like being in the Castro. That would change tomorrow but that was OK too.

I kind of felt bad as we said goodnight to the David and Jeremy knowing certainly what would happen between Philipo and me and if the touches and looks earlier were any indication, Michael and Stephen would be up to the same as us. I had kept my promise that I would not tell anyone about David's orientation although Jeremy must have known with his Brandon question a few days back. I watched as the two guys said goodnight and went into their rooms. Probably, it was better this way. David probably worried that Jeremy was the bosses 'son' and Jeremy knew that he would be starting university and a new life in the late summer.

My thought did not put a damper on what Philipo and I got UP to. Our only limitation was that sound does travel easily in old cottages; the walls are thin. Still we let each other know what a great day we had had together with friends and family. Philipo had made a really good rapport with both Stephen and Michael in San Francisco. I think that we had a new circle of friends.

The next day was filled with swimming, canoeing, kayaking and a volleyball tournament. Michael's family that did come was a delight and their friends from the city were a mixture of gay and straight which is exactly what I like.

The community association held a spectacular fireworks display at the beach within walking distance of the cottage. I followed Michael and Stephen's lead with my arm over Philipo's shoulder as we oohed aahed over the display. We had a few looks but most just did their thing with their loved ones. It made me very proud to be Canadian. I had been correct may years back. We have had legal gay marriage in the entire country since 2005 (marriage is controlled by the federal government in Canada) and it was no longer a big issue. There had been the news photos and videos of gay weddings in the first weeks after the law was promulgated and then nothing. It just was and that had been my prediction. The Premier of Ontario is gay. We have a gay mayor of one of our big cities in Ontario and a major cabinet minister in the Canadian government is gay. I even gave Philipo and light kiss as the last volley of fireworks ended. He had looked at me with a question. "That was just for you because you are you." He returned it. I heard Jeremy say to David that they did that all the time. He said that he knew from San Francisco. I hoped that we were a good example for both of them.

We left in mid afternoon after a delicious late lunch for which we provided the food. We knew that we would be seeing more of Michael and Stephen in the near future. We were competitors in business but had become friends, even though they were a little older than us.

We drove back slowly and ate at really good small town diner that the two guys had recommended heartily. They were right the food was not expensive and really good. We arrived back to our place tired but refreshed and I am certain that Jeremy and David felt the same. I could almost feel a reluctance from David to leave us. I would have to think about that.

We settled back into work. It felt good to be back with such a delightful time in the country. The guys were working hard at their project and I was busy formulating plans for the forensic side of the business. I had tentatively decided on making David head of the unit and hiring a full time person to work under him as we started to expand that side of the business. It was a bit of a gamble but I was convinced that I was on the right course.

I discussed my plans with other managers and they agreed from what they had seen in David's growth that it was a good decision. I wanted to fill out my plans with more detail and then I would approach David with it. I would wait until they had basically finished their work on Philipo's case. Philipo and I had agreed that Jeremy would work the entire week with me. His case was just too important. That breakthrough came quicker than I expected with ramifications and outcomes not at all as I would have anticipated.

On the Friday after July 1, David and Jeremy came into my office. "Boss, I think that we have cracked the case but I don't know how to proceed."
